I could go to breadsmith every day. My favorite is the almond poppyseed muffins-especially when they're fresh! Their hours are a little inconsistent with the website (said open Sundays online but specifically not open when I showed up) but I am okay with that considering the food is incredible. I will be back many times!

I am a very regular to this bakery! Just love the breads, would say best in WI in what I had so far! This Sunday, I just came 8 mins late due to traffic and tried to ask the personnel in the store to help, she just pointed out at store timings even without opening door from distance!it felt very awkward and rude ! I had to head back with lots dissatisfaction and had to drive up to white fish bay branch which was almost 5 mike's from this and back to home would be extra 8 miles ! Just a suggestion being in downtown and being main branch, closing earlier ( 2pm) is not recommended!

Outstanding breads at a really great price point. Always have tasted very fresh. They have a style of a sort of more baked outer layer, that isn't hard, and just perfectly chewy. Not sure what that's called or a better way to describe it, but it's really great, and you should try them if you haven't.

BreadSmith is one of our go-to bakeries, each having some things that we thoroughly enjoy. Here, it's any of their scones and several of their breads, all of which are tasty so you can't go wrong.

Google mistakenly had their closing time an hour later but when I called the woman working still let me in to purchase two loaves. Incredibly nice considering she had no obligation. Fantastic service and great bread. UPDATE (4/9/2020): Still great service! They are still being amazing purveyors of bread, even through this COVID-19 pandemic. I especially appreciate the gentleman behind the counter (never caught his name). He has always been patient with me when I can't make a decision on the type of bread. If the owners are reading this, he deserves a raise!

I came across this place while getting lunch meat for soup and sandwiches from the grocery store. The bread was amazing. not sure what I got.. something for sandwiches. It was a $1.40. Probably the best bread I have ever eaten in my life. It comes seasoned already so if you make sandwiches for lunch as I do, it really makes it a way better lunch experience for the same price as the sandwich bread from the grocery store. Highly recommend with a soup or chowder. Although I found the price for baguettes to be a bit high.

I have been searching for a baker that makes bread that tastes like what I grew up eating. I think I finally found it. It's not exactly the same, I think the yeast is a little different maybe, but it's so close. It seriously brought back memories of my grandparents that I forgot were even there. I even told the gentleman about my heritage and the unlikely chance that his bread would be what I was looking for. I'm eating my words. I can't believe I'm ranting about bread, but wow.

It's fresh bread, what's not to like? Buy a loaf of sourdough, makes some toast with it, and enjoy heaven on earth. Seriously, no butter, no jam, nothing - just toast the bread and try it. I've been thinking about it all week.

One of the best bakeries in Milwaukee. You can find special bread 🍞 for each day ... ( try ciabatta kalamata olives on Sat.) ... if you are planning to have coffee somewhere in Downer ... go here, buy a scone and then go to buy your coffee ... it deserves the walk 😋 ... they also sell pizza dough ...so you can prepare your 🍕easily 😉 …

My daughter brought the sliced rye for Christmas and it's the best rye I have ever eaten. Will being driving an hour to go get this bread, but it is so worth it.

Pretty decent bread but pretty expensive. I would get bread here again as a treat for myself but I wouldn't go regularly

Absolutely best bread in town!!!Being in the food business myself, I'm impressed by the quality and consistancy visit by visit, year after year. Highest reccomendation.
