Metro Motors in Georgetown was recommended to me by a good friend after my former mechanic retired. These guys are straight to the point. Best team of mechanics in DC, in my opinion. They replaced my catalytic converter and now my Subaru Outback drives like it did when I bought it 3 years ago. Three words come to mind: fair, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. Be sure to talk to Jaime — solid guy.

Pros: - Professional / Quality - Clear communication - Speed (2 day turn around after dropping off the car late) Cons: - Expensive City Shop, paid about 50% more than what I would expect to pay. I was quoted 650 to replace a starter where I expect that to cost 350-400. Ultimately paid 600 after negotiating. Summary: Seems like most of their work is from tow ins, so their rates and fees are charged accordingly. On the other hand, the work was done well and quickly so also, it's probably the best place to be towed to in DC if you have AAA. But if you have a choice and can drive, I'd say drive out to the suburbs and take your shot out there for a better deal.

Very helpful and friendly. Clear in explaining what was wrong and how to prevent future difficulties. I’m new in town so it was a great relief to find an honest and very good mechanic. Came by once to make an appointment for a minor repair. Brian came out to look at the issue and was able to pop things back into place and fix the problem. Another shop might have had me bring the car in at another time and charge me a lot. I highly recommend this place.

One of my tires kept going flat. I brought my car into metro in Georgetown and Jamie and everyone there could not have been more helpful. It turned out that it wasn’t just the tire, but the rim as well. I had a road trip coming up, so they patched the tire so I was able to drive, and ordered what was needed. I felt completely safe on my trip; I knew that Jamie, the manager, would not have said it would be fine if it were not the case. They kept me updated when they were expecting the parts, which, these days can take a while. They got my car in right away when the parts arrived. They were always friendly, professional, and available. This really is a neighborhood auto repair shop, and it is nice to know that they are there!

I’ve had them fix flat tires and engine/battery issues. Solid team that communicates well with customers, honestly discloses your car’s issues and works quickly and efficiently. Flexible pickup timing is nice, AAA discount is small but a nice perk if you’re towed there. A bit on the expensive side but that’s not out of the ordinary for DC given the high costs of operating a business here. Thanks for the good work, I’ll be a return customer for sure. UPDATE - Metro motor to the rescue again! They fixed up brakes this time, was in and out in 2 days with lots of communication on cost and status. Highly recommend them.

Over the years, Jamie and his team have taken great care of our vehicles. The quality of their work is high and their service fast and reliable, but almost more important is the personal care they tale with their clients. While the service departments of large dealerships take appointments and communicate with customers almost entirely online, it is possible to drop by Exxon for a quick assessment and speak to a qualified human being. They have also helped us with unusual problems: last week, for instance, they retrieved a ring I had dropped into the space next to the driver's seat!

I moved to Washington DC from San Francisco about two years ago. When I was in San Francisco which was my hometown I had lots of trusted advisers including an incredible car maintenance garage. When I moved to DC I didn’t know where to go so I went to the dealer. I won’t go into the details but the battery cost some thing in the range of $700. Even I knew that was absurd. Living in Georgetown I had gotten gas a few times at Metro motors. I noticed tons of different cards and they always seem to be crowded. I figured this must be a good sign. I have never been happier. I absolutely trust Jami if he says that the car needs something I know that it needs some thing. Their ethics are outstanding their work is outstanding and I highly recommend them.

Brian and Jamie at Metro Motor are amazing! They replaced my driver’s side mirror that had been knocked out. They had to order the part from Honda (which they did immediately!) and had it in the next day. They repaired the car within a few hours of the part coming in so that I could take it on a trip the next morning. Brian and Jamie and the other guys are so busy and work so hard at what they do. They are friendly and professional and simply know the ins and outs of any make of car. I have taken our van down there numerous times now and had a positive experience every time. I know they would appreciate my making an appointment to drop my car in but every time, it seems it’s been an emergency and I have just had to take it down there with little advance notice and they are always very understanding and respectful and just incredibly accommodating. My car had not started the day before Christmas Eve and I had to get AAA to jump start it to get home. Christmas Eve 2021 was on a Friday and I knew that it would be difficult to find a mechanic who would be prepared to check the electrical system, diagnose the problem and repair it in the couple of hours before they closed up at 1:00pm. My neighbour recommended Metro Motor. I rang Jamie (Metro Motor) and he very kindly said he would check the car if I brought it to him immediately which I did. Two hours later a new battery was installed (the old one was 4 years old). In fact when my old car was needing increasing repairs - and I kept bringing it to Jamie, it was him that told me that the repairs were not worth it and I should trade it in. I just took my car to Metro Motor at Georgetown Exxon for the first time as I was looking for a more conveniently located repair shop. I came in for an oil change, to have the check engine light turned off, and for a overall safety check. They said they could take my car the same day that I called. I dropped off the car in the evening and they had checked out the car and found one problem by the next afternoon. They called me to talk through the issue and waited for my confirmation that I wanted the repair done. Jamie ordered the part that afternoon and my car was ready the next evening. Overall, very efficient service in a convenient location. They theoretically still offer the free Lyft drop off/pick up as advertised on their website, but the manager has to be there and it is only during business hours, so I ended up not using it and getting there myself which was easier to coordinate than having them call the Lyft.

I was visiting my friend who lives in Dupont Circle. I woke up to a dead battery after driving from North Carolina the day before. After receiving a jump, I called Metro Motor and asked if they could change my battery on a Friday afternoon. I was afraid I would have to drive out to one of the many auto parts stores in the suburbs of DC and lose a lot of time on my vacation. Jamie was quick to say yes, come right over. My car had a new battery and I was back home before 4 PM on a Friday afternoon. That was a miracle. The whole process was easy and stress free. Plus I was able to walk around Georgetown while the work was being completed. I received a text that my car was ready a half hour before I expected. My car broke down at 1am. Had it towed to the Metro Motor in Georgetown. By 8am at opening, I called them and they immediately picked up and found out what was wrong within the hour. They had my alternator replaced, battery charged, and oil changed all by 1pm the following day. A 12 hour turnaround period! Incredibly fast and professional! Superb treatment. For the past 4 or 5 years, I have had trouble with the tire pressure warning light on my Honda turning on without much change in the pressure. Metro motor said that the likely culprit was a problem with the electrical monitor, common to Hondas. And suggested replacing the monitor or disconnecting it. Because replacement was far more expensive, I opted for the latter. Two months have gone by and the fix has worked like a charm. No change in tire pressure, and no annoying blinking.

Fantastic service on short notice. My truck had been sitting a while, battery was dead, and I needed to head out of town at end of day just prior to holiday period on a cross country trip. Managed to get a jump start and head over to Georgetown Exxon. Exxon Mobile is responsive and competent, and reasonable in charges. The manager Jamie is always available and excellent in following up. I’ve used them for both of my vehicles- Toyota RAV4 and Volkswagen Tiguan - with excellent service. Javon easily the friendliest service station workers I’ve encountered. Quickly removed flat and put my spare tire on. No waiting. New Tire ordered was not the cheapest, but when I returned two days later, again, no waiting, Javon had the new one on in minutes. Worth it! Very good experience.

I called more than 6 repair shops seeking help in an unfamiliar city for an unanticipated problem and 5 declined to engage. Metro Mobile immediately took my car and calmed my rattled disposition, diagnosed the problem--on a Saturday afternoon after closing--ordered the parts, and prioritized repairing my car to drivable condition on Monday to get me on the road home. In short, Metro Motor wants to be the best in DC and works tirelessly to achieve their standing in technical expertise, service and customer care. Theirs is a dying business model so take advantage of the team when you are in the market for car repair.

Brought my car in Thursday and it needed a lot done. Got it back Monday. Timely and professional job. Easy in and out. My only issue would be the $169 diagnosis fee for the check engine light. I could've taken it to Autozone and got that done for free and they charged $169 to plug a machine in and read an error code that took 2 minutes. A little unfair but I learned my lesson.
