Reviews of Bova's Bakery

Visited here after a recommendation instead of a different pastry shop. So, so delicious! Staff was kind, line was not unbearably long, and fair prices. Highly recommend if you're in the area and are saving your calorie count on delicious pastries in the North End 😀 they accept CC including Amex …
Patrick McKenna
Wanted to try somewhere that wasn’t one of the big pastry shops in town. After hearing all the rave reviews this place lives up to it! It was so delicious!! The staff was kind, the prices are great and the line moves really fast. Definitely the best pastry shop I’ve tried in Boston hands down. Would highly recommend. They accept credit card and cash. No parking outside. In fact don’t even try to park in the North End. Take the T or park outside of the North End and walk if you have to drive into Boston.

One of the best 24/7 bakery in Boston North End. Lots of Varieties, very crowded on the weekends, but a very well-organized crowd.
There’s no dine-in, nor a guest bathroom 🚽
But, you will really enjoy the tasty selections.
Watch out, no parking, and no wheelchair access.
Alan Varghese
24 hr bakery whipping up delicious Boston cream pie and a whole lot of sweet goodies including giant cannolis, pizza pies, calzones, Italian family dinners and a whole lot more. They also sell birthday cakes and custom cakes for events.
The line usually moves quickly as they have multiple servers. The prices are not displayed for most items but they are mostly below $5 per item. The sizes of the pastries are definitely above average.

Bova’s Bakery, an iconic bakery in Boston’s North End. Bova’s is open 24 hours a day and has a variety of pastries and baked goods to choose from! Their cannolis are delicious and the staff is extremely friendly. Would highly recommend stopping by Bova’s Bakery, especially during those late nights
Kelly Cambridgeport
Of the three mainstay bakeries in the North End -- Mike's Pastry, Modern Pastry, and Bova's, I prefer Bova's overall for its food. The lobster tail, cream puffs, chocolate laced cookies, strawberry shortcake, sandwiches, and creme brulee are all terrific. Bova's is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, year round.
This bakery is run by three extended families of the original Bovas. They take turns working, usually each family works a certain amount of time like 6 months, then passes the duties to another extended family. Two of the families are super nice. One of the extended families is okay -- the older lady was helpful, but there was a man who didn't want to wait on me.

This was a fantastic bakery to visit. They had so many delicious options it can be difficult to decide what to get. It was very busy the couple of times we visited but the line goes fast. They are always open and the staff is very friendly. The food was amazing and was a highlight of our trip.
TheLeakingGenius
Great cannolis! The chocolate dunk!!! Wish I'd gotten 2 of those instead of 1 regular and 1 dunk. But they were both great! Though you don't need Google reviews to know that, a line out the door in the evening when we went!
Bryan Doyon
This the bakery to go to in the North End, slightly off the beaten path and delicious items. Unassuming and less commercial than others in the area, the food is far better than their competition and the place to go for those who know. Do yourself a favor and get the lobster tails or cookies.
Lisa Marquis
Found this bakery while wondering around Boston's North End. It's one street off the busiest area so no long lines around the block. But the sizeable selection of beautiful and delicious bakery items had plenty of customers. Efficient staff handled the busy day nicely. Croissants and coconut cake are very tasty.
Vanessa Dieterly
Great little Italian bakery with a huge selection. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. Service is pretty quick, even for it being busy. Cute shop on a cute street! Good prices. I've loved everything I've had from here.
Sara Ansari
Unlike Mike’s Pastry or Modern Pastry, they accept credit card & apple pay. And not only do they have a comprehensive cannoli & dessert selection, you can also get arancini & sandwiches. There’s no place to sit and only grab & go, but the food is worth it!
Lana
Wonderful bakery with everything you could ever want in pastries. We found this place on Trip Advisor and it is definitely gem in little Italy. There are a couple places that serve well known pastries like cannoli which Bova also offers in several flavors. I would say take the time to go to this bakery and you won't regret it. Owned and operated by some delightful ladies we had a great conversation with and got to know better. You will not regret visiting Bova.
Will Langston
Excellent baked goods, a wide and tempting selection. The staff were really helpful. I took a picture of it the last time I was in Boston in 2016 to be sure we came again. Worth every inch of the 3 mile walk from the hotel to get there. We got a range of things, and one thing I really like is that they put a proper amount of filling in everything. The raspberry turnover was particularly stuffed.
Jacob Obradovich
I had the peanut butter cheesecake. Very tasty. Service was quick and prices were very fair. $7 for the cheesecake and a bottle of water. What more can you ask for!
Carnival of Flavors
This place is supposed to be one of the best in the city and it definitely is but I wish the staff was just a bit courteous and we didn’t have to wait there for 20 mins unattended and then yell out our order across the room.
Apart from the staff, the desserts our really good. Definitely try the Florentine Cannoli, Tiramisu and Creme Brûlée
Julia Suzuki
Found this place in social media. So glad I came here unlike the other two bakeries. They have a wide selection, staff was very friendly. The cannoli's were nice and crispy even at 8 pm. I would come back to try the other baked items when I come back to Boston. Just a FYI there is a minimum for card use, so if you can use cash.
Michaela S
The line was short and the options were amazing. So many baked goods to choose from, but the lobster tail and tiramisu cup were delicious!
Sneha Upadhyay
Delicious and amazing bakery ay North end. Love this place. They had so many amazing options and was so difficult to decide what to have since everything looked so yummy. I got the cannoli and was mouth watering. Just lerfevt amount of sweetness. If you are visitng boston please walk up to this place. When we went not much lines and affordable rates. The staff is very kind and helpful. I am glad i went to this place.
BeantownEater
Busy spot but they are pretty smooth in the transaction. We were in and out within 5 mins. Boston cream donut look beautiful. It tasted sweet and fluffy. Definitely need to be back
Josh Baltazar
Got a Steak Arancini (Cheese Rice Ball) and Oreo Cannoli. They both were hella good. Line is out the door but goes quickly. The Arancini was superb as well as the Cannoli.
Lindsay LeBoeuf
Amazing North End bakery with lots of sweet and savory options. Waited in line for about 15 minutes before ordering at 10pm on a Friday night. The line started along the street outside and wrapped around the display cases inside which gives you a chance to check out all of the options before it's your turn to order. I found it helpful to check out the menu online while waiting outside so I could Google menu items I've never heard of and order quickly to keep the line moving as the employees do their best to process all orders efficiently. Everything looked so amazing and anything that seemed to run out was quickly replenished.
It was noted that the tiramisu was the best in the country--my husband loved it but it was a bit too dry and boozy for me. If you like cannoli, do yourself a favor and try the Florentine cannoli; the shell is a delicately rolled Florentine cookie (caramelized sugar and nuts) with the cannoli filling piped in. It was massive and delicious!
Masks required to enter the building, $10 minimum to use a card, and it can be difficult to find parking in the narrow streets of the North End but is a quick walk away if you are coming from the Garden. Security guard keeps the line moving and is very friendly.
Thorin Teak
Super friendly staff with lots of amazing pastries. Fresh hot coffee and lots of cheer. Open 24 hours.
Richard Nelson
It was a decent bakery. Nothing I would right home about. But hey had to try it and its open 24 hours. Wasn't a traditional boston creme pie and tasted alright.
Ben Park
The people working here are nice. The canoli was amazing as was the fruit tart. I wouldn’t recommend the cheesecake.
Dude
In A Nutshell:
-Bova's Bakery is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
-This is great for all you morning birds & night owls, busy people, lazy people & everyone in-between.
-I was able to check this place out mid-week around 9pm & it was PACKED.
-As soon as you walk up to the entrance, you'll stand in a line which snakes around the interior of the small bakery.
-During this time of standing in line, you'll be able to scope out all of the sweets & other savory goodies they sell like calzones, pizza, cannoli's, etc...
-The prices are gentle on the wallet or purse too.
Overall, this is a cool Italian bakery located in the heart of the North End of Boston.
Linda Inkiriwang
I was happy that we came here since the other pastry shops had a long line. The line here moved pretty quickly. They got so many delicious pastries to choose from. I got crème brûlée cannoli and Nutella cannoli. They both were very good. The place is pretty small so you have to order for take out.
Jennifer
Desserts are great, no complaints there, but the older lady working was pretty rude and impatient. We both left thinking the same thing. She's the first and only person we've encountered in Boston who was rude over the last few days. So I guess she only likes serving people who are regulars and know what they want to order the second they step in. Don't even think about asking her a question, apparently that's taking it too far. There wasn't even really a line, just one other visiting family behind us trying to decide as well, so the rush made no sense. The younger guy working was the exact opposite...
Matthew
This place had quite a bit of character. I felt a blast from the past inside. The line moved relatively fast. Spent $25 for a lobster tail, 2 Boston cream pies, and 2 cannoli. It was pricey but we felt it warranted the price these days.
Ellen Sciales
Has honestly been getting more and more crowded over the years — the line today was wayyy down the block! Moved quickly though. They have all the traditional Italian pastries (cannolis, etc), as well as calzones, pizzas, arancini and other good snack foods
Mike H
Thank you for supporting our troups! You're truly remarkable and real patriots. We need more proud Americans like you all.
Daniel JW
Bova's is hands down in my opinion the best bakery in the north end. The food is so good, and the coffee is absolutely fantastic. Yes, they do get crowded, but like any good place its worth the wait. It is a well known bakery in Boston's North End, of course it will be busy! The best part is how they are 24/7!
K O
This bakery had so many things to choose from. The staff is friendly and the cannolis were fresh and delicious. It’s located in a nice area too (lots of restaurants and a great place to take a walk)
They are also open 24 hours, which is perfect for a late night dessert.
Maria Hennen
So many things to choose from! I wish I could have gotten 1 of everything! The cannolis were great and the Boston creme cake was to die for. I actually got it for my son but ended up eating most of it myself. 🐷 I also got a lobster tail and that was good too! 4 cannolis, 1 lobster tail and 1 slice of Boston creme cake was $27. I don’t know is that is a good price or not as I never go to a bakery much less an Italian bakery. We really don’t have them in rural MN. Ha
Justine Palin
We stayed in the city overnight for our anniversary recently and decided to stop here after our friend recommended Bova's to us. We tried a Boston cream donut, an eclair, and a peanut butter bomb. Everything was amazing, but the donut was the star of the show. We had to make another visit before we left the next morning because everything was so delicious. The best bakery I've ever been to.
Susan Bell
Fantastic Italian bakery with absolutely the best cookies and just about every other pastry you can imagine. Better than grandma made (sorry Grandma)
Fatima Baig
I LOVE this bakery. Their cannolis are delicious and they have a huge assortment of items. Best part, they're open 24 hours a day!
Clay J
Make your way to North End and come hungry. Stumbled upon this bakery, it was packed on a Saturday afternoon. We got the Oreo and classic cannolis - either was great! Can’t go wrong. BTW $10 minimum on credit card transactions.
Hannah Pestano
i got the cannolis to bring all the way back to stl! it’s so good! def worth it! but i tried their boston creme and ordered tiramisu cake sadly they were out but the cup was good too! 🤌🏼 …
Lauren Sweet
I did so much research on the best cannolis in Boston before my trip. The research led me to Bovas being the best due to taste, limited lines, and them being piped fresh. So when I arrived and saw them prepiped you can imagine my surprise when I arrived and saw a display of prefilled cannolis. I asked if I could get one freshly made and the gentleman kindly told me they serve the ones in the display until the sell out and then make more fresh. He did however go to the back and make a fresh Florentine cannoli for me since there were none ready. Overall the taste was good. The Florentine was like nothing I ever tasted. The creme brulee was pretty tasty, the shell was a bit plain but filling was yummy.
Ayon Ibrahim
Much shorter lines than at Mike’s and Modern, and I think just as good. Was a little concerned about the cannoli because it was prefilled, but it was actually pretty good! Pizza was fine.
Feeling Borte
Wow! Ordered the peanut butter, Nutella and crème brûlée cannoli 😋 with lobster tail. Absolutely delicious. …
Karen Stephensdottir Van Wagner (Rock Jumper)
Came in Saturday (3/19/22) afternoon to get some treats. The store is always clean and well-stocked with delectables, and as always it's hard to choose from so many delicious offerings! It would have been overall perfect if the girl at the counter was friendlier and didn't seem like she didn't want to be there. Still, the cannoli and desserts were rich and scrumptious, as always, abs well worth the trip there.
GRK NRG
I wouldn't say these were the absolute best quality and best tasting I've ever had however, they were very friendly there. The things we bought were wrapped well and we did enjoy them all. We have been twice already and would go again, if we were in the neighborhood. Flavors are good. Place is clean. Prices could be better but I say that about everything these days. There's always a line when we visit so I guess that's a good sign..lol.
Tiffany N. Arango
This place was highly recommended to us by a local tour guide we had. When we went, there was a short line. It moved pretty quickly. My husband loved the cannolis he got. I chose not to try anything.
Not a welcoming atmosphere. The place appears very unkept, both in and outside. There was an "emergency" boarded piece of plywood instead of a window, so maybe we just went at a time where it looked even more unkept. The staff were neutral, not friendly or welcoming.
For those who want to sit down to eat at a bakery, this isn't that style. Limited spacing for standing in line and no tables or chairs.
Jocelyn Leivancore
Went here a couple months ago during a night out in the North End and the cannolis were absolutely delicious! I wish I tried some other stuff but the line was crazy long and I was trying to go easy on the staff because I could have tried everything in there! 🤣 place is small but is packed to the brim with goodies so no matter what you like - you’re bound to find something yummy in here.
Maria Loera
Fantastic and authentic bakery in the North End. This establishment is open 24/7 and has been operating for 90 years! The chocolate they use is absolutely delicious. They do accept credit card payments for sales over $10.
Elizabeth Krogue
Open late. Some of the items are better earlier in the day as they are fresher.
There are so many options to choose from here. Food and pastries or desserts.
The creme brulee was very creamy and had a nice vanilla flavor.
The lobster roll was a little dry and the filling inside didn't have much flavor.
Joe Dulock
As a local, this is the best Italian bread you can find in Boston. For just $2.00 you can get an amazingly fresh small scali bread and I usually finish it before I get home.
Unless you want to wait in a long line, don't come after 5pm Fri-Sun which is when all of the tourists come by.
Either way, you should definitely stop by for something. The pastries are decent, but it is the bread that keeps me coming back.
Ron Fisher
The cannoli here are amazing and in my opinion not overly sweet. They have a solid selection and the staff are super friendly. Even with long lines they still get you in and out fairly quickly.
Caitlin C
In Boston visiting family and they brought us to this amazing bakery after dinner. It is a cute little shop on the corner with all types of different desserts. I got a cannoli with chocolate chips and the cappuccino cannoli and they were delicious! There was a line out the door but it only took about 10 minutes to get our orders. We are in town for one more day and will definitely go again if we have time.
Brittany Nelson
The service and the cannoli were fantastic. One of our favorite spots in our trip to Boston, one of only two we visited twice!
Kartik Bharadwaj
Quite possibly the best bakery in the North End. I’m definitely rating Bova’s over Mike’s and Modern. They’re also open all day so that’s another plus point. Their late night menu is worth the trip as you try to wind down your pub crawl and satiate your hunger pangs. Everything there tastes too good ( I also have a set of sweet teeth ). Must visit. A true Boston icon.
Susan Hofmann
Excellent Italian desserts off the beaten path! Great selection, authentic and delicious. Simple and worth the money. Casual atmosphere. Just as good or even better than Mike’s Pastry shop with NO line.
2021. Back in Boston and hit the North End. Dessert calling we went here again Italians desserts. Cannoli was very great and service was quick. Less crowded than other famous places nearby.
Ramit Bhalla
The cannolis and eclairs are above average, nothing to write home about. They have a good texture, but lacks balance between flavor and sweet. They are expensive and they charge an extra 4% for using a credit card (???)
Adam Young
Amazing desserts and pizza. The line moves pretty fast even when it's crowded
Angus Black
Pastries are great. Huge selection. Always busy but they keep the line moving at all hours, I didn’t think I’ve ever waited more than 10 minutes. Hot foods are better elsewhere and I’ve been seeing a steady uptick in prices for the pizza and calzones.
Melissa Umerski
Cannolis are great, but the coconut cake is heavenly! Great authentic Italian family business. Expect a line during regular daytime hours, but they are open 24/7.
tee dee
Came here because of the great reviews but wasn't impressed. It was just too sweet for my tatse.
Perks Advisor
Bova’s has that very authentic feel makes some very good lemon powdered sugar cookies. They also have a number of other treats including cannolis and jelly filled pastries. I ordered a strawberry sweet cream pastry and a coffee. It was fresh and filling. The staff were very friendly and made you feel like you were in a neighborhood bakery.
Shannon O'
Best Bakery, I was in there super early and felt enchanted being able to try my first canoli, and 2 other almond treats.
Oh my goodness, sooooo yummy! Thank you and I'll make sure to now always go there when I visit~
Bridgette Cannon
We found this shop around the corner when the place we intended to go had a line around the block. It was pretty good, the staff was polite and patient.
Maya Wolff
We bought an array of cookies and pastries. Unfortunately, all of the different ones tasted old. The cream in the pastry was fresh and yummy but the pastries and cookies were stale and not crunchy anymore. The chocolate didn’t taste like chocolate either. Overall a disappointing experience especially at the price point.
Jea Kim
Best Italian bakery on the East Coast. Tried their famous cannoli, lobster tail, and a chocolate eclair. Out of all the Italian bakeries I tried in Boston and NYC little Italy, this place had the most phenomenal pastries. I really liked the perfectly crispy and thin shells used for the cannoli, and the fillings also had immaculate consistency and creaminess. Definitely a must visit place in Boston.
ruth perez
A lot of variety, everything that I tried was delicious. The service is excellent and fast.
Samantha Souliere
Ah ma gad! Tried Bova after a disappointing visit to Mike’s pastry and wowza-the lobster tail was so amazing-crispy and the creamy custard was exquisite. Also, the gentleman serving me was smiling away (even his eyes)
and pleasant. Highly recommend!!!!!
Ruby Steele-Baxendale (SGM)
Middle of the night pastry filled with steak and buffalo chicken?? Yes please! And… Peanut butter cannoli?? I will take a dozen… And a Coke… :-) Hoping to have you for delivery in Texas soon, be back to see you in Boston shortly ;)
Jessica Sallee
Visited here bc a local said to come to it! Loveddddd the lobster tail - cream-filled croissant. But also had two kinds of cannolis and two kinds of cookies and didn’t like them at all. Loved the people though ! Worth a shot if looking for a local Italian pastry shop !
Natalie Yosipovitch
Lines at Bova's can be insane, and not everything is a hit. For example, I did NOT like their multigrain bread, and their Florentine cannoli fell apart as soon as we brought it home (a few friends say Mike's is better for cannolis). However, the chocolate dipped coconut macaroons here are TO DIE FOR. I'm not a big macaroon fan (I typically find them bland and dry) but the one here is soft like a cloud and tasty, but not cloyingly sweet, and is the best dessert I've had in the north end! I've also heard the pignolis and pistachio cookies are tasty here. Highly recommend stopping by when you're in the north end for the macaroons!
Shreya
A neighborhood favorite of ours. Being open 24 hours a day definitely helps its case- you can go whenever pretty much and get whatever. On a weekly basis we'll go for the croissants and they are unreal. In the summer the line can be long but it moves pretty quickly.
JoAnna Visconti
My favorite bakery in Boston. Honestly one of the best hidden gems in the city. Whenever I'm in Boston, I have to stop by and pick up chocolate Pizzelle. The cannoli are perfection!
Patrick Balyan
This was definitely a highlight of my trip. A place open 24/7 serving food to Bostonians and tourist all the time. The place looks great and authentic, the pastries all look yummy. Unfortunately, I could not have some as I am vegan. But, this does not affect my rating choices.
This place definatly got a high rating by many visitors and people seem to like the food a lot. However, my friends did not enjoy the late night food they had. The place is well respected, worth a visit and a trial on your own.
Amy Trapani
The best bakery in Boston! I came here 6 years ago, and I still rave about it! I finally made it back, and it is like time stood still! Fantastic cannolis, cookies, pastries - nothing compares!
Michele Cavalcante
So good! Everyone was so nice too despite being so very busy. I would definitely come back for more delicious treats. I highly recommend the sfogliatelle and pignolia cookies. I'll be dreaming about it.
Addie W
Multiple flavors of cannolis! Along with quick service what could get better? I went in for the cannolis and I am so very happy with the decision to walk to Bovas. They were some of the best cannolis I have ever had and I have tried many different places. Delicious will have to return when in Boston.
Bruce Felix
Excellent! Sal is great and helped my GF GF, (gluten free girl friend) find some perfect options.
Skip the place down the street with the line to get a lousy cannoli, Bova' has hundreds of authentic options. Feels exactly like bakeries I've visited in Italy.
Tidzhani Msheliza
The best cannoli I had while in Boston. They accept card payments but have 4% fee on top. Plenty of other treats as well.
Michael Wenrich
Wow, amazing food! We are used to amish whoopie pies, and while these aren't the same, they are soooo good in their own way! Definitely a hot spot in the Northend
Arq Ricardo Zepeda
The best bakery in the country. I don't have a good design, I accept it, not a good space and a good facade; but taste and variety have more. Spectacular and delicious place. Open 24 hours with very good location and very diverse flavors. It is the best we found in your country. Congratulations ¡¡
sienna diaz
The best Italian cookies 🤍 Staff is very attentive & the prices are great. …
Susan C
The cannoli were ok. They were cannoli…pre-filled, but pretty fresh. Five bucks each for plain (no chips, etc) seemed a bit over the top. Ours had a few air pockets with no cream. The packaging was plastic…wish it was not. Would have loved a paper wrap option or cardboard box instead.
Rawad Elias
Cannoli cannoli Cannoli... Did I mention the cannoli??
Great flavors, huge selection, friendly staff. It gets busy but the staff doesn't rush you.
Tried 5 different types of Cannoli ($4 ea):
- salted caramel (Choc dipped shell)
- Oreo
- Nutella
- regular
- peanut butter
I loooooved the salted caramel the most, the Oreo was my least favorite.
Try them out you won't be disappointed!
Christos Bletsios
24 hours, 365 days open. Everything was tasty, from pizzas to creme brulee. Fast service, cheap prices. Ask the owners for suggestions.
Ryan Nordgren
As we visited Boston we were excited to get a chance to sample some of the amazing pastries that Boston is famous for. Happily this was the first on our food tour of the city.
I was impressed immediately by the customer service we experienced. After entering and looking at the menu for only a brief moment, the employees who were talking to each other stopped and welcomed us and told us to ask if we had any questions and that they didn’t want us to think that they were ignoring us as they were talking. And they did answer all of our many questions as we navigated the menu.
The carrot cake was moist and delicious and the lobster tail was a hit with everyone. We stopped back a couple more times as well. Although we only spent a week in Boston, we can proudly declare, in our humble option, Bova’s Bakery is the place to beat!
Steve Wayne
This is the best Arancini I've ever had! I walked into this corner store bakery I had heard about, and then I saw it. Rows and rows of baked goodies, cookies cakes, sandwiches, calzones and of course... The Arancini. For those who don't know it is a delicious crispy breaded rice ball stuffed with cheese, meat, marinara and peas. Mine was perfect. They popped it in the oven to get it hot and I took it with me to enjoy on the Subway. Make sure you give it a minute to cool as they can be very hot.
CG
Amazing desserts. Chocolate cannoli outstanding! Love the customer service there. Plus it’s open 24hrs can’t beat that!
OmegaW0o0lf
I will always recommend Bovas over Mikes. Open 24/7 and always willing to squeeze a fresh canoli. All their food is great. My fav is their creme brulee
Mike Scuderi
Absolutely sublime canoli!!! Easy in, easy out... People are friendly, pastries are unreal. One of my favorite spots in Boston, and my favorite bakery anywhere.

24/7/365. This place also sells pizza, Rice Balls Paninis plus more food that they will heat up for you. A Constant flow of locals and Tourists in the know 👌 After you choose something warm to eat the Bakery will Blow you Away, Too many delicious Choices. The streets are Really narrow. Parking is ha d to find. I ordered a Chocolate Cannoli, Steak and cheese rice ball with dipping sauce with a steak and oiion Panini YUMMY 😍
Hilary Phillips
Small place with so many options! We went late at night and were surprised that Everything was still fresh and delicious! We took the round loaf of bread lobstah catching the next day and it was still very soft, not stale one bit! Some of our treats barely survived the trip home lol
The gentleman that assisted us was very kind, friendly, and helpful in choosing what he thought we would like best, he was spot on!
ps, the cider was super good!
Janice Temple
This Italian Bakery is amazing. I have never seen such gigantic pastries. It is very popular. The lines are long but move very quickly. Our family member Bill bought us lemon squares which tasted like real lemons. The crust or the lemon squares was so light and fluffy. I definitely recommend trying this Bakery with its wide range of pastries.
Kyla Gunnell
I come here and get the red velvet cake which is always good and moist. The cannoli’s are also great! And the strawberry angel cake!
Michel Hilani
One of the best bakeries in Boston!
Has all kinds of italian/Mediterranean sweets and savory croissants.
It's in North end in little Italy. So it's perfect if you're on a night out and want a quick late night bite. It's open all night so you don't have to worry about not having a place to eat.
Joseph Babitsky
Stopped by to grab some sweet treats and they were amazing. I had a raspberry twist and it was phenomenal. I bought some cookies to bring home and can't wait to try those a well! I highly recommend stopping by to grab some pastries if you're in the area!
Kristen M
such a cute place! it’s small but they have great variety of bakery/cooked items. they make fresh sandwiches on homemade bread (the steak and cheese is really good). their cookies are very tasty!
I am RLamont
So many yummy desserts and treats inside. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there was a Iine but it moved along quickly. We got some bread. We warmed it up in the oven
It was good! The staff was so kind, the lady behind the counter gave the kids one free cookie each! They were staring at the cookies like wow! The cookies were good but too sweet, just right! I see why this place is a staple in the community. Nothing fancy just good old baked God like grandma made them.
renoinabin
Bought cheesecakes today for family. The store was busy and well deserved. Beautiful food. I came from Ireland to visit my brother, will have to come back for Bovas
brewandbbq
Pretty much perfect Sicilian squares of pizza. Buttery dough, rich sauce, thick cheese. $3 slice but bigger than Umbertos.
Sabrina Toebben
There are so many delicious baked goods in here. We ended up trying a cannoli, whoopie pie, Boston cream cake and strawberry shortcake. All of them were amazing!
Alyson Cundiff
The baked goods were great, but the line was super long and moved really slow. Took us about 25 min to get our stuff.
Andrew D.
They were super friendly. I bought a few of the rice balls (meat ball and broccoli with cheese ) and heated them up the next day. They were really good.
Jeremy Lanza
Loved it, Love it. They accepts cards unlike some places. Great 24hr bakery with many many great items to choose from. Highly recommend this bakery, I go here anytime and every time I am in Boston. Macaroons are great
Sandhya Nair
Had my first cannoli. 10-15 min in queue. Wide variety of bakery options. Great location. Good vibe. Friendly people.
David B. Rowland
Best bakery in the north end, and we tried several. 5/5, would post half eaten cannoli again.
Chris Parker
Great fresh Italian baked goods. Best tiramisu and cookies! Whoopie pie has cream instead of icing inside as a heads up. Portions are HUGE!
Desiree Baker
The best bakery in the North End! Their peanut butter cannoli is the best dessert I’ve ever had 10/10 recommend!
Clyde Brown
I’m here to tell everyone that Anthony doesn’t bake these cookies. He’s gotta have a guy because these cookies are definitely , heaven sent.
Jason Bonneau
It doesn't matter your age or the time of day, walking into Bova's Bakery is like sheer joy. I've often times had to restrain myself from pressing my face right up against the glass display cases. Tourists in town will stand in line for ever to go to the Mikes or Modern Bakeries, but people in the know go a bit further down the street to find this little hidden gem. Most come for the cannolis but i'm partial to the lobster tails. There is a $10 minimum on credit card purchases but that's so easy to fill its almost laughable. The best part is, Bova's is open 24 hours. Once the bars get out people will flock for the calzones and slices of pizza so it get a bit hectic but that should by no means deter you.
Anthony Lombardozzi
Crowded but they move the line fast, I took my time ordering and the staff was polite and helpful. Don't want a canola, no problem a ton of options. The exclar was awesome.
Justin Tabatabai
Lovely desserts, variety, and staff.
Our family got multiple desserts while visiting Boston for the first time . Cannolis have distinct and yummy flavors (ie creme brûlée , cappuccino, pistachio, etc). Tiramisu was balanced and delicious as well.
Our favorite pick was the creme brûlée dessert … so smooth and fluffy.. we loved it!!
Ian Danquah
The fact that this is one of the few 24 hour spots in Boston is clutch. I originally went for some cheesecake, but also grabbed a cannoli since everyone was ordering some. The strawberry cheesecake was good. But that cannoli... *chef's kiss*. It's way better than the mid at Mike's Pastry. Definitely coming back to this place again.
Nisha Baker
Best canolis in the north end. Open 24 hours very convenient but the lines are too long
David Roszak
Small bakery with amazing cannolis with different flavors - cappuccino, creme brulee chocolate chip. Open 24 hours per day and our tourguide said that this is the place where locals get their pastries.
Taylor Packer
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the bakeries in the North End, but I am now partial to Bava's. Not as touristy or crowded as Mike's with the same selection of baked goods. They also accept card, which is really nice for Gen Z that doesn't carry cash. I love the peanut butter canooli and their cream puffs
Lisa Wilson
For years, we have been on the quest to find, "America's Best Cannoli". We've tried them in many cities, and tasted many different varieties. While in Boston we were headed to a bakery that is well known, and had been recommended to us by a couple of people. We passed Bova's, and realized that we must, in the interest of science, give it a try. What we discovered was the Florentine cannoli. Holy moly! It was life changing!!! The Florentine style shell was light, crisp, and just the right amount of sweet. The feeling was perfect as well, super creamy and again, just the right amount of sweet.
In the interest of fairness, we continued on to our original bakery destination. To make a straight-up comparison we ordered the Florentine from them as well. It was not nearly as good.
We may or may not have gone back to Bova's to get a couple more for the road.
One thing to note is that for purchases less than $20, you have to pay with cash. Totally worth the trouble.
Jose Rivera
If you don't want to spend an hour in line waiting to buy Mike's or Modern's cannolis, walk a few more steps to Bova's Bakery and get theirs. You won't be disappointed.
Erkan Gokturk
It wouldn't be right if we don't stop here while in this town. We tried a couple things from their products cannoli taste like from yesterday wasn't fresh at all but their Blueberry cheesecake was pretty delicious also I liked a lot Boston’s crème de la creampuff was not heavy and very satisfying. Only thing was annoying in this place that guy's attitude which is I didn't get it.
Steven Wilson
My girlfriend and I were on a weekend getaway in Boston. Local bakeries are some of our favorite spots to grab a snack when on this type of trip and Bova Bakery seemed like the perfect place - out of the way of the most touristy spots, tucked in a corner where we presumed mostly locals would be eating. They have a lot on offer here - all of the traditional Italian baked goods in addition to some yummy looking sandwiches for the lunch trade. We tried a half-moon cookie which was iced with a cake icing - it was good but a little stale - I would like to taste a fresh one from Bova - I'm willing to bet it would be excellent. We tried the chocolate bomb - also tasty, but a bit too rich for both of us. Lastly we had the nutella cannoli - it was the best of the three - we wished we had just ordered three cannolis in different flavors! Give Bova a try!
Smitha Mahesh
Desserts were okay, not quite worth the hype. Try to go in off-peak hours otherwise you are waiting outside for some time. My card was originally charged $120 but then I refused to sign until it got changed and I was refunded. I don’t blame the business, it was a hectic day inside, but if you when it’s super busy, make sure you are charged correctly.
A Murrell
Went to Pauli’s for an amazing lobster roll and staff recommended the Florentine cannoli that is only at Bova’s. It was divine. The locals like Mikes and Modern but go to Boba’s…
Paul Casparro
My favorite bakery in the North End. Get the squares (they are.huge), great variety of canolis, and their breads are awesome. Grab a calzone or slice while.you are their. They will heat it up for you if you want.
Todd Walter
Hands down my favorite Italian bakery in the US. After living in Naples Italy and returning to the US, I struggled to find an Italian bakery that could match the quality of what I had loved about bakery’s in Italy. I found some great ones in big cities over the years but a trip to Boston with the family introduced me to Bova’s and it did not disappoint. We ate there several times during our visit.
Kaitlyn Hurley
This place is awesome. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the pastries and baked goods were awesome. We got a couple cannolis, a cream puff, and a lobster tail. The lobster tail was recommended by the woman who helped us that day and was definitely my favorite. So glad we made this stop while we were visiting Boston
Sebastian Sinisterra (CitySeby)
One of the best bakeries in Boston. The cheesecake there is the best I've ever had. If you're ever in the area, definitely give this place a visit!
Ming Vasquez
Great authentic treats and great staff. Serving the area for 100 years so you know they are great!
Ted Ayles
Really big Italian sausage calzone with cheese and peppers was excellent, enough for lunch for two. All other calzone looked really good too. $10 each as of Aug 2/22. Also tried their Boston Cream pie, it was OK, quite sweet but maybe that is the way the are. All pastries looked really appealing. Excellent service from the fellow at the counter.
Dr.Ahmed Farhoud
A small bakery in a side street where you find a bug queu of people waiting to go in to pick their bakery ,we took creme brolè ,eclaire and strawberry cup cake the taste is good not super and prices value ratio is moderate.
Bill Bowman
Legendary deliciousness open 24 hours. One of my favorite bakeries in the North End.
Bovas is a family-owned and operated bakery in the North End of Boston and has been a tradition since 1926.
I love their fresh Italian bread, cookies, tiramisu (world famous), and they also over sicilian pizza.
Rob Smith
Words cannot do this place justice!!! we were wrapping up a fast paced multi-state tour of new england. Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Maine. Fresh Maine Lobstah and same day clams were highlights...UNTIL WE STOPPED AT BOVA'S. We were wrapping up a great tour of boston on one of those open air bus tours you can find in many cities and the Driver asked if anyone had any questions. no-one responded and everyone talked amongst them selves and the low hum grew to a din, then everyone got a little loud and I shouted from the back of the bus..."where's the best CANNOLI in Boston?". You could have heard a mouse trip over the pin you just heard drop. the driver took a deep breath and said.."there are a few typical answers...but the truth..and anyone that tells you different is wrong....is BOVA's!" We got of the bus, got in the car and drove down the narrowest streets that made alleys look huge and illegally parked across the intersection. It was dark as the sun had fallen behind the buildings. The light from the door propped open was a beacon. It drew me in like a port in a diabetic storm. (I'm not diabetic, but If I lived near BOVA'S I WOULD BE.) I walked in and the cases full of cannolis and desserts and fresh breads and italian meats reminded me of when I lived on THE HILL in St. Louis. The women talking to each other from behind the cases were helpful and patient, like a mother who offered you a tray full of treats and told you you could have one.....except there was no limit. 7 selections and 35 dollars later you could not wipe the grin off my face. The oreo cannoli was my favorite with the nutella not far behind. the experience was great and the food was OH WOW. Bova's is the deciding factor that will send me back to Boston. Bova's will be my first stop...and probably my last as well.
Bob Tuttle
Love this place. Was packed the night we were in. Right after the Bruin's game. Loved the tiramisu and cinnamon coffee cake!!!!
Tarney Sumpter
Amazing selection! Everything was delicious!
Brad Rogers
A must stop every time we’re in Boston. As usual, each pastry we bought was incredible. We’ll be back!
Sydra Smith
We ordered a mass amount of their delicious cannolis for our dessert for our wedding and Bova's really delivered! For many of our guests (from the Midwest) this was their first cannoli experience and they were RAVING about them! We were able to order 150 cannolis for our reception and they came out perfectly. The staff were very friendly and easy to work with, as well. This is our favorite bakery in Boston!
Undercover Astrology
I purchased a small cinnamon roll and a chocolate chip cannoli for $6.50. A huge variety of baked goods sold there! The staff were very attentive and courteous. No sitting area or restrooms.
Mario Kato
Your 24 Hour a day fix for some amazing pastries!
A must stop while in Boston's North End.
Shelby Rice
Found the best mystery pastry ever. Bright green, pistachio, chewy. Had no label. I didn't ask before I left the store. It still keeps me up at night, but I'll be back to Boston to discover its secrets.
Barbara Gonzalez
OMG! Best cannoli ever-the Florentine if they have any when you go, highly recommend! Everything was soo good and the staff was really friendly and helpful!
Heather Sanders
Super neat bakery tucked in the corner of the back streets in Boston. Came across it on our stroll and was delighted by the selections. Staff was friendly, huge selection of goodies, what a totally cool place!
William (JR) Lacey IV
Great looking bakery items. Just as good of selection as Mike's and a fraction of line. Plus they take cards and have pizza.
Williana Basuki
Best cannoli in North End, the other competitors are not even close to Bova's, awesome Lobster tail and delicious arancini!
spo1800
If Mike's is the tourist place of the North End, Bova's is the local favorite. Always open is great. Been here at all times of the day.
katia arab
Nice Italian bakery, love their fruit tarte and creme Brule. It is open 24 hours and there os always a line
V Herrera
Great variety of pastry goods! Gets a little busy, but worth it. Prices are good too!
Tata Ortiz
Cannolis 24 hours!!!!
I love cannolis. And everyone who like it knows that is more options that the already famous Mike's and The modern pastry. And that are classics from North End. But in the whole neighborhood exist places that still Italian and delicious. And that it's the case of these bakery. You might not find people waiting in a line and that is not bad. This is a hidden jewel in the little Italy.
Eleni Routoula
Of the best Italian pastry shops in the area. Service is friendly. Huge variety of sweet/savoury treats, great for "on the go" munchies, cheaper than "fancier" places around.
Kena Patel
Lobster tails are a must try! The cream filling is just the right consistency and compliments the flakey shell for a perfect combination. Safe to say I'll be back for more 😊 …
Ashley Armbruster
Everything we purchased was delicious. It was very busy, but not a super long line, and there was at least 6+ staff behind the counters keeping things moving. Of the staff, all were flat out mean, even audibly making fun of customers, except one younger guy. This was around 9pm on a Wednesday. Maybe the staff working during the day are friendlier?
Agnes
I was surprised by the reviews saying the service wasn’t good because it was great! Everyone there was super nice. The line went by pretty quick as well. I tried the Boston cream cake and the classic cannoli and both were delicious. They have a huge selection. Will be back!
Kimberly Salla
my favorite pastry’s in boston! the wait time is well worth it. the cappuccino cannolis are to die for! their tiramisu so soft and delicious. everything there is so amazing, you won’t go wrong trying something new! everyone there is so friendly and quick, you get in order what you want and next thing you know, you’re already out with 2 maybe 3 bags filled with pastries, calzones and cookies.
Tom McManus
Consistently, excellent bakery. It's amazing that a place as good as this is open 24/7.
Amina Bouaazzad
The napoleon is absolutely delicious! Crunchy and fresh. The fruit tart was very good too🤤 …
Jean Bradley
This place is a hidden gem. They honestly have the freshest bread and pastries.
I’m a big fan of the traditional cannoli it was amazing!! They also carry salted Carmel, chocolate chip, Nutella and several more. The bread is the freshest around. I would have taken pictures but I ate it to fast. Also opened 24 hours so if you are having any late night cravings!
Timothy Colstrup
Their calzone and rice balls are very delicious. They have the best cannolis around.
Heba
We got some plain cannolis at a Bova’s‘s bakery and in my opinion they are more delicious than the ones we got at Mike’s bakery. Also $4 each versus $5 at Mike’s
Matthew Ainge
Really glad I stumbled across this bakery. I picked up a slice of cream cake and a couple canoli. Reasonably priced, and I just wish I was able to go back. I could have spent a fortune there making my way through what they have on offer. Although my waistline would say otherwise.
Don't expect some fancy upmarket bakery going here. What you get is good, honest food, that I can confirm, tastes fantastic.
Made me a very happy man that day.
Frederick Bernard Stewart
Mike ROCKS!! Always smiling and as warm as the fresh from the oven bread!
Have been a Bova customer since the early 1980s. Being open 24 hours a day 365 days a year offering some of the best authentic North End pastries still being made in the original kitchen.
Alan Thompson
Phenomenal place for sweets and amazing Italian bread. Plus you can get late night pizza and snacks. It can be hectic in there because it's so busy and popular, but worth the fuss. Better than Mikes in my opinion.
Sue Ann Jaffarian
I recently did a taste test of lobster tails between Bova and Mike’s. I expected the competition to be close but there was no competition. Bova’s lobster tail was light and flaky and the filling was sweet and creamy, as it should be. Mike’s on the other hand was nearly inedible and so very disappointing because I had heard their stuff was amazing. Anyway, this was just a taste test between lobster tails and nothing else. Bova’s was so good I even forgot to take a photo of it! Just gobbled it down.
Georgia Thomas
DELICIOUS. The arancini at midnight really hit the spot. The lemon cookies & cinnamon sugar bread are also delicious for someone like me who is not the biggest cannoli fan. They take card, with a 10$ minimum - making it the one out of the three "famous" Hanover street (or Hanover adjacent) bakeries that do, and I have been back many many times.
Tom Berrigan
Best bakery in the North End!
Jc23xo wonderland
Pretty good for a late night snack open 24 hours. Been a total of 4/5, 2 of those times the rice Inside the rice balls wasn't well cooked. Pastry are great 👍🏼 👌🏼 can't go wrong …
Nona Dan
Friendly and even if there is a long line they are quick. Tasty baked goods, I think it’s better than mikes!
Laura Moats
Long line mid-day, but it gave me time to decide among all the tasty treats! We tried cannolis and Lobsta Claws from Bovas, then got a Lobsta Claw at Quincy Market today. Bova's is much better, hands down!!! Really delicious! The florentine cookie was crispy, sweet but not too sweet, light, airy and delicious!
Tony
Bovas Is 1 of 3 great Italian Bakery and pastry shop but the only difference is bovas is open 24/7 Which comes in handy
Donna M Keefe
Been around for years, and one of the best. Open 24 hours, took a walk to Bova's on a hot summer night at 2:00 am to get my Italian cookie fix. Always busy. Should be your first stop for pastries!
Cyprian Bergonia
We got the Creme Brule, creme Brule cannoli, plain cannoli and Florentine cannoli.
Creme Brule was not good. The custard was too watery and didn't set properly and the flavors were off.
The cannoli were good. I liked the Florentine the best.
Jamie Blake
The bakery you should go to instead of *that other famous bakery in the north end*. Bova’s has an incredible selection of pastries, cookies, and cakes (yes, including cannolis!), lots of Italian favorites my grandmother and I used to make for holidays and special days. Also a great place to pick up some treats to share- ready-packed cookies or choose your own selection! And if you like cream puffs, don’t miss the (enormous) lobster tails! This picture doesn’t do the store justice: it’s just one case out of 5 or 6!
Jamie Haruska
Asked the woman behind the counter which cannoli was her favorite and she said the Florentine. It was AMAZING! Go here! If there is a line, it moves fast and is worth it!!
Jonathan Diehl
Best cannoli I have ever tasted! Learned about this spot from food tour (see review of food tour). Also has a great Boston Cream.
Ethan Friedrich
The quality of this bakery is nuts! This is an awesome shop to stop into it you're in the city. The prices were very affordable too!
Keith Cromer
Very good pizza. Have yet to taste the rest we bought.
Rusty Mundorf
Great late night bakery. A few friends and I were in town for a convention. We partook in a few libations and wandered the Freedom Trail in search of Cannolis. Bova's was the terminus of our quest and did not disappoint.
Robert A
Awesome little bakery. The calzone and cannoli were delicious!
Ale
The original cannolis with chocolate chips are great, so crispy. The Florentine was sold out but I will try it next time
Timma
The real deal 24 hrs. a day: Get off crowded Hanover St. in the North End and find your way to Bova's for great foods in an authentic family - owned deli with amazing bakery, pastry, sandwiches, and dessert options. For food, you will find fresh Calzones, a variety of Parmesans, sandwiches, meatballs, and more. This is where the locals go!
S N
Best canoli in the city! The bread is also very nice and fresh.
Ashley Schmidt
Couldn’t believe we stumbled upon this fantastic bakery!! We were warmly welcomed and overwhelmed by all the amazing treats-CASES of them-something for everyone! They were filling cannolis live. I had an amazing Nutella cannoli and Boston Creme pie! Deliciousness! Highly recommend a stop.
Heather Littles
I love it here the fact that they r open 24hrs 365 days a week is a plus. If I could put 6 stars I would. Strawberry 🍓 shortcake cups and the creme Brule r delicious …
Chris Hausman
If I could give 6 stars I would. We went to the main touristy bakeries first and none of them compared to Bova's! I could have died after eating the Heath bar brownie thing and I would have died 100% content knowing I had achieved everything I wanted out of life. (The cannoli was the best we had in Boston too.)
Micah Schoenherr
I love everything about this place. Visiting from out of town, and saw a line out the door. Do yourself a favor and try a Florentine Cannoli.
leesa connolly
Excellent! Date bars…cannolis. Yummy. Cute, homey, Smells like a dream, nice employees .
Jason Tambolleo
This place is excellent been going there for years since I was a kid open 365 days 24 hours a day amazing authentic Italian bakery pastries and deli a must!!?
You got to love their best cannolis and all the other delicious pastries them breads that they have fresh baked to perfection
S C
One of my favorite spots to go in the North End!
I just love this bakery! I enjoy their fresh loves of bread and many of their delicious pastries!
Sarah Burgess
Very friendly & so many options!
Jennifer Post
Went here because we saw it on Insider as the best cannoli in Boston. Let me tell you, it lives up to the hype. The Florentine was sweet, crispy and had a bit of a burnt flavor which actually really helped to offset the sweetness. It also my be the best cannoli I've ever had in general. They don't fill them fresh anymore like they did on the feature we saw, but I didn't notice any downside to that. Either ours was made recently or it doesn't really matter.
T M
Gotta love a 24 hour bakery especially in a city that closes up early. The cannolis are very, very good.
Melody Marie
Late-night options are worth the drive & wait! I love this place, and 24 hours strong, no less!
S C
Quick walk from North Station or Haymarket and offers filling savory options, bread, and a variety of pastries including cookies, bars, flavored cannolis, cream puffs, cakes, and more. Their cheesecake is more like ricotta pie; light and fluffy as opposed to dense and decadent. The rice balls are beautiful (I will definitely return to try one!), though I opted for the eggplant calzone, which was delicious. My friend said the chicken parm calzone was a little bland, but highly recommends the peanut butter bombs.
Lexi Winder
Uhm. HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS PLACE? Open 24 hours so my expectations were initially low... Boy was I wrong! I found this place last Monday and went back Friday. I'll be back again. Tiramisu is so well balanced and the pistachio flavor really comes through in the cannoli. Yum. Don't sleep on this place. The other desserts I didn't get to photograph because they were scarfed down
Mark Jacoby
The Florentine Cannoli is a must if you’re in the area. Picture a soft waffle cone wrapped around a sweet ricotta filling. Perfection. Super crowded but we got in and out within 5 minutes on a weekend afternoon.
Alice Elwell
They are open 24 hours a day, the Florentine Cannoli is out of this world. Can I give this place 10 stars please?
Ana Lezama
Open 24 hours!
Good for a try after a party or disco night. The desserts I tried were really good taste. All diferent kind of calzone that we bought (all the kind they had) were really good and I think any body we will like them. It is a iconic place in the little Italy Boston's downtown. We visited the place at 1 am and there were several people buying at that time, including a couple of cops buying canolis (the best sellers of the place)
Christopher Toney
They have great bread and the biscotti are out of this world. I always buy a couple of dozen biscotti when I am in town!!
4smashed20
Everything they make is out of this world good. I use to drive a hour and change to go there. There also open 24hours witch is good for the bars getting out.
Lindsay Malsam
I loved this place and differently would go back again. We tried two out of the three recommended pastry places. I loved the eclair from here. My husband got a calzone, and he enjoyed it.
Stevie Hornsby
Very busy place! One of the best pastry in Boston. Lots to choose from.
Tao Tao
Everything I got was delicious! Love this bakery!
skylar moller
Absolutely one of the best places for any pastries I've ever had!
Melissa Witt
My favorite bakery. I think it's better than Mike's pastry. Plus the line is way shorter too! I think because it's one more block of walking than Mike's. Make sure you get the fresh bread. You will probably eat it all before you get home, so buy two. The pizzales are amazing! You won't be disappointed.
Gretchen Ament
Best little bakery in Boston. I come here for a cannoli every time I visit the city.
Jessica Carbine
Forget Mike's! This place is so much better! And they take more than cash! I stop in every time I'm in Boston.
Matilde C Calderon
This place has the best cannoli in North End. I tried cannoli from Mike's and Modern on the same day and I think Bova's ones are the best. Bova's also have other pastries such as cheesecakes, coffee cake, and cookies that are also worth to try. I personally love their Florentine Cannoli the most! It costs almost $8 for one but the portion is huge and the taste is unforgettably delicious! I highly recommend this place!
Patrick Ramsey
Cheap on price, but great on flavor! One of the better lobster tail pastries I've had. Rice Balls are good too.
dajoeman08
Got two lobster tails today as well as two creme brule cannoli's both were excelent.. and the bag of vanilla pizzele were awsome as well
Travis
Now this place has class ( showing stylish excellence)! I ordered something out of state and had it shipped. The incredible person it went too, described the desert as yummy, but this review is for the service. After shipping they made it a point to check in on the order, make sure it was delivered timely, and even how it was enjoyed. This bakery deserves the five stars for their exceptional customer service alone.
Tim Fish
Fantastic cannolis! The creme brulee one is amazing 🤤 …
Bill Kessler
Cannoli’s and pastries are awesome. The cannoli’s aren’t as large as Mike’s but they are very delicious. Also, if you don’t feel like dealing with the long lines and the rudeness of Mike’s, this is your place.
Hemanth Grandhige
Great selection, we loved the creme brulee canoli and the florentine
Michael Rodrigues
Amazing lobster tails!!!!! So light and and crispy!!!! Filling was amazing!!! Great pistachio cannoli and Blueberry cheescake!!! Now the meatball calzone I didn't care for. Was disappointed. Sounds crazy but taste reminded me of a 7-11 meatball sub. Sorry 😞 Would definitely go back and spend lots of money though lol …
NPC
You won’t find better than this. Skip the line at mikes and modern, you don’t need the ig picture, trust me no one cares.
Sam K
It is so good that you want to come back again and order more. Long lines but move very fast and I recommended the Oreo.
George Brown VI
Very friendly bakery with great bread! Nice cobblestone and scenic views are nearby, some would say a stones throw away from the harbor.
Erin Leal
Very very good pastries. 5 star food but 1 star service so I put 4 stars down. The woman behind the counter had an attitude and seemed annoyed the place was busy. She touched the food with bare hands after touching dirty cash! Unsanitary... The pastries were good, but the staff needs to wear gloves or use paper to touch the food... I noticed some other reviews said the same thing so hopefully this issue will be addressed. I recommend that you don't come here when it's super busy.
Alfredo Esparza
From Albuquerque, NM we do not have anything close to this! What a delicious place and super friendly people working here.
Nicole J Veilleux-Daniels
Best pastry around! Thier young staff could be friendly, maybe even smile! They acted like they were being forced to work 🙄 …
lacholitarubia
Amazing bakery! So yummy! It's take away only.
Joseph Kacoyannakis
Found all 3 varieties of St. Joseph's feast day zeppole! This place is the real deal!
Fariha O
I got the baklava, it was delicious.
Justin Smith
Amazing pastries and other baked goods. Enjoyed what I got here on the whole far more than Mike's, though I personally prefer Mike's cannoli's.
Only thing I dislike is that the staff can feel a touch rude, but I guess they need to keep the lines moving.
Natasha Dearness
Hands down my favorite bakery and has been since childhood. I have been talking this place up for weeks and it did not disappoint. I grew up in New England and now live in Nebraska. I took my boyfriend home for the first time last week and told him that no matter, what we were going to Bovas for cannolis and whoopie pies. I wish I had taken better pictures but that's all I got before we scarfed it down was this quick snapchat. Their chocolate chip cannolis are still THE BEST. Now, my Nebraskan boyfriend is hooked and understands what I mean when I say we dont have any good bakeries around here.
P.S. He had never had either a cannoli or even heard of a whoopie pie before (not big in Nebraska much to my dismay).
Sam Larson
Not great. Macaroons only good thing
Srijoni Biswas
Bought creme brulee and salted caramel cannoli and Boston Cream. Delicious in taste. Loved the cannoli. Will definitely recommend! This place will mostly have a queue in order to enter but the amazing desserts and food is definitely worth it.
Thejesh Kashirala
A must visit Italian bakery if you crave for a midnight dessert in Boston
Kay-Kay M.
Delicious pastries and very friendly staff.
Tricia Tripp
Amazing variety of choices! I’ve never seen such a variety-and in the afternoon! While he we were there, they brought out 5 different fresh batches of desserts! We bought 8 different desserts to share with our kids-every one was a hit! Different flavors, textures, delightful to eat! Too bad there is no where like this anywhere close to where I live. On second thought, it’s probably good thing🤪
Zachary Dunaisky
The only place open late with awesome food and treats in the north end. The rice balls and croissants are the best drunk food in boston.
Sam D.
If I could I would get dessert here every single night! So so good and worth every penny! Open 24 hrs is even better - tho not for my wallet! 😂 …
Alexis Brady
Absolutely fantastic. Had the pistachio macaroons (do NOT sleep on these!! SO moist inside) and the crème brûlée. Best bakery in Boston. 10/10
Danielle Bullen
This bakery was awesome. They were fast, friendly and kind, the food was AMAZING and it is such a fun place, cute and old fashioned looking in the best way. Loved going here, and I 100% want to go back if I ever make it back to Boston. It was so good.
Sahnaz Saleem
The Florentine cannoli here is unmatched. Never had such a scrumptious cannoli on my life!!
Timothy Meeker
Bova's should always be counted among the titans of North end pastry shops, particularly for its versatility. Not only does it serve cannolis and pastries, but it does calzones, arancini, bread, you name it! And most importantly: *they take card.* North End ATMs 0, my wallet 1.
Mark Guerriero
Love the bakery have some great pastries and great bread open 24 hours a day there's two other pastry shops in the North end as well
William Cooper
Amazing cannoli and Boston cream cake. Great shop, that fits the Italian narrative of North End. If you pay with card, you’ll just have to spend at least $10. Not too challenging, given all their options! There were 10+ other items I would have hoped to try. Maybe on a next trip.
Andrew Glover
Took a walk through the area on the last morning of visiting Boston. Was wanting something sweet and decided to just look around. Ended up with a chocolate Whoopi pie and a lobster tail. They were so good I ate them without even thinking to grab a picture!
Awesome little bakery. You can tel it’s this families livelihood. Friendly people, delicious food! Would highly recommend!

This is where Batman buys treats.
This place is so good I come to Google to read reviews.
This placed is so good and packed that you really just shouldn't complain.
This place is so good you'll drive from foxborough at 11PM just to look at the options even when your broke.
This PlAcE is so good you'll feel so good.
This place is so good that is really just that good.
I'll do a whole science project as to why this place is so good.
Okay let me get out of here heading to this place ...
gabriella
Decided to try it after a recommendation from a few friends and I've got to say it didn't disappoint. They have a large selection of Italian pastries, but of course I had come for the cannoli's. I ended up ordering the "Florentine" and it was delicious. It was fairly bigger than the others I saw in their counter and I appreciated the fact that it wasn't as sweet as other similar cannolis I've tried in the area. Despite the line, it moved pretty quickly both times we visited.
Mark S
This is the best bakery in Boston. The cannolis are amazing. It’s a secret gem of the north end
David Joseph
Always open(24/7) and always amazing! This pastry shop is nicely hidden in the heart of the North End and it doesn't ever disappoint!
Late nights on the weekends can be tough for parking and can be crowded. But boy it hits the spot after a night out. Perfect end to the night!
But, early morning is my go to time. No lines and freshly made pastries, cakes, cookies and cannoli will wake you right up! 😁
I've been going here for years(~20) and I would recommend Bova's over any other pastry shop within 20 miles.
Check it out! You'll leave overly satisfied!
Jano Abc
This is THE place to go in the North End. The selection is breath taking and the price is right. The staff are friendly and helpful. My daughter had the red velvet cake and it tasted like angels in Heaven made it - so light and the flavors were well balanced. Cannolis were so fresh and YUM. If you are traveling get a little extra because even if you're still full from dinner you'll eat your dessert and wish you had more.
Rosemary Danielsen
THE best coconut cake I have ever had! We lucked out to come in on a rainy night where we were the only ones in the bakery. So we had time to drool over all the choices. So many amazing options - but we tried their Boston Cream Pie, Coconut Cake & Italian 7 Layer Cookies. All divine!
Ian Downie
Truly divine local bakery that is open twenty four hours a day. Nearly impossible to park nearby, but the work is WAY worth it. Not only does bova's have incredible lobster tails, sfogliatelle, cannolis, and cheesecake, (as well as a million other tasty treats), they also have arancini, calzone, baguette, and pizza for lunch or a late night snack. I most highly recommend the sfogliatelle and the arancini. Bring your wallet!!
Dan Cunliffe
Nice assortment of desserts. Crazy. They are open 24 hours
Allanah
Dry cookies sold by the pound. Nothing outstanding, although the staff was nice.
Jade Mann
Everything we got was absolutely amazing! We were so pleased with our delicious pastries we got here! Cannolis are out of this world, their lobster tail is wonderful, and my husband said the eclairs were the best he’s had in his whole life! Definitely recommend!
Ethan Quinn
The canolis are amazing. Line was kinda long but super fast. Staff was awesome even with the long line. It seemed kinda hidden in the alleyways of the north end, but it is a great place.
Rachel Pilger
Friendly, understanding, expedient, and down-to-earth staff who go above and beyond! Delicious and beautiful-looking chocolate covered strawberries. Thank you!!
Cristine Berglund
Amazing place with loads of great things to eat! They don’t expect cards under 5 dollars though so bring cash!
Alyssa Canfield
This place is amazing!! My girlfriend and I joke about the creepy baker doll in the window that he may look creepy but he sure makes amazing desserts. Tons of items to choose from (too many in my opinion, not a bad thing though) so it does take a bit to decide. Shout out to my Uber driver that one day who recommended this place!!! This is definitely now our go to place for desserts especially since we are just down the street.
Jennifer Agnew
Best cannoli I've ever had in my life and I have an Italian grandmother may she RIP. Old school vibe, very reasonably priced, Milano cookies were amazing too. Whenever I am near North End I am going to this place without a doubt!
Kate Sutton
This place is absolutely amazing! We were looking for a place to eat after doing the freedom trail, and this place had a line out the door so we decided to try it o it. While waiting line I asked someone ahead of us quart they liked to order since we’d never been there and he gave some great recommendations.
One of the family members of the owner noticed we’d never been here before and they basically took us under their wing and helped us out! We had a pretty big order since we wanted to try basically everything. They were SO helpful and patient!
The sandwich we ordered was made fresh, the calzones were heated up perfectly (and were made of such great bread!) and the desserts were honestly to die for. Now every time we go to Boston we will have to come here! Honestly, you can’t beat it!
DeAnna K
Hands down best donut ever
Madison Florence
The BEST pastries. Skip the line everywhere else and come to this family owned 24/7 shop. I always fill up on dessert so I've never tried it but they also have sandwiches and dinners. My favorites are the fruit tart, the Italian cookies, and the lobster tails.
Uziel
Their croissants are legendary, with 3 different flavors. Steak and cheese, chicken parm, and the Buffalo chicken.
Jayakumar Patil
I wanted to get pastries from Mike's pastry, I saw a long line which is worth waiting for. I was disappointed as they closed right in front of me. I was craving for pastries that night. I went to Bova pastries right behind on Salem Street which is open 24/7. I was not disappointed as Mike's pastry closed that night I found a new place which I like it more than I liked Mike's pastry. Everything I got at Bova was better than I was used to. I love this place and I don't worry about the place being closed even I get to north end late.. Thank you for satisfying my cravings. I don't think any one would be disappointed after their visit.
Ernest Shediac
Incredible, the food and staff were amazing. Glad we got to experience boston history.
Jerome Neidigh
Hands down the best pastry place in the north end. Yeah, you have Mike's and what not but they're over hyped. This is the spot to go to. It's all locals, so expect to be in and out. They don't mess around. You don't know what you want by the time you get to the counter, they move onto the next person. Love this place
Crystal Kirkirt
Delicious deserts and treats in the front and quick hot eats in the back. Parking is a struggle, expect to hunt around for a close spot or walk a bit. Always fairly crowded no matter what time of day you go, but service is prompt and worth it.
Vincent sg
The place look very from the outside. Tried the florentine and creme bulee canoli. The florentine one is the best, the shell is crispy and dense with a slight sweet taste
Hannah Wright
This place is amazing! I heard about this place from an old friend and figured I would give it a try because I’m a sucker for sweets. My boyfriend got a fruit tart and I got a strawberry cheesecake. The desserts just melted in my mouth. The place had a homey, Ma and Pa kind of feel to it. Highly recommend!
matthew mangus
Bovas is a favorite stop on visits to Boston. It hasn't changed (other than becoming popular) in the 20 years we've been visiting.
Rich Gleason
Great food. Chicken Parm sandwich, whoopie pies, apple turnover,...Would have gotten more but had to get to our plane. Authentic food and people. Older lady was super!
Roberto Miki
The Florentine cannoli is fantastic! There is a large selection of desserts and baked goods. A good stop for water if you need it!
Natt K.
Cream puff was good and huge. Cannoli was okay; taste more like a sugar frosting than ricotta.
Aysha Khan
Great service, consistent quality, reasonable prices and (most importantly) delicious pastries and cakes. Most of their cannolis are fantastic but I especially recommend their Florentine, creme brûlée and salted caramel cannoli as well as their fresh strawberry cheesecake and German chocolate cake. I go there frequently and love that it’s open 24/7.
Edwin Hammond
What a delightful treat this was!! I had the Mini Lobster Tail. The croissant was perfect and the cream inside was insanely delicious! Truly authentic bakery. Will definitely come back when I return to Boston!!
Jenn Adams
Not sure how this got to be one of the very few places in Boston that is open 24 hours, but I am grateful for it. Huge variety of cookies, pastries, and other sweets. I believe they have savory offerings, but I’ve yet to try them.
Shail Panchal
Only desert place that is open 24/7 around Boston.
Tabassum Ambia
Finally a place open for 24hours! They are very popular, and I guess they are good. Just that, too sweet for my taste (I only tried chocolate fudge cake and rocky brownie). I'd guess everyone else will love them.
Christopher Olsen
Best cookies and cannoli’s in the north end!
Kim Ramirez
Wow! Just wow. Everything looked delicious and the cannolis were exquisite 🤤🤤 …
Robert DeSisto
This is the best-kept secret in the North End. Mike's is fantastic, but if you want to avoid the line and still get rockstar desserts, for the same price and arguably more variety, Bova's is the place to go. 24-hr differentiator for late night snacks, which isn't common in Boston, and the lines are never crazy big. I would recommend the peanut butter bomb, as it's the best dessert they have on their menu and is something that you cannot get at the other pastry shops in Boston.
Aayush Prasad
Excellent crème brûlée. It is a must try. It’s the perfect end to a weekend.
Dennis Wong
Everything we had was sublime! Lobster tail, cream puff, chocolate chip cannoli, cream pie, and devil dog. Maybe the other two places are better but not 5-10x longer line better and they definitely don't feel as old school and authentic.
Brianne Black
Everything about this spot is the absolute best! I love the family run atmosphere, everyone is always so friendly and nice. Everything they make is delicious and fresh.
Janelly R
Not fresh like it use to be, just off of the North End main strip. Parking is as you would expect it in a city, so can't complain there. The place doesn't look clean and food looks like it's been sitting out for weeks. Just doesn't give a fresh bakery feel, like most bakeries around the area do.
Katharyn Gadient-Elkheshen
Stumbled on this place with my husband. We took my mom the next day and the rest of the family the day after that. The verdict? 100% the best canolli in Boston. We also loved the fruit tart, eclair, and coffee cake.
Tashu Rayali
The best part is it is open 24×7. We reached there at around 1AM, and there were people around and in the bakery. There are many options, the one that I took chocolate mousse was pretty decent not something out of the world. But as the bakery is open at night and you can go there with your friends and take the orders in person makes the entire experience memorable.
I have give 1 extra star is just for it being open day and night.
Emma Sutton
Bova’s Bakery was truly a highlight of our trip to Boston! Their customer service was incredible and the food was outstanding! I got the deli meat calzone ,Florentine and creme brûlée cannolis, and German chocolate cake and they were HEAVENLY! There was so many to choose from, I wish I would have gotten more. Seriously, do not miss this incredible Bakery!
Asha Shibu
First time in North end and thought of trying Bova’s as the other bakeries around the area were packed. Had a bit of queue outside but the staff was really efficient in handling and giving out the orders. Do try the florentine cannoli and tiramisu. Took a box of cookies back home (out of state) and they were greatly appreciated.
jake Marble
Efficient and friendly customer service, lots of options, and was still packed at midnight on a Sunday night. I did not try the cannolis, but we had a coconut macaroon, lemon almond cookie, eclair and Boston cream pie. It was pretty cheap (about $10 in total) but the pastries were fairly average in taste. However, there were many other items that looked really good, so I would be willing to go back and give it another shot. Hopefully we just didn’t choose the right pastries and the rest are amazing?
Joshua Grant
Loved this place for years. They make the very best fresh bread in the North End and maybe anywhere! I love their triple chocolate cake so much I'm considering going into rehab. The canolis are fantastic and, in my opinion, better than the famous name ones a street over. They are still open 24/7, so go right now!
John Benton
Just an amazing spot slightly off the more trafficked Hanover street. This little intersection is super cute, the store itself is amazing, the service is awesome and of course the treats are incredible.
Theresa Wagar
This was the 3rd bakery I tried looking for Italian cookies. They did not disappoint. Delicious assortment at great prices.
Mike Ikasalo
I almost don't want to leave this review because it might ruin the fact that this is truly a hidden gem in a very popular tourist location. It's open 24/7 and trust me, there is nothing better than a Steak and Cheese rice ball at 2am after last call! The pastries are as good if not better than Mike's or Modern and there is almost never a line more than 3 or 4 people deep.
Jane Polinski
YUM! Everything we tried was delicious and the owner was a kind and helpful guy!
Zuleirys Santana Rodriguez
While visiting Boston I ordered delivery from Bova’s Bakery 3 times because it was AMAZING! My boyfriend and I really liked the desserts, a really good variety, super fresh and great flavors! The best part is that they’re 24 hours and the size of the pastries are pretty big. I would completely recommend it!
Susan Berrigan
Even if you just had a big meal, just walk in here and you'll be hungry again. Yum, yum, yum!!
Melissa smith
Dozens of amazing deserts! Place smells like fat kid heaven.
J Mullen
Mike's is Nice but Bova's feels like family. A nice variety for all of your cravings.
Becky House
No bakery will ever compare. I grew up in Poulsbo WA and worked at the Sluys famous bakery. Bova"s is absolutely incredible. The array of offerings is spectacular. Pastries, cakes, cookies, calmness, rice balls stuffed with cheese and meat, CANNOLIS...Just awesomeness in one tiny store. I am saddened and thankful that I don't live next to this masterpiece. There were too many people to take pics and I hate the goodies I bought before taking a photo. Sorry. Go there. You will not be disappointed.
Purple Velociraptors
One of my favorite bakeries when I visit the neighborhood.
Carla Barnicle
Amazing! Never disappointed, always a line and well worth the wait!!
Tony K
We came here because we were comparing cannolis from the 3 local shop spots everyone talks about. We got a mini lobster tail and a few different cannolis. The florentine was my favorite, but I think I like the one at mike's better. Overall good place to get pastries and they're always open.
Linda Walsh
You can't get better pastry anywhere 24 hours a day
T M
The staff is amazing. This is the quintessential local business that takes care of their customers. Go here over Mike's or other "tourist" bakery spots.
Pro: mom and pop style friendliness (easier when it's less busy), delicious sweets, 24 hours
Con: Very small shop, lines lead outside at times.
At some point, this was just the "late night" sweet place for me.You went out and then came here to end your night. You went in, ordered, and you were out. That all changed.
One time, I had a friend visiting me from out of the country. We struck up a conversation with a gentleman that worked here. We hadn't decided to buy anything, but he was going back in and we liked his company. We ended up buying some sweets and enjoying them as we discussed with him. When it was time for us to leave, he gave my friend a gift to "remember us by". This made his experience in Boston great. He had felt the city was "cold" and unfriendly.
I was undecided on a few items and could not choose for the life of me. The lady behind the counter took the time to give me more information on each thing. She didn't have to, but she made my experience that much better. She was also very good at describing everything, so I ended up buying all that I was torn between.
Maddie West
We got the Florentine cannoli, creme brûlée, and the Lobster tail and all of it was amazing! We’ve been here three times and the line moves so quickly! They take credit cards which is good.
J S
This place is unbelievable. I was walking to a known tourist bakery in the north end when I stumbled on this place. This is a hidden gem. I walked in and it was an old school type of bakery. I sampled at least 10 different things and it was amazing. I will never go to Boston again without stopping in here. The ricotta pie will blow your mind. I got one right out of the oven. Don’t bother going to the other bakery in the north end. This place is way better!!
No Sugar Daddy
A must stop destination when visiting Boston. Sweet tooth at 3 am? That's OK. Bova is open 24 hours per day.
Perrine Fevre
Nice shop, really family style , please stop by....the nutella cannoli is AMAZING!! and people are really kind!
Sean G
Magnificent baked goods and sandwiches. Well worth your time for lunch and desert.
David Kaufman
The Lemon squares and cakes are good. The cinnamon cake is great for breakfast.
Danielle Brosnan
We visited this location twice while on a weekend trip to Boston. We tried the meatball calzone, cheesesteak rice ball, cheesesteak croissant, Buffalo chicken croissant, and meatball rice ball. All were delicious. Great spot to hit late night.
Christopher
Great bakery that's open late! Cannolis are awesome with many flavors. Pastries are awesome and large selection. Hot food is good too. Their rice balls are 🔥🔥. Always a top late night spot when in area. Parking is near impossible but worth the visit for sure. 👍 …
Ms. P
I was really looking forward to this local treasure... let me say, their selection was crazy!!! I mean quite literally... everything looked good. I could've easily grabbed one of everything lol ... I got a Peanut Butter bomb, an oreo cannoli and a chocolate covered oreo... it all was just okay. Maybe I was overly excited, but the bomb was more mousse flavor than peanut butter flavor... the cannoli should've had oreo bits in it if it was an oreo version, it was just rolled in crumbs on the ends seemingly... and the covered oreos ... I think they're selling those in the cookie aisle... at the supermarket. All in all, a good experience though. Staff were super helpful, and knowledgeable... had an answer for every question, and tremendous patience given the crowd of continuous.. oh we can't decide! banter ... I'd recommend you try it for yourself!
Alice
I was never a fan of cannolis until my friend introduced me to Bova’s. Their Florentine cannoli is one of my favorite desserts. The shell has a thin crisp and the filling isn’t overly sweet so it feels so light when you eat it. I’m sad I didn’t get more. I’m really looking forward to going back to Bova’s just for this cannoli.
Stephen Gerard
Classic Italian bakery. If you can bake it they have it. Try a chocolate covered cannoli.
Karein Macaulay
They had a bit of a wait but we like it better as they don't cater to tourists and are very friendly. They have fresh breads too. The pastry was just as good as Modern's and Mike's.
dave brown
I love this place. Great amounts of mouthwatering pastries, cakes, cookies and breads. Feel like something on the savory side? They have you covered, the steak and cheese arancini are out of this world. Fantastic squares of pizza, too. Plus, they're open 24 hours a day. 3 in the morning sweet tooth? No problem, Bob's has you covered.
Natasha Nanda
The chocolate dipped cannoli is amazing! I also like that this place accepts credit card over $10 purchases. Makes it easy for people who don’t carry cash! Overall a great selection of cookies, Italian pastries, and fresh bread. I will be back
Stacey Shakey Trees
Delicious, everything is delicious!!!! Open 24/7 in the north end section of Boston MA. Cream puffs, strawberry shortcake, German chocolate cake, coconut cake, cannolis of every kind, cookies, rice crispy treats, big brownies, pasta dishes, pizza, beverages and the like. Open every day!!!!!
Shalabh Yeole
My personal favorite bakery for more than 3 years now and I will keep visiting till the time I'm in Boston. They never disappoint. Best bakery for me.
Janet Van Eerden
My husband and I visited Boston for 10 days last summer. We love Italian food and pastries so we spent a lot of time in the North end. We were so excited to go to the “famous” Mike’s bakery and were extremely disappointed in the quality, taste and service. We even tried it twice to make sure we gave it a fair chance. Totally a waste of time and money! Purely tourist hype! Finally, one of the restaurants on the north side told us to try Bova”s Bakery. Now... this place is AMAZING!!! Best Eclairs we’ve EVER had! And we’ve visited the best bakeries in Europe. Also, the Boston Creme Cake snd Coconut Cake is to die for! There wasn’t anything we bought that wasn’t absolutely incredible! We visited Bova’s at least 6 or 7 times! It’s probably a good thing we don’t live close because we would definitely gain a larger amount of weight! Make sure to not miss Bova’s! Plus... they are open 24hrs a day! What more can you ask for?!?!
ambassador smudge
a mixed bag of decadent delights.
my favorite is the elephant ear, especially when super fresh. it cannot be beat.
bread: GOOD!
i prefer it over the bricco bakery option.
$10 minimum charge in pandemic times is a bit of a bummer.
open 24 hours a day is why I will always have a good things to say about this place.
Ray
Because it on a back street, it doesn't have that many tourist as the "other" bakery on the main Street of North End. But I think this is more for the locals. Lots of choices, better prices, and they accept cards as to the other cash only place.
Good pastries. My little ones loved the lobster tail very much. Cannolis are yummy as well.
Matt
This place was very nice. Very authentic and very helpful and friendly staff. Their selection is great and the prices are fair. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I tried. The lemon bar was my favorite. They also seem to have a selection of prepared foods which was cool to see. One stop shop!
Alex Kosmos
My favorite bakery in the North End, has never disappointed me and always placed a smile on my stomach!
Nicholas Procopio
If you come to Bova's to get a "Florentine Cannoli," you're a fool. Come instead for the Peanut Butter Bomb, a Cookie-Monster-Half-Moon-Devouring-A-Stuffed-Italian-Cookie, or a Half-Dipped Chocolate M&M Cookie bigger than your head. Live a little, folks.
M Sale
Never never never go hungry.... always open yes ALWAYS HASNT BEEN CLOSED IN 60 YEARS 27/7/365 YES NEW YEARS EVE ALL NIGHT EVERY NIGHT OPEN....
Ask for tray terimasu if you like it.... lobster tails are amazing gear prices
Allyson S
Really glad someone mentioned this off the main road bakery. It was really superb. What a treat! Thank you.
JD Morse
What's there to say!? My go to place while I'm in Boston's North End, one of Boston's best kept secrets. Been around forever, deli AND bakery, they take credit cards AND open 24hours! Love this place, if you're visiting, just go, stock up before heading home you won't be disappointed. Parking is typical Boston, especially with the skinny streets in the north end so prepare for a little walk but hey, work up a appetite than walk it off returning to your car, problem solved!!
Tara Smith
The pastries are always on point, so yummy! The staff doesn't enjoy their job, so it seems. Not very nice. However, I would never stop going for that.
Todd Goff
I've been going to this fantastic bakery for 8 years. Every time we go we always go to pizza Regina's around the corner before we hit Bova's. The taste of the whoopee pie's after the pizza was amazing. As I introduce more people to this awesome bakery; they always go back to enjoy some more desserts. I sometimes take my friends with me to have a taste of this magic. They always come back for more. So, cheers to the most fantastic bakery in the North End. -Todd Goff's daughter (Abbie Goff :p)
Marketa Novakova
Cute, classic Italian bakery off the main strip. Love going to places that seem authentic. Didn't love the cookies with lemon in dough but the raspberry ruglash was heavenly. Was quite busy but quick to get served. Seems a little expensive for a little cookie but worth getting one for the experience.
ogblacksav Tv
Open 24/7. I’ve been here at all sorts of hours and it’s been worth it every time. The line can be long sometimes but besides that, plenty of tasty treats.
Brian pellicano
The hidden gem of the North End! The Stromboli’s/Calzones are by far the best in the city!
Tracy White
We recently visited Boston for a football game, I wanted to try BOSTON CREAM PIE. My friend told me to try BOVAS BAKERY... OMG!! it was the BEST CREAM PIE I have had, the service was GREAT.. If you go to Boston look them up. I even bought a piece back to Dallas, yes it's that good...
Sarthak Rajvanshi
This is all time favorite bakery. Everything is fresh and delicious. The best part is it is open 24 hours so I don't have to think when I crave good desserts. You can get anything and it'll taste great.
Dylan Knowles
Awesome little midnight adventure while visiting boston!
Jacqueline Esparza
Amazing bakery with an array of goodies. I always stop here when I visit Boston. It is a must!
Jenn Mather (Jenn)
Favorite bakery period! Forget the "Touristy" bakeries, this place is baking day and night. This is my favorite place to stop in to get anything I need. There is always something fresh out of the oven. It's awesome late night for fresh baked bread. I love stopping in because it's more of a local place and the staff are fantastic.
Hannah
Went here tonight and LOVED it!! Everyone was very friendly and personable...we placed our order and paid then they gave our two kiddos a chocolate covered pretzel rod. The cannolis were amazing! (I have had them from Mikes Pastries and did not like it). I will definitely go back again.
Kristi M
Stopped for cannoli on the recommendation of a local (instead of Mike's) on our way to the airport. We had cappuccino and chocolate chip. Both were amazingly creamy filling, not at all grainy as I've had before at other places, and the shells were delightfully crispy despite the fact they were not filled to order. I look forward to out next trip to Boston so we can stop by Bova's!
Abhishek Nandi
Found this gem while looking for the famous 'Mike's'.
Have to say that the cookies ( especially the almond one), croissants were heavenly:). Great collection of pastries as well.
Less sweet but soft with great flavors.
Even Mike doesn't sell cookies as good as this ;)
It is a must try if you are in Boston.
Ryan Horan
If you know, you know. People go crazy for Mike's and Modern, but Bova's is the true hidden gem of Boston's North End. They're open 24hrs a day, one of the few places in the city to say that. So if you're hungry at 3am you can stop in for pastry and arancini. Their macaroons are outstanding, and they do a variety of Italian pies and cookies and custard/cream-based desserts. Their ricotta pie is a major winner, and has become a must-have at our Thanksgiving dinner table. Skip the tourist spots on Hanover Street and check out the true best bakery in the North End.
J Ciccone
All time favorite bakery. Amazing place I found in the North End from a friend. I will not go anywhere else. Family owned. Everything made fresh open 24 hours. And love everything I have ever got from here.
Mel Bick
Delicious eats from this awesome corner bakery, tucked away in the north end! Amazingly scrumptious canolli.
Madiyar Tyurin
Customer service by Michelle is exceptional. Honestly, when you see and feel such an amazing customer service, you wanna come back to this place again and again. And that was on the Christmas Eve after a very very long and hard day. I work at a bakery and know how it feels. She made a freshly brewed coffee, immediately realized that I was looking for some vegetarian options when I asked if they had a caprese sandwich, and at the same time could fix an issue of another customer and talk on a phone. Michelle, you are the best!
Sincerely, Madi
Btw, cheese pizza was really delicious.

They make some really delicious and awesome desserts here. Everything is so fresh and yummy and the service is so friendly and inviting. Went back twice in my three day stay in Boston. Definitely try the chocolate bomb, blueberry cheesecake, and cannolis, especially the Florentine one.

My husband is working next to this amazing Bakery, and he has been enjoying getting his lunch there for the past week. He brings home the most delicious cheese cake I have ever tasted in my life. I have tried several different pasteries from here and they are HEAVENLY!
I am going to miss being spoiled with these treasures they are better than getting flowers or jewelry. I love to eat. If you want to impress anyone with something special this bakery is just the place to visit. You have my five 🌟vote Bova's.

Cash only and I think it's open 24/7. We went on a Saturday and it was packed, like too packed. The lack of clear lines to order was annoying but that was the patrons not the place. A friend recommended the pistachio cookies and they did not disappoint. Also got a couple canolli and something like an almond coconut chocolate macaroon. My wife also got a Florentine and she wishes she bought a dozen of them. Worth the chaos for the goodness of the cookies.

Bova's bakery was absolutely amazing. It is a bit off the beaten path but definitely worth the stop if you are in the area and looking for deliciousness. There is a huge selection from macaroons to butter cookies to canollis, lobster tails, bread and so much more. They even have a small selection of lasagna and a few other entree type items. This place is open 24 hours a day, accepts plastic and the staff was very friendly.

Best cannolis in the North End, and best bakery out of the big three

I should start off my review by saying that I only consumed one item at Bova's so take this review with a grain of salt.
Half of Bova's is the experience of ordering. We went at 9:30 PM on a Saturday night and the place was pretty packed (though it's small to start with). There are counters on both sides of the bakery with seemingly different items so take a glance at them and then get in line for the counter you want to order from.
It didn't take more than 5 minutes to place our order and head out of the place but I had a large slice of carrot cake which was very good (and I've had my fair share of carrot cakes).
There are so many options that I wanted to try (the calzones, the rice balls, the cinnamon bread) so it warrants a trip back!
Pro tip: $10 minimum on credit cards so either have cash or be prepared to pig out!

Waited in line because someone in our party insisted. Not sure the hype. It's fine, but not out of this world. I tried the cannoli, maybe I should have tried something else.

BEST Italian bakery we’ve ever been too!

The BEST! Bova's was our go to place in Boston on our vacation! We had pastries every day. Loved the Cheescake, and the Florentine Cannoli was my favorite.

The BEST Bakery! Just go!

In the north end you hear modern or mikes. This place us better than both. Hands down the best bakery un the north end. Great selection, friendly family staff. No sandwiches any more but who cares. Off the main strip but soooooooworth it

How can anyone not love this classic authentic Italian bakery? It is open 24 hours, and has rack upon rack of the most tempting pastries, both sweet and savory, served up with a minimum of drama by lightening fast staff. The sugar levels are sharply lower than tourist-oriented competitors nearby, so you really get to taste the richness of the pastry rather than just stupefying sweetness.

Dreams do come true. Wandering through Boston and was blessed to stumble into Little Italy. Lobster tails taste just as divine as the ones I had in Rome. Nick even sang a little song for us as he packaged up our treats. Perfection!! Do not even think about visiting Boston without a visit to Bova bakery.

They made me the most delicious strawberry short cake for my occasion. Spot On. My bicycle ride affected the appearance but it was devoured and delicious. My ride made the cake look like 2020 😂 but the taste made up for it.
Best of luck to you …

Excellent North End smaller pastry shop. The lobster tails were really good. The cannoli was really good and they have a ton of variety. They also serve lunch which is a plus.

Great service and found out that it was open 24/7. Our go-to place for a dessert on a night where we didn't have much to do. Great place for a tourist looking for a really quick dessert.
The desserts were also amazing, along with the cheese pizza there!

Saw the couple videos on Food Insider YouTube channel and was headed to Boston for a little winter nostalgia anyways... The short and sweet... The BEST cannolli I have ever had. Ordered the creme brulee and the Florentine, both fantastic but the Florentine was another level of perfection.
You can totally feel the family atmosphere, no frills environment but the food speaks for itself. It's off the "normal tourist path" but we're talking a difference of 1 street.
The manager John was there and he gave us a warm welcome , great guy!👍 Make the extra few steps to Bova's, you'll will understand once you try it.

Best bakery in Boston. Picked up two calzones, one eclair, and a canolli... each were delicious. Mikes Bakery does not stand up to the originality, flavor, and overall deliciousness of Bova’s. Price is fair, open 24hrs, and quick service with a variety of items to choose from!!

The hidden gem of the north end!! Everything here is absolutely outstanding! The lobster tails are incredible, as are all the pastries here! Their bakery pizza is some of the best I've had and their employees are super friendly!

I love this place, best pastries, cannoli's and food. Get there earlier enough to get a sandwich made fresh. Rice balls are the bomb, really can't say enough about this place. Love, love, love them.

Whenever in Boston, we always stop here for desserts. It has a great variety of cakes, cookies and pastries, and usually isn’t too busy. The prices are reasonable, and the staff is pleasant.

Heard about this place from several locals after carrying around a box from Mike’s Pastries. We got different items from each place. I had the ricotta pie and my sister had the coconut cream, and we shared a sfogliatelle. It was all delicious. The place is small, cozy, with lots to choose from. I love that it is 24-hours. Would stop by here again.

No matter what time of day, night or early morning, the pastry case is always full and the service is impeccable. Even on a busy Saturday before Easter things moved so quick and smoothly! I have eaten my way around the bakery and everything is fresh and delicious. My husband’s favorite is the strawberry cheesecake and the calzones and peanut butter Congo bars are out of this world! Thanks for keeping us full and happy!

This is the best bakery in the North End, hands down. However, the line organization is non-existent, and it always feels like we're cutting in front of people who were there before us. Friendly waitstaff, great food, what's not to love? Just pay attention to who is in line before/after you.
Jennifer Martinez
Everything looks so good in the bakery; it's hard to choose. Since it's not located in the hub if the North End, there's definitely some breathing room on the sidewalks and inside. The inside of the bakery is small, but is manageable to maneuver in. I ended up getting an Oreo cannoli and it was delicious!
Since it's open 24hr, I can see myself going post concerts or sporting events. Cheers to Bova!

Definitely the best bakery in Boston. Such a hidden gem. I've never spent less then $50 there and always come out with 2 big bags. The calzones are great. The staff are some of the friendliest people I've ever met. It's amazing when you go in there at 3am on a week day and there are other customers.
Jen Machado
Great Italian family Bakery with very reasonable prices! Huge selection of cookies, cannolis, breads, the best calzones and just about any baked Italian goods you can think of! Very friendly staff, never too busy to stop to see what you need.♥️
John Moran
One of the best kept secrets of the north end. Fresh bread baked around the clock and so much more. Canoli, cakes, cookies, some of the best rice balls ever. There openn24 x 7 with a walk up window, and online ordering available.
Joe Parlon
There is much to the allure and character of Bsoton's Historic North End and a big piece of that character is the food industry from markets to cafes, to bakerys to restaurants. Bova's bakery defines the awesome food culture of the North End from pastries to cookies to prepared foods. It is a family run, family oriented, neighborhood treasure. The staff could not be more friendly or helpful. It is a must visit stop in the North End that you will be very glad you made.

Delicious pastries all night long?! Yes!
