Reviews of Asa's Bakery
Sean Lawrence
Lovely bagels and a cute little store! I had a great time looking at the cute decor of the shop while waiting in line. I was worried they had run out of bagels, but they pulled a tray of everything bagels fresh out of the oven. I love the fennel seed in their everything mix. The cream cheeses are great; dill and scallion is very good but radish and shallot is divine. Worth waiting in line for!

Awesome place. The bagel was soft and chewy cream cheese was really creamy. The cold brew could be a touch stronger other than that it's very good. If you live in South Minneapolis I suggest you check this place out this was my first time coming here I will be back also this was under 10$

Absolutely great bagels. Crisp chewy crust, well developed flavors. It's also my favorite sourdough loaf I've had so far. The rotating loaves are good too. If you want coffee to go with it go with their cold press, which is also really tasty.

Waited a little bit while in line before ordering but it was well worth it. The onion bialy is incredible and we will definitely come back many times for them and the bagels. Don't skip the cream cheese either!

Asa’s is our go-to-spot! Their bagels are amazing and the sourdough bread is a chewy, tangy, lovely perfection. Friendly employees and I appreciate their mask policy and care for community!

Delicious everything! Bagels (I love the sesame), bialys (if you've never heard of it, try it!), breads (cheddar scallion in Sundays is my fav), and homemade cream cheese (always awesome and unique seasonals) - it's all wonderful. On top of that the employees are all very nice!

Great bakery but they REALLY need some one to improve their process and flow. Everytime I've gone in they get confused about what they already gave me. Their slowest station (cream cheese apply) is understaffed so it slows everything else down and there's always a big group waiting just for cream cheese. It's honestly painful to sit and watch how badly it's laid out/staffed at each station. Get a consultant, or take a look at Rise bagels, make some big changes, and I'll happily come back, just too chaotic still.

Great great bagels and lovely owner. Only thing is for some reason they have only one person preparing the bagels so the line gets really long and quite the wait. Worth it! But really doesn't need to take this long.
Benjamin Kornelis
Service is great, bagels are fabulous. I wish there were options for those of us with more of a sweet tooth (honey pecan cream cheese?) - it's pretty much all savory.
Guy Piotrowski
Counter person was preoccupied with masks instead of serving customers. I'm not against wearing masks but she could have been nicer about it considering most places no longer require them. Oh, and bagels were pricey and just ok. Won't be back.
Derrick Green
Asa and his team are turning out consistently top-notch bagels and cream cheese. I had never heard of a bialy before Asa’s, and they are delicious.
Mark Yackley
Excellent neighborhood bakery. Bagels, breads are delicious. However, you must always get a Bialy.
Peter Goldberg
Inviting place with a limited menu of items that are always fresh and quite delicious. I had a bialy for the first time and it was like the best bagel that you could imagine, adorned with some of their herby schmear. We are very happy to have this place close by and this will be a frequent stop for us.
Alan Reyes
Quality bread and quality service. Been coming here for a few months now and they're always serving delicious stuff with a friendly attitude. Their new currant scones have been my favorite so far.
Jennifer Graff
The Bialy's are so good! Seasonal cream cheeses are fantastic. And I love the cheddar scallion bread. A weekly must stop
Morgan Bliss
the only decent bagel in mpls! nyc approved, and the staff was all so lovely and sweet
J Jasperson
FINALLY, a fantastic bagel place in the neighborhood! By far the most delicious bagels I have ever had, including the ones I’ve had in NYC!! The Bialys are extraordinary, if you have never had one, you must try!!
Matt Cohen
Is the real deal folks. A magical bakery that makes bagels, bialys, and breads. You'd have to go 1200 miles to NYC and you *might* be able to get a better bagel.
Benjamin Werner
Best bagels in MN. Bialy is fire. All other bagel makers in the Twin Cities need to step up their game and stop serving hot garbage. Asa’s or bust.
Beth Yudelman
Favorite bagels in the Twin Cities! The rotating seasonal cream cheeses and breads are always delicious.
Jared Rolsky
Best bagels I have had so far in Minneapolis.
Joe Schweigert
This place has ruined me. I can't have bagels from anywhere else anymore.
Alice Kirchhoff
The seasonal cream cheese is fantastic right now, and the bagels are pretty good. The vibe in the shop was very disinterested. I'm sure some of it is just being a new business and working out the kinks. I hope they do, because a good bagel shop would be a phenomenal addition to the neighborhood.
Angel Gardner-Kocher
Until this bakery has opened, I had yet to have an authentic bagel here in the midwest. My partner and I went and were impressed by the quality and flavors available and the friendly staff. I had an everything bagel with dill cream cheese and Dogwood coffee and it was absolutely delicious. Even though it is a bit of a drive for us, it is definitely worth the trip!

Best place for bagels in the Twin Cities, hands down. Actually, I honestly can’t think of a bagel I’ve had in my life that was better. Also, Asa’s hand made cream cheeses blow my mind every time. there are seasonal cream cheeses! Asa has an excellent sense of taste for putting flavors together and I appreciate how much his cream cheeses have broadened my horizons, even with cream cheeses that had ingredients I didn’t think I liked. Turns out I just needed to have them in Asa’s cream cheese the whole time. In addition to the awesome food, it’s a great neighborhood spot And always full of neighborly Powderhorn love.
Sean M
Excellent bagels and fresh cream cheeses, sourdough worth the trip every time.

Randomly stopped in to check out the new little bagel shop, and it is DELICIOUS! The seasonal cream cheese is the perfect blend of flavors and the whitefish bagel is heaped with fish, dill, radishes, and a couple other toppings. Both were very good and I’ll definitely be back!

I moved to the neighborhood recently and have ordered from Asa's every week since - the breads are fresh, delicious, and store well. Love that the menu changes weekly. The bialys are delicious, bagels are chewy and have a crisp exterior - drool - and the homemade cream cheese is so good it doesn't need anything extra. Their COVID protocols are great and easy to maneuver - I have an alarm set on my phone every Friday morning so I don't miss out on ordering.

I'm new to the neighborhood and was thrilled to find this bakery just a stone's throw away. I've been looking high and low for amazing bagels and bialys; I can't remember having eaten a better bagel (and I eat a lot of bagels!) in my life. And don't get me started on the cream cheese. I can even admit that my own amateur sourdough bread was put to shame by the delicious sourdough from this bakery--but never fear, it turns out I can actually purchase some of Asa's starter to give my own sad starter a bit of a boost. I'm eager to try the rest of the menu and keep coming back to Asa's Bakery each week. I can't recommend highly enough!

Great bagels ever !! Being a New Yorker and just moving to the Twin Cities, I grew up with bagels. Asa's bagels are the real deal !! The bagels are crispy on the outside, the inside is nice and doughy, and the bagels are thick. Just the way a bagel should be !!
Cheryl Mizushima
My daughter Eiko shared a loaf of Asa's sourdough bread, resulting in the best turkey sandwich I have ever had in my entire life! I have also had Asa's bialys and bagels which were the best I have ever had. I am a foodie and particular about breads. If I had a last meal, I would have to choose all of these perfectly textured and flavorful treasures. You have to savor every bite because a lot of effort and love have gone into his baking!
Jeff Gavin
The only good bagels in the state. Fantastic.
Gabriella
Incredible bagels and bialys! So happy to have found this bakery. We hadn't heard of it until we drove by and noticed the name. Glad we looked them up cause we will definitely be ordering again!!
John Murray
Excellent bagels and seasonal cream cheeses. By far the best of either I've had in the area.
The staff were also very friendly and seemed to take pride in their work.
I will definitely be going back!
Katie Weidner
shared a kombucha elderberry and sour cherry , enjoyed a poppy seed bagel with garlic scants

The “there aren’t any good bagels in the Twin Cities” gripe is dead.
Asa’s is worth the wait for Thursday pickups. Dear lord. Straight-up spectacular.
Margot Howard
A true gem! Everything is delicious. I hope they’re planning on growing because they run out early often.
Becky Wiggins
We have only had the bialys. So soft and delicious. We have to try the bagels and breads next. I'm thrilled to have this a block away from our house. A great addition to the Corcoran neighborhood.
Gary Bucher
Delicious, delicious bagels and sourdough bread! A bit on the pricey side but worth it. Better than most New York bagels IMO.

Phenomenal artisan sourdough bread. The crusts are always chewy and the crumb is always moist and flavorful.

Be prepared to wait, but Asa's is worth it. This morning I had a warm bialy, straight from the oven, and it was heavenly!

Veronica Rosbolt
Best bagels in the city! Get the smoked whitefish sandwich.

The everything bagel here is very good! Probably the best bagel in Minneapolis. I would give 5 stars but they don’t allow dining due to Covid. I would really enjoy sitting down with a coffee, bagel, newspaper, and take in the vibes of this spot but alas isn’t possible.
Reed Osell
What a cool spot! Located next to Town Hall Lanes, this is quaint spot that's easy to miss if you are driving by too fast. I stopped in on a whim this morning and got a simple plain bagel with cream cheese. Absolutely delicious! I will be back!
