Reviews of Hillcrest Little Bakery
The biscuits are fantastic. Very flavorful, yet not greasy at all. The hot chicken was spot on for a breakfast chicken. The only issue I had was that it could have been warmer temperature wise, as it seemed a little cool when served. Great place though.
Decided to treat myself to a quiet breakfast, enjoy some kindle reading time & so glad I finally got to try this great little spot today! It’s a cozy locale, not a lot of seating but they were very efficient & speedy, seemed to have a pretty steady pick-up business in addition to us eating in. I enjoyed my Hot Springs chicken & hubby did as I shared my leftovers later at home - that’s a lot of food! I really wanted to love the Fancy Biscuit but it was lacking a little “wow”. I do need to remember & ask for them to separate the components next time but that was on me for not paying attention. The iced coffee with vanilla, homemade pop tarts & blueberry muffin (brought baked treats home for breakfast tomorrow, but HAD to sneak a nibble) were also perfectly flavored & prepared. Will be back! The service was super speedy & efficient - definitely enjoyed it & look forward to going back for more menu tries!
*update - blueberry muffin was astounding, the homemade pop tarts were good.
Friendly wait staff and warm cozy atmosphere along with delicious food make Hillcrest Little Bakery a wonderful little gem in the list of local eating places in Little Rock. It’s a little bit like eating in your grandma’s kitchen. Breakfast is our favorite… Omelettes are wonderful and biscuits are ginormous.
If you have not visited here, you are missing out! Outstanding service, great location, good prices but all fall short to the amazing flavor. I’ve yet to have something there I did not like. And the owner is the kindest. Go check it out!
If I had a job where I started at 10 each day or later in the day, it would be hard to not eat here every day. Their staff is super friendly and courteous. The food is ... Amazing .... Like I can't put into words how great it is to have a reliable and amazing breakfast place in LR. My partner gets the Hot Springs Biscuits and Gravy. Which is biscuits covered in gravy, hot chicken, and potatoes. She's super picky about breakfast places and this is her go to. I have tried all of their pancakes offerings and all are excellent. Blueberry, Chocolate Chip, regular - the only hazard is the banana foster. It's good, but it is for people that like sweet things. It's almost TOO sweet, but if you're into that or sharing it - go for it. (The caramelized 🍌 is oh man good) the outside seating under the tree is gorgeous on spring/fall days and the inside is cute and feels homey.
Tucked away in Little Rock, I found this Hillcrest Little Bakery. Dont let the name fool ya, this place packs a punch.
This quaint bakery is known for its breakfast. If I didnt know what "rich" was, I learned today 😁. Everything is amazing, tastes wonderful, small dining but still offers a intimate feeling.
I couldn't finish the banana fosters pancake stack, but I gave a honest effort.
If are in the area, tell them BigDude sent you.
They won't know who I am but you may get free water.
Big dude approved 💪💪💪💪💪

Today was my wife’s and I first time going to the Hillcrest Little Bakery and it was amazing. The food was great and they made it fast even though they had a few customers ahead of us. They have great customer service with a smile. We are definitely going to go back and try some more food from the menu.
Simple done right. The pot coffee is fantastic. I had a fruit cup today and was pleasantly surprised it was actual fresh cut fruit (strawberries, bananas, blueberries) not just the frozen melon mix you see at most places! The only thing I would change is a little more heat on the hot chicken biscuit, but to each their own. Overall a very satisfying meal!
We had a nice little brunch here at HLB! I give it 4/5 stars based really on pricing and wait times. The prices were higher than your average local breakfast or bakery stop, and the waits (at least when we were there) were very considerable. The interior and exterior had some seating, but it did feel very cramped. Our food and experience, overall, was good though! The meats, great. The biscuits, to die for. Best of all, you're supporting a local business! Check them out next time you're in Midtown.
Stopped in for a very delicious breakfast. Biscuits are just like grandmas. Nice clean and quaint and cheesecake to go.
Best breakfast we've have out in a long time. They are very popular but it's totally worth the wait in line. We had the Hot Springs breakfast, I highly recommend it if you love a classic breakfast with a spicy twist. To sum it up they have fiendly service, great food and unique pastries.
My fiancé and I love HLB! We found out about it in September and it has been our “go-to” ever since! If you are in a hurry, I do suggest ordering ahead of time. Always super fast when we have a to go order! We do enjoy going in and eating there too, and the food is always amazing!
The food and service was excellent! I had the hot chicken sandwich and a pancake with Nutella and bananas.
The hot chicken sandwich was delicious.
My friends got the bowl with hot chicken, biscuits, gravy, and potatoes and they both loved it!
This time we tried the Bananas Foster Pancakes and the Acai bowl. Both were beautiful and super delicious! We finished it off with a turtle mini cheesecake which are my favorite. We love coming here and the staff is always friendly!
Our breakfast was amazing! We got the Hot Springs and it did NOT disappoint! Love supporting small local businesses….and making my mouth happy at the same time! Coffee is great, too!
Good atmosphere, nice little breakfast spot. Biscuits are not the greatest but it was a nice atmosphere like I said. The desserts looked yummy but it was kind of early to try them.
A must try! Staff was very friendly, place was clean and food was perfect. I tried the banana foster pancakes with a side of handmade chicken tenders. It was all delicious! Probably too much food for one person but that's not a bad thing.
OMG It was SO good. Huge portion too. I got the “South of Town” to go.
My friend and I tried out HLB and left happy! I had “The Heights”, which is potatoes covered with biscuits and gravy, bacon, and cheese. She had the chicken sandwich and fries, which she mentioned was super spicy. We were seated quickly and the place was full when we got there. Lots of people coming in for take our orders. Wish there would have been more bakery items, but we will be back!
Super cute atmosphere! Delicious food and friendly staff. We sat on the patio they have heat lamps if it’s cold and fun people watching from the patio as well *chefs kiss*
My toddler especially enjoyed the homemade poptarts! I loved all the options for a delicious brunch with my little family.
Wanted to add to my review!
We ordered curbside pick up today and were not disappointed! All the food we got (including eggs!!) traveled well. The food was warm still once we got home so I knew it was fresh.
Adding this place to the list of "good even to-go" local favorites.
And will be ordering more biscuits with our next order because they're seriously so good I could have had 10.
Delicious for and great service. The pancakes are delicious
Biscuits are the highlight here. Better than average breakfast joint. I will be back to try it again.
Just moved here and started venturing around. We wanted to find a good “greasy spoon” for breakfast. Super busy but worth the wait! Nostalgic of my papas scratch biscuits and my grandmas love of a great meal. Simple hearty delicious
Great little bakery! Limited seating but you can take it to go! Definitely worth checking out!
Stopped in on my way out of town on recommendation from my friend. I had a biscuit and gravy with egg/cheese/sausage. Very good. I was on the move so i couldnt salt and pepper it like i would have liked. The gal at the counter was super friendly. I even snagged 3 mini cheesecakes to bring home to my family.
What a great little place to enjoy a unique experience! They have multiple breakfast options. My first trip here I had the omlette and it was great. But I genuinely can't wait to go back and try out several of the other dishes, as they all looked truly delectable! It actually reminded me, a little bit, of Biscuit Love in Nashville.
Breakfast is good minus the old cheesecake they sold me. You can taste the lack of freshness. Stay away from the one with the white marshmallow stuff on top.
Great menu, with excellent breakfast choices anytime. Hot chicken is excellent!
The is place never disappoints. Perfect for a chill breakfast or something to cure the hangover. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Don't sleep on the homemade pop tarts, esp the one with Nutella filling!
The food is good but the coffee sucks (it's really weak).
Go eairly on the weekends it get packed.
DOG FRIENDLY 🐕🐕
Just excellent! Great clean restaurant and great staff! Very friendly! Very delicious!
Really yummy! Not a lot of seating but delicious breakfast food
Great little breakfast spot!
Always fairly busy (good sign) but it goes quickly. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. Most of all, the food is excellent!
Awesome Breakfast and atmosphere...their biscuits are killer..delicious
Every time we come to Little Rock we make a point to eat breakfast here! Their biscuit bowls are amazing. Somewhat limited indoors seating but they have extra tables out on the patio (with heaters). Already looking forward to the next visit!
If I could give them 10 stars out of 5, I would. Amazing. *chef’s kiss*
Went for the first time for brunch, the breakfast meal was amazing and the patio topped it off!
This place is amazing. Came here with my wife for a quick brunch, best breakfast food I’ve ever had. Parking is a little cramped, we actually parked in the bank across the street. But it is totally worth it.
The ambiance was cute and homey and the food was delicious! It was worth the long line and half-hour wait on a busy Saturday morning. I recommend ordering online if you don’t want to wait.
I ordered three biscuit sandwiches and coffees to go. The biscuits were DELICIOUS! So flakey and tasty. We got the Monte Cristo, the chicken biscuit, and the bacon egg and cheese. All three were great! We were stuck at the gas station with a flat tire, and I’m so glad this spot was within walking distance. If I hadn’t been eating on-the-go, I would have ordered the bananas foster pancakes. Those looked so delicious!
Small, Quaint spot. Very friendly staff. Didn’t wait long for food. It has a very “home” feel (probably because it looks like a house). My girlfriend ordered the Downtown and I ordered The Heights. Both dishes tasted amazing. Coming back for seconds!!! Highly recommend coming here. Lovely spot
My husband and I enjoyed breakfast here on our anniversary trip.
Coffee was good, banana foster was good but feel like it was missing something. My wife had the "Hillcrest" and said it was good as well. Overall I'd give it a 4.5 star probably, but there isn't an option for that. We probably will return and try a few other dishes. May change to a 5* after trying a fee other things.
Place is really really good. Very consistent, friendly staff, and great food. Their Hot Chicken biscuits are good and it’s really generous as far as portion. Their hot chicken Benedict is also really good. Their house made pop tarts were awesome and their key lime pie is INCREDIBLE. Definitely a regular spot for us
This is what happens when you focus on doing a couple of things very well. A must stop for BREAKFAST till 2pm! We'll be back. It's very nice to have such a great place for breakfast in midtown and hillcrest area.
The atmosphere is great for the location, and i can't wait to go back when the weather allows balcony service.
Service could be improved by giving patrons table flags, like at other locations, so staff have an easier time identifying where orders go during rushes. During my visit, my order came out pretty fast but the table next to us had ordered food just before and it could have been theirs. While this was a non-issue this time, it showed a weakness if they get hammered.
That being said, everything came from the kitchen fast, warm, and it tasted perfect. Definitely a must visit for anyone who hasn't tried it and worthy of multiple return visits to try more menu items.
Rain or Shine, Busy or Slow, this place never disappoints. Great food and great customer service.
Great food with vegetarian options! This is seriously my favorite breakfast in Little Rock. The best part is reliable curbside pickup!
Cheesecake was awesome and the strawberry “Pop Tart” was as well. I also ordered the Gobbler salad, which was fairly good. The only issue I had was that the tomatoes weren’t very fresh, so I picked them out. I’ll definitely come back for the desserts.
We had the South of Town breakfast on our first visit! Needless to say, we will be back!
Great food, great staff!
Parking was an issue but work the wait.
Absolutely amazing breakfast!! The eggs Benedict (my favorite) is simply perfect! Honestly my husband gets something different each time and no matter the meal it is always splendid.
Customer service by the owner Zara is top notch! It’s so refreshing to dine with someone who truly understands service and relationship building with the customer. We drive to LR just for breakfast here!
Hillcrest Little Bakery is my weekend go-to! Their food is always delicious and the staff is always friendly. The in-store environment is clean and fresh and their carry-out service is always reliable. 10/10 would recommend if you're a breakfast food fanatic.
I had a sampler breakfast. Everything is good except the overcooked scrambled eggs. My family shared hot chicken from her plate. It was good. I should have tried hot chicken with biscuits. The biscuits was excellent. I would recommend anyone to check out this restaurant.
Usually love dining here but this last time was a disappointment. There was a dead bug in my açaí bowl right on top of a strawberry that should’ve been caught by the staff before serving it to me. Food and service is usually good but I’m not sure I will return after this.
This was my first time at HLB and I will definitely be back! The staff were kind and welcoming, the restaurant itself felt like home, and the food was delicious! If breakfast is your thing, as it is mine, this is the place you! I got the South of Town which is a biscuit and gravy smothered in cheese and scrambled eggs topped with sausage patties (I asked for them to substitute bacon which was cooked perfectly crisp and crumbled on the top). A nice surprise was that there were breakfast potatoes underneath all of it! The portion was enough for me to eat half then and save the rest for another meal. Well done, HLB!
Absolute favorite breakfast place in town! We found this little wonder of joy a few months back, and have been addicted since. We get the bacon/egg/cheese biscuit, bacon/sausage/cheese biscuit, 2 large hot coffees, and an occasional muffin. TO DIE FOR! We go about 2-4 times a week now, and they are starting to know us by name... I would consider that a good thing!?!
Cute place to have brunch. The food was good and fresh and service was great.
So good! Had the avocado, tomato, poached egg, and HLB sauce biscuit with a side of breakfast potatoes. It was great. Cozy atmosphere and nice staff. Will visit again soon!
Awesome Breakfast.. Plenty of food for a hearty appetite! Favorite breakfast place now when visiting Little Rock......
Lovely!! Quick, simple, easy & delicious! Go in- Order, Pay then find a spot and sit to eat & enjoy your company! Btw- Biscuits and Gravy were YUM, but the Banana Foster Pancakes (!) definitely had to steal a bite from my friends plate. Did not dissapoint!
We had brunch there today on our day off. I had the Benedict and husband had the HLB sampler. Both were good. Coffee was also good. Didn't have any, but the scones looked really good too. People were very friendly and it was not overcrowded. We sat outside on the deck out front.
I absolutely love the concept and the menu.
The food was so delicious. I had The Heights, which was homestyle potatoes layered with the most delicious buttermilk biscuit I’ve ever had, topped with sausage gravy, cheddar cheese and perfect crispy bacon. Every single bite was fantastic. My husband had a breakfast bagel with egg, bacon, and cheese (not pictured.) In all fairness, after we ordered we were told they were training a new person in the kitchen so ticket times were running slow. But it was right at about 50 minutes. I’m really hopeful that the wait time will shorten, as I’ve been told this is common since opening.
For “bakery” to be in the title, there really wasn’t very many baked goods. “Doughnuts” are a featured mural outside and there weren’t any in the display. There was a pumpkin cheesecake and an Amaretto cheesecake (which was so divine and perfect!) there were about a half dozen muffins and puff pastries. I want to love and support them, so hopefully all of this will work itself out as they progress. I work in Hillcrest and would love to try them for lunch, but the Tuesday/Wednesday “closed” days has made that hard to make happen thus far. I will go back after the first of the year!
I’m totally kicking myself for not trying HLB sooner! We both got the Hot Springs biscuits and gravy to go for a lazy Sunday breakfast this morning and they were amazing! It was so hard to choose because everything looked fantastic. Today was pretty rainy and ugly, but I’m looking forward to getting some breakfast on the patio soon. We’ll definitely be working HLB into our rotation.
The only thing I would like to see is a basic iced coffee option. I know commercial espresso machines are expensive and craft lattes are an undertaking, but just having the option for some basic cold coffee with sugar or creamer would go a long way, especially when the weather warms up. I would totally get one with my breakfast every time!
Thanks to the Hillcrest Little Bakery crew for being wonderful and weathering the COVID-19 storm!
The BEST pancakes I've ever had. We got the banana foster ones and they were so fluffy and flavorful. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. Loved the decor. This place is the hidden treasure of Hillcrest. 10/10 recommend.
We live in Hillcrest and were very excited about another breakfast/brunch spot opening near us. We were pleased when we saw heaters on the front porch, but were disappointed to hear they were out of butane. In order to accommodate the weekend breakfast demand I feel like these should definitely be in working order to help open up more seating.
THE best biscuits and gravy I've had in a restaurant. The atmosphere is nice and the employees are very friendly. Breakfast at HLB has become our new favorite weekend ritual and I've been telling everyone how awesome it is!
We finally made it over here and are instant regulars. Food was heavenly
Great breakfast except for burnt sausage. Need to highlight the ramp entrance for disabled customers. Pleasant staff and nice menu.
OMG! Amazing goodies. They also serve breakfast
This spot is so cute and just a great place to hang out. I didn't get a chance to try any of the food (THIS TIME) but I will definitely go back!!
In the Hillcrest District of Little Rock a bakery that one would call a gathering location you will find a new spot Hillcrest Little Bakery. First there is plenty of off street parking. As you walk to enter you will find out door spaces to eat or enjoy coffee. Once you have opened the door you see a modern open fresh eatery. Everything is soooo clean. If you order to stay and spend time you feel so relaxed. I had the vegan biscuits and gravy with potatoes. Yummmmm and fresh ice tea. After my breakfast and wonderful experience I got a tea to go. The to go cups are thick and keep your drink cold for hours after leaving. I do believe this will be a favorite of mine.
This is definitely a nice addition to Little Rock and the neighborhood. They have a couple kinks to work out (my food was a bit cold and the poached egg was overcooked) but they were minor issues. Plan on waiting a bit. Good meals take time.
Definitely get anything with Hot Chicken.
So happy to have this wonderful little spot in Hillcrest. I wish it was closer to my house in NLR! The bowl breakfast I tried was stellar. I'll definitely be back. There can be a line out the door on the weekends and limited seating, so go early or take it to go.
So delicious, filling and ready so quickly! I got the hot springs biscuits and gravy as well as a pancake. Not your average biscuits and gravy, it was so satisfying I had to save my pancake for later.
The craft biscuits and gravy are simply next level. A must do for those traveling through Little Rock!
Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time!!!!! I don’t do reviews, but I had to for how good they are. They have a great atmosphere and customer service. We will be back!!
Y'all ever daydream about being stranded on a deserted island and if you were one day rescued and your rescuers are like "what do you want for your first meal back to civilization?"
Your eyes gaze into the distance as you remember the years of capturing rain water to drink alongside a fish you caught with your bare hands and cooked over a crude fire. It took many years to grow accustomed to survival life, and you long for more.
You've been on the island for almost a decade and the thing that keeps you going--the thing that keeps you alive--it's not your family's love, or the laughter you might one day share again with your friends. It's not the fellowship of holidays. It's not a life you could build or a home you can share with a loving partner.
It's the Van Buren at Hillcrest Little Bakery on a beautiful, warm Sunday morning.
Loved the vibe of this place! We ordered the acai bowl and the “she says she’s not hungry” plate. Both were amazing and we will definitely be coming back!
Homemade breakfast. Doughnuts were great. Great new place.
Hands down the best breakfast I’ve had in Central Arkansas. Their homemade biscuits… wowza.
One of the best breakfast place in town. They might be bit pricey but they deserve that. Love the food and service. Highly recommend.
So good. I loved the smoked salmon eggs Benedict on a biscuit. Mediterranean, English, Southern culture blend that I really enjoyed.
This place is amazing and a great local spot to support
This bakery is delicious! The customer service is just a great! I highly recommend them, especially if you like brunch!
Little is correct. Small, but man it was good!
Great food! Cozy and friendly!
Delightful and cozy. I appreciate great customer service and support LOCAL businesses as much as possible. My order is always fresh, delicious and great prices.
Yummy!!! Well worth the wait. Be patient when you go. It is small and very busy but so worth it.
One of my favorite places to get breakfast! All of their biscuits are out of this world and lots of vegetarian friendly options!
A much needed addition to the Little Rock food scene- comfort food in a quaint renovated Hillcrest house. Friendly, quick service, nice price point and yummy food.
When I get back from the airport and then I can be in a place of peace with you guys to help out with your rings to the closest friends of the year I took the time with the new class and I was very grateful for your help.
Great atmosphere and wonderful eats! I will definitely be returning for more yummy treats!
Crazy good food! my favorite is the hot chicken biscuit but the blueberry pancakes are a close second 👌 …
Absolutely amazing food, will definitely come back here again!
Nice spot to grab breakfast, super busy, because it's good👍 …
Cute breakfast spot with wonderful food at good prices!
Atmosphere feels like your eating at home except the food is way better! Patio area tops it off!
Awesome eggs Benedict..❤

Very cute interior and the staff is friendly. The pumpkin cheesecake is great.
Great scratch cheesecakes.

Good service and food. Doing pretty good for just opening and am excited to see what they have to offer in the future.
This place was amazing! Awesome Breakfast sandwich!
Wonderful place! Eaten there 4 times already and going back this morning. Nice staff
Very tasty food with plenty of outdoor seating.
Enjoyed a wonderful lunch on my first visit. We will be back!!
Fresh and tasty, definitely pricy for me. The Baked goods looked really good.
Fantastic food! Diner fare without the diner grease.
Best bacon. Food was so hot and fresh.
Exceeded expectations, excellent food, service and price.
Busy this morning but still good fast service and same good quality.
Excellent small local spot for brunch biscuit bowls, pies, cookies, etc
Love It! ENJOY IT #all The Time!

Rockstars!!!!
The eggs Benedict was THE BEST Benedict I’ve ever had. Seriously everything was so good - the biscuit, Hollandaise sauce, the eggs - perfection. I would love to come back and try other dishes, but there’s no way I’d skip the Benedict.
My god i never realized how much i liked biscuits but that’s because i never had them from here. I have never had such a good biscuit breakfast sandwich
Absolutely amazing! Second time I’ve eaten here! I got the Açaí Bowl shown below! A side of biscuits and gravy and my partner had the War Memorial! Everything was phenomenal! 😍😍😍 …
