Hours have changed recently sometimes it's not convenient especially on Sundays they are now and when you're going to dinner at somebody's house you really would like to stop by somewhere and bring dessert. Fruit pies are OK quite honestly crust could be more fluffy and light. I do like their bread but unless you are in the morning there's a good chance you won't find it later in the day. Hard rolls are usually very hard by mid afternoon and quite honestly not worth buying order them fresh in the morning pick them up early so you can have them at home and a sealed container. I love their Cardiamond bread but order in advance as well as their carrot cakes. Just make sure that you ask for a lighter frosting some of the frosting is earthquake sweet and heavy. They're kind of missing that special touch they used to have

Great local bakery. There is a good assortment of donuts, cookies, pastries and breads here. Easy to get grab something quick here with no hassle. I personally love their large cheese danish. Perfect to share with a group of people.

I stopped in this morning for a quick bite at breakfast. The toasted muffin was delicious and the chocolate glazed donut is the best donut I've ever had in my entire life. The ladies behind the counter were fast and pleasant. Prices were very reasonable.

Absolutely the best! Bread and pastries are always fresh and taste amazing. One time purchased donuts and they tasted fresh even after 3 days. I love their macarons, cupcakes l, donuts, and bread. Reasonable prices, quick service and family run.

The limpa bread is the kind Viking used to make, which is soooo good, especially for egg salad sandwiches! They also make cardamom bread, which is a sweet bread that's really good when it's toasted and buttered. I just went here last night to pick up a cake and some rolls. Rolls are super yum - they were fresh and much better than I could have made. Their cakes are excellent. I have gone here for many years and will continue to go.

Delicious simple birthday cake that was ready when I needed it, after calling two local bakeries this bakery was the one able to accommodate me and the girls working were super sweet and helpful! Thank you Elmwood bakery I will be back!

The oddest conversation I've had in years..... Do you bake Vikings recipe for hermit bars? No we own the recipe! No one buys the hermit bars! Wonderful selection and always fresh! The staff on the other hand will ruin the entire experience. You can approach them with all the kindness in the world and they still snap at you. Imagine how much more business they would have if they were just kind to the customers. I'll still continue to purchase my baked goods at Elmwood but they really need to cool it, others might not be so forgiving.

I was craving some real donuts for national donut day and boy did this place deliver. Even at 5pm they were super fresh. Even the ones we saved for the next morning were great then! Definitely will become a regular spot of mine

Amazing bakery! Fresh baked bread, cakes, rolls, cookies, delicacies are outstanding. Cheese Danish racetrack is simply heavenly! Staff always willing to help. Sandwiches and coffee available all day. Parking near store is a little dicey but large parking lot to west of store offers ample parking. Elmwood Pastry is an old school throwback in the best sense. Order a sliced loaf of their delicious rye bread and check out the bread slicing machine; you'll feel like you're back in the 1950's! Stop by just to enjoy the fresh bakery aromas.

Great homemade breakfast sandwiches- the eggs are cooked fresh while you wait, along with the bacon and sausage, excellent cakes, and incredible doughnuts. What else do you need to start your day? This place definitely has character on the inside, it's a little bit old, and not modern by any means, but the prices are great, the food is excellent, and the service is usually pretty good.

Not only are the pastries 10 out of 10. The sandwiches they make are out of this world. Old fashion sandwich making with all the fixings a pickle and chips and they even let you pick out a pastry. Even the one time I had an issue with a cake they took care of everything with a smile on their face and didn't hesitate to help me out. Wish I could give it 10 stars. Definitely worth stopping into if you’re in the neighborhood.

This is our favorite place for pastries. I have never had a bad item here. The donuts are amazing and my kids love the cinnamon rolls. My son has a peanut allergy and we feel safe eating there.

Awesome donuts and yogurt bread. This place is obviously a staple of the community which I love. However, I can't give five stars yet because the last time I went there it was pretty nasty...crumbs everywhere...may have something to do with the large group of teens they recently hired. They're still learning, they did a good job, but it didn't look like there was anyone there to supervise & guide them when I was there. The kids were taking orders and helping customers but no one was (or had been) cleaning.

The cakes and donuts are so good... If you are in Elmwood area it is a great place to stop and pick up a loaf of rye bread and a double dip chocolate covered donut. (The Best).

Elmwood Pastry is a West Hartford institution. A quaint bakery and more for generations. REAL donuts; beautiful cakes for special occasions; and much more, even serving delicious sandwiches. A gem from another generation, which has new faves as well. Elmwood Pastry is not to be missed.

I've only had the doughnuts, which were good quality. The caramel one was a bit too sweet for me but still okay, and the chocolate cake one was very good. I prefer my doughnuts a bit more crisp on the outside, but they're certainly better than Dunkin Donuts!

Great local bakery to grab a cup of coffee and a pastry and eat there or get a cake and bread to take home. My favorite is the olive roll with butter. Mmmmm good. Their whipped cream filled cupcakes are great too. You will not be disappointed when you stop in there. Many stores in the plaza have come and gone over time but not the Elmwood Pastry Shop.

Awesome cheap doughnuts. How can you beat a dozen fresh bakery made doughnuts for under $10? There are over a dozen types, and all of them are great. The other pastries, coffee rolls, cookies, etc. are all delicious. Plus they open at the crack of dawn so you can go and sit with a coffee if you wake up early.

Elmwood Pastry Shop made the most delicious St. Lucia Buns for Emanuel Lutheran Church's craft fair and St. Lucia Festival reception. They were lightly topped with cracked cardamom; yum.... I had many people ask where we ordered them from - they wanted to know because all 36 dozen were enjoyed by the end of the reception and they wanted to order some for themselves!

Very good donuts, but ceiling air vents are filthy throughout bakery. A staff member needs to clean the vents before other customers notice too.

Real buttercream filled cupcakes, need I say more. Seriously, the Elmwood Pastry Shop is a great bakery where everything is made from scratch unlike the grocery store bakeries. There's also a buttercream filled donut that's chocolate covered, it's worth the splurge
