Reviews of Old Europe Pastries
Victoria Pennington
These treats were the best! Also got some macarons but ate them before I thought about snapping a picture. The raspberry mousse cake was to die for! Absolutely divine! The tiramisu is one of the best I've ever had! Definitely a place worth stopping at!
Lisa Kaye (Lisa)
Loved all of the gluten free desserts!! I would definitely go here if you love tiramisu & are gluten free. The peanut butter cake/pie was amazing. So nice to be able to order more than just a brownie or a cookie. They have so many choices.
Sylvia Balli
Amazing! Came across this hidden gem in a YouTube video and I was so excited to stop in. When I say I wanted one of everything that is no lie. Every dessert looked incredible. Plus the customer service was great. So kind and genuine proud of the company and it shows in their delightful desserts.

New location, who dis?
Across the street from the old location is the new home for best desserts in town! A nice combo of modern finishes and timeless looking ones.
Amazing food is still there! Plus so much more room to sit and enjoy your coffee and pastries. Yum!
Nicole Malphrus
So many tempting options! Enjoyed our tea! The diamond cake was pretty good, just a tad dry but that may have been the style. Really hoping to try another next time we stop by!

BEST pastries in Asheville. We hired Old Europe to provide a dessert bar for our wedding as well as our wedding cake and it was a huge hit with our guests. Working with Abby was very easy she helped me pick out the best options for our guests as well as how many to order. They were lovely to work with. And the desserts were DELICIOUS. Recommend to any couple that is having a wedding to do a dessert bar, it helps provide options for everyone.

Always busy but well worth the wait. Absolutely a must stop when you go downtown Asheville. Perfect pastries and coffee for breakfast or a late day snack.
Megan Moritz
Very good desserts, but we were expecting to be able to go in and sit down. Long line, but exceptional service (even very late). I got the coconut cake. The picture doesn't do it justice, as the lighting was awful, but it was very light and fluffy and not too sweet.
Michael McQueen
New location is such a good welcome to the new year. Psyched to have dessert date night inside vs getting haggled on the streets while trying to enjoy their delicious hazelnut napoleon. Looking forward to more visits here!
Not A Tourist
I can’t believe how many gluten free options! My only regret was I didn’t get the carrot 🥕 cake. Next time. Amazing friendly service. …
Kinsey Painter
Incredible gluten free desserts. I am a highly sensitive celiac and I was not contaminated by anything I ate here. I tried the Godiva and vanilla cheesecakes, the lemon Bavarian, and the raspberry and pink lemonade macarons. The pink lemonade macarons were superb. I love cheesecake and I was not disappointed whatsoever. Thank you for a great experience! My favorite shop in all of Asheville 🤍
Martina G Barnes
Everyone raved about our wedding cake and said they had never had such delicious macarons in their lives! They were so fresh they melted in our mouths! We loved the chocolate and strawberry layers the best.
Thank you for helping us make such beautiful memories!
Margaret Suddarth Bansemer
Tucked away on one of the side streets - this little bakery is quite the treasure. We got there around 7:30 on a weeknight - and they still had plenty of variety. We ordered the éclair (best one I've ever had), chocolate cake, and a chocolate macaron. There were so many good options to choose from - so we had a hard time narrowing it down. this place was a gem.
McKenzie Provost
My wife and I had OE cater the dessert for our wedding and it was wonderful!! They made the entire process so simple for us and the desserts were DELICIOUS!!!
Kayla Beavers
THE best dessert stop downtown. Also great for ordering birthday cakes, I highly recommend going all out and getting a cheesecake.
Lauren Bell
My friends stopped in and, with food dairy and gluten allergies, did not expect to have any choices here. There was a good amount- I got the gluten free and dairy free cobbler and is was INCREDIBLE. Very dog friendly as well- my doggo got to come in and get a treat, too.
Chace Strunk
Perfect GO-TO breakfast/brunch place! They have perfect pastries, and GLUTEN FREE AT THAT! To beat it all their gluten free options aren't dry like alot of places may be. I also explained to person what I was wanting coffee wise and got exactly what I wanted with oat milk!! This is an amazing place ❤️❤️ definitely will be back.
Vikki Vaeth
Such an incredible pastry shop! Brought back memories of my Grandmother. I couldn’t decide until I saw French Cream. Just simply yummy! 🎉 …
Sean Hogan
My girlfriend Melody & I went here a couple weeks ago, we tried their Eclair's and tried a Breve for our first time. It was delicious, we will certainly be back in the future!
Samantha Cronin
Literally just left here and we were blown away! The food and coffee were so good and the customer service was even better! We got the tiramisu, chocolate cake, cheese danish croissant, ham & Swiss croissant, eclair and a cappuccino. As you can see I couldn’t decide on what to get because everything looked so great 😂 the cashier was so patient and answered all of my questions. Will 100% be back and worth it if there’s a line 🔥
Brendon Taylor
We loved these desserts coffee and tea!!! What a great place to stop after dinner! Truly European and you really taste dessert not sugar. We're looking forward to breakfast tomorrow 👍 thank you! Also great staff that explained and made sure you're satisfied with your picks! …
Linnie McClellan
I had coffee here every day while in Asheville. There is always a line and it is worth waiting. Why be in a hurry? They love what they do here, and the desserts have many gluten free offerings that do not taste gluten free. I had the Terimasu and it was a glorious treat, half in the afternoon and half the next morning. They know what they are doing in regard to coffee, and the best little pastries could be found in this shop than anywhere in town.
calia kilbo
11/10 the workers were so nice. As a gluten free and dairy free person I walked in with a friend not expecting to get anything but then I had OPTIONS of allergen free deserts. I got the berry cobbler. I felt like the specialist girl in the world cause I haven’t had desert in so long.
Anxious Adventurer
Adorable spot with cozy interior and friendly staff. Lots of drinks and treats to choose from (the mocha looked amazing). The coconut macaroon was wonderful but the almond croissant had no almond paste :/
Tia A
We came from Florida for a wedding and have been exploring the area. We happen to stop at this little place for a coffee. They had a nice dessert section as well. My husband got some berry cake and I got some macaroons with a toffee nut coffee. Everything was delicious, I recommend stopping in and giving this place a try.
B
Not the best pastry shop, but they do have a lot of gluten free options which isn’t that common to see out of a pastry shop. I’m a full gluten kind of gal so a lot of the items left me a feeling underwhelmed.
Bronson Kurtz
Everything i had was very tasty and they gave vegan options including vegan cupcakes.
Since the place is tiny there is only room for 1 group which means a line develops very quickly outside.
The people that work here need to level up their energy. A lethargic customer service experience really takes away from the European feel that you are expecting when you walk in.
Despite me being thankful and positive all I could feel off the service was a desire for me to leave. That’s kinda yucky and really affected the experience here.
That being said the pasties were all excellent. 3 stars for bad and negative customer service experience and 5 stars for pastries if you read this.
chelsey estridge
I don’t typically leave reviews, but the GF tiramisu is a dream come true. After many years of eating gluten free, I‘ve had my fair share of mediocre desserts. This surpassed my expectations in every way and I will definitely be back for more treats. Highly recommend if you have dietary restrictions and want something that tastes like the real stuff.
Melissa Karp
Their new location is beautiful and it is really an advantage to have the seating to enjoy a quick coffee and pastry before the day starts or as a break from walking around town. Their gluten free selection is huge and it is so very exciting to be able to enjoy a berry crumble, carrot cake slice, macaron, tiramisu, etc. just like everyone else. Not only that, but the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. It’s on my list to stop by every time I’m in Asheville.
Brad Tanner
Line out the door. That's all you need to know. Bought 3 different and then went back the next day and bought more to share. Wait in line if one is there.
Laura Yaeger
Wondered why there was always a line in front of this place! Decided to get in line after skipping dessert at dinner. So worth the wait! The pastries and desserts were delicious. As good or better than the ones I have had in Europe. Got up the next morning to try their coffee - yum!
Noah Jacobs
Really great croissants, INCREDIBLE macarons. GREAT COFFEE. AMAZING GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS. My only issue would be that the flow of it is a bit clunky and slow, when it gets busy.
Caleigh B.
One of Asheville’s true treasures. I’ve been lucky enough to try most of the treats over the years and not one bite has ever been short of fabulous. Absolutely lovely people running the show. Their new space is beautifully done too. Like a nod to AVL’s art deco history but updated with a touch of romance. 10/10 definitely make Old Europe a must.
Brandt Jones
Delicious baked goods! There's something for everyone here from cookies to pies to cakes and beyond. The carrot cake is great and tiramisu that is second to none. If you're near Asheville treat yourself to this wonderful slice
Blair DeYoung
I ordered a custom rainbow layered "Domo" cake for my kid's 18th birthday. The did a phenomenal job!!! The cake was beautiful inside and out, and it was delicious! I don't even like cake or frosting normally, but it was that good.
D Stewart
This was my go-to bakery and coffee shop during my 5-day stay in Asheville. I loved the oat milk lattes, cookies, and croissants and I'm sad that I had to leave town before trying the key lime pie or any of the cakes. The best thing about this place is the friendly service. I felt welcome from day one. They practice social distancing as only one party is allowed in at a time.

Our 1st trip to Asheville in December it was chilly and we were looking forward to sitting in a coffee shop with dessert to plan out our day adventure however it got awkward fast...first let me say
Phenomenal choices of GF pastries weve seen anywhere
however the shop left ys standing out in the cold literally
Its standing room only
as establishmentis is as wide as an alley way, there was nothing on their website about lack of seating or even being allowed to eat inside
with a sign on door that says "one party at a time inside"
seriously our college aged kids were asked to wait outside
since they were just looking till my husband finished parking the car
Once my husband arrived we all went back inside, ordered and sent outside as theres no tables or chairs inside or even sesting outside to enjoy your coffee or treats...excellent desserts if you want it to go. But as visitors we didn't know,
Elaine Chen
Their Hazelnut Napoleon is amazing! I love the texture and the flavor. I had to come back the next to try out other items. Personally I think their tiramisu is a bit dry. The carrot cake would be for people that love sweets. They have a wide variety of choices. Would like to come back some day to try out the other options!
Lena D
It was sooooooo good, can’t decide what cake I liked best! I bake a lot, and it is very hard to find something that can satisfy my taste but these cakes were one of the best I had (from cake shops). And bonus is that majority is gluten free(whaaaat)!!!👌🏻 …
T H
Line wasn't too bad. Service was pretty good. We has tiramisu and some hazelnut thing. They were okay but not excellent. Great selection of pastries.
Darlene Akom
Knowledgeable server helped us choose our desserts considering the many options and how delightful they all looked. After a taste of their Chestnut Cake, Chocolate Chocolate Cake and the Warmed Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie with whipped cream it’s a place we know we must revisit. Coffee was a perfect accompaniment to the pastries.
Ashley Price
The vanilla cheesecake is the ✨BEST✨ I’ve ever had! My husband got the pumpkin cheesecake and it was delicious! Definitely visit if you love sweets!
Jamie Lee
Pastries were yummy and not too sweet. To the lady with the silvery/white hair who helped us....thank you so much for being so nice and the small chat. The day I came in someone hit my car and ran, so I was very upset. I was visiting Asheville for the weekend, and it felt like it just ruined my trip. Wasn't feeling so good about the human race, and you just helped me through my day and my hope for humanity. I really appreciated your kindness and customer service. Thank you
mike cosola
What a treat... growing up in an Italian household pastry was always on the table. This bakery was a pleasant surprise. Fresh, extremely well made and delicious pastries. If your in Ashville this is a must visit. The cappuccino was also delicious.
B Diditagain
If you prefer your pastries to be full of taste, not syrupy sugar, this is definitely the place to visit. The desserts at Old Europe Pastries are absolutely superb. The hazelnut napolean was light, creamy, moist, and OH-SO good. The strawberry torte was the best I ever had. This place is a cozy spot to relax and indulge your sense of taste (and smell). The staff is very friendly and eager to answer any questions about their delicious offerings. Definitely a must- do when in downtown Asheville
Jeannie Dunn
Best gluten free desserts in all of Asheville ! Don’t waste your time going anywhere else. For the gluten-tolerant there’s also some other great selections but you won’t miss the gluten in these gf desserts they are just so decadent !
Andrew Fay
Amazing pastries, desserts, and coffee. The apple strudel cruffin was amazing. Nice to have a ham and cheese croissant option too. The desserts are all over the top!
John Herbstritt
Visited the shop two consecutive mornings and was impressed with the variety and quality of the pastries. Nice conversation with staff while ordering... Thanks again, Liz, your suggestions were perfect. Plan to stop in again once back in the area.
Teresa D Smith
This place has it all, and more...was our first time here, but not our last, pastries are out of this world good, they had gluten free pastries available which I have to have...the Macron 12 for 25$ and speciality coffee's...place is small in nature but BIG in flavor to your sweet tooth!!! Outside seating available, parking is yiur biggest challenge in getting here...Prices are on the high side but oh so worth it...save up and go!!! May your sweet tooth be happy as ours were...The SmithClan

Such a great variety of pastries, sweet and savories for breakfast. The coffee and teas are lovely. Definitely recommend.
I found the croissants to be sweeter than typical European— there’s an added glaze. That’s the only reason I gave a 4 instead of 5. I’m not a fan of very sweet.
The cramped dining area has a true European feel: benches and stools in a long narrow area bunched around tiny tables. Leave your complaints and enjoy Old World style intimate conversations.
Laurie Arshonsky
I’d been here 15 years ago and just had to sneak a peak! After gawking at all the rich, sweet choices, I decided on an “isher” which was a shortbread cookie with a thin layer of apricot and half dipped in chocolate. I was disappointed there was no decaf chai latte, as it was late, but my feelings reversed when I took one bite of the pastry. For $3, it was a delightful dessert with just the right number of calories and good memories! The server was gracious and kind. I hope to be back before 15 more years go by!
Maya Bolling
I’m lactose intolerant, so I decided to try to vegan cupcake. It was good!
I’d describe the flavor as this: It tasted and felt so real I was scared it wasn’t vegan. If it were a normal cupcake, I’d be unimpressed and feel that it was unfit to be in a bakery like this, but granting that it was vegan I was super happy to just be able to eat a chocolate cupcake again. It’s good! Tastes like a homemade chocolate cupcake.
The hazelnut napoleon was also delicious, I made my boyfriend try it (just a little bit!!) because it was so good and I didn’t want him to miss out.
C N
Excellent coffee and inventive, fresh pastries. They have both sweet and savory options.
Cassidy Byrd
The Hazelnut Napoleon was in a top tier of desserts, and I wouldn't be surprised to find it on a 5 Star dining establishment menu. The latte was consistent and relatively smooth (although had a bit more acidic value than I usually prefer), but overall it's at least double the quality of what you'd find at Starbucks. The staff is incredibly welcoming, and the place is cozy and quiet (albeit a bit small). I will be returning frequently eat all the things.
Leiha Johnson
So good! Wonderful people, amazing treats and coffee. The coconut macaroon was gluten free and so delicious I wish I had bought them all!
Rachel A.
We got the Godiva chocolate mousse, strawberry mousse, and lemon berry torte. My husband really like chocolate and thought the Godiva was the best. The strawberry mousse tasted very much of natural strawberry. My favorite was the lemon berry. It had just the right amount of tartness to sweetness. I find it to be the perfect balance.
Debbie Knebel
Had the heavenly Hazelnut Napoleon and since our parking meter was calling to expire in minutes, we took it to go. That may have been a saving grace, as I'm sure I'd still be sitting there trying everything in their pastry shelf. It was the best pastry I've had in well over 45 years!! I will be returning soon, despite the 45 Mile drive. A thanks to the couple sitting outside...we viewed their pastry and delight as they were consuming it and we knew we had to dive in.
Moloud (MLD)
Tiramisu was so fresh and light 👌🏻🍰
They make good Napoleon but it’s not like the original Napoleon, the middle layers are like cake, and the outer layers are like puff pastry. …
Marina Figueroa
I ordered a latte and the chocolate truffle cake. If you love chocolate, you'll definitely love the truffle cake. 🤤
The barista and service was great. The line was very long, but definitely worth the wait, in my opinion :).
Bry Sidwell
If you’re Gluten Free (I’m Celiac), there simply is no better dessert spot than Old Europe in all of Asheville. You will find dishes that are made GF that are VERY rare.
I took my mom and she about cried when she saw GF tiramisu. She hasn’t been able to eat any since she was diagnosed 20 years ago. She was in heaven and is ready to go back for more!
Being both GF and LF myself, I do not have a hard time finding something delicious to eat.
Vegan and Gluten Free options are abound at Old Europe!!!
Vespa Geek
This is the best latte I’ve ever had. So many pastry choices. Hmmm. $30 later…..YUM!
Susan Campbell
Long lines are a good thing, as this one was definitely worth the wait. Only one party allowed in to order. Decadent selections leaving you craving everything in their display case. A little on the pricer side for coffees and such but the pastries were well worth every dollar.
Corinne Lattimer
Coffee and pastries were fine. Quiche and croissant lean more on richness than on flavor. No sit down service. I would try again but first time was not memorable. Didn't measure up to the European promise/expectation.
Katie Hensel
I was skeptical about this place, having been to Europe a bunch and knowing how much they pride themselves on baked goods, but this place did not disappoint. Both cakes we had were delicious - and kudos to them for making it clear which options were GF or Vegan (and there were a lot of them). Grab some coffee and dessert here and end your evening on a high note!
Michael Ashburn
Loved these pastries. We did not have time to take any pictures as we were all to busy eating them on the street out of their boxes. SOOO good. Classic goodness
kelly sharp
My fav cake and coffee spot. Feels like you're in another country. Had lg cappuccino and their coconut cream cake. So good
Erin B
Really delicious delicate and intricate desserts. Many are gluten free. Prices are reasonable for quality and staff is friendly. Also open late, which is great. Fabulous food and you can tell as they are consistently busy.
Kara Christine
My favorite bakery in all of WNC! They have a wide variety of gluten free options which I love, and friendly staff. Everything is soooo delicious that I always buy more than I initially plan. The inside is small and cozy, and there may not always be seating available, but I prefer to eat my goodies on the go around Asheville anyway :) It definitely has a quaint, slightly glamorous European vibe. I live about 30 minutes away and it’s always worth the drive!! I recommend this spot to everyone and all of my friends and family know it’s my favorite!
Anna Otis
Love this place! I always visit while in town. These desserts are almost too pretty to eat. I like that they’re not overly sweet and lots of options. Cute place for coffee and sweet treats. They have gluten free options too.
jagadish kini
Yummmmm!! So many desserts one gets confused on what not to eat. We were in Asheville for 3 days and visited this shop each day to try a different dessert. Highly recommended.. Lemon Bavarian, key lime pie, tiramisu, chocolate pastry.. They have gluten free options too
Alexander Shyshla
Delicious!!! One of the best deserts in a city! Great people, good coffee. Lots of pastries.
Dina Fl
The most the best the must! I love it. Everything so delicious and balanced as in Europe. Not too sweet not too much cream etc. I always will stop when I am in Asheville.
Eric White
We came into town for a concert and the very next morning we stumbled upon this place. the smell alone is enough to draw you in. Amazing espresso was only the beginning though. We discovered pastries and baked goods that hit every flavor profile with prestine precision. Amazed at how much I loved this place. Abysmally sad I love 6 hours away and will not be back anytime soon. I would recommend every local spend every morning here. What a pleasant way to start your day.
Haley Osmer
It was a perfectly decent cafe. There was always a line while I was in there, but the two women working behind the counter were speedy and efficient at always keeping it moving. And their dessert selection was pretty awesome.
That said, while it was perfectly decent, nothing blew me away. The coffee was good, but my cake was super dry, however I'm not going to judge all the food by one blah dessert.
I definitely recommend at least popping in and seeing if anything in the cafe calls to you.
Shashank Kunjibettu
Yum!! The Hazelnut Napoleon & Macarons (must try) tasted out of this world… Had a serving of carrot cake which tasted OK - a bit dry… Will be back here to try other offerings… Expect to wait 5-10mins in a queue outside before you can order.. All pastries are a bit on the expensive side for a hole in the wall/ take out place; but maybe you need to pay a premium for the best of things..
Joel Bean
We got the Lemon Bavarian and Bread Pudding with a double espresso. Both desserts were amazing and the espresso was perfect. The Bavarian was light and fruity. The Bread Pudding was slightly tart. The espresso was dark and robust, just as an espresso should be. The seating area is small and cozy. It's a perfect spot for dessert while you're walking downtown Asheville.
Matt Lamb
All of the pastries were peanut free, which is a welcome change. The lemon Bavarian, french creamy, and blackberry macaron were all expertly crafted with wonderful flavor and consistency. The Sumatran coffee had been roasted 12 days ago, but still had very fresh notes. Would definitely recommend.
Jennifer Pellow
We stopped by to get croissants and they were delicious. We would definitely buy them again! Very authentic European.
Kevin Jones
Incredibly good pastries, pies, cakes and cookies in a French-style cafe. Well-made coffee drinks and reasonable prices.
Sachin Thakur
Hot and cold beverages both were good.
Lots of great options for pastries. Located in downtown and walkable to lots of attractions.
Celia Castaldo
yummy and high quality cakes, coffee and desserts! quiet & tranquil atmosphere with surprisingly affordable desserts. friendly staff. all around great, absolutely recommend!
edit: I took a vegan (and gluten free I believe) chocolate cupcake to go and it was one of the best cupcakes I've ever had!

If you're gluten free look no further for the best confectionaries & treats in Asheville. Always fresh and homemade, and an exceptional collection of cookies, cheesecake, black forest cake, macaroons, and more. This picture is some delicious GF carrot cake. Hands down the best GF dessert place in downtown & possibly the entire city of Asheville. #GlutenCareFree
Christina Adams
This has by far been my favorite coffee shop. They are always fast with service and so friendly and happy staff. Anytime we are in town, we visit this shop.
Matthew King
Fun, tiny shop tucked into a hole in the wall. The pastry selection is very exciting as well as delicious. The seating area is a thin corridor which is great for grabbing coffee with close friends or a romantic date. The whole place as a warm glow and a very cozy vibe. Just don't expect much room to spread out.
Praveen `K
It's in a little hiding spot. But it's a place I recommend to my friends to visit. Those pastries blew my mind, waited in the cold for like 15 minutes but worth it.
Kris Wilson
Our company worked on a project for Old Europe recently and the owner brought our team some pastries...they were amazing! Thank you from the A-American Electric Team!
piscesboy76
What a delightful indulging treat! Chocolate Godiva cheesecake and a strawberry mousse cake. Certainly has that late night European Cafe feel. That old-world feel. Light music in the background, and slight banter with it's customers. Stumbled across this place by chance, and will definitely return in the future. Asheville is full of Hidden Treasures.
Jordan Morrell
Adorable little shop with amazing staff! Love love LOVED the food. Tastes homemade and absolutely delicious.
TJ
A lovely place to grab a late night treat when your sweet tooth strikes. I’m not GF, but they have a decent number of gluten free options. I tried the lemon Bavarian, which is GF, and it was very tasty!
Kayla Christopher
We actually used them for our gluten free wedding cake. Wonderful experience, amazing taste testing (even during Covid), and perfect wedding cake. We drove 1.5 hours one way for this as the bride and groom the day before our wedding if that tells you how amazing these people are!
R Jimenez
Coffee and hot chocolate were good. The banana bread was moist. A little pricey but very yummy. We sat outside in the evening and it’s a perfect little spot to people watch. Nice atmosphere.
Payton Creech
Got a slice of German Chocolate cake and Chocolate Peanut Butter cake. Both were decadent! Line was long but it moved fast thanks to fast and friendly service. Would come back again!
Janyne Kizer
We've always enjoyed the pastries and coffee. We particularly like the coconut cream cake. The black forest cake is no ouch either. The staff is very pleasant.
Mike Vecc
Delicious. Great variety. Fresh. Not more can be said. We had the eclair, vanilla cheese cake, rainbow macaroons, and a lemon pastry, the name of which eludes me at this time.
ia par
Spot-on Italian espresso. Excellent capuchino coffee . Very flavored and light pastries. Truly authentic European pastry and coffee.
Harmonie Williams
the best experience! love everything they offer and the staff is delightful! they’ll help offer options for the little ones and everything
Shameer Zahid
Had some of their pastries delivered and we loved every single one of them!
David Perrett
Amazing place! We wanted a European breakfast while in town and OEP fit the bill. Pastries we fresh a tasty and the drip coffee and Chai were the best we’ve had in Asheville. We’ll be back!
Brittney Robertson
Worth the long line! The coffee was really good. The croissant and macaroons also were 10/10. Highly recommend 😃👍 …
Jason Amond
Great place for coffee and pastries! Please add Espresso Freddo to your menu 🙏 …
Jennifer George
Old Europe Pastries catered our wedding desserts! My husband and his family are originally from Hungary, so we KNEW we had to utilize OE as our bakery! Their pastries and desserts are phenomenal! They swooped in last minute after another bakery fell through, and did such a great job! We heard nothing but praises from all of our family and friends, specifically about the strawberry mousse cake and the coconut creme! We also had a variety of macarons and mini linzer cookies that looked amazing as decor pieces on our table (and tasted amazing! The macarons were the first things gone!)! I cannot recommend OE enough! Whether for catering an event or to simply swing by for a cup of coffee and 1 dessert (good luck on selecting just 1!), they do such an awesome job!

OE provided our wedding cake and it was STUNNING!! It was also delicious and there was hardly any left. SO SO GOOD!!
Pat Martinez
You’ll definitely be able to satisfy your sweet tooth here. We had the most delicious eclairs and cannolis, I could’ve easily had an entire box of them! They also make their lattes to perfection. The seating is limited.
Tara
So wonderful we went two times to get pastries 🍰 on our trip to Asheville. If I lived here it would be a huge problem...lol. Great selection and make sure you grab some macarons. Just amazing! This place is a gem and you can understand why they have a line out the door. …

Coffee was good along with the other drinks we ordered. Pastries were ok. Had the fruit tart and lemom Bavarian and macaroons. Would def go back for coffee. Not so much for the pastries.
C. William Genest
Not Paris, London, Rome or anywhere else I’ve been have I seen better gluten-free options and believe me I’ve looked. Amazing.
William King
The ultimate destination for those with a sweet tooth but can’t have the gluten. Amazing selection and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. This place is exactly what I’ve been looking for.
Chad Hughes
The coffee is the best! Very smooth wish I would've bought some to take home. Next time I guess. The macaroons are very good I would say just get an assortment of those. Very soft & lots of flavor. A little pricey but it's so good you won't feel bad about it.
Stalker Island
When you have sensitivity to wheat finding a place like this is like hitting the lottery. The second I walked in there I knew I had a problem because there were so many choices. I was very excited to pick the peanut butter chocolate cake and my person loved the lemon cake. We also got a double chocolate, no flour cake and that was amazing. I can't remember its name but it was a square or a rectangle shape with just chocolate all over it and chocolate in the middle. It was dense and wonderful. Highly recommend that. They were so Good to us and helped us. It wasn't busy but later in the day we saw a line around the building almost lol. It's a small place so there might be a line. I guess. We got lucky though. I can't wait to come back and visit because there were so many other things I want to try. Awesomeness.

Best ice mocha I've had. Most of the pastry is gluten free and you would never know it. Better than pastry I've had in Europe. Bravo!!!
Azoraa Tre'lok
Interesting little place downtown that is open later than most cafe in the area. I liked the pastry - the coffee not so much. This is not a place to come if you are on a low budget. Also, a couple of additional seats are outside if you don't mind wobbly table in a sidewalk that is up against the wall.
Robert Ethridge
Old Europe is in my top 5 favorite places in downtown Asheville. I have always had amazing customer service, especially when the owner is behind the counter. Desserts and pastries are amazing! I mean absolutely amazing.
Nena Theis
Old Europe Pastries was the perfect addition to our trip to Asheville!! The desserts were SO AMAZING. The Rigo and Black Diamond are fantastic if you like rich or dark chocolate, and their coffee was some of the best I've ever had. We included this as one of our stops for a Bachelorette Party and the staff made this an unforgettable experience for our bride! This is a MUST STOP if you're in town!!
Derik Roberts
Spent the last few nights in Asheville and we all LOVED this spot. We tried the key lime pie, several macaron flavors (pink lemonade was my favorite), classic cheesecake, Black Forest cake, lemon Bavarian, Turo Berry Tort, and the vegan sugar cookie among our group of 7 and it was all incredible. There are so many great restaurants and dessert spots in Asheville but so far this one is my fav! The customer service was also top notch friendly, accommodating, and helpful. We got lucky and didn’t have a long line but it backed up quickly behind us as it’s a popular spot. Not a lot of seating outside so plan to bring it with you to eat somewhere else or walk a bit to find a bench. 10/10 would recommend! Go here vs. the other dessert/chocolate places downtown. Menu has incredible variety, I wish we had time to try 7 more things!
Lucy S.
I had THE BEST oatmilk latte. It was piping hot. No sweetener. Just a delicious cup of coffee. We also got some vegan chocolate chip cookies that were also delicious. Other pastries looked amazing. Well worth the wait!! Well worth it!!!
Ella Swenson
Best gluten free pastries ever! The staff is lovely!!
Mariah Beem
Incredible pastries! The staff was lovely as well and very knowledgeable. I'll be happy to frequent this place, for sure.
Matt Olsen
Best eclair I’ve ever had! But every time I go back to get one they’re sold out… 😭 Better go early! …
Yeshanth Jayakumar
Tired of French Broad Chocolate Lounge ... then here is where you come :). Cozy indoors. Definitley a place to bring your date for a sweet talk :).
We had four desserts on our first visit. Expresso Roulade, Chocolate Mouse, Chocolate Souffle. Marzipan Square and Eclair. Expresso Roulade lacked the strong taste of coffee that were expecting. Eclair was a complete disappointment. It is more like a lame attempt on french cream puff. Marzipan square has a subtle almond taste to it(if you can spot it). Chocolate souffle was a best of the lot. It was soft, rich and creamy.
We picked their cheesecake as our late night snack. The cheesecake was good but not so great to rave about. To sum it up, in my opinion, I felt the desserts lacked the killer taste punch that I came to expect.
Cozy interiors, good desserts(choose wisely) and affordable prices.
Eric
Solid cakes. Personally sampled tiramisu, key lime espresso roulade, lemon bavarian, strawberry and carrot. Espresso coffee was good. Caffe latte and cortado sampled. Excellent service.
Cortney Hutmacher
They have SO many gluten free options, I nearly squealed with excitement and had to try to stop myself from ordering one of EVERYTHING!!! The carrot cake was delicious, even my boyfriend said he would eat it again and he doesn't have any allergies!! A++++
I will be back every time we are in Asheville!
Emily Gasner
I completely appreciate the gluten free effort, but honestly, we ordered 5 different desserts and all 5 of us didnt really like any of them. The chocolate cupcake crumbled apart when we tried to cut it, and the other cakes were all just too dry and just disappointing tasting. I had high hopes!
Morgan Soja
Had a great experience. I have Celiac Disease and the staff there made sure to let me know that there was a chance for cross contamination as the kitchen is small. But, I still ate a gluten free item anyway. It was heavenly! It's been so long since I ate a delicious gluten free item I didn't have to make myself. My friend had the tiramisu (the gluten full version) and was so pleased. I will definitely come back here again when I am in Asheville.
Gaybriell Phillips
This was actually my favorite place to get coffee during our stay! They are the only coffee shop that stays open so late which I am thankful for 😂 the staff was really cool, also be sure to try the hazelnut napoleon! …
Mina Myoi
I ordered cold brew with chocolate. It tasted like mocha, and I enjoyed it. They seemed to have wonderful selection of cakes and macarons.
Sara Edge
These desserts are so delicious and decadent. We got a lemon blueberry cupcakes and a slice of vanilla cheesecake. So super yummy I can't even put it into words. The service was great! The ladies behind the counter were awesome and patient. Kudos to this amazing place!
Bone Tactical
Good quality pastries. Incredible selection. Decent price and service.
Fluff Dapoof
Delicious pastries. It was a busy place but the staff was very friendly. Not a lot of tables but very cute decor.
Dustin Moore
This place is incredible! Do not be dissuaded by the line. They got this busy by reputation and quality! This is an institution of Asheville and you HAVE to try it!
B Green
Some really good baked goods here. I had to remove a star becauseI am a huge bread pudding fan and did not really like there version much at all. Its a small place and only allowing 1 guest/party in at a time and making everyone else wait in the cold kinda sucked too, especially when the girl in front of us had a bladder mouth and showed no consideration for other patrons. Delicious delicacies overall though.
David B
We ordered via GrubHub before their opening. They seemed “miffed” about the number of people in the business for some reason even though there was plenty of room.
The Banana Bread and Lemon Poppy Seed bread was a bit on the dry side. I am fairly certain we ordered two large coffees but only received 1.
The Cheese Croissant was very good (despite not being what we expected). We expected a croissant with cheddar cheese within the bread but it is more like a cheese kolache. Sweet instead of savory and definitely something to try for non-southerners.
Christina Willis
I stopped by on Christmas Eve to pick up a few pastries, just for myself. Yes, I did say "a few" and "for myself" in one sentence. I love dessert!
This was the fist time I've even been to Old Europe Pastries. The line was outside as they don't allow more than one customer in. I waited about 15 minutes for my turn while peeking through the window debating how many and which pastries to buy. The prices were displayed, but when I checked out 3 desserts every pastry somehow cost more. I realized it only after I left the store. No, it was not tax as it was added after on the receipt. The difference was about 25 cents per pastry. A bit disappointing that the prices were not what was on the sticker.
I was really looking forward to highly rated tiramisu, but was quite disappointed. It was too dry. I've tried dozens of tiramisu from all over the country, and this one was just lacking something. On the other hand, their hazelnut pastry (cake-like) was fantastic! Sweet, but not overly sweet, and with a distinct flavor of hazelnuts. Absolutely delicious. Another cake I bought was a chocolate double layer cake which did not impress me one bit - the butter flavor was too prominent.
Overall, I will come back to try their other desserts, and hope that they will continue making their hazelnut heaven.
Kenneth Jordan
I'm not much of a coffee person, but between my daughter and friends, I've been to so many coffee shops in the Asheville area and when it comes to flavor of drinks and pastries, I think this is my favorite. The Iced Chai (which is often my go to drink at most coffee shops) is my favorite of all the places I've had it. Its very strong with cinnamon which I love. My daughter wasn't crazy about it, but that's fine.
lionel polanski
I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I love this place so much. I live in Johnson City and try to visit Asheville every two weeks or so. Old Europe is one of two mandatory stops. Caramel machiatto is my go-to drink and the hazelnut napolean is out of this world! I also love the tiramisu and good luck getting the french creamy before it sells out! Definitely recommended and if there's a line, it's worth the wait!
Donna Crocker
Beautiful pastries that look so French and delectable. The amount croissant was delicious and it’s quality really was first class. The staff was friendly and professional.
My only knock is they have 2 tables outside but no chairs so this really is a take away situation. It didn’t stop us but we did wait to purchase coffee where we could sit down.
Debbie Henry
Treat yourself to a pastry and coffee at Old Europe Pastries. You won't be disappointed.
Sharman Johnson
The quiche and veggie croissant were delicious!
We tried the oatmeal raisin and the chocolate chip gluten free cookies. Both were delicious!
The iced mocha with oat milk was rich and chocolatey. The very pleasant person behind the counter ‘tossed in’ a berry dessert because we had inadvertently ordered items that weren’t gluten free.
Lauren Garcia
I had the espresso roulade and it was exceptional. One of the best desserts I’ve ever had. The chai tea was amazing, and the customer service was wonderful. The girl who helped us didn’t rush despite there being a long line behind us, took the time to explain the dairy free options, and was extremely warm and friendly. Amazing experience overall!
Ella Cantrell
Awesome coffee & pastries! I had a latte made with oatmilk and white chocolate and a black diamond pastry (chocolate sponge cake dipped in chocolate ganache...). Incredible (and gluten-free)!! So many delicious pastries, plenty of gluten-free and vegan options, and friendly staff.
Tu Gray
A good handful of selection of pastries. It’s not the best dessert I’ve had. But I was impressed by all the gluten free selections. If you like pastries, definitely stop by.
Bonnie Smith
Good coffee and pastries, but you'll want to go early. On site dining is currently closed and they allow one group in the door at a time to order. You will be given your pastry orders inside but will wait by window on the side walk for any drink orders so they can keep allowing people inside to order.
Rebekah Fox
Out of this world gluten free desserts!! By variety and taste!
Courtney Cole
The desserts and pastries here taste ok but not as good as I thought they were going to be so I was a little disappointed. I got the carrot cake, lemon bavarian, and the french creamy which were alright tasting but the coconut creme cake was not good at all.
Erin Will
We enjoyed the croissants for breakfast. I had the coffee special for the day- mocha lavender. It was very well made! I would definitely go back
Kevin Smith
Always fresh and delicious. Hotel construction across the street is done, so there's not many places with better street side seating. Highly recommended!
RaeLeigh Burneisen
Love this place 🖤 great coffee and yummy treats!! Been going here for 9 years and am never disappointed! …
Stephen Fuhrmann
Breakfast desserts were delicious. We were even able to score some day old cinnamon rolls at an unbelievable low price that were amazing! If visiting Asheville and want a quick grab and go sweet breakfast or dessert, look no further!
Linzee Mooty
I haven’t tried the desserts yet, but the cashier we dealt with was incredibly kind and helpful in making choices! They have TONS of gluten free options!
Maggie Cutsail
There is always a line- don’t be put off by it! It’s a very small store with only room for one customer/family at a time.
Pros: there are a lot of gluten free options, and it’s definitely less sugary dessert compared to American dessert, which is great. Lots of options in general, and all very appealing. Customer service at counter, staff was super friendly!
Neutral: Prices- one piece of peanut butter mousse cake and rigo…something chocolate (gluten free), cost us $11 and some change.
Cons: the line does go slowly if people are taking too much time deciding- and they are allowed however much time they need. We personally were in and out in 3 minutes. Honestly, we (my husband and I) feel the desserts didn’t live up to the hype. It all is super visually appealing, but neither of us finished what we got. It was just ok.
I wish I could give 3.5 stars.
J. A.
Worth it. If you love pastries and sweet stuff then junk out on this place. Small shop but very high quality cake.
James Fletcher
Good desserts... Weird layout, miss the old place and being able to sit...
Pier Carlo Talenti
Oh my, I'm really hard to please when it comes to croissants, but the chocolate croissant I just got there was superb, the dough that perfect flaky but also hearty consistency that is hard to get outside of France. And my latte was outstanding as well! Totally worth the wait in line.
Smita Patel
Visited Asheville and went to Old Europe with the suggestion of a friend. I have to say I was blown away!!! Being GF/DF I was amazed at all the GF/DF options available. Equal amounts of regular dessert for all you dessert lovers! I ordered the double chocolate almond cookie (GF) and the fig and oat bar (GF/DF). Both were absolutely amazing. I never felt it was missing the goodness of traditional desserts.
Thank you, Old Europe for providing such quality product to serve every palate and for following the Covid protocol and making us feel safe. Also, the ambiance is very cute. I look forward to enjoying my treat with a cup of Joe at the establishment next time with the hopes that everything will be “normal” by then.
Britany
Ladies had a line out of the door, serving one group at a time due to the small area and COVID procedures. As the cashier worked the register, she kept the line moving at a great pace and she also answered every single question with so much patience and information. As we had never been there and were from out of town, we had no idea what to select and left with delicious selections and our drinks were just hot enough to be enjoyed right after they handed them to us. This will be on my list of desert choices if I ever have the pleasure of returning to Asheville!
Jauffret Solignac
So, we tried a few things. First the macarons, colorful, okay taste but way too much sugar... Definitely not old Europe style. Then the cake, typical American cake, gluten free (a European cake has gluten and is not vegan) it was okay also but obviously not a great European cake. Should have read the reviews before going. It was not bad but nothing great and nothing European, I was craving for European pastries...
Sara
So many delicious GF options!!! Friendly service, tasty treats and coffee. Macarons weren't my favorite, but there are plenty of other choices.
jo alexander
We sat in line for a bit just to get in and order. There is only really room for about 2 people in there at a time which is why there is such a wait. Everything we got from there was pretty god, but I've already forgotten what we got and it's only been 2 days. Nice staff though. Worth the visit, but maybe not the wait.
Lisa Shreve
The best cake I’ve had!
Dezrae Francisco
Stopped for a quick dessert and coffee, the staff was very nice and helpful. We bought macaroons and banana nut bread which were all very delicious. My coffee was not that good, I just ordered a basic vanilla cappuccino and requested it to be on the sweeter side but it was extremely bitter and really was not sweet at all.
Ellen Krall
Amazing pasteries! The fruit tart and almond croissant were delicious. Cozy interior, definitely check it out
Brian
Always amazing. A ton of options and they all taste great.
Allyson
This shop is so cute and cozy. It is the perfect spot when you have a sweet tooth!! I was really interested in this shop because of the variety of treats they had and I was really pleased! We tried the French creamy, hazelnut Napoleon, and the strawberry mousse cake. Hazelnut Napoleon was by far the best, I HIGHLY recommend trying it. It is one of my favorite desserts now and I will be coming back for another! The French creamy was really good too, I loved the custard. The strawberry mousse cake I wasn't a fan of. Something tasted really off about it. I still 100% recommend this shop though!! We also got a caramel latte and vanilla latte and they were both delicious. The prices were very fair also. I was a little worried when I saw $$$$ on this Google page but they were normal prices in my opinion. The desserts were around $5 a slice which you would see at most restaurants if not more expensive in restaurants. The coffee was a little over $4 so no different than Starbucks. I am already looking forward to another trip here!
Andreas Bouras
Good coffee and desserts.
Gadey Sicha
Nice environment good coffee and bakery is delicious. Nice decor, clean and super nice service.
Brian v
WE stopped by this past Sunday. We purchased several different pastries. They were fantastic. My wife loved the custard we got, my daughter had the Naploean. Also had some Macron's and a peanut butter cake. Amazing will go back again...
Ruben Canlas Jr.
Great place to have dessert and good coffee.
Xochitl Koppelmeyer
Large selection of well crafted pasties..it's very hard to decide! We tried a few and they tasted good. The wait was a bit long so we got a little excited but we're not overly taken away with our selection.
JoAnn Loiodice
Stopped in to grab breakfast and ordered a flavored croissant and a latte. Croissant was absolutely delicious and the perfect texture, and coffee was made just right. Most of the coffee shops I’ve seen around Asheville mainly offered heavier American baked goods like cookies & brownies, so this place was a pleasant find. Prices were reasonable, maybe a little bit on the higher end, so if I were a local I probably couldn’t go here for my daily cuppa, but as a vacationer it was definitely a nice treat.
Danielle Coppola
Everything we had was really good, but the eclair is a must have!
Thanaphat Chananukul
There was a line for this place but it wasn't too bad. The service was good. I got the Cheese cake, Hazelnut chocolate cake, and a tiramisu. The cakes were decent and nothing really special in my opinion. I personally would not come back since it wasn't that impressive.
sanket gandhi
Awesome place and right in downtown ...... varieties of hot coffee cakes and lot more ... should try try try ... its clean and place to sit within .. on peak time it seems to be more busy and might have line
Jessica Wilder
WOW! Excellent pastries and desserts. We had the Eclair, strawberry mousse and tiramisu. All delicious. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area and have a sweet tooth. Their Italian sodas were great too.
Jenna Caristo
Old Europe Asheville has the most delicious selection of authentic Hungarian pastries! Their coffee is delicious and the staff is always friendly and efficient. I work in downtown Asheville and everyone in my shop loves Old Europe! We treat ourselves almost weekly to afternoon pick-me-ups. The Godiva Cheesecake is my personal favorite ❤️ Lots of gluten free options and vegan choices as well for those with sensitivities. The owner of the shop is a true treasure of a human as well and has an absolute heart of gold.
Caywood Yamnik
Delicious tiramisu and key lime pie!! Excellent selection too.
Michael Holliday
My Wife is not a big desert eater, but tonight she had a slice of Chocolate Cake and since I am diabetic I had Black Double Espresso, both were wonderful...
Angela Leonard
Did the 4/$10 macron. All were indistinguishable from the other except the chocolate. Other desserts by the slice were top notch- strawberry cream, vanilla cheesecake, creme brulee. Wish we'd skipped the chocolatey sponge cake, and did the eclair instead. It looked phenomenal.
Jacob Virgil
They offer a large amount of GLUTEN FREE pastries!
Genesis Sanchez
Amazing and delicious pastries!
Sahar A. Malik
Nice and generous people. good service and yummy pastries.
Love the south.
Parimal Patel
I thought this place was overrated based on the current reviews. We had the tiramisu, carrot cake and French creamy. They were all ok, but not up to the hype based on reviews.
kara bellissimo
Must stop when in Asheville. Delicious!!! Friendly service, line moves fast
Scott Wilezol
I love Old Europe Pastries! They make wonderful bakery treats.... many different kinds. The French Macaroons are especially good. The espresso is great and the cold brew is some of the best, smoothest and strongest I’ve ever had— they use a nice dark roast. Love visiting this place
Daria Sukova
The was the first place I went to when I moved to Asheville, and it was the last place I went to before moving out. It’s absolutely perfect! Everything they have is a work of art. You can’t go wrong, whatever you get. I loved their quiches, hazelnut napoleons, black diamonds, and they know how to make AMAZING almond croissants. I miss this place dearly.
Ilona Mango
Best ham and cheese croissant. We had to come back for it and I’m sure will be craving it soon. Very friendly stuff too!
Ashley Jackson
Amazing gluten free desserts! So moist and to die for! I have celiac and have often been disappointed when I have desserts but this place.. changed my mind. Absolutely DEVINE!
Kristin S
There's a reason why the line stretches around the block! Lots of hard to find treats. We got the eclair to share and it was Devine. Super fresh and homemade cream.
Alex Wagner
Very delicious desserts! We got a variety, and of course a couple of pumpkin goodies for the season; flavorful and texture was great. They were all amazing, but the hazelnut napoleon was probably the fav.
Chris Cox
We got desserts here after dinner and everything was very good. A lot of gluten free options that we appreciated.
Bill Sanborn
The server/cashiers were nice, but they let folks decide for a really long time and only one group is allowed in at a time (COVID). After a very long wait (again, I should blame the customers ahead of me), we got a good coffee and ok tiramisu. We should have tried something we don't get regularly from the greater NYC area as the food did look great.
Chip Watkins
Absolutely fantastic. 1 party at a time please. Worth the wait.
Sherri Bagwell
This place is a tiny hidden treasure. When I say tiny, mean tiny. Seating is very limited, and the line is often to the door or beyond, bit what awaits behind the counter is amazing. The coffees and tees are always delicious. The pair extremely well with the cafe's selection of decedent desserts. Napoleons, fruit tarts, French macaroons, cookies, cakes. I have never had a dessert I didn't like from here. If you're lucky enough to snag one of the 4 tables or the barstools enjoy the old European atmosphere. If you aren't so lucky, get a to go latte and a Napoleon to go. You won't regret it.
Andrea Harper
as a slightly frequent customer ( I live an hour and a half away), I highly recommend this as a must-stop whenever you visit Asheville
Every dessert I've tried is amazing. They have seasonal rotations which are some of the best desserts I've ever had. They do a good job making espresso drinks, as well
Just to be prepared, this is a very small place, so if they are busy or you have a large group of people, you'll have to take it to go. If you are lucky enough to get a table, the atmosphere is lovely.
Roger Eddins
I grew up here and Old Europe has been a staple of downtown Asheville long before other flashy places showed up. Always on point and their selection and quality is above and beyond. I still love going in and trying new things they offer up and they nail it each time. Great little breakfast stop with their quiche, OMG, it's really good! Just tried the Vegan Lemon Poppyseed bread, yum! Thanks guys for not selling out and staying true to your brand. It shows!
Southern Independant
Everything was delicious. My wife and I each had a mousse. Staff were pleasant and prices were reasonable. Covid regs has pushed the line outside and it was raining a bit but it was till a good experience.
Don Vort
The ambiance of this place is the perfect blend of meeting with a group of friends, having a first date, and even coming out for some public alone time. The coffee was fantastic, the music was unobtrusive, but kept the place emitting an active feel.
I did not have a chance at this visit to sample the desserts, just the coffee which was superb. I will definitely come back. Hopefully I'll see you there.
Margaret MacLeod Blackwell
This is the best coffee shop ever! It is a tiny space but the drinks are amazing. The desserts, I could not say enough good things about them! They are tasty and have many gluten free options. Gluten free has never tasted so good. I will save up all my cheat days and use it to eat desert here. It is worth waiting for!!!
Michael Miner
Very friendly staff ! Amazing treats ! It’s very good and highly recommended. Their blueberry muffins and cakes are delicious 🤤 …
Bob Groff
Friendly people, lots of great treats, many gluten free and some vegan, all made on site. Worth the visit.
M J
Dessert was fantastic but I can't say as much for their cold brew coffee.
Zubair Khan
Good choices of very nice pastry and coffee all while being open late. I tried the triple berry cake and it was delicious, no indoor seating however
Jessica K
Yummy pastries and huge selection. We tried the tiramisu, eclair, macarons, and strawberry cake. Everything was delicious. Only one party allowed in the store, so there was a long line down the street. They ran out of a few items we wanted, so I would go early if you want their full selection of pastries.
Nathan & Amanda Davis
Loved our drinks and desserts!! The pumpkin cheesecake was the best we’ve ever had. Also loved the Rigo Jancsi chocolate torte. Friendly service and an amazing selection of treats - definitely worth waiting in the line on the sidewalk!
Josh Barfield
Great desserts. Sub-par coffee the two times we ordered while visiting. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Expect a short wait during Covid - small area inside and one party at a time. Order ahead and pickup!
Whitney Conley
My favorite place to get coffee! The coffee and pastries are delicious and it really feels like you are in a small European cafe!!
Joseph Herring
Cute little place. Prices are cheaper than some restaurant desserts. My wife had the cream brulee and I had the Expresso roll. Hardest part was deciding what to get.
John Moody
Great selection of European-style pastries and confectionaries. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The spinach and feta quiche made an awesome breakfast along with delicious coffees.
Umesh Shah
Incredible gluten free desserts. We indulged twice and gorged on amazing treats. They’re open from 7am-10pm so you have plenty of time to get the goodies.
Danielle Sheldon
DELICIOUS treats for every palate, and open late. Lots of gluten free options for celiacs. We always stop here when in Asheville.
Adam Friddle
Pretty legit bakery the stuff was not great but was definitely okay
Eric Moore
Absolutely the best pastries anywhere! We make it our first stop every time we are in Asheville. The owner and staff are simply the best! Don’t let the long lines scare you off because it’s worth the wait!
Marissa Wharton
Tiny place (only one party can be inside at a time to order) but really great pastries! A tad overpriced in my opinion, but I really enjoyed my poppy seed bread and date bar.
Andrey Tyshchenko
I left my heart (stomach) there. Coffee is good, but you don't come there for coffee. Coffee is simply an add-on for the incredibly tasty cakes they sell. Hazelnut napoleon was above and beyond. It is truly European style pastries that are worth the drive no matter where you are from.
G N
My vanilla cheesecake was crazy good. My wife didn't really like her choice. She thought it tasted like a chocolate dessert cake from a Chinese buffet. She was right. I must say again that mine was silly delicious.
There's a ton of gluten-free options.
Dalton Janssen
Fantastic place! Got some great coffee, pastries, quiche, and macaroons from here for our breakfast and loved every bit of it!
Randy
Extremely delicious pastries. Considering I've had some top notch pastries in Europe, I have to say these hold very close and my wife is strung out on this place. It's turned into a weekly visit
Irene Adler
Ordered carrot cake at end of day; it was fresh and tasty, very good. Pieces were two different sizes. Also ordered chocolate chip cookies. The picture showed 2 cookies, so we thought for 2.75 we were getting 2 cookies; only one arrived. We looked back at the menu and noticed that the photo showed 2 cookies, but the verbage said "cookie." Beware! Also, we ordered an oatmeal bar, which did not come; wish they had called us to choose a replacement if they were out. Otherwise, carrot cake was great, single cookie was just average. Would order again. Packaging was not great; chocolate chip cookie was thrown in the box with the carrot cake, which necessitated a piece of tissue to separate them, which meant the tissue stuck to the frosting of the cake and took part of it off, would have rather have had them packaged separately.
Keith Jackson
Cool hipster place to get pastries and coffee. The espresso is pretty good. We didn't try the pastries, but they looked amazing, and are all made in house. The line was pretty long, and not much set this place apart from the other coffee shops, but it's worth a visit. Would go again.
Erica Donnellan
Amazing pastries and a wonderful selection of gluten free ítems! However, I wish they’d include those who actually need to eat gluten free, not just a preference. These are unsafe for celiacs, wheat allergy, or those with a severe gluten intolerance. They are stored in the same case, sometimes even sharing a plate with gluten items. When I inquired about their cross contact efforts while baking their products, their procedures seemed to be lacking. I hope they put in a little effort to work this out because they have the best gf cake I’ve ever tasted!
Charlotte Leitch Jones
We visited when we were leaving town and I wish we'd gone earlier. The pastries were all fabulous, staff was super friendly, and pricing was very fair. We will be back next time we're in Asheville.
RL Curtis
Love their vegan cupcakes and macaroons! Or is it macarons? Either way, all the desserts here are great!
Tyler Raffety
Fantastic coffee shop located centrally in Asheville. The coffee is amazing and they have a great variety of items. I would highly suggest trying the macaroons and ham and cheese crossiants. Wonderful place; will be going back again next time i’m in Asheville. Highly recommend
Wesley Espinoza
The staff was friendly. The Italian sodas we're good. The pastries looked amazing, sadly the taste did not deliver. I feel like they we're missing that sweet taste. They seem to be lacking on either sugar, vanilla, or the major ingredient of the dish. It was good, but kind of bland. Flavor was soley in the fruit and not in the cake or whipped cream topping. They are close to delivering excellent dishes, but they need to make adjustments to their cake and whipped toppings.
Trey Baker
Oh you've got to stop by this place. If you have a sweet tooth and are in the Ashville region, THIS is the place to go. My wife and I come up to Ashville a few times a year and we always make a stop (or two) at Old Europe. My wife loves the selection of macaroons, and I try something new each time. Never been disappointed :)
Amy
Offer oat, almond, and soy milk non dairy options. Good number of vegan and gluten free pastry options. Pricey though - $12.00 for a 16 oz oat milk cappuccino and a piece of lemon poppyseed bread. But they were tasty!
Benjamin Hacman
Came here for a latte and a pastry. The latte tasted great and strong, but I added some sugar because I like it sweet, they have a lot of pastries to choose from! I'm a sucker for carrot cake so I went for it and it was delicious! Staff was friendly and prices were reasonable!
Jesse Locklear
Coffee was good, quiche was excellent, and Tiramisu was decadent!!
Viviana Hermosilla Aguayo
Delicious! Great coffee and pastries! The only caveat is that you can only order to go.
Dave Moore
OMG it's a good thing I don't live close to this delicious bakery. YUM!!
Jeremy Griffin
Wife and I visited Old Europe last year and are coming back next weekend, our very first stop for coffee will be to Old Europe. Great vibe, terrific baristas, and smooth lattes. Those pies too, my goodness they're amazing! Can't wait to be back next weekend!!
Hyland Gresham
My wife and I frequent this establishment and live it. Large flavorful selection of pastries and cakes. Large selection of coffees, I love the iced coffees with extra espresso. The only downside to this restaurant is it has very limited seating. If you don't mind a crowd I highly recommend trying this place, one if the best coffee houses in Asheville.
Jamie Harrington
I've been a fan if this place since high school, at all of their locations, & it was lovely to come back with a dear friend for dinne girl talk. I got their Lemon Bavarian, which was delicious; but my friend let me try their French Creamy she got & I see why they're known for that dessert . . . tasting that is a divine, spiritual experience that deserves SEVERAL moments of silence to fully relish its deliciousness!! My birthday is next month, I know what I want as my "cake".
Also, the Lavender Iced Latte I had was equally delightful. Honestly, there isn't a bad thing here, except an empty plate & cup, & there are so many other treats I wanted to try. Check them out if you're in #AVL, you won't regret it!
Erica Cousins
I come here every year for my birthday dessert: Godiva cheesecake and a mocha. It's a cute little shop with delicious desserts and coffee. If you can get a seat, the nook seating makes you feel like you have the place to yourself, but it is often difficult to get any seat.
Leonie Hoffman
Great selection. Lots of gluten free options
Walxav M
The quality of the bread was fantastic. You could taste the love on every bite. The cashier was very helpful, polite, and knowledgeable. The place itself it's a bit cramped so I don't recommend it for big parties, but its definitely a threat you should take during your day if you stop by Ashville.
Carlyle Button
Delicious coffee and the best pastries I've ever had. This is always a must have when I'm in town. Highly recommend!!
Erin Moore
You cannot make a bad choice here. If there's a line out front, do not fret, because it moves quickly and it's worth the wait. The staff makes great recommendations, but you can't go wrong here. You can try, but you can't. Your only regret here is that you can't get this quality in your hometown.
Beth Rasche
Cute little pastries. The carrot cake and coconut cake were delicious!
Fast and friendly service
Chad Zizelman
My God. The drinks and pastries were nuts here. Paired with amazing service. Highly recommend!
Steven Applegate
Best cakes and pastries I’ve had
Emma Davis
The coffee was cold. The tiramisu cake was dry, but had good flavor. The specialty French dessert with puff pastry was not flaky and it lacked flavor. I would give it 2.5 stars but was not able to give a half star.
Stowe Berlin
I think what I had was called coconut cream cake and it was very good. Key lime pie was also good. The portions are just a little small for the price. Still a good treat yourself desert.
alan rambel
Consistently outstanding pastries regardless of their location, this is the third one I know about since moving to Asheville 23 years ago. Make it a point to visit while you're here.
Lewis Blackburn
When I lived in Asheville I got my coffee Gere every morning before work, had to make a pit stop last time I was close to Asheville just to stop by here and get some coffee and goodies, I would give this place 100 stars if I could.
Sadie Lundy
Everything was delicious!
Kerry Pitt-Hart
Oh my gosh. I have had a lot of pastries in my time and these were some of the best. I got the last Espresso Roulade and it was divine!
Eric Buckner
Very pleasant baristas, old world decor and feel, and a top notch selection of delicious pastries.
Kiara Estrada
Ambiance is nice and so are the pastries. Not so nice is the price..
Eddie Hoss
My, oh my. This is, hands down, the best place for an after dinner treat and coffee/espresso. We found this neat little place by simply walking around downtown. They are central to all of downtown, but it's one of those quaint and small ''hole-in-the-wall' locations that is easy to overlook. We took a chance and man were we right! We've been in several times and tried different desserts (French Creamy, Tiramisu, Napoleons...) and espresso. The bitter coffee complements the sweet treats! Do yourself a favor and go here...TODAY!
P G Adrian
I have traveled widely and have years of experience. From all of that, I have a mental list of my most favorite places, people, experiences. This place is on my short list. Even just looking at the display case, is comparable to a visiting a fine art gallery. To have coffee and a pastry there, is a complete sensual indulgence one should not miss. When friends visit me from out of town, I always take them here.
greysonxx
This place is one of my favorite places to go when looking for an evening coffee & dessert. The coffee is great & the cakes, pastries, cookies, pies etc. are some of the most delicious you'll find in Asheville. The people that work there have always been very knowledgeable about their menu & really nice. The inside seating is very limited so if you can find a seat, it's a great place to sit down with your spouse or a friend & hide from the rest of the world while indulging in a sweet dessert & getting caffeinated!
Synergy
Delicious!! Not overly sweetened like most places.
Courtney Smith
Best chai latte downtown ☕️! I stopped in here for a “un petit repas” and when I saw the coconut cream cake I couldn’t resist 😍 the cake was a little dry but the sweet cream frosting more than made up for it 🍰. The chai latte was sooooo good with the perfect amount of cinnamon on top 💝 I love how cozy it is inside too, I found a cozy nook by the window and had a nice afternoon reading, people watching, and sipping chai 💖.The ambiance and decor is perfect with the drinks and pastries 🍰☕️.
Lydia Holcomb
Latte was perfectly adequate. The barista seemed put out to have to make 3 lattes in a row when my friends and I ordered and left a lot to be desired as far as customer service goes. I never leave bad reviews for places because I realize that sometimes you have an off day but she really ruined the experience there for us. Definitely won’t be back :(
Ines Rios
Gluten free options, everything looks and tastes great. The place is small and cozy.
J Terauchi
This is the best coffee & dessert location in Asheville. (I also like the chocolate lounge however their products are much too rich, so if you like a lot of sweet, go there too!) Someone posted a bad review about steaks.... They don't serve steaks so I think the review is of the wrong place... I love the staff, it is quaint, open late, great selection and genuine espresso drinks... Not like Starbucks :D
Jason Elliott
Stopped by on our way back home for a last treat. Needed some gluten free options. Carrot cake and a chocolate something or other. Both were really good. Only reason for 4 stars two pieces of cake set me back over 13 bucks.
jane allred
I have been coming here since I was a teenager, and it is still my favorite place in downtown Asheville! Their cheesy, savory croissant has become my breakfast almost every morning!
My partner is vegan, and we have a hard time finding sweets for him that aren't bland or expensive. OLD EUROPE HAS THE BEST VEGAN SWEETS IN TOWN!!!! the lemon pound cake, cookies, and cupcakes are all melt-in-your-mouth amazing. Not to mention the entire staff is always so nice, no matter how busy they are, especially during covid. I love you, Old Europe!!!
starry1219 R
Wide variety of delicious pastries and coffee!
Bruce Johnson
I had a cappuccino and their blueberry bread pudding recently, and both were excellent. The ambience here was perfect. When we sat down after ordering, my wife revealed that she had meant to order a latte instead of espresso. I went back up to the counter to order her a latte, and the barista offered to make it for free.
James
Delicious hot chocolate and coffee in a very quaint setting! It was the perfect stop for a chilly night, and the prices were very reasonable for a downtown local coffee shop. Not a lot of seating space or room for reading/laptop work, so expect a more casual experience.
Niel Hugo
Definitely one of our favorite spots! Best coffee, desserts downtown and the staff has always being very friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable and quality is definitely worth the pricing. Go check them out
Kyle Amerman
Didn't try any pastries but the coffee was great. Staff were very friendly and engaging. Small but comfortable space... Will be back to try the desserts, they looked wonderful.
A Pres
Friendly service, delicious treats, and open late!
John Schenk
Best pastries I have ever had. The Napoleon I had was astounding. The location is small, but well put together. Has a European feel to it. The staff was friendly and helpful. Tons of options for pastries.
TaVida Rice
Absolutely wonderful. Their Quiche was delish. I also tried their macaroons and chi latte with almond milk. Both yum !!
Russell Williams
Been here two times trying four different desserts and all were amazing! Super friendly staff and great prices! Also super happy they are open late until 11pm for the late night sweet! Will become a must stop on every trip to Asheville!
Jaime Goodman
Charming. One of a kind. Old Europe is perfect! Their house-brewed chai has just the right blend of spice and sweet. The pastries don't send the consumer into diabetic shock like most American pastries. The stuffed croissants are a light meal all on their own. Just delightful! Everything delicious!
Rafael Santos
My wife and I were visiting for the week from Charlotte and we stopped here to try a few of their pastries and macaroons. Everything tasted so good. We were well treated as customers and the cafe had a very quaint and welcoming feel. We'll make sure to come back next time we're in Asheville.
Amy
I send my children here when I must take them to my office. Their pastries are amazing and always a gluten free options. They are kind to my children and I always score points sending them here!
Susan Bozeman
I can't believe I've lived in Asheville for years and didn't know about this place until this week. The two slices of cake I purchased were divine! I plan to return very soon to start checking off many more wonderful selections.
Leanne Coffin
Great variety even at 11pm at night. Gluten free and vegan options. Small quaint place. Some outdoor seating on the sidewalk and some intimate tables inside. Cheesecake and Chocolate truffle cake was DELICIOUS!
Kristy Perry
Excellent desserts! Stop here for after dinner desserts rather than the restaurants. Everything, especially the macrons, were much better and fresher than French Broad. The customer service was top notch too!
Audrey Reynolds
So glad we found this little place! The Hazelnut Napoleon was superb! The crust was as light and flaky as any crust I’ve ever had. My friend got the creme brûlée (she often gets that wherever we go) and she said it was the best she had ever had!
John Lewis
Okay coffee. Large selection of pastries.
Jason Baker
A small variety as far as pastry shops go...
...but the largest variety in Asheville.
The $2 chocolate chip cookie was one of the best I've ever had, the tiramisu was excellent, the cheesecake was good, the croissant, though not traditional, was very yeasty and tasty and the quiche had perfect flaky crust.
Some of their items here have a unique non traditional twist. I was hoping for more traditional Italian and French pastries like a Napoleon...my favorite pastry and IMO perfect...but they have some kind of variation I was not interested in trying...you can't improve on perfect. All in all, my visit here was satisfactory and everything I tried was good.
Charlie Jaynes
Small with limited seating, delicious deserts and crafted coffees make this place a pleasant stop on any downtown shopping trip although it's OK to make a trip to town just for these deserts! Feel free to glare at the loungers with their laptops.
Bo Downey
You wouldn't know it but this small building in the middle of downtown asheville has some of the best deserts out there. They are defentialy pricey but a must try for tourists. There are options for everyone, the staff are quick and kind, the deserts are heavenly, and the coffee warm. Not a whole lot of in house seating but if you go on slower days you won't have trouble finding a seat.
Ray Ray
Rich flavorful coffee and creamy moist desserts. Try this place if your a coffee fanatic like me. I got a large pumpkin spice latte and tiramisu. Not too much seating but super cute inside if you can get a seat.
Raluca Liteplo
Walked into this place to get a coffee as we were visiting asheville for the first time and I got a mocha coffee with caramel to go. OMG this coffee was the best I've ever had!!! I had to come back for another one a few hours later as we were still walking around the city because I was so impressed with the coffee the first time. Sure enough second time around I wasn't disappointed either. The girls who work there are really nice and the place is so cool looking, takes me back in time to the place I used to go eat my Sunday desert at with my grandparents when I was a kid. I grew up in Eastern Europe ;) I'm having desert next time I go there for sure!
Billy Peterson
An amazing place to go to for dessert! There's always a line out the door for the place.
Sam Losew
Amazing handmade pastries, artfully delivered hot chocolate, and wonderful coffee! What more could you ask for? We will definitely be returning every time we come to Asheville. The eclairs are made fresh everyday and are worth the drive from anywhere!
Myrtle Vaughn
I stop in here every time I'm in Asheville. The coffee is fantastic, the pastries are sublime! It's so good I crave them and have even taken a special trip to Asheville just to come here, it's that good. So highly recommend!
Sidra Q
Their savory (cheese and spinach, vegetarian) croissant is out of this world. I not so secretly want the recipe! My husband and I spent a long weekend in Asheville, and came here daily for lattes and savory croissants for breakfast
Bradley Brown
Pastries, cakes and other assorted treats that go wonderfully with there coffee selection. The cozy interior and bustling exterior views take me back to my trips to Amsterdam if just for a moment. Definitely going back time and time again.
Chris Tracy
If you like gluten free stuff this is five stars. There is a disproportionately large selection of it. Coffees are great. Small, cozy place to enjoy an after dinner dessert and coffee.
Diana Nest
I really like coming to this cafe and frequent it more than any other cafe in Asheville. The pastries are mostly good and the drinks are amazing. It's a little pricey but it's worth it. The reason I have to give a three is because of the smoking. There are two tables outside and when people smoke (which they can) it all comes inside. And then you don't smell your coffee, but cigarette smoke instead. I hope they will change this soon.
William Crowe
I had a brownie cheesecake there that tasted kind of like freezer, but it was the last slice so I assume it had been sitting out for a while. My girlfriend has the French something cream whatever and it was pretty great! Overall I'd give it another shot.
Andrei Smal
Latte had perfect nutty coffee taste. Even with the pumpkin caramel it wasn't too sweet like the other places do it. And pastries are totally made like old country original.
Geddi Monroe
Awesome atmosphere though tiny, but one of the only places in Asheville open late that isn't a bar. Pretty authentic coffee and pastries, though they are super expensive. Very intimate setting and cures a sweet tooth or a caffeine need to pull an all nighter or just keep staying out late when you're sobering up to go home. Run by good people. Just know they're gonna hit your wallet. Gotta pay the rent somehow.
Brittany Roszko
Old Europe is a breath of fresh air. They have wine, the pastries are fabulous, staff is friendly and did I mention they have wine. This is my type of cafe. So glad to live in the area. Lots of gluten free options too!!
Erin Nelson Holmes
Went here after dinner once for some sweets. They had some really awesome rich cheesecake. Also came here for breakfast had great coffee drinks and breakfast items. I like the European feel and casual ambiance
Courtney Thompson
My husband and I had a late night dessert after dinner. It was a Vanilla Cream pastry and was light and delicious. Love it! We will be going back.
Bernadette Shilling
I was very glad we stumbled upon this place. It doesn’t look like much but the pastries are out of this world! Very nice staff. I was pleased with the service too. The chai latte was great as well!
Haley Hart
I like the place a lot, a bit small and has kind of a cold depressing feel, but I like the coffee and pastries. The door is always open though and the new cute male barista smokes like a chimney,as do other patrons outside. Trying to enjoy your coffee and pastries in the shop with smoke from outside being blown into the place is not an enjoyable - it causes headaches and is bad for people with asthma.
DEER CREEK PROPERTIES
Old Europe Pastries is amazing! All of the treats and coffee are wonderful! Staff are superb! A must go to when you are in the Asheville area.
Señora Amy Ortiz
Old Europe is the perfect place for a date night coffee & dessert. It’s cozy and has a nice ambiance. If you’re in town during morning week day hours, hope that Molly is working. She’s the best barista in town!
Mila Lud
Great coffee, delicious pastries...so delicious, like you close your eyes and wonder if this is just a dream delicious.
Not depresing, the guy that was working there was super nice.
And to the guy that left 1 star review for 1 bad experience after coming there for years...C'mon man, I'm sure u had 1 bad day in your life as well. Go eat more of those dreamy pastries, you need them! 😊
Dakota Haines
Amazing coffee and pastries, many of which are gluten free and delicious! Service is excellent. I make it a point to stop in every time I'm in downtown Asheville.
Gary Woods
By and far the best bakery we have ever experienced. The pastry items were exceptional and fresh along with great staff and prompt delivery as scheduled. They are now our go to bakery going forward.
Joel Chism
Pros: lot of options, nice light-med roast, lot of gluten free options, dairy free alternatives, cool setup,
Cons: bit weak coffee,
I’m a home coffee roaster and a barista been do for 4+ years.
Ryk McDorman
Still hungry from a dinner at Chai Pani, we headed here for something sweet and filling; it didn't disappoint. We grabbed a Lemon Bavarian and a Godiva cheesecake and took 'em over to One World Brewing for a beer/dessert finish to our evening. Yum, yum, yum!! If I hadn't been enjoying my beer so much, I might've headed back for second helping.
naomi hansen
My friends planned a lovely surprise visit to Old Europe for one of the stops on my bachelorette weekend. OE provided some thoughtful personalized touches to our visit and while I already had a special place in my heart for them they blew me away with the effort they put forward making sure this stop was a wonderful visit. Bobby the manager was a wonderful point of contact and we loved him as well!
Beril Ozay
Really good pastries. The Italian coffee and chai were so bitter and spicy (respectively) that I couldn't drink them. It's absurdly expensive, even for Asheville, however, the pastries are worth it at least to have eaten them once. The lemon bavarian and tiramisu were spectacular.
molotok
Great Napoleon
We came there late in the evening looking for an after-dinner desert and coffee. The pastries all looked great. We shared a Napoleon with our coffees and tasted as good as it looked
Natalya Klimova
Neat spot to get some awesome pastries. Creme brûlée was pretty good.
Nathan Clark
I really enjoyed my visit here. The small cafe and desserts reminded me of being in Germany. The pastries are so good without being overly sweet. They go great with the expresso drinks!
Julia Lewis
The best desserts I've ever had! Perfectly balanced and delicious! The creme Brule, the tiramisu, and the cheesecake were exceptional!
Kimberly Wilson
I've tried the German chocolate cake and the Godiva chocolate mousse, and both are so good. This place is such a gem.
Bradley Mejia
This place was so awesome I had the macaroons and the strawberry one was killer! I didn’t enjoy the vanilla one as much but it was still really good and I recommend everyone to give it a try!
Devin Rogers
Amazing owner, unbelievable food. The location is small and cozy, but it can be hard to get a table on weekend nights. Come on a week day or at an off hour and you will find a nice cozy spot to chat and enjoy authentic European pastries.
Alicia Peters
Amazing dessert selection. Everything we had was excellent and fresh. Get an espresso +dessert and sit at small table outside for a relaxing European treat.
Brandon Day
Absolutely lovely pastry shop in the heart of the city. Open late for night owls who want some quality pastries with some old school class. They are open, inviting, and the sweets are just amazing.
Jessica Zeckel
Hazelnut Napoleon and strawberry torte were delicious! Not a lot of seating space which was a little difficult with two kids but we managed fine.
Bob Huntley
The service, desserts, and beverages were outstanding!
Daniel Williams
Good cakes but wasnt what I was hoping for out of what I got taste wise. Flavors are pretty self explanatory from the names but I wouldn't expect coffee as a flavor in a cake labeled Godiva cheesecake (I should've asked for a description).
Dr. Bunty Desor, Th.D.
Very very good and reasonable. Love the vibe. Great pastry shop.
Cindy Wilson
I love this place. The pastries are light yet flavorful. My favorite pastries are the lemon bavarian and the French creamy. The coffee never disappoints. It is very small but I love it.
Domingo Rogers
Went here for a late morning coffee and cider. At the time the barista was training a new employee so the service was a little slow but nothing to complain about. The coffee and cider were exactly what we were looking for on the cold November day! We'll definitely visit them again when we are in Asheville!
Stephen Mullett
Legit selection and a coffee shop of note. Only downside is the line outside and 1 in 1 out policy.
Michael McCroskey
Excellent pastries with near endless choices. Especially great spot for those who find most desserts are too sweet. These folks are true culinary artists.
S Kaz
By far the best Hungarian pastries I've had the pleasure to enjoy in the United States can be consumed here. The Dobos Torta was perfect, and the Francia Kremes (custard) was better than any at the best coffee house in Hungary. Off the charts good!
Drew Crismon
This place feels like you've ducked in a small cafe in Paris. We had a great little date there over coffee and desserts. The Godiva chocolate cheesecake was incredible
Brian Barnett
Very European feeling inside; tight space, crammed seating. But that's a good thing for some establishments, and it works well here. Decent coffee and excellent pastries. I'd come back for sure.
William Carter
This establishment is the best of both worlds with all of the flavors of the small centuries old patisserie found in Europe combined with the bohemian spirit celebrated in Asheville. The Coffee is delicious and expertly crafted and the treats would make anyone come closer to extascy.
Juan Rozo
Delicious pastries here, super friendly and health responsable staff. From eclairs to tiramisus. Stop by and try them!
Preeti Waas
Excellent coffee. Knowledgeable and friendly barista. True European style pastries. I absolutely adore this place, and have been looking forward to it for our entire road trip
Meredith Moya-Mendez
Very friendly staff and pastries were amazing. Best eclaire I've had in a long time, and my latte had beautiful presentation. We will definitely be coming back!
J. Matthew Lucas
Good pastries, but I was thoroughly unimpressed with it. This is a bakery, shouldn’t the baked goods taste fresher? I don’t know how much if anything is made there, but it felt more coffee shop than bake shop.
Jo DeSante
Cute little cafe nestled smack dab in the middle of Asheville. Very much a blink and you miss it kind of place. I am so glad we dug up this gem. The pastries were incredible and the coffee equally amazing.
jmandmc Carter
Cruffin pastry and quiche were amazing! Dirty Chai was not so good - way to much chai spice that overpowered any espresso or coconut milk taste. Probably could have used 1/4 amount! Go here for the wonderful pastry choices though!
Steve L
Fantastic bakery and coffee shop tucked away on Broadway. Great friendly staff with some of the best pastries in Asheville. Delicious espresso and macaroons. The quiche is to die for!
Jon Lowder
Excellent pastries and coffee. Nice atmosphere too.
Melissa D
Good coffee and desserts. Visit every time I'm in Asheville.
Dan Tcacenco
Coffee is top quality and, frankly, puts Starbucks to shame. Small shop, and cozy atmosphere. Cons: music plays too loud, and pastries are expensive (but well worth it!)
William Carter
Loved it! It's your rural south of France pastry shop crossed with a side alley coffee shop, the dainties are well done and delicious the coffee is well made the staff is friendly and I just want to camp out in a booth all day discussing the mysteries of life the universe and everything.
Timm Watrous
Soooooo goooood! They have my favorite desserts, pastries, and coffee in town. A staple in the Asheville sweets landscape for more than 25 years. Highly recommended!
Kay Yingling
I can't say enough about this place. Pastries were delicious, tiramisu was divine and the macarons!!! The Apple Spice was PERFECT. I can't wait to come back.
Jaimie Rey
Quite small but cozy atmosphere. Serves coffee drinks, tea, and quality baked goods. May seem a little pricey if you're getting multiple treats but well worth it!
Anonymous Male
Amazing treats we had the coconut cream cake, the French creamy, the cheese cake, the hazel nut , and lemon Bavarian. Everyone of the desserts were absolutely delicious!
chaz miller
Had a great Americano and Espresso. The mood and feeling in the cafe is exactly like what I experienced in cafes throughout Paris and Rome! I highly recommend stopping in for a coffee break.
AWAD ALBOGA
Went there 7yrs ago, it was cozy and good
Now it has been renovated and still cozy and good
Definitely recommend
Brian
Stupid AMAZING! Hands down the best dessert joint I've ever been too. Amazing taste, yet doesn't leave you in a bloated, sugar coma
Alondra Cairns
Every single pastry is amazing!!! It really gives you the small European cafe feel. This is the best hole in the wall place I have ever discovered.
Brandi Tonkin
Cute cozy little coffee shop. Lots of variety of pastries. We had a cappuccino, coconut macaroon, key lime pie and a cookie. The key lime pie is the best key lime pie I've ever had...and I've had a lot in my time.
Frank Jones (Frank C Jones)
One of my favorite dessert and coffee shops in Asheville. The only problem is that some people smoke at the front enterance and the window or door are sometimes proper open, letting the smoke fill the building. On these days, I keep walking and go to World Coffee.
Erik “Bear” Reverón
The ishter pastry was wonderfully on point. Sweet, fruity, rich and went well with a my coffee. Cream cheese croissant is also not to be skipped on!
Angelica Creamer
What a wonderful pastry shop! The pumpkin cheesecake and eclair were amazing. Wish I lived closer to enjoy this place more often.
Michael T
The best after dinner spot to hit for desserts and best expresso coffee. Plus, they stay open late so you can still enjoy Asheville for all it's entertainment.
Daniel Torrelio
Slightly depressing vibe but the pastry selection has great variety. My Americano was good from start to finish and very smooth, paired well with my dutch almond. Worth the stop!
Barbara Rawson
The beautiful desserts were light and not coyingly sweet, so they made for a very nice afternoon treat. Definitely reminded me of desserts I've had in Europe.
James Dalluge
What a wonderful little gem. The eclairs, macaroons....just magical. We ended up going here twice during our trip because we loved it so much.
S J
simply amazing !! FYI it's take and go no dining in as we learned with alot of asheville food places .
Elizabeth Nguyen
Really tiny shop, but the cakes / desserts are delicious! The banana bread was a bit dry, but everything else we got was great.
Harlan Stafford
Delicious selection of fine pastries. Friendly service, reasonable prices. Well worth the stop for this unique experience.
Kyle Cooper
A must have place to go. We wanted to get just dessert somewhere, and our expectations were exceeded here. Everything is fresh, and made local. The building is small, and you may not have somewhere to sit. But don't let that stop you, as you can get it to go. Which is what we did. I don't think there is anything that you can go wrong with here.
Raymond Smith
Was unable to try this it was 12am and a line my 12 year old was tired and grumpy so next time the menu look very interesting
Chikara Hibino
Kind staff and delicious coffee and pastries.
