Like the donuts, slightly pricy. The big issue today at around 11:45AM was how my order was stuffed into one bag. When opened this is what they looked like. Inside the bag is a crushed Bismarck. Terrible! Lost 2 stars. Update 1/25/2022 - We've been back several times since this review and have not had a problem. Still great donuts, raised stars to 4. One star lost due to price.

They’re decent but I’m not super impressed, especially for the cost. The glazed donuts have more of a birthday cake flavor & texture than a donut, which is something I’d expect from a chain that has to make their product consistent. They’re like really fresh, better tasting grocery store donuts. These aren’t the super light, fluffy, fried donut that just melts in your mouth and is just sweet enough. It’s denser than a fluffy yeast-based donut you’d get at a hole in the wall “donut palace” type and much more commercially sweet. I’m new to CO, so this whole “raised” donut thing is new to me - they’re just glazed donuts in TX. Also, spending $17 on 4 glazed and 2 filled donuts is going to take some getting used to. Maybe that’s the norm here but I’ll keep trying to find a really good glazed donut in Denver for under $2.

Great donuts. I go all the way across town to get them. There was only one oops, the salesperson put a chocolate iced in the box instead of powder sugar that I got for my husband and it went in the trash. Plus, she was not careful about how she was stacking them in the box. Some got a little smushed. But otherwise, they tasted great

Amazing place with amazing donuts!! The employee seemed tired and stressed when we walked in, but she was SO lovely and kind even though we had walked on her newly mopped floors. Highly recommend!!

Our first experience at LaMar’s was fantastic! We tried four different donuts: Ray’s chocolate iced, chocolate iced cake donut with peanuts, devil’s food cake donut and sour cream old fashioned. They were all fresh and delicious, but our favorite was the original chocolate iced. Can’t wait to go back and try some of the more elaborate donuts! The coffee was pretty good too. The staff was really friendly!

Highly rated for a reason. We were in Denver for the night and stopped here on our way out of town. The maple bear claw was legit. No apple filling just cinnamon. We were offered samples of the regular and chocolate glazed donut holes. My eyes went wide after the first bite of the chocolate. Best in class for sure.

This is now my favorite donut place in Colorado! This had been the only place I could find a Long John donut in colorado (which I think they called a cream fluff filled chocolate bar). As you can see, it was massive. We got 4 great donuts and 2 coffees for I think only about $16! Just a very classic donut shop that doesn't have to compensate with crazy toppings *cough cough- voodoo donut*

The Ray Granulated Raised Sugar donut is to die for! I highly recommend this place. The donuts are sweet but don’t have a fake-sugary taste that many other donut shops fall victim to. The chai is pretty good and it’s all for a reasonable price. Good atmosphere and nice staff too. This is my new go-to donut shop!

Donuts are good but super sweet so make sure to only get the one that you really want, I suggest the french cruller and the donut holes if you want something small, or the apple fritter if you want something on the larger side.

This place is delicious and the donuts are bigger than other places. They have many options including Blueberry jelly filled which was a nice surprise. I can’t wait to go back and try the coffee and more varieties of donuts.

I haven't had donuts in so long, but when I stopped by here the other week to buy my co-worker some donuts for their birthday, I was reminded of how great this place is. The guy at the counter was extremely patient and helpful and I went here because I knew that they would taste delicious. They didn't last more than an hour once I make it into work. (a dozen donuts for seven people). These donuts are (in my opinion) the best in town! You should definitely dry their old fashion donut! It is amazing, but honestly they all are. The blueberry cake, the sprinkled, the pumpkin spice, and the fritters ... all good stuff. I don't treat myself (or my co-workers) to cake for breakfast very often, but when I do I want to make sure I am going to enjoy this once in a blue moon treat to the fullest. That's why I always like to get my donuts from here. Any time of day, these donuts are always tasty and fresh. Also, since I'm sure this is seasonal - you should try the pumpkin spice donut dipped in coffee ... it's so good.

Disappointed, I drove 20 minutes to to go to this donut shop instead of one closer because I heard that they were really good. Unfortunately I got home to find out that the girl who took my order got three out of six of my donuts completely wrong. Instead of 2 bavarian cream I got blueberry cake and instead of a chocolate cake donut my son got a maple glazed donut, really disappointed as neither of these is what I or my son wanted.

Good lord, this place has thee best donuts I’ve ever had, hands down. The light flaky ness on the outside complimented by the warm, soft, inviting fluffy inside. All brought together by the beautiful milk chocolate that melts in your mouth, not your fingers. I’d go for these donuts any day of the week, twice on Sunday. These are to kill for.

Does it have ambiance? No. Does a donut shop need that? Absolutely not. Lamars has the best donuts in town by a long shot. Sure, Voodoo Doughnuts are crazy cool and different, and Habit Doughnuts has a raspberry streusel white chocolate number that I have waking dreams about, but if you want a REAL and classic donut (or 3) look no further. They’ve perfected their craft, and make the best Bavarian Cream custard I’ve ever had. One bite of a Lamar Bar and you’ll feel like you’re in the Alps.

You can't get a bunch of donuts with cereal on them here...but what you do get are big, fresh, delicious donuts at a better price than those bacon maple donut places lol. Sure ,those trendy places are fun but sometimes you just want a great donut and if that's what you want, Lamars is the best!

This is my favorite place to get donuts in Denver. So delicious and lots of choices. Haven't had the coffee but always get the bottled whole chocolate milk. I especially like the maple and cinnamon options! My kids love it too! GREAT service, very friendly.

Didn’t know donuts could be so good!!! They’re soft and light feeling (I could easily eat more than my body would like to handle). They all looked so good, I had to get help deciding from the staff. The employee who helped me was charismatic, polite, friendly, and helpful. I got the sour cream glazed, which it’s a perfect doughnut. I also got the pineapple doughnut which is a Wednesday exclusive. Again very soft, light, deliciously flavored with what taste like real ingredients. I bought two donuts and a small coffee for a little over 5 1/2 dollars. Seriously this place is perfect. Check 1: delicious donuts that aren’t over complicated or overpriced. Check 2: polite and helpful staff. Check 3: a well organized and clean store 🙌

Grown-up donuts. Yeasty, sweet smell when you walk in. The chocolate glazed donuts taste like real chocolate, not too sweet, a little kick to it, and the glazed icing is perfect. Light and fluffy. Will be back soon.

Apple Fritters, sugar coated, original glazed, crueller, plain cake, and chocolate donuts are all my favorite. They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And while I will agree with that statement, sometimes, a healthy indulgence is just what you need to put you in the right frame of mind to start your day. So that's why I got up a bit earlier than usual and on my way into work stopped by Lamar's Donuts on the corner of 6th Ave. and Kalamath in Denver. I picked up an assorted dozen, (for the morning crew, too, as I am not that indulgent) and I can honestly say that Lamar's deserves its reputation as one of the finest donut shops in the Metro area. The counter staff was very friendly, helped me in choosing a variety that would please just about everyone, (so next time I won't forget the jelly filled, I promise) and they were a perfect way to start the day. Every once in a while, you just have to enjoy a walk on the wild side. And one way to do this is enjoy a small indulgence that just makes the day a little more tolerable. And that tolerance comes in a box with some of the best donuts in Denver. Lamar's Donuts on the corner of Kalamath and 6th Ave. in Denver. Bravo Zulu, guys.

Great place to get a delicious donut. There's a great variety to choose from, but if you're looking for an over the top selection that incorporates various cereals and candies, this isn't the place. All of the donuts here look amazing and the ones I've tried, taste amazing. The old fashioned sour cram donut here is the best and you should definitely try it out.

Donuts are okay, don't know about the hype. Pretty pricey, bough 2 big donuts and 3 kid size and total up to $10, dang. The bread is good, not tough and dry, a little on the fluffier side but the glaze way too thick for me. The mini cherry glazed donut was not good at all. I expected something that taste more to almond extract but it taste like liquified cherry gummy, super artificial. The apple filled donut was good.

I love that their donuts arnt overly sweet like a lot of donut places too sweet can be sickening! You can tell it's a quality dough real fluffy with a perfect amount of toppings/or fillings not oozing all over your fingers. However they are over charging for maple bars saying it's a specialty donut. No a maple bar is just a maple bar

Love the consistency and great customer service here! After opting for Winchel's (closer to where we live) and being disappointed, I made the drive back here this morning..and they absolutely made everything better! The raspberry filled was on point as usual and staff was great! Used to come here regularly and wish I used google review back then so could have reviewed sooner, but better late than never :) keep up the great work!!

From the central location to the friendly folks behind the counter, this is a great stop if one is looking to grab some donuts or the like. The variety was wonderful, the quality was spot-on and unlike so many elements of the city these days-- the price was acceptable as well. Above all, though, what matters is the product, right? Well, for myself, that is indeed the case...and not only that-- I had to legitimately fight the urge to flip around and go right back after finishing (though, admittedly, most donuts have this effect; even if they're pretty lame). Fortunately, though, this place is far from such-- in fact, I can confidently say that, so long as I am alive and breathing, I will continue to make this a regular stop whenever I am overcome by my sweet-tooth. I believe it's inevitable, to be honest!

Best glazed raised donuts in Denver, always fresh. Wish they were open more hours. Pretty good coffee, too. The filled donuts are a little pricey, but overall a much better value than Voodoo Doughnuts. Much better glazed raised than Dunkin' Donuts, probably better than most Winchell's, too. 6th & Kalamath location is pretty quiet most of the time; There is seating, but nobody stays.

Average doughnuts. Good service. Blueberry Cake had the texture of a blueberry muffin (WRONG), still good flavor. I also sampled the cherry cake which had a subtle cherry flavor, I liked this. We've ordered plain glazed for the office before and the ratio is all wrong. Again texture is too fluffy and the size of the plain glazed are too large without enough icing. Krispy Kreme nails the plain glazed in comparison.

Listen guys I'm not proud of this but, I eat a lot of doughnuts. I will continue to eat a lot of doughnuts. So let this have, as much heft as one would, when regarding an expert. This is by far the best doughnut franchise or chain I have ever been to. Somehow even with something as simple as dough, they taking an old craft and made it relevant to modern taste. They also avoided too much of anything be that advertisement or too many varieties of donuts, etc. You are quickly served. And courteously attended to. All in all this place is easily five stars.

Stopped in on a Saturday Morning around 9:15, the selection was pretty slim and they were already out of light roast coffee. Settled on a bavarian cream and house blend coffee. The coffee was average with a slight hind of bitterness. The bavarian cream was average as well, very airy for a donut. The filling as tastless and almost nonexsistent, just a hint. This location was pretty busy when I stopped in, most visitors being disappointed that the selection was so small at this time of day. Either this location can get enough workers or they can't determine how many donuts they need to make in the moring for weekend. Also, how do you not just make more light roast coffee when the container is empty. All of these problems most likely stem from a corporate cost cutting measure.

Two things worth mentioning. First, the donuts are better than Voodoo. Not even a competition. And they accept credit cards. Second, not all Lamars are alike. 6th St seems to be the cleanest/most efficient.

Man people go crazy for these things. I was able to take some fresh Lamar's to a vendor and they just went go go gaga over these things. The line was long but the beautiful lady ... and the Manager rocked that line out. I had a truck, so if your in something big I recommend backing into a spot, it's a pain to back out and try to get back on 6th street.
