So fresh! Clean inside, nicest staff on the street. I have been eating here since I can remember. My mother loved this place, and I will continue to visit until I cant. Feels like a kitchen you grew up in. Top quality food, made daily, frequently fresh from the oven while you wait. The coffee and Tea are so tasty as well and should definitely not be overlooked. All around the best fast breakfast choices you can make locally! 😋

Amazing food and coffee! Don't believe you can't find a better breakfast anywhere. I had the roast beef, cheddar and jalapeño kolache and a pastrami, cheddar and jalapeño kolache. The crust was light as a feather and filling made you crave more! The cappuccino had a deep roasted flavor. Gotta try this place!

Even though I'm giving this place three stars, I would rather give them 3.5. Small, authentic spot with very good items. I love the fact that it's family owned and has been in the same spot for so many years. It's definitely a houston classic. My only issue is that they don't have enough variety--especially when they are compared to their direct competition, The kolache factory. The sell coffee, have an outside eating space, and you can see the food made by hand right in front of you. This place certainly has charm. I just wish the menu was more expansive. I've been here a million times, and will always come back when I'm in the area. If you need any recs, you should go with the chicken fajita kolache. Very flavorful.

This has been a staple for savory and sweet treats for us for years. Always fresh and serviced by the most friendly folks. A quaint little hole-in-the-wall breakfast nook. Teas and coffees also served here. There are a handful of seating tables, but it's really a to-go type of place. Go early if you want the best pick. Made fresh daily, so if it's sold out, you'll have to come back the next day.

The short story is this is the best Kolache you’ll ever eat. They make a wide variety and they sell fast so get there early and often. My favorite is the ham and cheese along with anything jalapeño. Update: still the best Kolache you’ll ever eat. Waiting in a line is common but worth every minute.

Just incredible. Been on my list to visit for nearly 2 years... The roast beef bacon cheese croissant is a top 5 eat for me in Houston. The blueberry Kolache is better than any sweet Kolache I've had anywhere in Texas (and I've tried all the famous ones). The twists were also pretty great.

I have seen this little building and driven past it for over a couple decades and now regret not having tried this local staple sooner, but better late than never I suppose. It was my first time there with my wife and 2 kids. At first I was surprised at how small it was inside and it felt cramped with other customers there, but we were promptly attended and got our stuff without any issues. Being our first time there, we were unfamiliar with the menu so we weren't sure about what to order; We got sausage and cheese kolaches (with and without jalapeños), bacon and cheese kolaches, a cookie, and a couple apple fritters The apple fritters were phenomenal; so flaky and perfectly sweetened (not too sweet and not too plain.) 🤤 My oldestkid is very picky and was surprised she not only ate 1 but 2 kolaches. We will likely return to support this awesome multi-generational local establishment.

The Kolache Shoppe is excellent! The food is delicious. The employee’s are very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend trying it out. It’s a very small inside, definitely not enough room to sit down and eat. Try the Peach Tea with honey.

The food is really good. BUT they don’t have an orderly system to order in place. Someone else took the last sweets I wanted for my order bcuz the girl took forever to pack up my other items never got to the sweets n they asked the guy behind me what he wanted n he took the last sweets flavor I wanted for my order. IT MAKES NO SENSE. I was first my order wasn’t completed, why would the person behind me get to take the last ones I wanted for my order. Why don’t u respect the in line. Dont ask othewhat they want taking the last ones when the person ahead of them hasn’t even finish ordering. N Also there was a tall man breathing all over the food. Why won’t they tell him to stay behind the glass. He was speaking all over the food n no one told him anything. All his saliva particles n germs falling on top of the top food shelf. This place it’s always packed with ppl n they have this petty problems. N STOP asking for tips just for packing food, they didn’t give me a good service, they let someone else take my sweets, the screen to sign n add tip is right infront of the entire line of ppl, like to shame u or guilt u into adding tip.

Come here, do not hesitate. I freaking love this place!! Smells incredible when you walk in, amazing kolache and their version of a “croissant” I think (I’m not sure I have the local lingo down), the longer, not round items. The chicken fajita was great but the roast beef, bacon and cheese was fresh from the oven and one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Prices are fair. Coffee is great too, they treat it like a cocktail here, so it takes a while. Service is friendly even though it can get crowded. If you’re flying into Hobby, you have to come here, it’s too close to miss out on.

Don't judge a book by its cover. Do NOT confuse this as just another location of a sprawling kolache factory. This is a one and only shoppe, not a factory. Established in the '50s, this has to be Houston's first kolache bakery and they are the very best. Crowds come and go, so if there's a line it'll move fast and it's worth the short wait. Everything is hand crafted and the kitchen area is highly visible. Special order in advance to get poppy seed kolaches and cinnamon rolls with applewood smoked bacon. Choose from a nice selection of fresh-from-the-oven offerings including sausage, roast beef, ham, pastrami, fajita, and all kinds of fruit. Don't miss the coffee. They roast their own coffee and pride themselves in sourcing beans from individual farmers as well as knowledgeable distributors. Working owners are almost always on hand. Staff is friendly and efficient. This is definitely worth a road trip.

You guys raised the prices once again! The kolaches were 2.50 then 2.75 which was ok. Now 3.00! Guess I’m not leaving a tip anymore. Almost makes me feel like not stopping by. Last time I went they were over baked. Also had two people making coffee and nobody taking orders.

I was excited to try Texas kolaches and this place had good reviews, but I was a little disappointed. The sausage one is just a pig in a blanket. It's a whole sausage rather than ground. The blueberry one was adequate. My favorite thing was the lemon turnover. But the staff was very good, helpful and friendly.

The only reason I gave 4 stars is because there's no AC and with the amount of people crammed in a tiny space? They need it! But damn good food. Well worth the wait.

Second visit. My first time through the doors was 30 years ago; applying for a job at 16. Since then, decor inside has been updated and they sell Zeppelin whole bean coffee (sure there's much more I missed). They will grind if desired. Products were excellent and staff was delightful. Customers in line were polite. Everything moved along efficiently. Parking is very limited and usually full -- which is why it's taken me so long to return. However, after seeing how fast everything moves along; next time I happen to pass by, I may just wait for a spot to open.

I don't know how I have not reviewed this place yet. The kolaches are awesome. The roast beef, cheese and jalapeño are excellent. So, every kolache I've eaten since I moved to HOU area are usually a hot dog type of sausage baked in some type of bread. The kolaches at this establishment are a sliced beef, a cheese sauce in a croissant type of crust. They are incredible. I wish I could get a location closer to my house but I am glad they open at 5 AM.

This was a new find on the internet. I live 25 minutes away but they looked really good online. They have some unusual croissants with roast beef or pastrami. Upon arriving I was a little disappointed at how the croissants looked. They looked like a hotpocket and appeared old and overdone. However, this was completely NOT the case. Despite they're appearances they were soft and flaky and full of meat. Well worth the trip over. They also had a gingerbread and pumpkin spread moon pie like thing which was the softess pastry ever. I first visited this establishment a few weeks ago. I've been stopping in onto my way for work and buying breakfast for the office. Their kolaches are amazing and the coffee is better than Starbucks. My favorite is the Iced White Chocolate Mocha latte. Try it! It won't disappoint! The staff is always friendly and the customers are all happy just to be there. Good vibes here!

First time coming here and there wasn't too long of a line. We tried to get a little of everything so we got ham bacon and cheese, sausage and cheese, fajita, raspberry cream turnover and oatmeal cookie since they had just come out. The ham and cheese was too salty due to ham is salty and bacon is too so combined its too much sodium. The fajita one was delicious and in my opinion better than the sausage and cheese, oatmeal cookie was awesome. Chewy and big! Sausage and cheese was nothing special, just like any other good tasting kolache. Don't get me wrong it was good but nothing I would say "there's nothing like it anywhere else." Rasberry cream turnover was also very good, if I were to travel to them from pasadena I would go mainly for the fajita and cheese kolache and the turnover. Overall their pastries are good and not badly priced.

Been going here for a couple years now and finally getting around to rating it. One of my top 5 eats in Houston, and definitely my favorite kolaches I've had anywhere! Chicken Fajita with Monterey Jack cheese is out of this world. I will always wait for them to bake it if it's out of stock. My sister and mother love the apple and chocolate turnovers. I don't drink coffee, but my sister has informed me that's it's pretty good too. The staff here is always friendly and helpful. If I had one recommendation to make, it would be to use a different cheese with the roast beef and pastrami kolaches, but that's just my personal preference! Keep being excellent.

We had heard a lot about the place and since we were in the area, decided to try it. Not quite what we expected. Very nice people, great service. The food wasn't as good as we had hoped. I had a pastrami croissant. It was dripping with grease, soaked the bag and was salty. The sausage kolache was a little better.

My favorite breakfast stop ever. Fairly priced for the amazing quality food you get. The kolachies are fantastic, warm, sweet and savory. Jalapeno is optional. There is of course a large array of high quality desserts. A small but very pleasant interior that always almost has a line out the door. Full of syrups, coffee beans, and many other wonderful smelling and appealing things. Entirely worth the 5-10 minute wait from the time you get out of your car to the time you get back in it, depending on what you order and how many people are ahead of you.

I love this lil quaint family owned and managed shoppe. Easy to notice from the street in normal traffic. Limited parking lot structure. I think the coffee selection is vastly premium with local and international flavors. Cash and credit accepted. There are seating areas available inside and outside of this venue. Best tasting quick bite to eat!

Heard the name Zeppelin Coffee at Houston Rodeo this year and as a coffee enthusiast and amateur barista I was curious to check it out when I happened to be in the area. At this part of town, I wasn't sure whether to expect a retail coffee shop or possibly a roastery tucked away in some industrial center. Turns out it was this kolache shop with some incredible-looking fresh pastries in addition to retail coffee drinks. I was blown away by their version of a Frappuccino (technically, a registered trademark of Starbucks, and they should probably change the name anyway because their version was superior). They also have retail packaging of beans that they roast in house, which I will come back and get soon.

The lemon twist, peanut butter cookies are my favorite! Let's not forget the coffee they serve. The pecan drip is amazing. Im not a huge Frappuccino fan but the one they serve here is perfectly sugared where you can still taste the coffee flavoring without being too sweet. Their classic fruit kolaches are great. This place blows every other Czech and/or so called kolache bakery out of the water. The sweet and soft bread of the fruit kolaches or klobasniky with sausage will convert anyone with an educated palate into a believer of this place. The only regret I have is that I can’t eat less than 2 of any bakery item they make here. Truly a delicious experience.

So today we decided to pick up some kolaches and coffee from TOKS. First time ever ordering a vanilla cold brew from here. The person picking up the order called me and asked if I wanted milk in my cold brew. I said yes, if there’s sweet cream it would be nice too. Well the caucasian girl with the black beanie decided we needed a sarcastic comment today and said something like: this isn’t Starbucks. I’ve personally been to Kolache shoppe so many times before and I have NEVER experienced any type of rudeness from anyone there. So I am very disappointed with that girls customer service. If I can’t ask, how will I know what’s available? also I know where i’m getting coffee from.

Great little place for amazing breakfast and coffee! If you've never been or are on the fence, just go! They have all sorts of kolaches for all tastes. My personal fav is the roast beef with jalapenos, they also have is sans peppers if you don't like the spicy stuff. For the coffee, I recommend the roasted pecan.

I also loved the the pastrami with jalapeños, usually it comes with bacon but requested it without and they made it happen!! Good location to eat at. Food was excellent! We got two kolache's but could only eat one. They were so filling. I also got an extra shot of espresso in my coffee. That made my day! Very friendly staff. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a good trip for terrific food.

Coffee is Fair Trade and excellent; kolaches are amazing; the store itself is fun and quirky and warm and inviting. There are a couple of outdoor tables which even in July were made bearable because of the umbrellas; there's a little bit of space indoors but not much (because it's all about the food in there!) 6/12/18 Stumbled into this place by chance. It has a really cool vibe. Let’s hope the kolaches and coffee are as good as it smells in here. the kolaches were hot fresh and awesome. I got there at 5 am when they opened the door, so I was first in line. At first I was disappointed because they didn’t have the coffee or any pastries ready. It wasn’t even brewing yet, so I had to wait five minutes for that. When I walked out I had a bad first impression just because of that. When I got to work and bit into that kolache all was forgiven lol. The coffee was very good too. I’m willing to give them a second chance, but I think if a business like this is going to “open” at 5am then they should have all their products ready for sale at that time. 3/26/20 Almost two years later and time for an update. This is by far, my favorite place for coffee and breakfast. I’ve tried almost all of their products by now and nothing has disappointed me yet. I now know that by 6:00 am all of their products are fresh, hot, and ready to go. The coffee selections are amazing. They roast their own coffee. Zeppelin Coffee A++ My fave is their Yirgacheffe. They always have three brews of coffee made. Columbian, Pecan, and the special of the day. They will even french press a specific one by request. Sure it take a few extra minutes but it’s worth it. They take pride in their work. Kevin and his team are awesome people!!!

This place is amazing! It is very small and parking is limited; however, I recommend trying it out. They have great coffee and rotate which brews they have. The prices are very reasonable, and the pastries are delicious. Of course the kolaches are unique and tasty, only place I know where you can get a fajita kolache.

I was expecting these great kolaches but for example, the bacon ham cheese taste like a cheap hot Pocket. The dough is not flaky or anything it's like doughy. Also they don't add egg to anything which is weird. The sausage and cheese are average like the ones from any other shop, I haven't tried the others meats but I don't think I'll go back. I don't get why all the 5 star reviews? These people have never been to a "kolache factory" where they have like 20 plus combinations and the dough has a unique taste. So disappointed.

AMAZING!!!!!! The kolache's definitely beat any breakfast quick and go shop . The staff is really warm and welcoming and the baristas really go out of their way to make sure your drink is on point! It is usually very busy during the early mornings and before closing especially during the weekends;however, the wait is worth it ! I definitely recommend it.

Visited for the first the other day, and I was pretty impressed. I ordered the Sausage cheese & Jalapeño kolache, Steak cheese & Jalapeño kolache, cream cheese kolache, and some raspberry treat. The meat kolaches were decent (6/10 sausage & 7/10 steak) but the cream cheese one and raspberry treat, were great (9/10). Well visit again in the future.

Let me first off say this is the HAVE TO GO place on anyones list. Before finding out about this place 3 months ago I use to frequent the downtown tunnels and uptown a lot on my days off. I live pretty far from this place, but trust me it’s worth the 45-60 minute commute through Houston traffic. The Roast Beef kolache is absolutely delicious, and the Iced Soy Latte I order is just right on and it’s the reason why I keep coming back. The gal who’s made my beverage is very friendly and does a great job every time she makes it. Last week I had family fly in from Chicago and we went in and they absolutely loved it! The staff was very friendly and patient with my indecisive peeps😂, the place felt very cozy, I love the deco. This is a very original and unique place to visit.

Love the kolaches, the service and coffee! Update: (05/18/2021) As I said in my review a year ago I love this place and will continue to be a patron. I hate to be this person but there's one thing I noticed happening in the last month or two. It's consistently taking longer than before to get out the door to buy jusf kolaches, no coffee or anything else. I got in the morning when there aren't many people an it still takes 10-15 minutes. Last week there were 5 people in front of me and it took 12 minutes just to buy kolaches. I didn't buy coffee or anything like that. I'm not sure if they are short staffed or the employees are in training. I'm pointing it out because it used to be super quick when there were few people in line. In and out in 5 minutes.

First time visiters, We drove 30 min to check this place out on a whim. We stumbled across it on Google while looking for VooDoo Doughnut at home . We got 2 of every pastry & 2 Carmel Frappe. The Carmel Mocha Frappe was the best we have ever tasted, The pastry was very delicious not your typical run of the mill shop. Well worth the trip. Went here for the first time this morning I ordered a chicken fajitas filled hot pocket looking pastry...it was so good. I also got a lemon turn over it was soft and flaky the lemon filling wasn't too tart or too sweet, there was a bit of a line but the staff kept it moving and was very friendly.I'm glad I stopped by, definitely recommending this spot for breakfast

This place is a true hidden gem. Come here and you will not regret it. The kolaches are not your typical Texas style kolaches. I believe they are Czech/German and they are delicious. I recommend the beef or chicken fajita ones if they are available. Aside from their kolaches are the pastries and cinnamon rolls. I have been to so many bakeries in the city and nothing compares to the delightful Bavarian cream filled pastry they make here. This place is tiny and they are really busy during the week but the line moves rather quickly.

The kolaches here are definitely the best in the city of Houston and possibly the best in the entire state. There is nothing better than a sausage and cheese with jalepeno fresh out of the oven...They cook the kolaches throughout the day so they are always fresh! Not to be outdone by the incredible kolaches, the coffee here is incredible. They roast it in the store. My favorite is the cold brew latte and I have even started buying their cold brew concentrate for my morning cup of coffee. This is a family owned restaurant and it is always refreshing knowing the money I spend here is staying in the Houston community. If you haven't tried this hidden gem of Houston yet, do yourself a favor and go as soon as you can!

These kolaches are incomparable! I recommend their sausage ones because they make them really juicy. My favorite kolache is the sausage, cheese, and jalapeño one though. I came here to drop off some mail without knowing about this place, they were prepping for the next day and I think it was just past 12 noon. I tried the Raspberry Cream filled with raspberry frosting and the Pastrami Bacon and Cheese Kolaches. I must say that I was impressed with the Raspberry Cream filled one, delicious, flaky and still crunchy, the Pastrami Bacon and Cheese was ok, it was greasy and soggy but I'm sure it was like that due to how long it sit there. I just recommend to remove them or drop the price at 1/2 off for the inconvenience. Otherwise, great flavors.

Great experience, the aroma as soon as you walk in, the staff , the product. Everything was great. For anyone complaining about parking, there's another lot behind the building that lots of people aren't aware of. Never had an issue with parking. The only thing I could ask for would be to stay open throughout the day! Haha definitely try this place you won't regret it.

Waaay better than what you'll get at Kolache factory or Shipleys etc. Closest to what my grandma made us as a child.:) We tried the sausage, pastrami, roast beef, raspberry and raspberry/cream cheese turnover. Came here because of Allison Cook's review in the Houston Chronicle. I was not disappointed. Hands down, this is the best kolache bakery I've been to and I've been to almost all of them in West, TX and the one in Danbury. All of the kolaches are excellent and huge. You can taste the quality. There is plenty of filling in the fruit kolaches and the sausage kolaches are very tasty. They have real coffee that is better than most coffee places. Their "croissants" are superlative, too. I'm partial to the fajita chicken but my son swears by either the beef fajita or the roast beef. The only thing better than the kolaches is the friendly service. OKS is nowhere near where I live, but it is worth the drive.

The only place that compares to the Czech Stop in my book. Beef/pork? sausage and turkey sausage are both killer. The roast beef, bacon, and cheese in a flaky crust is incredible. One of my favorite places! I drive Uber and every chance I get, I go and treat myself. I also tell my riders (when they ask me for suggestions on great places to go), this is definitely a must "go and savor the flavors"! These homemade goodies and in house roasted coffees are the Bomb diggity...Yummy yum yum!. Kevin, the owner took time to tell me how he took over after his grandma passed and how he revamped the place with ideas he had wanted to implement for a long time. So cute! (speaking of the place but yep ladies he is too :-D. He even custom made me a coffee blend from one of the African beans! Wonderful!!! I really want them to be more well know but I'm selfish in that I don't want them to get so big that they lose that loving attention they give to their food and patrons...I know right! My favorites are...the Bacon-Pastami Kolache, Cappucini w hazelnut, raspberry turnover, peach Kolache, oatmeal raisin and sand tart cookie...shucks...All of it is good! Great place…great staff! I've had this place bookmarked for years, but unfortunately my wife is not a fan of kolaches, and the only time I can make it would be weekends. But lucky for me, my wife was having brunch with co-workers, so I was able to meet up a friend for kolaches! They have a wide variety of savory and sweet items. I tried 2 meat kolaches, the roast beef and the pastromi were soooo good. The breading was flaky and stuffed full of meat and cheese. Think a fresh homemade hot pocket. I also, tried a few different fruit ones too. I also tried a few fruit turnovers. The turnovers breading was just as good as the kolaches. Finally, I sampled the cinnamon roll. Not super sweet and flaky once again. Everything at this shoppe was superb!

If you want the absolute best kolaches in Houston, this is the best place to go. The sausage kolaches are my favorite because the bread to sausage ratio is perfect, the bread is just sweet enough, and the sausage is flavorful and juicy. Their sweet kolaches are also delicious, and they have may different flavors available. Prices are not too unreasonable for the quality, and wait times are not too terrible.

The only thing bad I can say about this place is that it is in Houston and I live in San Antonio. The Kolaches that come from this place are one of a kind and they tastes great also. What. An. Amazing. Kolache. We were headed down to Galveston from Houston and were looking for a quick bite on our way out of town. We researched a bit and stumbled across this well reviewed place. Passing from the outside, I was expecting a regular kolache shop. You know, like the same ones you see all over town. I was utterly surprised by how beautifully decorated the whole place was and how impressive the operation was. First thing you'll probably notice is the smell of coffee. They have a legitimate coffee operation here full with espresso machine and barista serving up gourmet coffee. You can tell they really love their coffee because the next thing you'll notice are the burlap coffee sacks lining the ceiling giving it a warm, cozy feel. Then you'll notice the hip workers and music selection. Then the kolaches. What an interesting assortment of kolaches! You have your basic fruit based kolache (fun fact it's what original kolaches actually should be) but I would recommend their savory selection. Their roast beef with bacon and cheese is to die for! I'm not sure if it's a classic kolache dough, but it's pretty much a savory pastry kolache style. Overally, highly recommend this place. It's actually very close to Hobby, so no reason not to stop by if you're ever visiting the airport for a drop off or a pick up. Parking is scant, but there's plenty on the street itself.

I am very proud to have this business in my neighborhood.. this place has been here since I a was a kid , I think the children of the originals owners picked up the torch and carried on the family legacy and they are doing such a great job . I love the way they have decorated the place inside with the coffee burlap bags on ceiling and just made it warm and inviting .. now onto the kolache these are the best !! these are not your average Shipley's kolache, this is the real deal with the real big , fat link sausage you would throw on the bbq pit ! their cinnamon rolls are huge and the fruit Danish's are glorious ! they also sell the best Texas pecan coffee you can every imagine & have a very large organic hot tea menu.. everyone in Houston should try this place @ least once in their life . if you have a really big order you can call in ahead of time and swing thru and pick them up fast . I only got to try the sausage kolaches because when I got there at 5:30, hoping they would have a good selection, they had very little of anything ready. I was told they don't have much until after 6. That would have been nice to know before I drove 30 minutes over there. If you open at 5 you should have kolaches ready to go. If you won't, don't open until later or at least state on your website that almost nothing is ready the first hour of operations. That said the sausage kolaches were ok, not up to my Czech grandmothers level. Sausage was too fine a grind, tasted more like a hotdog. Was looking forward trying the cheese and the poppy seed kolaches but nothing was ready.

Before I review I have to tell you that don't go by the picture on google. It is actually behind the gas station it dosent show here. If you are not familiar with the area GPS it with the address (just off 45S.) We have passed by here before but never noticed the shop. We seen this on Cooking Channel last night.
