Finding a mechanic shop you can trust is a difficult thing. They are in the business of making money and keeping cars on the road. As vehicles age, there are a lot of things that could be done, and then there are things that HAVE to be done. I feel like the guys at Yost do a good job of walking that line and explaining the difference. I have had zero complaints or issues of repairs actually completed. I only have two minor complaints. 1 - I paid for a diagnostic fee. They did the work and that fee is very fair. I did follow that up with $1200 worth of maintenance. It would have been nice if they credited my diagnostic fee towards the repair. 2 - They billed me for 6 hours worth of work, and they were done in less than four hours. This is from when I dropped it off, to when they called me - so the actual repairs probably took less time than that. I understand every job as a "book" rate and some jobs go over and some go under. However, at $110 per hour and Yost having no problem getting customers through, it feels like the jobs that go under "book" should go back to the customer. No sandbagging either guys! ;-) Bottom line - next time my vehicle break, I'm going back to Yost first.

I have gone to Yost for after 30 years. They have never disappointed. I have entrusted them with my 2003 Honda S2000 and recommended my son to take his Lexus when another place in town did not do a complete job. Yost was clear to him what needed to be done and he was able to chose what he could do now and what had to wait. And they work with us all to get us a car to drive if our repairs are longer than a day.

I took my Subaru 2017 for new tires and wheel alignment to them after reading such good reviews, but unfortunately my experience was not so stellar :-( First of all the good things about this shop: 1- Friendly staff 2- Timely pickup and drop off service Now to the issues: 1- The new tires were over-inflated by 6-7 PSIs 2- The steering wheel was miss-aligned 3- After I got the above two issues fixed (2nd visit), I noticed visually that the front driver side tire had a positive camber. 4- Upon 3rd visit, I was told that the alignment machine was out of calibration and was just fixed. It would have been nice for them to call all the customers who had alignment done with faulty calibration. I happened to notice the positive camber, otherwise, I would have been driving a miss-aligned car without knowing. 5- Finally, I was not offered any compensation for the inconvenience of setting up appointments and taking the time to get these issues fixed. Hopefully, this review will change their customer service practices in a good way.

As always work done efficiently and quickly. Was actually my mother’s Lincoln pickup. Had been worked on at a place in Western Kansas that gave her the run around after several thousand dollars. I told her to bring it here to Yost. As usual they quickly and correctly diagnosed the problem got her up and going same day. Very reliable and professional place to have repairs done on your cars and trucks.

I have been a customer of Yost Auto for 20 years. After many disappointments using Dealer shops, a friend suggested that I try Yost. They are honest, only replace or fix what is needed on the cars or trucks that I own and their charges are reasonable. If a problem continues with the car’s performance , Yost Auto will continue to find the problem until it is fixed. Unlike dealer shops, they do not automatically do work or replacement of parts unless I authorize the additional work FIRST. They have earned my business for 20 years and I’ll continue to put my trust in their services.

I was having several issues with my car in Nebraska, and the shop I visited was going to charge me over $2000 to make one repair. So I drove all the way to Yost, where I knew my parents take their cars. Best automotive service experience ever. Good customer service in the automotive service industry is difficult to come by, but Yost surpassed my expectations. I received a very fair price on my repair and much less than a competitor's bid. I received a ride back to my home and they picked me up from my residence after the repair was completed. With a young family, this service is so helpful. Henry was very polite and provided great conversations on our car rides. The front desk manager was very helpful (Jonathon?) and they even provided a demonstration with the part that was replaced. They have gained a new customer and I will spread the good word about Yost.

I can't say enough good things about this business. Yost Auto has taken fabulous care of all of my family's vehicles for a few years now. Every time we walk through the shop's doors we are warmly greeted and treated like family. The owner, Mr. Russ Yost, is one of the nicest and most trustworthy guys you'll ever meet. A couple months ago, I wanted to buy my first car. My dad told me about one that was in great condition and a great price that Yost was selling. I LOVED everything about the manual-drive car, but I had never driven stick. Russ Yost drove me and my dad out to a country road and took time out of his day to teach me how to drive stick-shift. I couldn't believe how patient he was with me! He made it clear that there was no pressure to drive the car - he just wanted to be sure I was comfortable driving it before I bought it. How many other owners would do that for a customer? ...Take your vehicle to Yost; it'll be one of the best decisions you ever make.:)

These guys are AWESOME. I am visiting Wichita from out of state. Just days before I was to leave my car developed an issue. They got me in and got me fixed right up. They are friendly, professional, courtious and do great work. The price was right in line with what I would have paid back home for the same work. Speaking of back home, Yost Auto, in their business ethic and practices are very similar to my mechanics back home. I needed to use their shuttle service and both the drivers I had were fantastic. My experience was over the top with Yost. My air-conditioning system wasn't working and I came to them to fix it. They asked if I could keep the car there & had a driver within the company (Tory) drive me home. Such a lovely young lady. They figured out the issue & called to ask if they could replace the resistor & told me the cost of doing so. When I returned to pick up my car & pay my bill, they asked me "how does this amount sound?" Which was a total that was 10% less than the amount over the phone. Was extremely grateful! Wouldn't recommend going anywhere else but Yost. Great experience! Fast Service! Care about their customers!

Called over to Yost because our 2013 Ford Explorer was not starting, we initially thought battery and was told by Autozone that it wasn't the battery but the alternator so after a few google searches and several reviews we end up with Yost. We called and spoke to Brian, who was an amazing help, he quoted us some prices so we decided to bring the car in. From the moment we walked in every single employee was very friendly and so personable, they interacted with my myself, husband, and daughter throughout our entire time we were there, they got our truck in super quick and within 15 minutes came out with the best news we can hear, it's not the alternator but only the battery. They fixed us up within 30 minutes for a great price and we could not be more happier. I HIGHLY recommend Yost to any and everybody and although I hope to not have an future car issues, if I do and we are in Wichita, this is our go to #1 place! Yost Auto is a family business that always over delivers. They are my families go-to for anything automotive. When I think of Yost Auto, honesty and integrity come to mind. Best auto service in town, period. This summer, my AC Compressor went out. I had it replaced by Yost a year before. The compressor had a one year warranty, and it had expired by little less than a month. Yost looked at it and said they never saw a compressor have that problem so quickly and honored the warranty. I was referred to Yost Automotive by a co-worker of my wife. I called with an emergency of sorts and was met on the phone by Brian. After listening to my issue he agreed on my preliminary diagnosis and referred me to a towing company to bring my car in. The gentleman from the towing company was incredible. I can see why I was referred to them by Yost. I drove my car to the shop where I was greeted by Brian and my car was immediately taken in to be worked on despite how busy they were at the time. While I was there I was treated to some nice conversation from several of the employees, offered something to drink and given a company calendar. Finding a full-service automobile service company that has experienced, factory trained, competent technicians working in a facility that allows them to comfortably work their craft, outside a dealership, isn't easy. It seems the Yost family has created such a place. The difference is Yost pricing is fair and reasonable - and the staff is friendly and professional. Toward the end of 2018 I took them two vehicles with out-of-the-ordinary issues. A Chevy Impala that seemed to need a new right-side hub but once replace we realized the problem went further. Getting late, they put me in a loaner car so they could "stay on it in the morning" - having it ready the same day. I then took them my Toyota 4Runner for a vibration when braking only above 30 MPH. (not rotors or pads) After adjusting the rear brakes, multiple test rides and thorough inspection, the experienced Toyota factory trained tech walked me under the vehicle and showed me 2 or 3 bushings that were the culprits. They wrote me up a quote for that and a timing belt replacement. I'll be back... The relief is knowing I've found a great place - a competent place - for my auto repairs.

We most recently had our Kia Spectra in for some maintenance work and their price was good...then when the steering squealed shortly after the work, they made an adjustment. Brian and Russ are excellent leaders and the staff is very friendly and caring. Prices are very fair and service is extraordinary. They always find something on your vehicle that you didn't think about or notice and could have lead to danger or future breakdown--they take prevention seriously and do thorough inspection every time. When an expensive service or repair is needed, they are honest and upfront about it. They even break it to you kindly! I have even taken silly repairs to them and they treat it like any other repair. I took my car into Yost to have my transmission looked at. They came back with a price that was a little beyond my price range. I called around town and got a better deal (we'll see). When I told them I need to have my car towed out of their facility, they were nice as pie and did not charge me an arm and a leg to cover the tow from where the car broke down and their time invested in looking at the car. Even though I went with another transmission place they were still very helpful. Just all around good people. I will definately go back to Yost. If I had the money I would've had them do the job.

I have taken all my vehicles in for years and they have always been great. But this last time I took it in they went far beyond my expectations. We brought a car in for a very intermittent problem and they finally got it to act up after a day or so which is typical when you take a car in to not do the problem for a bit. They traced it down and fixed the part that seemed to be the problem. They kept it and drove it for a day. No other problems presented. We picked the car back up and it almost immediately started acting up again. So we took it back in and they found a couple other issues that were missed or didn't present the first time. They replaced all of the parts. When I asked what the bill was they told me it was on them since they didn't get it done the first time. I didn't even ask for a discount or argue with them to try and get something off the price they just offered. I have never had a company just offer to take care of something like that. Then a couple of days later we realized our remote start didn't work. We took it back to them thinking it was just a quick fix that it may not have been put back on since they didn't even know the remote start was present when they had it or something like that. They spent 2 days working on the remote start, which was apparently a cheap aftermarket system and was wired very haphazardly. (It came with the vehicle when we purchased it) We didn't expect them to fix a system that was installed wrong and so poorly from the beginning but they got it all working and took care of that bill for us as well. Needless to say I have sent cars to them for years and I will continue to send them there. All of our personal and company vehicles get all maintenance done here and they have never steered me wrong. These guys are awesome. A special shout out to Brian... and Joe is always awesome to!

I needed some maintenance done on my truck and chose Yost for one reason; their great customer reviews! You all lived up to that reputation during my experience. We have used Yost for several years as our only maintenance and repair service provider. They are efficient, inform us ahead of doing any additional work that they have determined should be done, the staff is friendly. We are always kept informed. I love the work and the people at YOST auto. I took my 1997 Honda Accord in to their shop for a front wheel bearing replacement. My case ended up to be worst than I though and needed an extra part. They were able to find a suitable part and fix it for less than their ball park estimate. The owner is super nice and offered myself and one other person who was waiting in the lobby a freshly made cup of coffee. The owner also did something that I have never expected from any shop. That is: he kept constant contact with myself with the progress of my car and also taught me a few things about what was wrong with my car. Jonathan, the guy at the front desk is amazing. He is also super nice and very honest. He is also seems to be very optimistic about the estimates (among other things) and consistently allows for the consumer to prepare for the worst case scenario while it is almost never above the cost he has quoted. This is good practice in the automotive industry which benefits the consumer in the way of the ability to plan. My estimate that I had over the phone was around 275 plus tax. With the added part that was needed it went up to a post-tax amount of 385. The repairs actually cost me less at $380 and change which is the post tax amount. After I left the shop, I was driving along 2nd street and I could not believe how good my car felt while driving. It felt a lot smoother and I haven't had a single problem with the repair since. I highly recommend this shop to anyone in the air capitol with a car. They are amazing. I will be taking my car there for future servicing and repairs.

Both my brother and I were making the drive from Des Moines, Iowa to Fort Worth, Texas, cutting through Kansas along the way. My car, which I have only owned for a few short months, gave me a warning saying the transmission oil was overheating. I didn't have the tools to get under the shield that covered the transmission oil to check it. Google pointed us to Yost. They were all very nice and welcoming. They took our car in, without appointment or any prior notice, and let us get into the shop. They looked it over and after only twenty minutes or so, came out and told us the problem. We were gone within thirty minutes of arriving there and they did not even charge us. They told us they were just happy to help! I am very satisfied with Yost!

Simply outstanding. Have an 1986 vehicle which takes a special eye, and these folks are straight up, honest, very communicative, and fair. Diagnosed a problem the dealer has missed for 2 years, but solved a nagging issue. It was not inexpensive, but they communicated it up front, walked me through options, ran into some challenges when they got in, but called to let me know and when it was all done - they came in less than the original estimate and probably 1/3 of the dealer pricing - all with a pleasant attitude and friendly approach. Yet another check engine light came up on my 2006 toyota solara. Google the internet and it lead me to replacing 2 speed sensors. Welp, the internet failed me and it didn't correct the issue. Took the vehicle to Yost and they were able to diagnose and fix the problem within a couple hours! Turned out the wiring that connected into the sensors went bad, something I wouldn't have known. Next time, I'll go straight to Yost to save time and money! ** Accidentally wrote over my previous review but Yost auto was able to address a CEL for evap codes I had. Been using them for 10+ years, great service!
