Yum! Love love love their bakery! They carry Badger Ham, which is smoked less than a mile from Grebes. Good stuff. Do not miss going here. Closed Mondays and may have some limited hours so call ahead.

I haven't had Grebe's Bakery in YEARS. Today one of my co-workers picked up some cookies. As soon as I seen the yellow frosted smiley faced cookies, it took me back 20+ years when my grandma would take all of us grandchildren to the Grebe's in South Milwaukee to all get this cookie. During lunch I grabbed one & WHOA same exact recipe that brought me right back to my childhood. With my grandma having passed away years ago, it made me emotional and took me right back to all of those wonderful memories we all shared together at your bakery. :)

The doughnuts and pastries are world class and if you are looking to experience a true Milwaukee tradition, this is THE place to get Sunday jam and rolls. You will likely have to be patient as there is usually a line but that goes to show their reputation and believe me, the wait is worth it.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Honeymooner: In 1937 Grebe's Bakery was born in Irene Grebe's home kitchen. In the 1950's Jim Sr. Gebe took over operations and began selling products to area supermarkets. Today the bakery is in its fourth generation of Grebe owners. Grebe's distributes their doughnuts to Milwaukee area Speedways, so I was fortunate enough not to have to make the full commute to the actual bakery this time around (though I can tell you the place is a sight to behold). The October Honeymooner of the month is Pumpkin Cheesecake and isn't it beautiful!? Grebe's official description is a "Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese Buttercream Filled Honeymooner dusted with a Graham Cracker Crust Crumble". The dough was flavorful, fresh, and perfectly chewy (it's a yeast/raised doughnut). My doughnut had plenty of icing and a generous dollop of the buttercream frosting in the center. It's on the spicier side (which I historically don't like), but it's not an in your face overpowering spice. It didn't exactly conjure up cheesecake in my mind, but it was a phenomenal pumpkin spice doughnut. I'll be grabbing some more before they vanish like a ghost after the 31st. Lovelovelove this place. I stopped by around 11:30 AM on a Friday and had to park on the street. I didn't wait more than maybe five minutes though. There was still a pretty good selection. I got a cake, some donuts, and a coffee cake and everyone enjoyed them. Highly recommend going earlier in the morning as the selection will be better. They had a themed donut the last couple times I went, one was a lemon-lime margarita type of flavor and the most recent was some type of blueberry. I think it's just one special donut per day, but I'm not sure how often it changes. I don't get to go as often as I'd like since I live outside Milwaukee county.

I really love this place. Fresh donuts with classic favorites and a rotating selection of monthly specials. Hot coffee. Everything is reasonably priced. The servers are fast and friendly, even when there are many people to serve at one time. This has become a regular stop for me a couple times per week.

I have only been at this location once. It was a quick in and out, so I can't give higher than three YET. Now their food say cookies bread and donuts I can give a solid 💯 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. I've had those at other 3d party locations this bakery distributes to. I have also made the mistake of allowing my husband to bring these cookies to the holidays 🙃. My BIL keeps bugging me to bring more. No other seems to be cutting it these days. Now, from my quick in and out, The lovely lady behind the counter was a sweetheart from the start. Big smiles and a lovely personality from hello to goodbye. Everything looked neat and clean food clearly labeled. Everyone was quick and efficient. I will update everything in the coming months. With Father's Day and Easter coming up, they're advertising hot ham and rolles. I will update in the coming months.

This place has the softest, most delicious donuts around!! 5 stars for the donuts for sure!! We saw people raving about the hot ham and rolls so we tried it twice, but both times we felt the ham and the rolls were too dry. Also a bit disappointed that after standing in line, there were several varieties of the donuts sold out by 10 am.

I discovered grebes crullers when I moved to Franklin. Sendiks sells them under their label but one Saturday a Grebe family member was at the store pitching their product. Once I had the producer name I was able to locate other stores who carried their products. I knew eventually I had to visit their store which is not in my normal shopping radius. Call my desire to visit a new item on my bucket list 😉. Check! We visited on Sunday and took advantage of the hot ham and rolls, and a bag of crullers. Mmmmmmm

Today was my first time actually coming to the bakery. The donuts were fantastic. My only issue was we came for apple fritters but they were already sold out by 10:00 am. I've had their donuts on several occasions which we bought at speedway. I did go back to speedway after leaving grebes for apple fritters. They were also selling hot ham and rolls which smelled amazing. I'm not sure if I'll drive distance to go back to the bakery. I feel the donuts at speedway were just as good.

Staff extremely slow to fulfill order & immature & inappropriate behavior behind the counter. One staff member thought it was funny to pop down behind the slicer to hide from customers, and then she grabbed another staff member as she whisked by and said, "that's called black rage". Also, they claimed their slicer was broken for shaved ham but they could "slice it as thin as possible". My impression was that they just did not want to do extra work to shave the ham. Very disappointing experience & unpleasant atmosphere. Place has gone downhill.

Love, Love, Love the donuts, cake, and ham w/ free rolls. They freeze SO SO well. I buy 5 dozen for my dad and 3 dozen for mom and me. (of course I call ahead by few days) Freeze them in Ziploc freezer bags. Pull bag out day before and ready to eat in morning. YUMMY!

This is a truly old-school bakery and somewhat deli. Affordable, tasty, quite possibly the best donuts anywhere, you'll find nothing organic or trendy but everything delicious and classic. Custom sandwiches, many kinds of (especially white) bread, deli meats and cheeses. Opens early and closes early, this is breakfast or lunch only, and the variety in stock dwindles a bit as the day goes by.

We've been getting Grebe's for decades. Curbside pickup of our favorite hot ham and free rolls has been very convenient. Unfortunately, all the donuts we ordered this past time tasted like stale day-old bakery. Could it be because we ordered online the day before and they packed the baked goods immediately? Wheelchair accessible parking but cant really get into the doors w a wheelchair unless someone helping you & takes a little maneuvering. Food & sweets are fresh as usual. Ham special is great & hasn't changed. Need workers to speed it up littl bit, and keep masks OVER THEIR NOSE! but they were good at keeping an eye out for who was next in line. Decent prices & good food! Been goin there for years & will go there again.

Grebe's Bakery has been in Milwaukee for a long, long time...since 1937. This little shop is set back off the road but is well worth the stop if you are in the area. There is a fair amount of fresh baked goods and you can order custom cakes, etc but it is the mini-deli that is the best reason to stop here. The meats are fresh and not the fatty stuff you get elsewhere. For example, the corn beef on rye is a dry corn beef. They offer 14 different types of fresh meats for the sandwiches as well as a veggie option. There are 12 different types of bread for your sandwich, 9 different cheeses and then a variety of extras to top off your creation. For being such a small building, there is a lot of variety. Each day they offer different hot meals for lunch too. The staff is friendly and helpful even when it is very busy. The entrance is easy for handicapped people. The only down side is there is no seating so everything is carry out.

A baker's dozen and the 3lb. ham special are the best form of worship one can do on a Sunday. Get there at 10am and miss the crowd. You can wait up to an hour at peak times. Great ham and rolls too. We drive 45 minutes round trip to get our fix and its well worth it.

Great bakery friendly staff good coffee. I loved all the stuff we tried. Stopped to get a paczki and they only had a prune left I don’t eat prune but it was near Fat Tuesday and had to get one. It was delicious it surprised me. King cakes looked really tempting. I will be back whenever I’m around. Highly recommend this good old fashioned bakery.

A huge Thank You to the staff at Grebe's! We ordered 6 dozen assorted donuts to show our gratitude to 2 departments at St. Luke's. The baked goods were boxed perfectly, everyone was delighted to hear Grebe's had been delivered. Always happy with the bakery here. Tons of different selection (from Persians and Danishes to a classic long john and everything in between) that look awesome and taste even better. There are several staff people on hand to keep things moving quickly, and all of them are patient and friendly! Hot fresh Anodyne coffee is also a steal at just over $2 for twenty ounces.

Visited their booth at the WI State Fair yesterday. Had their Brown Sugar & Lavender Coffee. The flavor was subtle and delicious. ( normally i don't get flavored coffees as they often taste artificial or overwhelming. Not the case here ! ) Went back for their delicious crullers before leaving. During non pandemic times, we love this bakery. Great donuts and bread. I haven't done the hot foids in awhile, but always loved everything in the past. Good service. But, after what felt like total chaos today during pandemic times, we will wait till covid rules are completely over before we go back. A sign on the door said 10 customers at a time, but you can't tell the number of people till you're inside. No one was following that rule, we walked in as customers 10 and 11, as 1 person was walking out. Then 4 more people walked in behund us, I stopped counting. It was crowded by the counter, no way to do the 6ft rule. The gal who was helping us made us feel rushed, but we honestly didn't know what was available till we could get up to the counter. A sign of what donuts ate available would have helped. Overall, just to cramped right now for us, maybe will consider a pickup order.

This little shop is great. People were ordering lunch specials at one counter; others were ordering pastries at another. It's National Donut Day and they had a great deal for customers, and still had donuts at 1:30 pm. The parking lot is small, but there is parking on the street. Now the part you care about: the donuts are delicious! They are sweet-but not too sweet, light and fluffy, and flavorful. People looking for paczki on Fat Tuesday-go to Grebe's! They offer traditional and contest winning flavors; they are all worth it. Grebe's is active on social media. Their Facebook posts are frequent and worthwhile.

Historic bakery serving the community for ages. The bakery is well known by locals and produces good products. Sundays are traditionally hot ham and rolls days locally and Grebe's does this right. It's not uncommon to wait 20 minutes or more after 8am for their ham and rolls. This bakery is one of 2 or 3 in the city that bakes delicious dutchie crust rolls.

Just found out they do preorder hot ham Sunday but that's the only thing unless you order at the time you call. There should be an express line for only ham on Sundays during rush hour. One of the TV screens to have a scrolling picture board with the items. Not sure what half of the things mentioned looks like. Line was ridiculously long. It was warm waiting with all the customers so no airflow very uncomfortable in the shop.

I have grown up eating Grebes and when I got engaged I knew I wanted them to make the desserts. They were so easy to work with and we even got to have samples of donuts that we’ve had a million times just to make sure :) Their selection is incredible! All my family and friends at the wedding were so excited when I told them Grebes was catering – the mini crawlers were gone in minutes! Grebes tastes amazing and they are so cost effective and don’t up charge just because it is a wedding!

I know grebes is known for their bakery which is superb. Doughnuts and breads galore, but a hidden gem inside grebes is their sandwich and hot lunch menu. I am partial to the sandwiches. For a gourmet sub you pay less than 5 dollars. This is deli quality meats and cheeses, fresh baked breads, and quality condiments. For under 5 dollars! It's my favorite sandwich in Milwaukee county and it's cheap what more could you want?

In a utopian world, Grebe's would be the only bakery allowed to serve their sweet treats. I grew up in a small town with a small town bakery in it. They had great doughnuts there, but these - these blow the home down place out of the water! You don't often find a place like this anymore, especially with all the chains now. What you will find here are some of the most filling and tasty doughnuts around. And when it comes to substance, these are what you want. For the same price as the skimpy air filled doughnuts of some other places, you get some great, dense, filling doughnuts. Plus, order 12 and get a baker's dozen! Oh, and when it comes to getting all the doughnuts - the staff here are real pros at keeping track of how many doughnuts are in your order already! They are very patient when you work through your selection... if you are anything like me - it can be a little stressful making the right selections! To make things go more smoothly on busy days, they have a ticket system in place. Even when it is packed here, they seem to keep things moving along at a pretty quick pace!
