Overall a fun desert location in downtown cola. We enjoyed a late Friday night visit here with friends in town for the weekend. They were very busy when we arrived, as they are located in a trendy part of town, but we were seated quickly. Ordered cappuccino, hot chocolate, berry cobbler and GF raspberry lemon poppy seed cake slice. Everything was quite tasty, service more than satisfactory, but 4.5 stars for the music volume making it almost too hard to converse.

We ordered a red velvet and roulette white cake for dessert through delivery. We received two big slices of cake and shared them. The white cake had peanut butter and jelly filling with peanuts... I hate peanuts. The white cake was good though. The cream cheese icing on the red velvet cake was super sweet and a little overpowering. The cake was really good. We are packing to move but plan to visit the area again. Kaminsky's remains on our list of places to go.

While eating at Pearlz we noticed a walk through to a Dessert place next door. We found out that the owner owns both places so figured, why not give it a try as our dinner experience was so good. Regretfully it was in not as good as Pearlz. Found seating and ordered Hot Chocolate, Flavored Coffee and a Decaffeinated Cappuccino, Birthday and Chocolate Cake and NY Cheesecake. Service was ok but a bit cold as were all the coffee's and warm chocolate 2 ⭐. The Birthday Cake seemed a bit old 2 ⭐ with the Chocolate Cake and Cheesecake ok 4 ⭐. I regretfully cannot recommend this place but leave it up to you to decide.

Found this spot looking for a bakery. I did take out and the sweet lady, Brianna, assisted me with everything. It was difficult selecting what to get. I got the toasted marshmallow drink. For the cakes I got flutter butter, bailey red velvet, cheesecake and biscoff cake. The biscoff one was my favorite. I ate a small peice of them all and they were not a disappointment. The other drinks were so unique I hate I couldn't try them. Location is good for a 1st date.

This is Columbia’s best local, late night/special occasion dessert cafe. They have a revolving menu of desserts, great coffee and specialty drinks as well as a prime location close to all the downtown and Vista excitement. My go-to is their key lime pie but there are so many to choose from, you’ll never be bored! Highly recommend going here when bringing out of town visitors or just because - but watch out they get busy on weekends. Even with a packed restaurant, we had good service.

Kaminsky’s is so cute with such a friendly atmosphere. I’ve tried several of their drinks and desserts. The cake is almost always dry and seems a few days old and never fresh. The few drinks I’ve had there I have not liked, except the milkshakes! It’s a great atmosphere but not great food in my opinion! I keep giving it another shot because everyone loves it, maybe I’m ordering the wrong things? Staff is always nice tho!

Very good m&m cheesecake and key lime pie. We got our order to go but didn't get any silverware in bag. We stayed at a hotel so had to use coffee stirrer! I'll use anything handy to eat their dessert! Try to come here any time we are in Columbia.

The manager was super friendly, but the staff was sort of meh. My cake was not moist, and they didn’t cut me a whole piece. They do have whole milk, 2% milk, almond milk and one other type of milk.

I went to Kaminskys for my birthday with some friends. The cake slices are super huge. Big enough to take some home for later. The chocolate monster slice is so delicious! Also had a mug with hot chocolate. I would recommend to anyone and everyone!

I ordered the Twix Cake, others in the party ordered the mixed berry cobbler, and the cheesecake, The cake was about 1 1/4 inch in width and cost $6.95. The cake was dense and the frosting was incredibly sweet and thick. I Upon entering, the restaurant is very reminiscent of a full scale restaurant. Not having been there before was a little confusing as to whether a bakery or a full on restaurant, so when the hostess asked if we were dining in, I told her that we were just there for dessert. She said okay, "What do you want?" Well, we did not know due to the fact that we had not been there before. As we looked, we thought about sitting at the bar area, but three seats and the corresponding space were being taken up by employees wrapping silverware and placing straws in containers. We decided to get our items to go. We began to look at the desserts in the display case as the hostess watched us. Someone noticed a stack of menus near the hostess station and grabbed one. We began to peruse the menu ourselves and ordered. The three items we ordered took approximately 8 minutes to receive with the restaurant being at about 25% capacity. The design and atmosphere of the bakery is well thought out and beautifully done, the cake and cobbler were items that we really could and have got anywhere else.

We ordered red velvet and a roulette white cake for delivery, both were very good! The roulette flavor we got was PB&J, which I was apprehensive to try because I’ve never heard of a peanut butter and jelly cake, nevertheless it was great. We split both into 2 and still couldn’t finish both, the cake itself was moist.

While I love Kaminsky's cobblers, pies, cheesecakes, and shakes, the layer cakes and drinks leave a lot to be desired. The layer cakes (unless you get that coveted first slice) tend to be on the dry side from sitting in the case all evening. Some of the drinks are pretty good, but most are sickly sweet(which I guess should be expected from a dessert bar).

Amazing!! The tiramisu desert martini was the best espresso martini I have ever had. We were too full for dessert but they all looked unbelievable. Atmosphere and service was great. Will definitely be stopping by again before heading back to NY.

So sad about this location, it’s been going downhill over the last couple years. We went tonight and it took over 10 minutes to be greeted by our server, yet there were 4 people just standing around talking, 2 of them being managers. And almost every employee was on their phone. I think our server spoke 5 words to us, brought us the bill immediately after bringing our desserts and drinks, didn’t ask if we wanted more drinks or anything. Also another issue was one of the employees was dancing at the bar and like grinding on it…I mean come on. I am a prior business owner so I understand, but I also expect good quality service. They were not busy, in the slightest. $30 for 2 drinks and a small piece of pie just isn’t worth it. We likely won’t be back.

It’s a great place. Nice ambiance. So far I’ve only tried 3 items on the menu but I’ve enjoyed them all. They have the best chai latte I’ve ever had, hands down. It’s very flavorful, full, and creamy. Also the best lemon poppyseed cake I’ve ever had (with the caveat that the icing for it was too sweet & thick and honestly the wrong type of icing to pair with it, in my opinion). But the cake itself was moist and perfect. I look forward to future visits and trying other desserts.

It was fine. We waited about 15 minutes for a table got the cheesecake it wasn’t anything notable, $7 for a small piece of cheesecake. Friend got the chocolate cake it was huge and delicious, so good chocolate cake. Would not recommend the cheesecake. Waiter was friendly.

Skip the appetizer. Send the chips back to the kitchen. Save your calories for this dessert. The cakes were phenomenal. The coffee was well served, well layered, and full of flavor. I particularly enjoyed the summer liqueur, when life gives you lemons. My only regret is that I could not eat any slower nor stay any longer.

Friday night had a long wait. Most of the desserts are delicious, especially the cookie sundae. The keylime cake was less than desirable it was more like a lemon curd, the cake was flavorless, and the icing too sugary. The hot drinks are good but never hot enough.

Favorite dessert place! Would definitely recommend affogato coffee if you would like to try something new (its basically a shot of espresso poured over vanilla icecream). Also, their cake slices are yummy and soo filling, its a task to eat it all alone in one go.

Went on a Saturday evening, there was a 1hr wait time so returned on Sunday evening and this time there's wasn't a wait time and were seated immediately. The ambience is very good. We ordered brownie and cookie sundae, both were amazing. Will be returning back to taste other items in the menu. Also, they provide masks if you don't have one.

Always packed but so worth the wait to4 be able to indulge in these delicacies!!! Gr8 for an after dinner hot totti or dessert-thened adult beverage, w/ a grp, on a first date or jus to treat urself. Service is friendly and they all make recommendations based on what u feeling in the mood for..... it's really a hip joint w/ a very mixed crowd. Love it here and anytime I do feel like having that cheat meal and I'm in the area I'll defitively pass on through!!!

When we googled "Best Dessert Near Me" and stumbled upon Kaminsky's (which appeared at the top of the list), my fellow Google reviewers did NOT disappoint. If it was possible to rate a review 10 stars, this would be the place that earned it. From the incredible selection of cakes and pies to the uniquely crafted beverages which include both kid-friendly and adult-infused options, everything we tried (which included mousse pie, milkshakes, cake AND coffee) was top notch. Our waitress (who I regretfully did not catch the name of, though I know she told us) and every member of the staff we encountered during our "date night" (with our 6-week old baby) welcomed us in and were the reflection of true Southern hospitality. The decor, from the Topper's Rum bottles used for both water at your table (and those of us who ask for 10 refills during a visit "thank you") and as funky, creative lighting, the coolest statue of Bacchus (to accompany the wine found on tap), and the coffee pictogram wall which breaks down the difference between all the -ccino's, -ato's and -cito's (for those of us who didn't grow up in a Starbucks), the eclectic ambience and hip music only serve as the metaphorical cherry on top to the most delectable dessert and beverage selection found this side of the Mason-Dixon. The ONLY downfall we could find is that there isn't a Kaminsky's (or anything like it) in Central Florida where we live. Thinking we will have to stop by again before we head home, and already planning our order for our next trip to Columbia.

They’re always crowded but friendly. The desserts are delicious yet sometimes the icing on the cakes are overly sweet. Red velvet is the fave, banana pudding cake is worth mentioning too and the coffee.

Came in just for key lime pie for my grandmother. She’s in rehab and it’s her favorite dessert, so I wanted to bring her a treat. It definitely was a treat! Great service and an excellent pie! Devine, exquisite, delightful. A perfect balance of the sour lime and sweet cream with a crust that is crumbly goodness. She loved it and said, “Ooo, it’s the best pie.” I also love that they use biodegradable to-go containers. I will definitely be back to try more and I will bring my grandma when she is healthy again.

Is it possible to make room for dessert after dessert? Kaminskys taught me that yes, it is. Wonderful atmosphere, classy joint but laid back at the same time. Delicious desserts AND good drinks? Heaven. The strawberry cake was to die for!! If you're a strawberry fan, it's a must have. All of the staff were so refreshingly friendly ❤ (fully private single bathrooms are also a plus)

Pretty cool place! My fiancé and I got the white chocolate raspberry Martini and the Samoa cookie Martini. It will definitely give you a little buzz. We also ordered the smores cake, but it was dry and tasted like a normal chocolate cake. Other than that, we loved the atmosphere!

I got the Chocolate Raspberry Cake and it was delicious. The price was reasonable for the huge slice and it tasted great. The chocolate icing was a great flavor. Just the right amount of sweetness and not tasting like straight dark chocolate. The raspberry filling was sweet and a great combo to the chocolate. I would definitely go here again.

The desserts are tasty and good quality. They are expensive though. I guess you are paying for the quality and the ambiance. The ambiance is nice. However, the music is way too loud. You can't sit here and have a nice conversation with others. There is a bathroom available. You will need to find street parking.

I have been here a few times, and it's always a wonderful experience. The wait staff is very friendly and service is excellent. I especially love the eclectic environment, and the desserts are always very tasty and well prepared. My favorite cake ever is red velvet, and Kaminsky's is without a doubt the best I've ever tasted. The portions are easily sharable as the servings are huge, with slices of cake being thick and three tiered. Whether you're just a tourist or a local wanting an interesting dining experience, this place is fantastic.

This is one of my favorite dessert places on Columbia. It's a great date night spot or a good stop after dinner to grab dessert with friends. Very nice atmosphere and convenient location. They have a large selection of desserts in the display case up front and lots more Choices on the menu. I love the cookie sundae. It's huge!! Tollhouse pie & cheesecake are also great choices.

Edit: We did go back and try again per their response. We were seated and had a great experience. We planned a double date and went to eat dinner and planned at ending for dessert at kaminskys. We arrived at 10:30, thirty minutes before the scheduled closing time posted on the door and website and they would not seat us. The hostess was about to seat us and all of the sudden they decided it was last call. We would have been out by 11- the scheduled closing time. We have been trying to support local businesses during this time but this experience was very disappointing.

By far one of the best dessert restaurants I have been too, and the fact that they are open late night is phenomenal! Great coffee beverages as well, I now frequent this place at least once a week! If you see the mint chocolate chip cheesecake in the case get it, it is worth every calorie!

Awesome selection of wine on tap (yes, poured from taps!) as well as spirits, beer, and coffee, massive cake slices (shareable) and pie, "adult" milkshakes, as well as other dessert options. Bar and table (with a server) seating availible. Good for a dates and small or large groups of friends. A not to be missed spot in the Vista after a great meal (Pearls Oyster Bar is attached, you can walk straight through to either.)

This place is a great place to enjoy after dinner. The cakes are delicious and the the drinks can have alcohol. There is plenty of seating so you can bring some friends to hang out and enjoy some great food. The staff is very nice and always willing to let you know what they would suggest you try. My wife and I first visit her and we loved it! The milkshakes are amazing especially with the adult option to add if needed. We got the Reese Cup shake which was as delicious as it sounds. It will surely put you in b peanut butter heaven if you're a fan of PB like we are. We will return!

This is by far the best dessert and coffee bar downtown. The vibe is chill and relaxing and they stay open late too. If you’re looking for authentic and freshly made desserts than this is your place. Don’t forget to check out the chalk wall for the coffee too.

The good: the desserts are amazing. I would go back here just to eat their gluten free chocolate cake. The bad: we ordered two slices of dessert and two cocktails. The desserts came very quickly. I waited 15 minutes after that for my cocktail. It was very strong. Good if you are looking to get wasted, bad if you want to enjoy your drink. I couldnt taste anything but the liqour. My sister's drink took another 10 minutes after that. The poor waiter had to go to in the back and get the liquor for her drink. Her mint drink was also undrinkable. It tasted like medicine and alcohol. We sent both our cocktails back. Our poor waiter had 8-9 tables and as doing his best to keep up. There were lots of staff, but I don't know what they were doing.

Came here for the first time on a first date. Amazingly upbeat yet relaxed atmosphere, courteous, friendly, and helpful staff on what to order. Dessert’s to die for!! Brownie Sunday was warm out the oven chocolate brownies with cool ice cream on top which made for an awesome combination! Portions are large enough to share but we each enjoyed our own. Definitely a stop you have to make, will be making plenty more visits here

Awesome place for dessert on Gervais. Not a large establishment and usually slammed after 7 p.m. so if you want to sit down expect a wait but they let you order stuff to go. Their available cakes and pies is different every day so if you see something you want, you should get it because it might not be there the next time. Also if you call a few days in advance, you can order whole cakes/pies for personal events, you just pay when you pick it up.

Desserts are phenomenal! Very popular place so be prepared to wait. My only beef is that they bring you water but it's not cold and they don't put ice in the glasses-unless you request it.

I ordered two slices of cake to go. Fast, courteous service. I ordered a $10 margarita also. Organic tequila, etc., good ingredients. BUT, it was thrown together and NOT shaken. Please... if you're charging ten bucks and HIGHLY advertising it on the menu, give me a quality drink. 10/09/2016 5:23 PM 80003 PS, I enjoyed the cake that evening at home. I'll return for dessert but wasting a ten spot on a cocktail left a bad taste.

Every time I come here, I come with high expectations and leave disappointed that those expectations weren't met. They're okay, it's just that, in my opinion, their cakes don't really shine and stand out. I have had their chocolate cake (not dense enough and too sweet without a sort of dynamism that would make it stand out like a bit of a dark chocolate twist), red velvet cake (WAYYYYYYYY TOO SWEET) and a snickerdoodle cake (the snickerdoodle flavor was just overly sweet filling in the center and the rest of the cake was bland). It's decent and with some slight alterations to their recipes the cakes could be great. K should mention that their milkshakes and cobblers are well reviewed and received. Try those.

Dessert aficionados don't know what they're missing. Kaminsky's makes some of the most delicious and creative milkshakes (with adult versions of course), bringing all the boys to the yard. Good place for couples and groups alike. They could only improve with a more efficient seating scheme.

The name was fitting as it was a huge slice of cake and it and the ice cream were both delicious. I finished it all, but some will find it difficult to eat it all.

Updated review: Sadly, today was a bad visit. As much as I hate leaving bad reviews, this is necessary. You should never speak to your customers in a condescending manner. When I order a menu item and request something extra, I am welling to pay extra. Do not skimp me nor speak down to me when I question it, just because you had to remake the product because you sent it out cold. We have visited both restaurants alot. We know what everything we order should taste like. Managers should NOT be too friendly, it makes it hard to correct lower management. Xavier and Scott are to thank for my unpleasant experience today. We packed our children up to have a fun late night experience. Unfortunately, it wasn't as fun as we were hoping for. Granted, Scott did apologize for our experience. However, the manner in which he addressed our issues, weren't professional. Brownie sundae!!!!

On a recent trip to Columbia, SC I stopped in Kaminsky's for a slice of pie. The day I stopped in they were out of pie and the nice lady at the register told me to come back the next day for "pie day". I returned the next day. Since I was traveling alone, I asked for the pie to go so I could enjoy in my hotel room. I was charged double to get the small slice of pie to go. I don't see how that is fair.

While the atmosphere is great, the bartenders are pretty sour. My friend who is well over 21 was not being served because the bartender insisted that she was using false identification, even after my friend showed her a few different forms of ID and told the bar tender that she could call the DMV if she really wanted. Just because you are based in a pre-dominantly college area does not mean you can be that rude and uptight about ID's. It was very frustrating that this bartender could not wrap her head around the fact that some people over 21 look young. Eventually, we talked to the manager and my friend was able to be served.
