Everything about this bakery is absolutely divine! From the cupcakes to the Petit fours to the sprinkle cookies, to the smile cookies they have pastries down pat! Their sandwiches are wonderful and their whole cake options are plentiful. The only suggestion I can think of to tell you would be to come early, good stuff goes first and is he is a very crowded right after lunch. box hungry folks around for the sweets

I just didn’t understood why I had to pay in advance when I was told I could pay when I picked up. I guess it was because I called a couple times to adjust my order, but I didn’t think that would be an issue just to change the icing color. Wow…a little tedious and petty in my opinion if that’s the kind of customer service they offer.Based on that experience over the phone, I’m not impressed and I haven’t even picked up my cupcakes yet. It’s not my fault I was misinformed by one of your employees..

Next year please wrap the Christmas tree coffee cakes, just placing them in a box with no real lid has mad them go stale quickly…not worth the money otherwise

I believe that there is a downtown Homewood trifecta - Savage's Bakery, O'carr's Restaurant, and O'Henry's Coffee Shop. At Savage's I highly recommend the sugar cookies and the fudge drops. Both are delicious! I'm sure everything else is good, too, but those are my favorite.

Simply PERFECTION! At Savage's Bakery I feel as if I'm stepping back in time to an old fashioned bakery where the staff is still so friendly and the goodies are all freshly made and are certainly to die for! I live 70 miles away, but I will make the long drive to Savage's often because I cannot find another bakery other than Savage's that still makes a "true" petit four...and theirs are deelish!! They make every type of cookie, cake, muffin, bread and pastry that you can imagine and more. Try their authentic petit fours, cheese straws and the french pastries. I simply LOVE this place! 🍰🍩🍪

I ordered a cake 2 weeks in advance from another bakery. They called me the afternoon before the party to say they couldn’t make it. A co-worker suggested Savage’s so i gave them a call. They are absolutely amazing and so accomidating. I explained what happened and they had this cake ready for pick up that day. The cake was delcious and decorated perfectly. I will be getting all my cakes from them from now on!

I ordered petit fours from here because historically they have been perfect. However, these were dry. They were not good and we didn't finish them. The artistry was lovely-beautiful dogwood flowers as advertised, but looks aren't everything, especially in food. Will likely look for another bakery next time.

Savage’s is my favorite local bakery! Everything is amazing, but my favorite treats are the chocolate drops, which taste like brownie batter, the Swedish dream cookies and the sugar cookies. They always have fun seasonal shapes available! We have an annual tradition of going for cookies in the afternoon on the first day of school each August. We love this bakery!

A happy customer here! Edgar’s Wouldn’t take my order for a simple oatmeal raisin cookie. Said “we don’t make them” so I called Savages who happily obliged my request. It’s the simple things. I spoke with Code. He was awesome, so friendly and professional. I pick up my order tomorrow. Thank you savages for appreciating your customers and filling custom orders, old fashioned as they may be “frosted oatmeal raisin cookies!” Were delicious. Bless you! Loved this place!!! Patrons and passers by all had great things to say! Some people older than me got their birthday cakes there as a child! They even have a sandwich shop I heard good things about. There is a community wall with flyers which is an excellent way to connect and network and get involved with local fun in the community. I definitely felt very warmly welcomed. I'm sad I cannot be even closer to this great place every day!

Incredible bakery in downtown Homewood! Great tasting baked goods. Especially the Melt-aways! Try them all! The staff is great and this place is extremely well run! Go there for pastries, deli sandwiches, birthday cakes and now, go for the bread pudding!!

Cakes and pastries in my opinion, has gone down in taste or quality or something....I can't put my finger on the exact thing that is wrong. The actual food has not gone down in taste or quality that much, and the bread I am actually not sure about. However, savages is a staple in the community and it does and has done so much for the community, that has to be taken into consideration. Also, it could always just be my particular tastes that have changed as I have gotten older. I suppose that has to be taken into account as well. Still love smelling this place from down the street

I had a cake made for a special birthday celebration. It was beautiful and the taste was absolutely delicious. They made a lemon buttercream and it was a huge hit!!!! There was not a piece left. I will definitely have my cakes made here from now on. Thank you so much Savages for the wonderful job and the awesome customer service

I ran out of time to make my 35 year old daughter a cake and decided to order one from Savage's. The person that answered the phone was so nice and accommodating. She made sure I was going to be happy even though I needed it that same day. The cake was GORGEOUS and delicious!!! Thanks Savage's.

I think Savages’ cookies and sweets are very good. I bought star cookies and Christmas trees, etc., on Christmas Eve, stored them in a tin, and the remaining star cookies were still good Jan 1. I started back with Savages’ several years ago even though another bakery is more convenient and stylish. Their cookies, cheese straws, petit fours, rolls are very good, beyond compare, in my opinion better than competitors. The quality is always consistent.

Savage's is GREAT! Great taste and the bakers are just amazing but what always keeps me coming back is the art! I don't have to choose the same thing everyone else does...I talk with the folks there and sometimes I have to provide little things like....the plastic characters or whatnot and they just do an OUTSTANDING job each and every time I order a cake for my son or daughter's birthdays. I've ordered "specialties" like white cake with raspberry filling and artwork split between a boy and girl birthday since my children's birthdays are 3 days and 6 years apart sometimes they share a large cake and Savage's does a marvelous job!

I give them 5 stars because we ordered a cake for my daughter's 1st birthday party. By the time I got home, the cake fell apart. I called them and explained that the cake was probably my fault, but i needed a cake for the party that starts in 2 hours. They allowed me to bring the cake back, they replaced the cake (at no charge), the cake was delicious, and they saved the day (and possibly my marriage). The staff is great

I'm amazed at the variety. Firstly, the deli is the only place outside of my kitchen that I've gotten cream cheese and olive sandwiches. And they make a MEAN one. Secondly, if you can go wrong by picking any dessert, I'm not sure how. It's a very loving shop and it shows.

By far one of the best bakeries around. Their cookies and melt aways are to die for. A little expense but then you are paying for quality. Gingerbread cookies, petit fours, sugar cookie with icing, melt aways, custom cakes, bread, and much much more. When we are back in Birmingham this is a must stop for us.

I got a dozen of the Almomd coffee cake pastries and let me tell you, THEY ARE THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD!! Hands down absolute best. And like others have commented on here; CODE, He is just amazing! He is very authentic and truly cares for your experience. The food speaks for itself and the ownership did the bham metro area a favor by having such a great team to help you while you are visting this gem!!! Extremely satisfied, will be back!

Super nice staff, beautiful cakes and cookies -and the pimiento cheese is really tasty! Called in the AM resigned to getting my daughter a plin cake for an unplanned surprise birthday party that night. Other bakeries said, "sorry, need three days if you want more than the three premade." Savage said, "our decorator is working on one now but can take care of you, no problem." When we got there after lunch we found out he had a family emergency and was having to lea ve early. :-( Too bad, do sad tight? Nope! Not here! They helped me tone down what I wanted just a little and made her a beautiful custom cake that is actually cooler than my original idea! They also have really cute Auburn (and uat) cookies, tons of different other kinds, and a sweet for every tooth! Wound up getting the cake, some really cool cookies for grandkids, an lb of pimento cheese, and even a gingerbread cookie for me! Highly reccomend!

*UPDATE* The King Cakes were the best ever! They were for my husband and he said they were just as he had remembered from his childhood, maybe better! So yessss! This bakery is awesome! Original Review: I just placed an order for an 'out of season' cake, a King Cake. I called several places to make the request and I was practically laughed at hung up on! But Savages gladly took my call and was more than happy to whip it up from scratch for me. I don't need it until Saturday so I will update this post when I receive it.. But I just had to leave a great review for the ordering process. Margaret was lovely and ever so helpful! As long as my pickup goes great, I will be coming back here! And despite the other reviews, the price for the King Cake is actually cheaper than buying one in NOLA around Mardi Gras.

I forget about how yummy Savage's is! Deli sandwiches are a bit pricey, but you won't be disappointed. Cookies, cakes, loaves and rolls. He sure to try the Orange rolls. Delicious.

Always get the cinnamon rolls and the orange pull apart rolls from the case. Very good with my morning coffee.

Cute Neighborhood bakery that has been there for years. It's a Homewood staple. It's a fun place to bring your family for cookies. Prices aren't outrageous but definitely aren't inexpensive. They have a deli counter and can make sandwiches, but the menu is pretty limited.

The genesis of what I now know as Savage's cakes and cookies started a long time ago in a bakery called Waites. When they shut down...never to reopen...we were so happy that Savage's took over...fantastically!! Every kid needs to mark the milestones of their life with a Savage's cake!

We had the Friday special that included a Swedish Dream cookie. Great lunch. The lace cookies, pecan cookies and thumbprint cookies are delicious and at about .60 cents each satisfy the craving for a perfect little bit of sweetness.
