Sandy’s is a west side institution and we travel back there whenever we can because they have the best donuts in GR. They are always thoughtfully innovating to be sustainable and interesting for customers. They also are extremely transparent on social media and patient with people who are less than kind. The prices are super low considering the great quality, and we’d continue patronizing this place frankly even if the cost tripled. The workers are friendly and always seem to genuinely love their job.

Ok, so my little known secret are the cookies. Since oatmeal raisin isn't "standard," I tried and loved the Almond Cookies. Yummy!! So I go in, and sure enough, Almond Cookies. Later that evening, I try one of the delicious bits of heaven, and OH MY GOODNESS! "These are pure joy!" I exclaimed! But they weren't Almond Cookies. After praising God for the million little miracles. Literal hallelujahs and a little dance! I notice on the package Almond Joy Cookies! They sure got that right! Pure joy! Grab a dozen for the holidays.

I've lived in GR for going on 60 years. This, by far, is my favorite donut shop in town. I have been to them all. There are only a few local, family owned places like this (Marges, Van's, Ida's, Royal Dutch, etc...enjoy and honor them before they're gone). Sandy's apple fritters are the best. Big, crunchy edges, super soft inside. The counter service can't be beat. Love this place.

Oh my is all I can say!!! My brothers a local to the area so I asked for a recommendation and they did NOT disappoint!!! Everything was really good, the custards, the jelly, the fritters... literally everything!! Only complaint is I’ll probably skip lunch and dinner today!

When I was young I loved Sandy’s! They still have good donuts, but the long John’s always seem to be dry by 9am. It also bothers me just a smidge how the servers at the counter use gloves to handle the food, but when I was waiting in the long line I saw the guy in the back using his bare hands to handle the food. In addition to that, their prices went up again. 😕

Sandy's donuts is a great little donut shop. The cashiers are super nice. They take orders for pick up if you need something for your office. Every time I go - it is a pleasant experience and they have exactly what I need. They also carry some GF/Vegan donuts for those with dietary restrictions. I had to take a picture of this crazy huge donut you can special order. It is $8 and I thought it was fantastic. :)

I work in the Eastown Post 📫 Office 🏢 and was celebrating my 28yr Anniversary by bringing donuts in for everybody. My order was placed, via Facebook, on Thursday evening. And ready for pickup 😋 when I went in on Friday morning.....they didn't even mind me adding a last minute addition for an extra six PB&J Long Johns (I ended up with 4 dozen donuts). I had several folks tell me how good they were and how much they were enjoyed 😉. We get donuts about every other month, usually from the closer bakeries. I'm so glad 😌 that I got up early and made the trip to Sandy's......their donuts were worth every cent spent. 😋

Honestly I don't feel like I did Sandy's right... But I was happy with my donut. They had so many cool varieties I was overwhelmed... So I ordered a cinnamon roll with chocolate frosting and nuts. The gentleman at the counter gave me one without nuts... But I was super happy with my donut and would order another one. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of my donut but the one I ordered was NOT the best looking donut in the shop. They had a sitting area that was open and the people coming in was more than the people leaving. Can't wait to go back

Sandy's works hard to make high quality favorites at really good prices. They're always thinking up some fun new donut, my favorites lately have been the oreo, peanut butter cup, and fruity pebble. You'll always find the classics and something new in the same bakery case. What we REALLY love Sandy's for though is the paczki for fat Tuesday!

Really good donuts. I drive all the way from eastown for these donuts these days. I like the strawberry one and the chocolate. Good frosting, right balance of other flavors and sweet. And the donuts have the right amount of crispy outside and fluffy inside. Plus they seem to take customer safety seriously with masks indoors and designated standing areas. They even sell donut themed masks!

This is a place that you really want to like because they are small and have a long history in the neighborhood. I have been here at least a dozen times over the past couple of years and pretty much have the same experience every time. Their muffins and breads are really good. Their donuts are just average, though. They tend to be pretty dry. So I just stick with a muffin when I go in with the family. Don't bother with the cookies if you like them soft.

Always happy with Sandy's! I highly recommend the cannonball, if you're a custard fan. Get there early because, on the weekend, they close at 1pm OR when they run out. Very traditional donut shop. Simple and old fashioned. Clean. Reasonably priced. Good customer service.

Best donuts. Not only in Grand Rapids, probably Michigan, maybe the world. If these donuts were a kid in high school, they'd be that one kid that was popular with every clique, good at every sport, class clown, honor role, valedictorian, two jobs, charity work, ivy league bound. You want to hate them, but you can't. They're just that good. You want to hate them, because you know they're not that good for you, even though they make you feel so good. You love them. They love you. Just get your favorite flavor, and savor the experience.

Nothing from spent grain or covered in unconventional toppings. Yeah, I liked this place, pretty small and quite, most doughnuts shops I go to at 6 am are pretty packed by that time but not this one. The donuts were not the best I've have ever had but they were doughnuts so... Pretty small selection i filled a 3 dozen order with no issues, I chose about 8-10 different types and that wasn't even half of the choices they had. donuts were fresh and warm and everyone at the office liked them.

Their products are to die for and I'm always surprised at the reasonable prices. I'll order a couple dozen or so and be surprised at the low number on the register. I was excited about going to sandys doughnuts. Then I went. The doughnuts alone brought it up to 3 stars..service could of dropped it to two. I went to sandys to order doughnuts and she didn't even greet me..she asked me what i want..she was rushing me to pick my doughnuts and I couldn't even ask her about the doughnuts cause i was new i wanted to know more.she was so busy rushing me she gave me a doughnut i didn't pick out. The young lady was unpleasant to deal with for me..and only complaint i have against the sandys i have food wise is the cinnamon rolls.. They were super dry.

We discovered this doughnut place by accident a couple weeks ago. I simultaneously want the whole world to know about it, AND hope to keep this local treasure somewhat secret. Its quite the problem. Fantastic doughnuts, great prices, AND room to sit down. They also offer free water. Only downside, no public bathroom.

Wonderful doughnuts shop! Just the way a shop should be. I went there today on 'Fat Tuesday' for the first time after reading a few raving reviews (the parking lot was full!). Being Fat Tuesday there wasn't a lot of selection aside from the punchki's, however, this is to be expected. I had a fritter and got my roommate a custard long john. They both were excellent. The only reason I'm not rating excellent on quality is because I haven't been there much to try many of their doughnuts. If you're in the GR area and want an authentic good doughnut, stop by Sandy's. You wont regret it.
