The bakery is run by the sweetest lady who has been there since the 1940s. In the back kitchen I could see her happy family making cookies by hand. I asked for the best assortment of their baked goods to bring to my staff and she could not stop herself from adding addition cookies and donuts (for free) because she just really wanted me to try them. It was very obvious she loves her job and takes pride in her product. A large box full of baked goods ended up costing only $9. I tried to tip and she refused and said she just wanted me to come back. Trust me... I WILL BE COMING BACK!! The cookies and donuts were so soft and perfectly baked. Everyone loved them. They have won me over as a customer for life!

Excellent little bakery with a hidden stache of incredible miniatures and more! Sandy and her staff were exceptionslly friendly and colorful! The sticky bun I had was out of this world delicious and I got a bunch of miniatures for my dollhouse that are very difficult to find at great prices! I hope to visit again in the near future!!! Hart Bakery is okay at best. I respect the establishment because it's family owned, but they are a long way away from how good Long's Bakery is. I bought some apple fritters from Hart Bakery recently. It was all bread really. They're donuts and donut holes aren't as soft and tasty as Long's. Maybe they're catering to a specific palate (taste); I have no idea really. On the other hand, the staff are very nice people. They're always listening and looking to see how they can help. It's a very down home yet professional atmosphere. I noticed that the older lady in charge seemed to know people by name as they came in. That's a sorely missed interaction in the business world. Kudos to them. If you're on that side of town and you want something sweet, it's great. The donuts won't be what draw you in. The all around small business hospitality and being a community staple is what might bring you back.

I visited Hart Bakery for the first time and was so impressed!! The owner came out from the back to greet me. She was so proud to share a few of her favorite product recommendations. Before I left, she made sure I took a “Hart” magnet for my refrigerator. I am so glad I discovered this local gem. The baked goods are delicious, and the local heart of the business really shines through. I will definitely be back.

This place is a hidden gem of my wife and I. We absolutely love it. I'm a truck 🚚 driver who has traveled the entire U.S. and originally coming from N.Y. I know a good bakery when I see one!!!..not to toot my own horn(but toot toot!!!) - Amazing baked goods in a loving and Godly atmosphere! The (glazed) croissant 🍩 is one of my favorites. 😊 - The ladies are super caring ❤ and always welcome you with loving, warm, open arms...always smiling from the time you open the door till your leaving, which helps me start my day right! - They carry beautiful unique gifts which are priced to sell and be enjoyed. My wife loves getting a gift each time we visit. The gifts...best described are like precious moments statues type of deal, but of much more variety. We have gotten earrings, a silver goblet, lockets, audio books, and a Bulova clock decoration which holds pictures. Really must visit my words do Hart Bakery no justice. - They open early morning which is great for me: Mon-Fri : 5:30am Sat : 6:00am And Sunday they're closed with a sign posted stating they are closed Sunday so you and your family can go to Church...which I think is a beautiful thing that more businesses should do.. Again I love ❤ this place and it's a great little bakery that everyone should visit if in the Indianapolis area!

Well, with our new reality, I didn’t go to the bakery. A elder lives with me so I try to limit my interaction. A neighbor on Nextdoor posted a plea to support a local, long-standing, family restaurant. I asked a friend to pick up cream puffs and glazed donuts. My grandma liked the cream puffs; she likes that they weren’t overly sweet. I also liked the yeast donuts, not Long’s, but close. I pray this business, and other independent businesses survival the crisis.

The ladies working are very friendly! Tons of Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies, along with an assortment of other stamps brands, embossing powders, gems, stickers and some other things. She also carries miniatures and figurines. The apple turnover I had was delicious!

The prices are competitive, the cakes are the best around and the donuts are always fresh and delicious! Sandy has been the owner for several years and continues to be friendly and courteous. Sandy is simply the best. She is also very knowledgeable about cakes, frosting and recipes. I can't wait to get my daughters wedding cake.

Went in on a Friday - tried their cherry donut - only made on Fridays (or so I was told). It was absolutely delicious. I asked for a variety as I had never been before, and the ladies working that day did not disappoint. I'll have to come back and try their cookies and other baked goods. I will get feed back for this. I found for the price high, the doughnuts to be much smaller than Jack's doughnuts or even the dreaded Krispy Kreme. Much heavier on icing. Everyone has their favorite place for doughnuts. Heart isn't my favorite.

Small local bakery with Chachky gifts. They have great coffee cakes although selection is limited and they go fast. Donuts, fudge, pies, various speciality items as well. I have never had anything less than delicious from here. Prices are pretty good to me. I try to support local establishments.

The rating should be 5 star without a doubt. Dare I say the Alligator was better than Roselyn’s. Doughnuts were old school awesome yeast flavor. Go early! Had a fun novelty store feel. Will definitely return. Keep up the good work Hart Bakery!

Above average bakery. Friendly service, average prices and above average quality. Good combination. If you have a request for anything call ahead and they have always been good at making it happen. The only negative thing I can think of would be getting in and out of the parking lot.

We love this bakery. Their bread and pastries are all delicious. It is handicap accessible however the inside can get a little tight for wheelchairs to turn around. It's not impossible, just be careful because of all the decorative items for sale also.

We are in here at least twice a week. This is where we get all of our birthday cakes. It's the only birthday cakes my daughter and husband will eat. Their donuts are the best!! Make sure on Fridays or Saturdays you go early. They are also the nicest people up there. Never met a rude one. They always treat you like family.

Sweet tooth taking care of with a fat icy roll. This place has been around for a long time . They get the respect they deserve. If you haven't had a roll or donut from here what are you waiting on. Very local to me and they have a wonderful personality there.

The “Crown Bread” at Hart’s Bakery is excellent! We have them at every special occasion and holiday within our family! They are the closest thing to my mother’s homemade rolls! There is just nothing better than Hart’s “Crown Bread”! Enjoy!!!

Love this bakery!! I consider myself an experienced donut consumer (I eat a lot of donuts) and this is for sure on my top list of places - I LOVE that their Long John's aren't filled with anything (pro-tip: if you like a lot of icing, ask them to double ice it for you...messy but worth it) and they have THE BEST blueberry donut holes!! On top of that, they do cookies (their iced tea cookies are a special recipe) and cakes as well as other baked goods! They made my wedding cake and it was gorgeous - lots of compliments!

This is a very affordable and professional bakery. I used them to bake my wedding cake and they made the whole process very comforting and reassuring. I chose red velvet, and white cake and I used a waterfall stand which was by the way beautiful. They decorated it to my liking and the deposit was affordable as well. They deliver the cake to the location and setup everything so after you choose and pay, they take care of the rest. Definitely highly recommended.

Extremely friendly service. Tasty donuts, all kinds of other treats available. I highly recommend the donut holes (blueberry!). Cruellers are light and delicious. I haven't tried any of the fudge or cakes available, but I'm sure they are great. Note: they used to be cash only, but now accept credit cards!

Hart's has amazing donuts! I just had my wedding on Saturday and purchased my cake from Hart's. They were easy to work with, very affordable and all the guest said the cake tasted wonderful. Unlike many other wedding cake makers, Hart's makes their products fresh rather then pre-making the cake days in advance and freezing it. I would highly recommend them.

What is the ultimate measure of a bakery? Their glazed yeast donuts. And I must say that Hart's Bakery is definitely up there. They are possibly the lightest and fluffiest donuts in Indy. Though they cannot top Long's Donuts in my book; they are missing that little extra sweetness in the glaze. I also ordered their last long john (on a Saturday around 9am), but to my dismay there was no filling. Next time I will be more specific to request a filled donut, and their absolutely will be a next time because they had some amazing fudge flavors calling my name. If your measure of a bakery includes the presence of a police officer, then your in luck also, because there was one ordering 3 dozen glazed who even held the door for me!

WONDERFUL mom & pop type bakery, hidden in a very plain building. You walk in and are overwhelmed by the aromas & the choices! Varied flavors of fudge-donuts to die for-great cookies, eclairs, cannoli, everything you'd ever want to see AND taste in a bakery! Great & efficient staff, very friendly, even during the busiest of hours. In the bakery section are collectibles for people like me. Great selection of small crystal items, Hummel figurines, & the Egyptian teardrop perfume bottles that I collect, as well as some unique items of jewelry. The other half of the small building is dedicated to wedding cakes & all that goes with them. Quite impressive! I just want to jump headfirst & mouth wide open into the huge wedding cake on display! Interesting side note-the minute you exit your car, you hear BIRDS singing, even on snowy winter days. The sound is coming from a billboard right by the store & is enuff to make a grinch smile! Hoping that those of you who have never tried this bakery will check it out-you'll be HOOKED too! Northeast side of 10th St just east of the intersection of 10th & Shadeland.

Small little ma and pa shop. Came in for the lemon bars which didn't not taste like lemon. I also grabbed some toffee cookies that did not taste like toffee and were hard. Their chocolate butter pecan cookie bites were the jam!!
