Reviews of Wiltshire Pantry Bakery and Café - Highlands
The coffee was average, but the food was pretty good. My top choice (cheddar/chive/egg biscuit) was sold out, but I enjoyed the lox bagel. My partner got the kotti(?) wrap. The chocolate croissants and the butter croissants looked enormous! Unfortunately, there's so much you can try and eat in one sitting. Masks were not required for customers, but staff wore them. I would love to stop by this bakery again if I were in the city.
I had a bit of free time so I figured I’d check it out for the first time, and I would definitely come back! They had a bit of space for people to hangout inside and outside, and the staff was very friendly! It was my first time there so I appreciated their patience.
I bought some freshly made challah bread, a chocolate chip espresso muffin, and a personal strawberry balsamic pie. All the pastries looked so fresh and amazing, and I would’ve probably bought more if I didn’t have to rush out.
Would recommend if you love a good pastry!
First time here and I will definitely be back! I had the vegetarian quiche and let me tell you it was the best quiche I have ever had and I am of an age where I have had many quiches over the years. The quiche here was melt in your mouth good. I also took a pastry bun home and shared it with my husband later. It was delicious and very buttery. Wonderful light breakfast place. I saw lots of to go orders and there is not a lot of seating so I understand.
I love living in walking distance of this café! Great coffee, an impressive selection of fresh, delicious pastries. Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. They also offer some lunch items, though I haven't managed to try those yet. Fast, professional service. A lovely place whether you want to stay a while or grab breakfast on the go.
Had a great experience. Very clean and modern interior design. All the bakery items were worth the price
Service was very friendly and food was worth the wait. Per another local guides recommendation, we got ham and cheese croissant along with quiche, salmon lox bagel and a tasty scone. Everything was good, the croissant was my favorite. The place has a quaint atmosphere and seems to have loyal regulars.
Yummy pastries and salads. ("Pop tarts" are my fave!) Cozy and warm atmosphere. Lots of seasonal flavors. Never boring. Off the beaten path. A true gem. One of Louisville's best places to eat!
Wiltshire Pantry is the best lunch spot and bakery in the Germantown area. The food is a combination of classic baked goods + dishes with more innovative flavors and textures (like a curry chickpea salad sandwich with pickled beets 😍). I've never eaten something from here that I didn't love. The staff are also very kind and consistently go out of their way to accommodate customers' requests.
This place has the best baked goods in louisville. I would HIGHLY recommend one of their pop tarts, as well as the ham and cheese croissant. But, honestly, I have never had anything I didn't like from here.
Changed my tune... Went today and loved it all. Good eats, service and hanging outside spots. Nice changes!
Wiltshire Pantry Bakery and Cafe Highlands is a step into everything I want in a cafe. Their website beautifully displays what you’ll experience. The corner-seated establishment boasts a warmth from the sunshine filtering through the windows to the very delicious offerings at hand. My choices for breakfast were all perfection. To start, and the reason I knew this place was for “me”, pumpkin molasses cookie. It’s already been sampled, enjoyed, and saved for later. Their LATTE!!! I really don’t sit and savor coffee, but am taking my time with this. Body and taste is sensational. I take mine plain with whole milk. The Meat Quiche boasted sweet potato in addition to bacon, and the crust just took it to a whole other level. The flakiness of the pasty really takes off with a-go in the oven. I baked my slice in a loose piece of foil 10-min at 350. The crust crisped up in such a way it gave a mouthfeel of caramelization. PRISTINE!!! All this said, I wholly enjoyed my breakfast experience and will be returning to enjoy their San Gennaro Sandwich and maybe a slice of pear/cranberry crumble pie or baklava cheesecake. I need to be decisive so I don’t order for a crowd, thank you to the Wiltshire Pantry Bakery and Cafe Team at Highlands, keep on!
Love the lunch stuff usually. Ham
and cheese croissant is a good
choice. Not the best place to
bring the coffee snobs in your life- its
just okay.
Nice place, very COVID-safe. I have heard great things and I've been dying to go. Food is a little pricey for my budget so this wouldn't be a daily or weekly treat for me, however I did enjoy the food. Very fresh and the crew was incredibly friendly.
Loved the chocolate croissant! Coffee is decent. All around great pastries
Ordered lunch to go: bean soup and steak sandwich. Nice quinoa salad. Pop tart was amazing as always.
Spectacular selection of fresh pastries, some classic favorites like turtle brownies and chocolat chip cookies, some unique treats like honey spiced cookies and Togerashi Egg breakfast sandwiches.
Had the Duck Sausage ragù with scratch made pasta for lunch, better than most Italian restaurants I've had. Partner had the star of Africa tea and a piece of their cheasecake for dessert and raved about it.
Staff was friendly and welcoming. Quaint and homey atmosphere.
As you can I couldn’t resist to bite the Maldon Chocolate chip cookie! This place is so warm and welcoming. I was introduced to so many treats and meals. Moderately priced and sweet baked goods! Would I come again? Yes.
We had Wiltshire Pantry cater the dinner and dessert for our micro-wedding this weekend. They were phenomenal! The staff were efficient, independent, and kind. They left the kitchen better than they found it. They went so far as to move all of the rugs in our kitchen and swept the entire room. The food was delicious. We have consistently heard from guests how it was the best wedding food they have ever had. They packaged up all of the leftovers for us, and we were so happy to find them in the fridge the next day to enjoy. They did an absolutely fantastic job, and I am so thankful to them. We will be using them for any and all future events!
Delightful little bakery and catering spot with top notch nosh. Stopped in for a cuppa and a bite. Lattes, espressos, pastries all so good. Keep up the culinary culture, y’all;)
Nice little bakery/cafe. Slightly disappointed at having to send my biscuit back to have the egg be warmed up, but other than that it was enjoyable. That chive biscuit was delicious.
Popped in during a rainy and windy morning. Ordered an icer cafe au lait, savory galette and a key lime tart. And wow! Everything was delicious. Cozy atmosphere. Amazing selection of savory and sweet pastries. Friendly and fast service. Very pleasant experience.
Crazy awesome selection of fresh pastry and hot sandwiches and brunch options. I'm from out of town but I would come here everyday if I could! The Smoked Salmon Scramble melts in your mouth and the Indian Kati Roll is mind blowing. Very friendly staff and awesome vibes.
We stopped in here last Sunday right before leaving for the airport and I have to say this was a very worthy extra stop before leaving Louisville. I love baking so I don't often buy baked goods but Wiltshire is one of those bakeries that brings their A-game so you just HAVE TO buy all the things, especially the things that are too intimidating for you to conquer in your own kitchen. Honestly everything was delicious, and I regret not coming here for breakfast (we went to Flora Kitchen nearby for breakfast and stopped here for extra coffee and pastries for the road). The only reason I took off the star is because their ordering/queuing system is incredibly inefficient (if someone is ready to order you should take their order not wait for the person who came in first but is STILL DECIDING, they need to move to the side...), and my iced coffee tasted a little strange - though it could be the fault of the flavored syrup, it might've been old? But something was definitely off. TL;DR: Definitely stop in here to try breakfast pastries!
Great little bakery/cafe! The food was fantastic & the tea was terrific!! ☕🥐 …
Lots of smiles. Friendly and cozy atmosphere. Clean FOH. Food was prepared well, was hot and delicious.
Went to the store on West Main a couple of times while in Louisville. Nice place to go for coffee and pastry. The coffee was good, but they won’t win any barista championships. They aren’t very good at foaming the milk with espresso drinks.
I ordered pain au chocolate off their menu. I was told that they don’t have pain au chocolate— only chocolate croissants. I understand that in the US, pain au chocolate is often called a chocolate croissant, but they should keep their menu and the pastry case labeling consistent.
Amazing little gem! We tried many things and all were delicious!
The menu at Wiltshire Cafe is exceptional. I have been eating at the Cafe since it opened and continued with curb service and take-out during COVID. The staff is respectful and welcoming to all customers. I feel this inclusion as an Africian American. I am greeted and recognized by the staff each time. When there is new staff, they are introduced to me and are told about my food preferences. I always enjoyed eating at all Susan Hershberg’s restaurants.
There isn’t an item on the menu that I’ve had and haven’t enjoyed. One of my favorites (when they have them) is the cheddar and chive biscuits.
Croissants are always delectable and go perfect with a cup of tea.
Love love love.
Indoor and outdoor seating options.
Ok so other than a slight vibe that they think you should understand how it works even if you've never been there before, once they realized we didn't, they were super helpful. I don't give 5s often. But this place is what small business America is all about. Food was awesome. Cappuccino was hot. Even had a lactose free alternative. Fresh and good. Wholesome you could tell this was quality ingredients. I was glad we stumbled upon it while trying to figure out where to have breakfast. Great service, friendly and they reminded us to come back. I really think if you are traveling through or live in town you really need to check them out. Impressive and unassuming at the same time.
Best place to have fresh authentic food. Truly a GEM!
You must visit this establishment the pastries are delightful, the food is delicious, and I am very pleased with everything I ordered.
Small spot with great flavor. I don't know what they do to the croissants but they are truly heavenly. I very much recommend trying it with some of their coffee. The quiche is also to die for! Went this week and will definitely be returning soon! Give it a try!
I live nearby Wiltshire, and I enjoy the food, beverages, and customer service. Really I'd like for this to be a 4.5 star review, because I only have one complaint. The challah is probably the worst I've had in my life. It tastes like a facsimile of a challah, almost as though it was baked by a gentile who had seen a challah before and wanted to imitate the look but had never actually eaten one. It has the knots, but it is dry and tasteless. It lacks the weight, chewiness, and sweetness of a good challah. Other breads are great. Wish this one could match the others.
Outstanding! These people know and love food, and it shows. Creative menu with vegetarian parity. Plus, very high attention to safety and quality.
An AMAZING place. Great food, great people. Founder-chef-genius Susan Hershberg is the best. This place has a HUGE heart.
The food is absolutely amazing here. The presentation is fantastic and there are lots of vegetarian options too! This location is on the edge of the quirky Highlands neighborhood of Louisville. It's not very big, so tables are at a premium and you order at the counter and carry your food to your table, and bus your own table too. It's worth the effort.
Wiltshire is quickly becoming my favorite breakfast restaurant in town. I like that their menu rotates by day of the week. I also like pairing a savory dish with a sweet pastry. The staff is friendly and brunch is tasty, hot, and fairly quickly served. My only complaint is that their coffee isn't the best and doesn't seem to be all that fresh. It would be awesome if they would pair their food and pastries with a local coffee shop's cafe.
Delicious. Customer service and food are outstanding. We stumbled upon this bakery shortly after moving into the neighborhood, and they accommodated a very last minute graduation cake request. Despite a goal to eat my way through all the baked goods Louisville has to offer, I find myself returning to Wiltshire over and over. It can't be beat!
Great service, eclectic menu, delicious food. Compostable flatware and cups +++
Strict covid-19 protocols that are very much appreciated.
I didn't give it 5 stars bc the menu didn't offer anything organic, and there was only one vegetarian option-- which btw, was scrumptious.
Other than that, I look forward to returning again and again for that same one vegetarian item on the menu.
I ordered two items, the beet salad and the Indian roll. Both were huge portions and delicious. The salad had a lot of pickled beets, cucumbers and avocados and a salad mix that was good. The portion size was double what I expected for the price and ingredients. The Indian roll was great. Nice curry flavor and the eggs were very soft and fluffy.
My wife had the biscuit sandwich which was also really good and espresso, which wasn't great but passable.
Awesome place, quick turnaround and a beautiful assortment of baked goods that we had to pass on because we're already fat enough.
Go there. Eat their food. Tell people.
my favorite place to grab a high quality pastry and coffee. always quick clean m and friendly
What a lovely little shop! Friendly customer service, beautiful interior, and wonderful selection of house-made breads, scones, pastries, and more. This was my first visit but I'm sure I'll be back again very soon.
The first of many visits to come! All-around spectacular from the friendly front of house staff to the amazing seasonal menu selections. The french toast of the day and lox and bagel were both wonderful.
Great food and atmosphere. Roast beef sandwich was very flavorful and unique. Even the pickle on the side had a new flavor! Kombucha is available as well as a nice selection of treats and coffees. Great location for a walk to neat shops (avoid Mondays for shop browsing though since most of them are closed). Will be back!
The wife and I come a couple times a month. The food is always perfectly balanced, never too sweet. Nothing compares to Wiltshire when speaking to quality.
2/12/22 Update: nothing has changed. This place is still the best bakery/lunch spot in Louisville.
I was very impressed with both the food and the atmosphere at Wiltshire Pantry. When I started following the cafe on Instagram and saw how delicious the dishes looked, I knew I had to give it a try. I ordered the Hippie Bowl and half a chicken sandwich and it was the perfect amount of food for lunch. Packed full of veggies and very fresh, the Hippie Bowl is the way to go! The iced tea I ordered was great too. Wish I'd had room for dessert! I'll definitely be back.
We ordered several Thanksgiving side dishes (cranberries, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts) and a couple of pies from Wiltshire Pantry this year, and it was, without a doubt, the best Thanksgiving meal I've ever had.
Never had a crumpet but now I have. Pretty good sandwich. Would go back.
Best local Cafe foods with delicious plant based and vegetarian/vegan options!
Good coffee, delicious baked goods, and a cute, cozy atmosphere.
The biscuit egg sandwich was wonderful. The line nearly out the door on the Sunday morning we went. The service didn't seem organized and I found that it was confusing identifying who to tell your order too. No one said: "how can I help you", we had to ask to be helped. If the service was better I would have given 5 stars. Their baked goods are amazing.
Will always go here when in Louisville. My kids and I love it!
And, in addition to the delicious food, I love that they use natural soap in their bathroom. They are earth and health conscious all around!
I don’t even know how to describe this cinnamon roll I just bought at Fleur de Flea. I’ve said Oh my Lord about 15 times and my husband is now making fun of me 😁. Thank goodness you are a few blocks from the office. Best cinnamon roll I’ve ever eaten. Wow! …
Had the meatball mushroom sub tasted good, not a lot of meat and quite oily. Real earthy food!
Friendly staff. Good chicken salad. I didn't try it but my wife loved the vegetarian soup. They need to install something to chain your bike to when you go inside. We had to eat outside while some guy eyes our bikes the whole time. Put in a steel bike post to attach a cable.
Employees super sweet. Very helpful. No wait. Looked like a nice quant place for a pastry and coffee. First visit, so I grab the pop tart Togo, as I was headed to a meeting nearby. The poptart was raspberry filled. Super cute. While the jam was sweet for me, the crust was amazing.
First off, they have a host of vegetarian options, which is delightful. I avoid sugar, but this place is my regular exception. I have a hard time making a decision about what to pick because really every dang thing they do is a work of art, but if it has pistachios or pistachio cream that usually breaks the tie. I will often get two or three pastries and cut them up to share with my coworkers. I was at a wedding they catered over the summer, and the food was nuts for that too.
I've never had a bad bite here.
The food is a bit more expensive than a typical place because it is of such high quality. I love it.
I would suggest starting off with a pastry and then ordering a sandwich and soup. Perhaps an iced coffee or tea.
Take a loaf of bread home because they will slice it for you. Louisville needs more places like this.
Even in the middle of the day after most of the window items weren't morning-fresh, I had a DELICIOUS tomato & cream cheese croissant. I also had the oatmeal cream pie which was beautifully spiced and close enough to the original that I tasted the nostalgia. Relaxed ambience & friendly folks.
The bakery portion made me,realize that I had never been to a real bakery before. Strange named delights that I had never heard of bkew me away with every tasting. The salads are the same way. If all salads were as unique, fresh, and flavorful then salads as a whole wouldn't have the reputation they do of being boring and unsatisfying. I could eat here everyday. One downside is the price, but balanced against quality it makes it 100% worth it.
I have never physically been to this place but the coffee shop down the street from me, Safai, is usually stocked with some of their sweet treats! I go almost everyday to see if they have any specialty croissants left because they usually sell out so fast! Seriously I could eat a million of these croissants. I'm sure I will stop in to the actual bakery sometime soon and highly reccomended you do too!
I love their pastries, and they know how to make a London Fog well. The prices are a bit steep, so we only go when we want a treat. The seating is not very comfortable, so I don't think this is the kind place you want to pull out a laptop and study for hours. But then again, I don't think it wants to be.
The coffee and breakfast is the best. I usually get the monsieur or quiche. They can make a simple thing much better. They seem to know how to build a dish and work the pallet. The taste makes up for the price and sometimes small portion but it's totally worth it. I like to pretend I'm a judge on chopped and Wiltshire is the winning contestant. My 5 year old requests we go get a muffin every Sunday.
I bought a two-day old challah bread with discount. It is still very good. One of the best we have tested in different places.
Excellent smoky corn chowder and chicken salad sandwich. Hippie bowl salad also was very good. The food here is always outstanding. A definite must for lunch or breakfast with great pastries
Our server was excellent. Wanted something of southern taste. She gave us recommendations. Menu has a great variety of different dishes. Food was excellent and the restaurant was clean and I love how they decorated!
One of my favorite places for breakfast when I visit Louisville! Everything is delicious, but I'm particularly fond of the egg sandwiches (and especially the ones with a sweet potato biscuit).
This place is always on point. The service is top notch and the food is fantastic. Some of the best baked goods in the city. If you haven't been you are missing out !
Delicious and unique food, coffee, and friendly service. Pleasant atmosphere. I’ve been many times and will be back many more! A true Louisville gem.
Wiltshire Pantry has fantastic creative pastries, croissants , cookies, pop-tarts, cakes and many other desserts. They also have some nice lunch options as well as daily juices made in house. The staff is friendly and inviting, definitely stop in for breakfast or brunch.
I MOST HIGHLY RECOMMEND WILTSHIRE PANTRY. We hired them to cater our daughter's wedding and from start to finish the staff was very professional. During the planning process they communicated in a timely fashion and understood our aesthetic vision for the wedding reception. Wiltshire made sure that all rental items were arranged, communicated with various vendors and helped us plan delicious appetizers, a signature cocktail, and dinner. We especially appreciated the 'farm to table' freshness of the dinner. Servers and bartenders worked very efficiently and professionally. In addition, the groom's parents arranged a lovely rehearsal dinner at the Wiltshire on Market Restaurant. I would describe Wiltshire Pantry as a Louisville gem!
Clean place with fast wifi. I only had tea, but it was good and hot! I wish they offered paper receipts, but I know that's not the "in" thing right now. Other than that, the staff was very friendly and helpful with signing onto the wifi.
Always a good idea.
I walked in here, today, to check this bakery out. The “Kati Roll”, a flakey “paratha” stuffed with a fluffy omelette and spinach, was a wonderful rendition on the Indian Kati Roll, kudos to the chef. The coffee (Safai roasters) and Butterscotch Pretzel Blondie we’re perfect too! I plan on bringing my family, friends and out-of-town guests in the future.
I have never had a bad experience here, and believe me, I've tried! I've arrived here drunk, naked, armed with nunchucks, covered in my own waste whilst screaming the Cat in the Hat in German in it's entirety, and STILL everyone who works here is pleasant, caring and helpful...the food is amazing and the coffee is great.
I will keep trying.
I would've given this bakery 5 stars if it weren't for the guy behind the counter asking me a personal question. I was honestly shocked he remembered the friend I brought along over a month ago. It was unprofessional and I replied back with the incorrect answer.
I will be sure to not bring my friends to this bakery.
My husband and I shared a ham and cheese croissant, a blackberry walnut croissant, and raspberry pistachio bread pudding with chantilly cream. Oh my gosh! Wish we could have eaten more! Absolutely delicious :)
I enjoyed Saturday brunch at Wiltshire Pantry Bakery and Cafe at the suggestion of a friend. The food and pastries were decadent, and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming — even on a busy, rainy morning!
Love it. Great pastries made in house not shipped in. Everything I’ve had there is excellent. Try the bacon and biscuits. Leave your carb watching at home!
We ordered the drive up Derby dinner last week.. so good! Definitely will have to try more of the their food and treats.
Very COVID-safe, max capacity enforced, easy to order ahead online and pick up. Great coffee and croissants.
Delicious bakery with tasty treats. Picture shown here is the Indian version of a breakfast burrito. Sooo good. Took the derby pie to go.
Its always a treat to come here for lunch. The soups and sandwiches never disappoint. The baked goods are to die for. I wish they were open for dinner as well.
Excellent food. Creative cuisine that is great take home. Unbelievable chocolate chip cookies too.
Best salad ever
The most special little bakery/cafe in town. Quality, beauty, flavor, and value. A true Louisville gem.
Cozy interior, delicious pastries, good service. The best place in Louisville. to meet friends over a cup of coffee.
If your morning starts here... you’re guaranteed to have a great day. A true staple in the Louisville food scene, their flavors keep them going!
Outstanding food, beautiful atmosphere inside and out and the service was amazing! Definitely go here or any of their other locations.
One of my favorite places in Louisville for breakfast/lunch. Food is amazing and their in house made bread and pastries are fantastic.
Everything is just so good. I miss living in Louisville for this.
Great light lunch options and a very comfortable European feeling bakery and treats. I can't wait to try more pastries!
Consistently one of the best lunches in Louisville. I love that they're always changing their specials, and they're always really good!
I can't say enough good things about their lunches! They are so unique and fresh! The pastries and desserts look devine!
Friendly, enforced mask requirement (thank you!!), and the almond croissant was amazing!
Everyone here is so nice! I love the pastries and the food is usually quite good. Love that this is in the neighborhood!
Beautiful treats that are delicious. Wonderful service. The Wiltshire Bakery is a lovely cafe. Recommended!
One of the best breakfast spots in town. Everything is amazing. If you are going to treat yourself, do it here.
I've literally dreamed of their pastries. So tasty! And their day old bread is just as tasty with a good discount.
Good lattes. True to form with no sweetener or syrups, but lovely latte art.
Nothing here not worth eating once, twice, thrice. This place makes me so happy!
The Shatshuka!!!! Love the food and the Stad of Africa tea. The atmosphere reminds me of my life in London so love it here.
Good food great people!
so many delicious pastry options (both sweet and savory!) - can’t wait to go back and try the homemade pop tarts
Stopped by on the way out of town and had my mind blown. Absolutely Ridiculous Quiche. Croissants were also amazing. Next level.
There food is superb always. Mushroom pot pie was amazing!
Amazing food and quick service. They are doing their part to stay safe and my food was bomb!
Best pastries in Louisville. The fromage blanc sandwich here is to die for. I never leave disappointed.
This place is well worth every moment you wait and every cent you spend. The best pastries... Anywhere.
Absolutely one of my top breakfast and lunch spots. Thoughtful, delicious and well presented.
This place is a true treat in Louisville! Whether you like sweet or savory, breakfast or lunch - this place is for you!
From savory to sweet, all of their pastries I've tried have been amazing.
Inviting atmosphere, great coffee, delightful pastries, tasty frittata and quiche, and expertly crafted salads and sandwiches with prime ingredients!
The chicken salad sandwich and strawberry coffee cake was great but $21 for that and coffee was a bit over priced.
Great baked goods, excellent coffee. Closest thing Louisville has to a European bakery.
Nice and cozy bakery cafe. Outstanding croissants
Everything from this place is great. Real quality ingredients with results you will absolutely love.
I love this place. It always has new pastries and I can never figure out what to get!
Love this place! Healthy food choices. Decadent pastries.
Excellent choice of very healthy and visibly appealing foods.. Great Earl Grey pie !
This place is a little pricey but nothing beats this bakery. Always try something new and it's always amazing.
The food is great, the atmosphere is great and everyone on the staff is great! Best challah in the city. :)
Salmon salad is amazing my favorite you should try it love it!!!

Great little place, awesome food, just a little tough to get a group bigger than 4
You get what you pay for. Expensive, but so we'll worth it. Atmosphere, service and food fantastic.
I don't like to think of my life before Wiltshire Pantry. It is my favorite breakfast and lunch spot.
I had a ham and cheese croissant and it was very good!
Excellent pastries and friendly service. Try the almond croissant.
The kids love picking out their breakfast items. Always a good selection
Just wow!! Love it there! So many great things to pick from
Everything here is wonderful! Local and organic, a but pricey, but you get what you pay for!
Just so good. What pastries and delights were meant to be. Try everything.
Great lunch and baked goodies
Insane chocolate pastry, nice lunches, good coffee and friendly staff.
Artisan breads are few in Louisville but this place does okay job with the paatrie
Chorizo omelette was delicious and their pastries are out of this world!
Great pastry items! Try it! You won't be disappointed.
It is a great place to eat. Everything about this place is just awesome.
I was invited here to have lunch. The service is very good and the place is very clean .
The sweet potato melt is very good!!.
Love the place but the overt political posters are just childish for a place that's trying to be a notch above.
Everything about this place is perfect! They do not miss a detail.
Lovely atmosphere. Exceptional staff and delicious food.
