These are the most DENSE donuts I've ever had. They seem to be more cake-like than fluffy, unlike a standard original glaze. Things you should know: I. SERVICE No complaints. Accomodating even when we walked in right before closing time. II. QUALITY Outstanding. The options are unique here. I will say, the old fashioned maple was the best I've ever had and the compassion fruit was fun to try IV. CAPACITY Empty since we arrived right before closing, but they still had so many options to take home

Very solid donuts! Happy to see this shop is 100% vegan friendly :) Out of the four we got (Nutella, Danish, polar berry, and strawberry) I probably liked the strawberry and Danish the most. Just a warning: these donuts are very sweet! Not cloyingly so but more than the average donut. They weren't as dense as another reviewer had mentioned - ours were super light and fluffy. Maybe other flavors have a more dense cake-like texture, but these were just like any other glazed donut. This location also has a great selection of vegan ice cream and shakes! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and craving something sweet.

We didn't realize at first that it was vegan. We stumbled on this place by accident and were so impressed we went back a second time (and we are not typically sweets people)! I had the Poppy Gandhi donut and it was amazing, my husband had the green tea- not as good! Then we went back for the x-ray milk shake....WOW!!!! For sure stop here when you are on Broadway, with an appetite!

My husband and I are in town visiting family and I had to leave a review because the donuts were insanely delicious. I didn’t even know they were vegan! The crème brûlée donut is actually the best donut I’ve ever had. I was also highly impressed with the service we received tonight. A young beautiful girl served us on this cold and rainy day and she was just the sweetest person the entire time. I really enjoyed her energy and kindness. It was all so refreshing.

Wow. What to say except I love this place. The angry Samoa, I think about all the time. If I was on death row and it was my last meal, I would choose to eat only three angry Samoa’s. I live in Colorado now, but I wish I could be mailed my favorite donut because it truly is a one of a kind. Plus this handsome guy named Andy makes the best coffee ever. Was so nice and friendly. I’ve never had a bad donut from this store, the corn ice cream I fantasize at night about. I just love the vibez. I miss going here, but I also don’t miss worrying about diabetes, so maybe it’s a good thing.

Delish! Got the Apple Fritter, Cream and Javabreaker donuts for Easter. Wish they had gluten free, vegan is great though:) The website says must order online, however when I got there people were walking in to the store and ordering so you can do this instead. They also had tons of vegan ice cream options which was great, $12 a pint. Slightly pricey, good quality.

Found out they throw away all donuts at the end of the night but if you work here. You might take home 50-60 donuts for free. I think there should be a late night discount or they could be given away for free. But I’m sure there’s some political food safety law that prevents that. There’s no parking as it’s downtown. Take Uber or train. There will be homeless people, obviously it’s DTLA. But it’s a vibe. They have lots of options for donuts and they can be extra pricey. You can pay $10 for 1 donut if ur not careful. They have cool branding and the donuts are good. Just don’t expect to lose weight from eating these! @ninjaxfang

The most amazing donut dessert spot for donut fiends and picky choosers. Add toppings to customize any donut you wish! They have all sorts of yummy unique toppings like chocolate chips, whipped cream, spices like cayenne pepper, fresh basil, fresh fruit - I even saw sriracha! Prices are listed on the displayed boards in super small writing. Milkshakes are $7.50 to $8.25, and a scoop of ice cream inside your choice of donut is $7.75. Steep, our donut came out to $8.40 for one scoop of ice cream. Although pricey, the dessert was heavenly. I didn’t realize how good warm fresh donuts creamy ice cream could be. Donut served in a box with a spoon. Presented in an Instagramable -fashion. The space is huge and bright inside. Well designed so that you make a beeline to the donuts. Open late and closed on Monday’s. Coffee and tea bar available. Limited street parking out front.

After having driven all the way to Highland Park in the past to try Donut Friend, I was excited to hear that they were opening a DTLA location. I was in the area a couple of months ago and stopped by. Compared to the Highland Park location, it wasn't quite as busy; that could also be because I went during the day, whereas at Highland Park I went at night. The donut selection is the same, aka really cool with lots of interesting varieties to try. This time, I was with friends and got some donuts to split, including my two faves the S'morrissey (s'mores) and the Fudgegazi (chocolate with more chocolate) as well as the X-Ray Speculoos (chocolate with cookie butter.) As always, they were delicious! Donut Friend is a great place to try if you are looking for an indulgent vegan treat. The DTLA location offers a convenient alternative to the Highland Park location for people seeking their donut fix.

No one in the family is vegan but me and all were surprised to learn that these donuts were 100% vegan :) after the wedding my family kept bragging about these amazing fluffy delicious donuts. They are vegan. I don't like vegan dessert. We order the Cinna Mineral and Strawberry and whipped cream inside. We aren't vegan, nor did we know this place was vegan. We were informed after we bought the donut and flavored the ice cream. The customer service was great. The ice cream was fire. It taste better then dairy ice cream. I wish they had bubble gum but well gums has non natural ingredients. But, It was delectable. So yes, non vegans and vegan get a scoop of ice cream. My favorite was Organge. I couldn't believe the cashier when he told me it was vegan. Then he said everything was vegan and I know the donuts wouldn't be great. The donuts were good to be vegan but as a non vegan I can buy a cheaper donut with the same flavor and add my own toppings. But for vegan you will be happy. It will taste good to you and for a good price.

The staff was Uber fun and exciting to be around when ordering from quite an exquisite plethora of donuts. While I tried not to be too greedy, it was mad hard to choose just one donut, my friend. So I didn't! I had a fabulous arrangement, indeed. The names of the donuts were pretty creative, my ultimate favorite was the Matcha one. I shall save the element of surprise for those yet to visit. There's a cool coffee side so that you don't walk out thirsty. I mean donuts need love too. I am such a fan of these donuts because of the flavors and the absolute deliciousness and joy they bring. It's amazing. You don't even know that it's vegan. Service is great donut quality is unbelievable. Yep it's a little expensive but it's very much worth it. If you haven't tried it or haven't been here then you're missing out on some of the best Donuts around and if you're into it don't sleep on the ice cream or coffees either!

This location is way friendlier than the Highland Park location and definitely lives up to their name! Much more welcoming environment. Their donuts are amazing but I tried their ice-cream for the first time and was blown away!!! Mint chocolate ice-cream was ahhhmazing!! Not in the best area was kind of scary walking around, a lot of transients, streets smell of urine and sewage, lots of drug use out in the open and just sketchy people.

Once you find a place to park and walk past all the homeless people on Broadway trying to get spare change, you find this really clean, modern vegan donut spot. I was hesitant when I read vegan on other reviews, but let me assure you, you will never know. Tried the peanut butter and jelly donut and wow, it is amazing. The maple old fashioned was very good as was the Boston creme recreation. The fudgegazzi is tasty, but it isn't as chocolatey as it looks. Highly recommend if you don't mind paying $3-4.50 per donut.

The donut I had looked good but was dry and not very flavorful. The staff was inattentive; one of them ignored me to helped the young, hip couple that came in after me. The decor and donuts looked cool, but it all seems superficial. No doubt this place is Instagram popular. Beyond the social credit and the appeal of vegan donuts (I noticed that they avoided the word "vegan"), you probably have better Friends to visit.

I finally made the trip downtown to get a couple donuts. Delicious donuts. A variety of flavors to choose from. I had the chocolate old fashioned which was very yummy. The peanut butter donut was really good too. Unfortunately parking is tricky and I got a 93 dollar parking ticket since the parking signs around the corner were covered in graffiti causing me read the sign wrong. So... I ate the donuts slow with a knife and fork in order to fully enjoy my hundred dollar treat. 🚗🚫🚓🎭🍩🍽️🤨

Unbelievable ! Beat donuts. I can't believe these are vegan. So delicious and soft and fluffy and amazing flavours. Well priced too. I kept them all day and they stayed 100% fresh from the morning til the night. Found a new fave !

After visiting the Grand Central Market, I came here for a dessert. I tried the Polar Berry Club donut, was sweet! A nice treat for all you that have a sweet tooth, but still want some fresh berries, excellent choice here. Service was spot on, workers are helpful and they help you understand how to pick and choose the donut and toppings. Atmosphere is good too, relaxing place, clean and tidy. Small line, but nothing major, maybe had to wait a couple of minutes, no biggie. Custom donuts and toppings, thinking outside of the pink dozen donut box, hahaha! Simply put, I do recommend this place for a nice treat, enjoy!

It seems they are open later than 3pm, we were going to Downtown Donut (which closes at 4), we got there at 3, but they were sold out so it was closed. We looked down the corridor and saw Donut Friend was still open, so we headed over there. I hadn't looked into this place at all, I had no idea it was vegan. The almond ricotta was a bit weird, I think it needs to be just a little sweeter (which is rare for me to say, I usually am always complaining things are too sweet hah). The other donuts we tried were very good, no complaints.

After being vegan for about a year, I thought my appetite had changed. Instead of craving sugary junk food, I craved whole foods and homegrown fruits. Simple smoothie bowls and healthy tofu scrambles became breakfast staples. I felt better than I ever had, and proud that I had risen above my American junk food diet. Then I went to donut friend. I relapsed. I had a taste for old-school, American dessert breakfast and my heart stopped. I bought 5. I didn't think I'd ever eat a real donut again, but donut friend gave me Ratatouille-style flashbacks of getting donuts with my father as a child. They were simpler times. I didn't know what I was eating and I didn't care. Blissful ignorance of the ingredients I was eating and the cruelty of the world I was growing up in. Stuffing my face with ungodly amounts of sugar and animal products. An ignorance I now pride myself on overcoming. But donut friend gave me the best of both worlds. I could blindly stuff my face with colorful, delicious sugar rings while knowing I was eating cruelty-free, modern vegan food. I shed a single tear as I sampled each of my 5 donuts, being unable to decide or commit to which one I liked best. Giving in to only my deepest primal senses and instincts. Donut friend gave me so much more than a sweet breakfast that day. It gave me a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Good service and atmosphere too.

Wow, a new donut shop, and with perks from the locals (they've left out Donut Friends for me [could they be called donut friends?]) - as donuts. Hmmpf. Perhaps. But the great thing about Donut Friend is that it's near by my pigeon-feeding spot on Broadway by between 5th and 4th? Or is it 6th? And okay, the pigeons are « not really « mine, for claimstaking ») but when I'm there, it's commonly a feature feast of delicious snacks. It'll be a beautiful development over many cultural epochs as the decades go on, I imagine (The Broadway District).
