My birthday cake was really good. Not too sweet, moist and rich. The outer layer wasn't too thick/sweet/buttery. Upscaled version of a good home baked cake. Highly recommend. And then they have this cashew brittle which is out of the world. Don't miss it!

Simma's bakery has always been the sponsor of our birthdays and special events, so when it was time for my wedding I had no second thoughts in choosing the vendor. The experience was smooth. Simma's staff are very knowledgeable, approachable and professional. The cake looked and tasted FANTASTIC. We also got the tiramisu cups from them for the wedding and everyone loved them! I love Simma's cheesecake. The chocolate cake layer is moist. The cheesecake is rich and creamy. The raspberry layer is delicious and compliments the rest perfectly. The chocolate layer is rich and delicious as well. It is a wonderful treat for a special occasion. They have many other great bakery items here as well. It is definitely worth trying. The bakery is wheelchair accessible. There is enough space to maneuver around as well.

Simma’s bakery provided two delicious cakes for our wedding this past August. Their expertise showed when they had all the details ready for us at our tasting, and we fell in love with their flavors as well. So many of our guests commented on how excited they were to have a chocolate espresso wedding cake. We asked for a simple frosted cake decorated with fresh flowers, and Simma’s was happy to coordinate with our florist on the decorations. Overall, our cakes were executed wonderfully, and we cannot wait to pull our final slices out for our anniversary next August. We would definitely recommend working with Simma’s for anyone’s upcoming weddings.

We were SO happy with the wedding cake we ordered from Simma's Bakery! We went with a two-tier round cake plus a couple sheet cakes for a reception of ~100 guests. It was so, so delicious! The raspberry filling with the mix of vanilla and chocolate layers was yummy... plus, the buttercream frosting is rich but oh so tasty! I was able to send a couple pictures of design ideas, and the final product turned out perfect. Looking forward to going back for our anniversary cake next year. :)

Amazing cakes and pastries! I've been slowly sampling my way through the menu. Their ganache-covered hazelnut cake is one of my favorite things. Love their danishes and their morning buns, too! Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. I will definitely be back as often as possible.

I'm fairly disappointed with my cake. I had consulted over the phone with someone asking for recommendations for filling, and decided on white chocolate Gamache for the outside. The inside was good but the ganache tastes like I'm eating pure fat without any flavors at all, not sweet, and no white chocolate flavor. As someone who is a raving white chocolate fan, you can imagine my disappointment. It was very inconvenient as well to have the requirement to order be over the phone, which makes it very difficult to convey what design you'd like. Email or form ordering would be much better. The price we paid for the cake was not at all worth it, and the flowers were so small. The two people I talked to prior to ordering were very nice but the product was lacking.

Really dig this place. It isn't cheap but I feel the quality is there. Especially when you waited till the last minute but need something really good, better than what you can get at a grocery store. They keep some finished, undecorated cakes on hand and can customize and box up for you quickly. Plenty of time to run to the flower shop across the street. The bars and various smaller treats are excellent, some being very good value IMO. Even their cheapest items are made with good ingredients and the skill is apparent. Lots of extra supplies (plates, candles, hats) available. It's a very nice space with a competent and full staff. There is a semi private area for meeting and tasting wedding cakes.

I'm not a fan of anything on my cheesecake other than chocolate, but this place changed my mind. We also tried their sweet rolls which disappeared in record time. Next time we are in the area, I'll 100% stop in for more.

Simma's is a fantastic bakery that our family always uses. Their cakes (specifically cheesecake) are to die for! We chose to go with Simma's for our wedding cake and it was absolutely delicious. Our large cake was banana with chocolate mousse filling (better than homemade) and we had two sheet cakes of their cheesecake as well. They were timely and professional along the way. The only suggestion I would make is to bring a photo of what you want your cake to look like to your appointment. I had originally described what I wanted and when I had the follow up needed to bring a printed photo because some of the details got confused. In the end everything with the cake was absolutely perfect and delicious.

Simmas Bakery has to make the best cheesecake on Earth! We used them for our wedding 30 years ago when it was a tiny little store that had just started out. Now, my daughter just got married and we used them again for her wedding (and lots of times in between). They still use the original recipe and why wouldn't they, it is perfection! Honestly I don't know why this bakery is so famous. It was eatable, but nothing special. I think the biggest reason is it is Wisconsin. Really hard to find great desserts (especially cold cakes, ex. cheesecake, mousse cake...etc) in this area.

Ordering and prepay for a Mother's Day cheesecake was a breeze and the cake was DELICIOUS! Customer service was top-notch, the person who took my order was polite, offered me available options, and the opportunity to prepay which made pick up quick. Parking in front of the store is not great but that is mainly due to some road construction and the holiday weekend, otherwise it would have been more convenient. In store experience was good too, the store was busy for Mother's Day but I still got out pretty quick.

We got married at The Ivy House on April 16, 2022. We did popsicles as a dessert for our guests, but we still wanted a traditional cake for ourselves and our wedding party. Simma’s is our favorite bakery in the area, so this was a no-brainer when we decided on having a cake. We went in for a tasting which answered all of our questions and was extremely helpful to the process. It was pretty hard to narrow it down to one flavor, but we eventually agreed on a delicious combination! We did a two-tier cake with fresh strawberries inside and blue painted decor to match our wedding colors. The cake arrived on time and in perfect condition. Everyone said it was delicious! We decided to save the top part and freeze it so we can enjoy it on our year anniversary. I can’t wait to eat more of it! Simma’s has a huge variety of flavors and options. You will not be disappointed in whatever you order from them! Best desserts around!

Totally remodeled and enlarged since my last visit. Always busy, always a favorite. Best cheesecake ever: creamy cheese over a chocalate cake crust, a layer of raspberry and topped with a thin chocolate coat. The dog ate the wedding cake!!! This past weekend was my brother-in-law’s wedding. For some reason, we had the cake that my wife’s aunt made at our house the night before the wedding and were responsible for its care and transport to the reception venue (why…?). The night of the rehearsal, I had decided to bite the bullet and take my 1-year old daughter home so my wife could enjoy the rehearsal dinner without worrying about her. When I got home, I let the dog out of her cage and walked upstairs for bedtime stories. Finally getting my daughter to sleep, I went down to make dinner, watch some tv, etc… After about 30 minutes, I noticed my dog was acting a little guilty about something. I thought maybe she had an accident or something so I did a quick spin around and didn’t notice anything. Then I looked at the table… Where there was a ravaged wedding cake top and cake crumbles everywhere. I felt like the camera of life zoomed in on my realization of what happened… Terrified and furious, I put/threw my dog into her cage, and did what any 35 year-old American male would do, alone, in a cake related emergency… “Call Mom!”… It took a few minutes to get my mother to stop laughing at my cliché wedding-movie problem… Wiping the tears from her eyes she told me she would call back in a few minutes. Within 15 minutes, I was texting the on-call Simmas bakery owner who was available using the “Wedding Cake Emergency Hotline” (yeah… I didn’t know that was a thing either). I gave him the specs of the cake-top using my tape measure and some pictures and he said they will get on it in the morning. First thing the next day, the baker let me know the cake was ready. It was perfect. Texture, buttercream frosting, size, everything. As a note, Simmas did not make the original cake, their team is just extremely talented and worked ridiculously fast for some random guy whose 40-pound golden doodle got courageous. When I asked how much it was… The owner WAIVED THE FEE ENTIRELY!!! And said, just take a picture of the reaction (which I wasn’t present for sadly). Just to clarify, my family has been going to Simmas for years because their cakes are amazing. The owner didn’t know who I was, but still saved a crucial part of a wedding. I always knew this bakery made amazing pastries and cakes, but now I know it’s run by a generous and wonderful team. I come from a very big family, and Simmas will be my, and more importantly my mom’s, grandma to 19 hungry children, go to bakery whenever the occasion calls. Thank you, Mark, Meredith, and the entire Simmas Family for saving the day!!! PS: the dog is fine, and my wife’s aunt laughed about it (on the outside), so I think I’m in the clear… for now...

I ordered my son's birthday cake from Simma's after trying a slice at a work function, and I will never buy a cake from anywhere but Simma's ever again! They made him the most perfect birthday cake consisting of yellow cake, raspberry mouse filling and white buttercream frosting with blue lettering. Everyone at the party raved about the cake and many more requested seconds. Simma's is very well-known for their cheesecake, but don't sleep on their normal cake! It's some of the best, if not the best, I've had.

Very clean and cute bakery. The staff here is great and very friendly. I was greeted when I walked in and then asked if I needed time to browse, which I did. I just loved that they were attentive and not rushing me. They have a lot of variety of different individual treats. I took an assortment to try and they were packaged so nicely. Simma's is one of the most famous bakeries in the greater Milwaukee area and we were super thrilled to give it a try for my baby shower cake. The lady who I spoke with over the phone was very sweet and professional and told me I could email inspiration pictures to their email. I got an idea about the costs after speaking to them. Tiny tiny additions add up and end up being a LOT. We made a trip to the bakery to finalize the order and decide the flavor. They showed us some pictures of their own collection and this is the only reason I gave Simmas a 4 star is because all these designs were very outdated for baby shower cakes. There was nothing like the inspiration pics I had sent them so made me lose confidence if it was even possible so I went with something similar to what they had done in the past. The cake tasted amazing! We got pineapple flavor for filling and had couple of blueberry macaroons on top and the macaroons were to die for.. probably the best I have ever had. We also ended up getting some other baked goodies during our visit there and it tasted amazing.

This is my GOTO bakery for any cake. Period. Full stop. All natural ingredients for their in house cakes. No High Fructose Corn Syrup... YEAH! Just the good stuff. And it IS good! While you wait to order or pick up your cake, grab a wonderful pastry or slice of cheesecake to snack on. Been buying cakes from Simma's for 22 years, starting with our wedding cake, all the way through through my youngest daughter's birthday and wife's birthday last month! Very good bakery. Our wedding cake was from here (cheesecake) and we had zero regrets. Beyond that, the traditional bakery is more geared towards desserts rather than breakfast items. My daughter has a degree as a pastry chef but didn't have the energy after the Hoopla of Christmas to make a birthday cake for her babies first birthday. We decided to venture out and purchase a cake @ Simma's . The selection was plentiful and the prices for such quality delicacies was surprisingly reasonable! Great customer service . Their cake is very tasty and delicious but the customer service by one of the owners, I believe; was friendly initially but ended blunt and sharp when I asked if they had a slice of carrot cake! And he said : " no , that's a whole cake and that's all I got!

The perfect place for cakes, be it for a birthday, or a wedding. We've been coming here for two years, and the cakes have always been delightful. The perfect mix of soft, and sweet, the cakes retain their freshness even after a few days, and taste great. Be sure to order at least a couple of weeks in advance if you're looking for fondants, and figures on the cake.

We hired Simma's Bakery to do the desserts for our wedding. We had a cheesecake for our wedding party and mini desserts for our guests. The cheesecake was incredible (as usual), and the guests really enjoyed the mini desserts! All were delicious. Simma's staff were easy to work with, they gave very generous samples at our tasting session, everything was delivered on time and looked beautiful. We were very happy with all of our desserts!

When we got engaged, I knew I had to have a Simma's cake at our wedding. Simma's cake is truly the best; no other cake tastes just as good days later as it did on the first day you had the cake! Truly, my most favorite cake. We ordered a multi-tiered cake with chocolate and white cake with chocolate mousse filling. The bridal show special was a free cake stand rental which saved us $50!

It's a bakery. They really do wedding cakes wonderfully. Separate room for tastings. But a nice big entry area with a long counter of all the fresh-made bakery goodies you could want. We got our wedding cake here, and as it was our 5th anniversary this year, I thought I'd get an anniversary cake since we ate our wedding cake on our 1st anniversary after it had been frozen for a year. We were not terribly impressed with the new cake. Our wedding cake was delicious. This one was ok. It had too much buttercream filling and not enough raspberry jam filling or cake. The cake itself was a vanilla genoise, which was delicious. We would have been thrilled with slightly thicker cake layers and about half the interior buttercream.

One week before our wedding the owner called me with several issues. Couldn't find my deposit, which I was certain I paid. No prob. Paid again. Later she called back and said ck found! And tossed it. BUT that was frustrating enough, she told me they no longer do cake pops! Too labor intensive. (Ordered 6 months earlier). We finally settled for only three flavors, minimal decor. (Originally ordered 5) Still tasted great but stress one week b4 wedding was not good.

I first had their cake at a few weddings I worked at and I always had to ask where it came from. Simmas. I then vowed that this would be my wedding cake too lol! They are so good! And their cheesecake - to die for. It's decadent and rich but not overly sweet! The tiramisu cups are something I would not recommend but I will be back for my birthday!

And most importantly nothing has changed about their bakery, which is absolutely some of the best you can buy anywhere. Their cheesecake is a must-try, but don't overlook some of their other specialties. In particular their carrot cake and red velvet cakes are absolutely great. If you happen to need a wedding cake, they do a great job with that as well. Excellent communication and fair prices. Zero complaints, and I can recommend Simma's without any reservations whatsoever. My husband and I had Simma's for our wedding cake this past weekend. We can't say enough about how gorgeous and delicious it was. We had their famous cheesecake as well as a yellow sheet cake, with whip cream and fresh strawberries between each layer, and topped with a chocolate ganache. They were also very accommodating respecting our request to attach a sheet to the top of the box at delivery so we could make sure we took home all of the pieces that needed to be returned to them. In 2010 simmas baked us our wonderful wedding cake. A 3 tier marble, raspberry mousse filling, with white chocolate genoise on the outside. Best cake ever. For 9 years for my wife’s birthday I’ve been getting the same exact cake. One time they made a mistake and made a chocolate cake instead of marble. The cake was still fabulous but wasn’t what we always got. Last week I put in an order for the cake again. I was to pick it up Wednesday but so much was going on I called them that morning and confirmed if the cake was finished and if I can pick it up Thursday morning instead. I spoke to a woman and she said all is done and Thursday morning would be perfect. I get to the bakery and asked for my order and sense something is wrong. I waited 30 mins and 2 employees stated they don’t know where my cake is. Their conclusion was either the cake was misplaced or they never made the cake. How does this happend even after I’ve purchased the cake and called and confirmed it was made a day prior. I was given a total refund and a cake on the house but not one I really wanted. I will still continue to purchase a cake every year for my wife’s birthday and ask that Simma’s will learn from this experience and that it will never happend again.

We had guests say that they don't even like sweets, but this was the best thing that they ever tasted. I drove down from Cedarburg (about a half hour ride) for the chocolate mousse cake. That's how awesome this bakery is. It is pricey, but when you make cakes, tortes, and assorted bakery the old-fashioned way using quality ingredients, you don't mind paying for the privilege of great tasting treats! The bakery has a small Café area where you can enjoy what you purchase. Be forewarned - weekends are extremely busy. But remember - it's worth the wait! Call ahead and prepay for cakes, etc. and you can walk in and go the prepaid line.

WEDDING REVIEW: This is a very mixed review about our experience with Simma's for our wedding. We did a sweets table with about 450 mini desserts, as well as a small cake. Starting out with the pros, their desserts are delicious! We had a ton of people at our wedding complimenting the desserts, and asking where we got them from. Now the cons: They were terrible to work with. We had a really bad experience with the wedding consultant we had. She was always short with us, rude, and very impersonal. While all of our other vendors made us feel special and taken care of on our wedding day, she never did. In fact, rather than take care of us, Simma's actually added a ton of stress for more than one reason. 1) We purposely did not rent stands/displays from them because we knew we would not be able to return them (we live out of state, and left town the day after the wedding). However, in our last call with our wedding consultant, she informed us that there was still a piece we would have to return. She waited until a week before our wedding to even mention this, so we had to scramble to find someone who could return it. 2) Simma's does not set up the desserts. It is not even an option you can pay for them to do. This was shocking for us to find out, because most other bakeries would have handled the delivery and set up. This meant we had to also find someone to set up the desserts, since they were being delivered 2 hours before the ceremony, and the wedding party and families were busy with other things. Overall, I would have a really hard time recommending Simma's to anyone for their wedding. For everyday desserts, they are great, but to work with on a wedding, was not a good experience.

We are appalled by the customer service we received from Simma’s. We booked with them 6 months ago for a wedding in July 2018. Just this morning, we received a phone call that Simma’s will be closed during that time and they have now cancelled our order. We are less than 7 months from the wedding with no cake or sweets table. During this phone call, they made no effort to correct this mistake. Turns out, they close down that time of year every year but failed to figure this out until now. They have now made it our problem to resolve and offered no suggestions or help. We would have appreciated a call from the owner or even them working with a new vendor we selected to ensure they could duplicate what we had ordered. There are a number of ways they could have handled this to make this situation better but the way they chose to inform us just made everything worse. We had been so excited to select them as a vendor and so loved their food but now we will never work them again. UPDATE: we just received a call from the owner who offered an excellent solution. Something we would have expected to receive when we first heard this news. We appreciate her call and chance to discuss our options - much better service.

Simma's is my "go to" place for cakes for all occasions. They're cakes are fantastic and the service and staff are always kind happy and helpful! Couldn't ask for more in a bakery, it's a special place! Parking can be a little tight so be patient and come with a little extra time to get that sorted. The bakery staff park far away to make sure that you can have as much opportunity to find a spot as possible. But believe me it's worth the tiny negotiation of finding a spot. Much of the parking is parallel curb parking on busy streets so be prepared and try to be courteous and take up only what space is necessary so even more people can enjoy this gem.

FYI this place is very busy on Mother's Day if you don't want to have to stand around and wait in line I strongly suggest you preorder your cheesecake then all you have to do when you get there is go to the pickup line. This visit was to pick up a cheesecake for a friend for his mother on Mother's Day. Street parking only which depending upon time and day of week, also if it is near a holiday street parking is very problematic if you are disabled like me.

It pains me to have to write a negative review for Simma's because they have amazing quality in their cakes, but the service has always been extremely poor nearly every time we've gone there. They will probably not have your cake ready on-time if you order ahead (which is the point). They will probably not have the writing on your cake done, and they'll rush the job last minute and probably miss details that you requested on your cake styling. You'll also have 2-3 times the wait time of their walk-in customers. These things have happened several times for myself and my family. They did not offer any discount on our cakes for their mistakes... They've had ample chances and blown every one. I really hope someone in their management can shape up their operations. UPDATE: The owner personally called me the day after the incident took place to apologize. She reassured me she would talk to her staff about what happened, and to educate them on what they could've done better. She also offered me a gift card. I am quite pleased she reached out so quickly, and actually cared about making things right. I'll definitely be returning! NEWEST UPDATE: Unfortunately the call from the owner was too good to be true. I never received the gift card which was offered to me over a month ago now. It's pretty obvious they don't truly value their customers as actions speak louder than words. I will not be returning and will warn others to steer clear of ordering anything custom made.

I think it's important to give credit when people have done well, so I just wanted to assist in making sure Simma's received the appropriate rating for going the extra mile for their customer. Now, I haven't been to Simma's in years, but I was looking for them specifically because when I was working outside the home, I recall they had something like an Amazing Morning Bun that I've never found anywhere else. Unfortunately, I didn't find it on the menu so I don't know if they still carry them or if that was even the name of the product I am looking for. I just know that we used to put in a large order at least once a year for the office and I am craving them at home now.

Wedding cake was delicious . No complaints about the taste. It’s the rental of pieces that hold the cake that need to be addressed and clearly made aware of during contract Signing. Visualizing what a lucite dish is that they will charge you $75 for if not returned. Dowels ... placed under each cake tier and the wood board under the sheet cakes. We thought we returned everything ... returned plates but not the lucite one. No clue what it was... never saw it. The venue doesn’t recall it... make sure you see all the rental pieces of the cake you must be responsible for. Why they can’t use disposable plates I have no clue, A month later I’ve finally got my deposits returned minus the $75 for the mystery lucite plate.

Simmas is best in the state and out of state ! My in-laws drive l the way from Rockford for some Simmas bakery! We even got our wedding cake from Simmas last year and they were delicious !! On weekends be prepared to stand in line for a while. Best is to order in advance over the phone and prepay. Almost no line to pick them up. HEAVEN. Everything you thought was wrong with your bakery bought elsewhere, that stops here. Rich, moist, flavorful. Just pick out a $20-30 box and try to ignore your expanding waist line because these treats are worth the calories. Real whipped cream, ofc, they even have Tres Leches on occasion that is one of the more amazing vanilla options. Tarts, cakes, cheescakes, ganache icing, bars, cookies, cupcakes. They even had a strawberry rhubarb crumble one week during the summer. If it's a nice day outside on a weekend, be prepared to wait in line.

The location is nestled in a very quaint part of Wauwatosa (waa-waa-toe-sa for you out of towners) across the street from an excellent pizzeria and one of my favorite places to go for coffee (colectivo) in this area. The staff at Summa's are courteous and knowledgeable, this place can get pretty packed depending on what day and time you come in. But know that you will be helped in an orderly fashion! Whether you are looking to have something made for a very special occasion or you want something divinely sweet for a Tuesday this is a wonderful place to fulfil those desires. Can't recommend this anymore than I already have so now it's time for you to mosey on over and check it out yourself you'll be glad you did!
