Lovely cupcakery every time I’ve visited. Great selections in cupcakes and they even have a featured vegan cupcake. Spongey fluffy cupcakes with amazing flavor. I love receiving Scratch Cupcakes as a gift!!! Seating area is quaint and shop is cute. Scratch is always busy when I visit. Wonderful customer service when I visit and when I’ve ordered on the phone. Highly recommend for a perfect dessert date spot!

Absolutely love their smooth cookie dough! I’ve been on the hunt and I think I found my spot! They have about 9 flavors of cookie dough goodness! Their cupcakes and cookies are great too but I personally go there for CD 😋

We love scratch cupcakery! Cedar Falls location has a wonderful staff and selection. On this month they had a great variety. Check every day for their different flavors. I would definitely recommend scratch cupcakery in Cedar Falls Iowa if you are looking for a sweet tree.

These cupcakes are fire!!!! If I wouldn't gain weight I would eat at least three of these a day! That's how amazing they taste. I got these for my son's birthday and he was extremely pleased with the different choices. The staff was extremely welcoming and their customer service was outstanding! Delicious! Everything is fresh and always tastes impeccable. Even the flavors I end up not really liking, are still better than Hy-Vee or Walmart regular flavors I would have generally bought in the past before discovering 'Scratch'. We about 2 dozen cupcakes for a birthday party today, so on the way out, I also added a chocolate-chip cookie for myself. Wow! Sorry Grandma, but yours aren't my favorite anymore.

Great food, but we went to late in the day and they only had 3 options left out. BUT all three were YUMMY! Butter pecan cookie, toffee chocolate chip cookie, and some kind of corn bread cupcake-which was bomb dot com. Just saying.

We loved having Scratch Cupcakes as the desert for our wedding. We chose to have mini cupcakes and they were a hit, our guests could not get enough of them! We also had Scratch make our cake, and it was beautifully done! Working with Scratch for our wedding was easy and their overall communication with us and our wedding planner was above and beyond expectations. We cannot recommend them enough!

I absolutely love this place.....not only do they always have about 14+ flavors to choose from, the staff is always awesome! On June 28th the owner replied to my post and corrected the problem. I live in Kansas and have enjoyed the cupcakes from Scratch while visiting family. I know my daughter in law enjoys these cupcakes because they are amazing! Gift cards are (and should be) easy. Thank you for your quick and gentle response. Norm On June 14th, I ordered a gift card for my daughter in law whom lives in Des Moines. I guess I was expecting the card to reach her a few days after the purchase. Today is June 28th and the status: Payment status Paid Fulfillment status Awaiting Processing Just how long would it take for someone to put a card in an envelope and mail it? Shall I call Visa and cancel the transaction? How can you stay in business and treat customers this way?

The cookie dough was delicious! The young lady helping us at the cookie dough was so nice and patient! The gal getting our cupcakes seemed impatient with us. We got the cupcakes to go and they were delicious once we got them home. The gal at the cash register was quiet but helpful & quick. The only real issue was the noise the front door made every time anyone opened it. It made a loud scatching like noise.

Have always loved this place but the last few times we’ve had cupcakes from there (DSM location), we’ve been disappointed. The cupcakes are drier, smaller, and not as moist or dense as they used to be. They’ve always been highly recommended by me and we used them for our wedding. I’m not sure what happened but they’re just not the same. Hoping it’s not permanent. We will be back as we do want to keep loving them!

I wanted to come in early morning of my boyfriend’s birthday to get some cupcakes for him and his family and leave for the hour and a half drive to his house from there. I got there at 9:35 and two of the employees had just showed out of uniform. I asked why they werent open and was just told they would be opening at 11. Disappointed as I adore scratch cupcakes.

Cupcakes here are super yummy! So many different flavors. My new favorite treat is the cookie dough though! I usually go for the monster flavor (peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate candies...), but I tried butterbeer cookie dough yesterday and I think it’s my new favorite! Best cupcakes ever! I’ve always been picky about cake, but not when I go to scratch. Their cakes are always moist, creamy, and flavorful. Not to mention they also have cookies and cannolis! It’s always a treat to stop by and get a few of their one-of-a-kind flavors. Staff are extremely kind, too. If you’re still skeptical, stop by a try one for yourself. You won’t regret it!

The quality, variety of selection, and presentation of these marvelous cupcakes is amazing! The pairing of flavors is so excellent that it must have been done by a professional chef or a very loving mother! The cupcakes were solid, moist, light, fluffy, full of flavor, and the buttercream toppings are just beyond description. Prices are exceedingly reasonable; customer service was friendly, prompt, and very helpful. Whenever we are in this area, we will be sure to pick up a dozen for ourselves and a dozen to give to friends.

We were in town so we stopped by to see if we wanted something sweet after dinner. The cupcakes looked Amazing. I expected real buttercream frosting but what we got tasted very sweet. There wasn’t much cream flavor. The cookie dough ice cream is good.

Absolutely the BEST tasting cupcakes. Wide VARIETY makes it hard too choose. My very favorite is the Creme Brulee Cupcake. Elegantly presented to serve for any occasion. My sis n law grabbed a dozen for work - all different flavors with a nice cardboard carrier to keep them separated and looking good for travel. At $2.00 each, worth every penny.

Cupcake ppearance is delightful. However received 40 cupcakes through fundraiser and mishandling lead to cupcake failure. Taste and texture not impressive. Sugar granules in frosting is prominent. Overly sweet and flavor balance is off.

Their Just Dough is a great treat, though avoid eating it in large amounts unless you want to go into a sugar coma. Their cupcakes are consistently fantastic and my wife has me pick them up every year for her co-workers on her birthday, and I'm lucky if I get anything when they are done.

Called in short notice for an order of four cupcakes for the birthday of a family member that had flown in on his birthday for the funeral of this 23 year old daughter. When I came in right at closing time all the employees were extremely sincere and helpful. They had given me my order and happily let me know that it was all on them. During these difficult and stressful time, my family and I couldn’t have asked for anything else! Thank you all so very much!

Love, love, LOVE this place. I've honestly tried just about every bakery in the Des Moines area and Scratch definitely takes the cake (ha!). They have a vast variety of cupcakes on a daily, weekly, and montly rotation. You can also special order any of their creations if you buy the minimum quantities. If you want a truly amazing dessert experience, order two dozen of the mini cupcakes in all of the different flavors! Some of my favorites are the strawberry shortcake, and the no-bake oatmeal cookie.

Cupcakes tasted amazing🤤❤ (my favorite peanut butter pie). If you go to their "cupcake tasting" you recieve a discount towards your wedding purchase. Raquel helped us and found us exactly what we wanted. Unfortunately when I got my cupcakes some of them were missing flower designs that tied them into my theme. Raquel addressed it very quickly and made things right.

Best cupcakes! Coffee is not the greatest, not very many cold drink choices (i was hoping for milk). Limited seating, we had a group of 4 adults and 2 kids(5 year old and infant) and the 5 year old had to sit in one of those little high chairs to be at the table. People don't normally stay very long, but if you want to meet up here for a cupcake or two with a friend (or five), to hang out and catch up, keep that in mind.

I lived in Waverly when the original store opened in Cedar Falls & fell in love with these cupcakes. Last year, when we were looking for a wedding cake, Scratch was the obvious choice! We arranged an order with the West Des Moines store and they were perfect. Now 1 year later, we were so glad to pop in for a fresh cake instead of an old, frozen, sad one!

2 Things: - Scratch Cupcakery is amazing. - Anyone who tells you differently is a LIAR. I've been to many gourmet cupcake shops and have yet to find a better value. Cupcakes from some other places may taste *slightly* better, but they cost $4 each. Scratch sells large cupcakes for $2 a piece (lowest price I have EVER seen for gourmet cupcakes). They have a wide variety and are delicious. The buttercream on top is amazing. Special note: I saw a review from a "Local Guide" that said this business wouldn't be open for long. Don't believe it. They originally opened in Cedar Falls and have been growing like crazy ever since. Truly a small business that has found success (Cedar Falls, Waterloo, West Des Moines, Coralville, and a mobile cupcake truck).

I would say that this place is a must if visiting or having out of town friends. Amazing selection and creative flavors. Make sure to pick up the list that shows which flavors change based on day of the week, month, etc. I remember getting a vodka redbull cupcake here back in 2013. Early bird gets the worm here. If you get here in the last few hours, not as many flavors/types to pick from. However, that really isn't a negative because that is how the baking business model works. I was next to a lady that was being rude to an employee about the choices she had left (about 30 minutes to close) and the employee was so patient to explain that can't anticipate 100% of orders from a day to day basis.
