We heard and read about this bakery and their famous "hot dog" donuts. Don't worry, no hot dog which I hate, just a fresh soft damn good donut with a whipped cream type filling. We come from an area that is known for mom n pop donut shops and have not found any to even compare with the donuts from our home town in the Midwest. Well... We finally found it. May be the best donuts we've ever had! Even my husband who is not a sweets eater loved them. The freshness level is beyond crazy, melt in your mouth fresh! We tried a variety of a couple options, as you see in the picture, and I can truly say each was just as good as the one before. Wishing we bought more but thankful we didn't because we would have shoveled it all down! Well done Spring Hill Pastry, you went above my expectations and standards for a great donut. Also- If there is a line to order don't worry- it goes fast but even if it didn't it's worth the wait!

My only regret is not getting more pictures! These are some of the best pastries I have tasted! Until our recent visit with family in WV, I had never been to SHPS. Once we arrived, my Uncle David told me that he loved their Hot Dogs. What a funny thought, a pastry shop selling Hot Dogs? But he laughed and told me about these fascinating "Hot Dogs". In our 4 day stay, I managed to try these, the Creme-filled Brownies, Chocolate Covered Buttercream Icing Cupcakes, Lemon Meringue Pie, and their Donuts. 🤤🥐🍩🎂🥧😋 Btw, the Hot Dogs are pictured, a hot dog shaped pastry with a delicious cream icing throughout the middle sprinkled with powdered sugar. 🤤 Spring Hill, you rock the Charleston, WV area! My Mom brought goodies home to SC for us; needless to say, they did not have an extended stay! If we lived closer, I would have a difficult time not indulging in a daily treat! Two thumbs way up for Spring Hill Pastry Shop; you do WV proud! 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻 *my favorites were the Hot Dogs, Creme-filled Brownies, and the Chocolate Covered Buttercream Icing Cupcakes* 🧁

No words describe how fantastic this place is. This place is 40 minutes away for me, and u would travel twice that if it means I get some of the best pastries in the world. My son and I waited in line for 15 minutes. Thats ok because had the best hot dog pastry within 75 miles and cinnamon rolls was out of this world . Thank you for making my little buddy so happy. Also if there is a line… that’s a good thing!! It’s a sign that it’s yummy and delicious!

My first time going in they had so many options I wasn't sure what to get. I got the glazed doughnut and it was good nothing special but then I got what they call a hot dog and it was life changing!!! The filling was not super sweet but had just the right amount of sweetness.

First time at this bakery, on the advice of a friend. The shop was busy well staffed and all the items looked delicious. Cakes, pies and pastry so many choices. The lady who waited on was friendly and helpful. I purchased four eclairs. They were delicious. I'll definitely visit again on my next visit to Charleston.

I usually add pictures to my reviews but unfortunately this time I did not, I just dove in 😍😋 I will say that the pictures you see on thier photos are truly to par. I have copied a picture here to show that they truly look as they do in this photo. The beautiful pastries you see with chocolate drizzeled on them are called Dogs I do believe and they are to die for and I prefer the ones without the chocolate but both were great to eat. We also tried the canolas and it was like eating a cloud it was so soft. We have never ate anything so soft and so delicious at the same time when it comes to bakery. The only upsetting thing is....wait for it...........thier not at my hometown. Please give Spring Hill Pastery Shop your business when visiting Charleston or hey just jump off the interstate and grab some for your trip, you will not be disappointed I promise you. Good pastries of all sorts. We got an assortment to try different things. It was all pretty good. I personally liked the Apple squares with icing. My daughter loved the maple pastry. The chocolate cupcake was delicious too. They are famous for the long eclair things. They were good.

Wow!! Walking through the door is like stepping back in time, (with exception of all the plastic money), where employees are friendly, kind, courteous, and actually care about their job! After receiving recommendations from friends, I ordered a birthday cake for my wife and went by to pick it up. It turned out beautifully! While in the shop, I picked up a dozen rich and decadent hotdog pastries! Everything was delicious! I highly recommend Spring Hill Pastry Shop and will be returning soon!

I went to Springhill Bakery to order a birthday cake for my daughter's second birthday, It was a very beautiful cake, it was a great texture and very big we had 30 people at the party and we had enough cake to take home! The only complaint I have is the icing was a little too sweet for my liking but then again I'm not a big icing fan, everyone else loved it. I ordered a cookie platter and ask for little star cookies on the platter,also with the big cookies but they didn’t have any or call me to ask what i would like to substitute. The cashier was willing to make a new platter for me she was trying very hard to appease I was just so disappointed in the size of the cookies and even though they said there were 4 pounds of them. i just thought 32$ of all little cookies was not what I expected or was impressed with. So i now know to go in and pick them out myself. I did get two hotdogs and they were as delicious as ever.

Same great sweets and treats since before I was born. Owner is a family-friend but they treat all customers like family. Quality desserts at fantastic prices. Personally love their homemade donuts and pecan rolls. Also purchased my wedding cake from here and couldn't have turned out more perfect. Stopped by due to a recommendation...amazing is all I can say. I was there shortly after they opened and was welcomed by the smell of warm, fresh pastries. The donuts are fantastic, no matter which you choose. DO NOT WALK OUT WITHOUT AT LEAST A DOZEN HOTDOGS!! I'm not sure the origin of these wonderful, creme/custard filled delights but I don't imagine anyone can make anything better. One bite and you realize you've never tasted a good pastry until that moment. I would fly to Charleston just to buy a dozen and fly home.....thats how good they are. I wish they could be delivered to Chicago.

Love this place. Each time I visit Charleston this is a must have I terms of doughnuts. Now some of you may think just your normal bakery. No I say. You have to try their hotdogs. I literally will ask them to wrap them I. The box and then wrap them to preserve for my coworkers. My coworkers know they were made a couple of days ago and they still have about them. The staff is extremely helpful. They are pleasant and will try to take care of accurately and efficiently as possible. If you're afraid they may run out of product you can call into their location. The location itself hasn't changed in a good while. Classic bakery with that hometown feel. Located off the main road in South Charleston. Parking is limited and there is no parking lot. So you may have to walk a block or two due to them being so busy. Pies and cakes are also available. Enjoy this treasure when you visit.

Spring Hill Pasty has the best pastries I've tasted in a while. Stopped in one day after a Dr appointment they were very friendly and helpful. Although they were out of alot they told me that you have to there kinda early to get the good stuff, lol because they stay very busy because of all the Dr offices and they have a lot of regulars who will call in orders. But even what I got was sooo yummy I was still very satisfied. Definitely worth visiting.

Hot Dog. Hot Dog, Hot Dog Hot Dog, Hot Dog. Hot Dog. I think I made my point. Oh, and get there early...by early, I mean within the first hour...maybe ninety minutes (if you want to get a Hot Dog - and you want to get a Hot Dog). For those that don't know, first I pity you, but second, a Hot Dog is a long John type donut, split down the middle, cream filled, powder sugar dusted, with or without a drizzle of chocolate. I've probably explained this poorly, but you get the idea. It's the "thing"! It doesn't matter how many they make, they sell out early. They're what everyone at your workplace craves when they see a Spring Hill box. On this trip, I also bought a Boston Creme donut...and wow, fantastic. And multiple times I've had a Spring Hill cake, and that is the premier cake to get! You definitely need to go...tomorrow morning (early)!

What can I say about a small privately owned bakery with generation s of recipes that are made with love and more than 50 years of service? Pure perfection. It is THE place to go for any type cake you want.... especially wedding.... if you need a quick stop for desserts for a party or gathering this is where you go. You will savor every bite and never have remorse on eating that 2nd cookie or brownie because you can taste every home cooked element in every bite. Hope they stay open forever!!

On Valentine's Day we purchased some West Virginia hot dog pastries and they were delicious. For special occasions as this it is best to call ahead of time a few days and make your order because they were all gone by the time we got there. They have a large selection of pastries, parking is on the street and poor. If you park across the street from the pastry shop you will be blocking traffic and possibly get your mirror hit.

Spring Hill Pastry is without a doubt the best bakery known. I am 70 and have been going there since i was a kid. For many years I have not lived in WV but make sure I can go when I am back. Their vacation for two weeks over the 4th of July often makes it difficult. I have lived just outside NYC, NC, VT, DE and WA state and only Olympia, WA had a bakery that came close to how good this place is. We all have had our favorites. I have always like their white cookies. They fancied up the name and now they call them wedding cookies. My daughter loved the star cookies and I always make sure I bring back several dozen for her. We all think their white wedding cake is the best made. There cream horns, chocolate eclairs, cream puffs and on and on are just the best. If people want to complain because an exhausted staff closes before they get there to bad. None of us are that special. They close when they close. I am sure people call every single day asking them to stay open just a little bit for them. Be considerate of them and don't ask this staff that has been on their feet for hours to stay late.

I tried to get a birthday cake for my daughter done here, but because it wasn't a design they normally do, the decorator said no. The pastries and cookies are great. I always get the star cookies when I go in. I always got them as a child whenever we would go to the shop, and they are a childhood favorite that I have passed on to my daughter and granddaughter.

I grew up in South Charleston and moved away in 1981. 34 years later I still make it a priority to visit Spring Hill Pastry when I visit my family. The hot dog pastry is a real piece of heaven!!! I remember riding to work with my dad many times when he would drop in at the pastry shop before they opened, using the side entrance and getting a dozen donuts for his crew. My parents and brother lived in an apartment around the corner adjacent to the pastry shop before I was born. My mother told me the story that she would give my brother a nickel to walk down the stairs to pastry shop to get a cup cake. I can honestly say that I cannot ever remember having anything less than excellence in taste and service!!!!!!!

This Pastry Shop is off the charts. When people told me I just had to have it, I was like it's a bakery. Now I drive 45min to get a "hotdog". Yes, I said Pastry Shop and hotdog in the same sentence. If you are ever near Charleston, WV you should stop in and ask for a hotdog. It will be something to write home about
