Our Honda CRV was badly damaged by someone who ran a red light and broadsided us to the tune to over $8000. Everything was wrong mechanically as well as the body. They had to work with our insurance company out of California and Mr. Watchman was absolutely wonderful. The shop did take a long time to complete, but the car was flawless when returned. We couldn't have been happier. The paint matched perfectly and the mechanics worked great. I know they fussed over it because they went back to the insurance when they needed to fix more things then originally thought. They are very particular and I do so appreciate it.

the reviews speak for themselves. they give great service and everyone i’ve talked to has been super friendly and approachable. there is no air of suspicion with them like there can be at other mechanics. i believe they do good work at reasonable prices. they might be a bit more expensive than some other shops, but you know you’re getting superior work with the most reasonable parts available and they refuse to start a repair before you give them verbal consent. the bill you see in the beginning is the bill you pay, unless they find something else while they’re working and you sign off on it. they’ll always explain the additional costs, why the repair needs to be done, and an honest answer to the perennial question “can this repair wait a few months?” i took my 20 year old Camry here until her dying breath, and now I take my newer Mazda there too. unless they close or I move out of town, my cars will be in this shop and nowhere else!

THE best. I'll never go to another auto body shop as long as they are open and I am in the area. Prompt. Extremely communicative and detailed in findings/recommendations, etc. They provide pictures of the issues, detailed descriptions, level of concern (high/medium/low) and text it all to you as soon as the inspection is done. When I was faced with an unfortunate break-in to my car, and I was unaware of my local car repair shops, I decided to try Far East Motors. They took my car in next day after a quick call to the shop explaining my situation(non-driveable). There were some backorders on parts, but they communicated and worked with me the whole time. They were professional and courteous. Watchman's service skills made me feel welcomed and like a local auto shop should. The repairs came out nice, and they truly went out of their way to help me. This will be my go to spot for future repairs.

I'm so glad I found Far East Motors after moving to the area 4+ years ago! I tell my coworkers and others about the newsletters, promotions, and customer service they deliver, and all of my friends that aren't in the area wish they had an auto shop like this near them. They look out for their customers and are accommodating with schedules when things go wrong. Case in point, my battery failed the Friday evening before Thanksgiving; they had a new battery delivered overnight and installed Saturday morning. During this time, a charm fell off my keychain sometime during this visit (and I didn't even notice it was gone). There was nothing that could tie it to me, but they held onto it until I came into my next appointment. Far East Motors will forever have my business while I'm in the area!

This is my new go-to mechanic. It was so easy to set up an appointment and they took my car as soon as I arrived! No wait! The staff were very helpful and had great customer service. They found that I needed to fix my brake lights and get my oil changed along with a few other things. The pricing was fair and everything came with a receipt. The team took great care of my car after a rainy day collision. Far East Motors was able to help me out when my car started leaking oil. They were able to call me a tow to their location and was able to get my car in that day. Even with the snow and the holiday weekend they were able to get my car back to me within 48 hours. The workers and mechanics were awesome and were able to walk me though the diagnostics and process of getting my car repaired. You could tell they were experienced and were able to answer any questions I had. Will definitely use them again and will recommend them to everyone!

So, I want to say first off Mr. Watchman is the best! I have literally never given a review online but felt compelled to give one after my experience. This place was by far the best experience I had in auto repair. They were very thorough and patient as they spelled out all the issues with my car to help me understand what was urgent and what could potentially wait. My car was driving rough and had a lot of mechanical issues. It now drives as smooth as it did when I bought the car. From customer service to quality of work this is a 5 star establishment. I love that they send you an electronic document to view the estimates as well as a visual image of the inspection itself to see where the problem areas were with my car. This thoroughness allowed me to make the most feasible decision financially in getting my car fixed. You won’t go wrong with your car by visiting Far East Motors.

This place is great! I was pretty stressed out after the alternator in my Lexus quit on me. I found this place while headed to another shop. I decided to do business here because of they specialize in Lexus vehicles and because of Johnny, one of the Mechanics. Their customer management system or software is great, it breaks down the total cost to service and recommended repairs nicely-easy to read for non-technical people. Transparent pricing and estimate. I needed to get a used car inspection done for my nephew. He was coming down from NYC to purchase a car from a private seller. They got me in the next morning and ran a full computer check, visual inspection, and a test drive for a very reasonable price. Plus they were able to evaluate the hybrid battery pack. We got a complete inspection report and estimated repair costs for the few things they did find. I have used this repair shop for going on 2 decades and have had nothing but A+ service from them.

Far East was great. I’m not one to rave (or leave reviews at all, for that matter) but if you own a vehicle and you live anywhere near silver spring, this is where you want to go for anything your car needs. They took a series of pictures with captions that explained problems, possible solutions, detailed estimates for prices on each thing, and send it to you in a way that allows you to authorize or deny any or all of the work in a no-pressure environment where you feel informed. The technicians could have easily made $700 off me if they wanted to, but instead found a good, permanent fix that only cost me $80. The service was professional and friendly, easily the best automotive experience I’ve had in more then 15 years. Bravo.

Top auto chef right here. The men at the front desk really kept the facilitation process going between the guys running repairs and myself. Allowed me many custom options of repair packages. If one package didn't work, they go back to the drawing board. High energy and fast output. Ready in no time. I'm happy. Custom built my repair package based on my needs. Fixed it within days. Then I furthered my custom repairing until my budget meet satisfaction. They were very patient with my decision making process. I will be returning to this shop for any further repairs. As for price, I don't know. I didn't shop around. Simply the level of trouble the brotha went through was worth it.

Far East Motors is my go-to mechanic in the DC area. They’ve done quite a bit of work on my old Honda CR-V over the last couple years and it’s always been high quality. The customer service is top notch. They might be a little more expensive than other shops, but in my experience, you get what you pay for—they don’t try to sell you something you don’t need, and the person working on your car actually cares about fixing/maintaining it. As long as that remains the case, I will keep going back.

My wife's car had been having the same ongoing issues over the past year. We had taken it to 2 other mechanics, one was a large dealership and one was a small mom and pop who previously did work on my car. Both were unsure of what the problem was, however the large dealership told me they eventually "fixed" it. Three months and hundreds of dollars spent later, we were back at square one. I saw good reviews about Far East and gave them a shot. They were amazing! Had the car dropped off after hours and received a call first thing the next morning. A friend highly recommended we take our 17-year old Acura MDX to Far East Motors. From the initial telephone conversation, I was impressed with Watchman's casual conversation and lightheartedness. Even though we're no where near Silver Spring, we felt it was worth it to take the trip. And we were not disappointed! Watchman was awesome. Our vehicle was left with him for three days but during that period, he was in constant contact, either via telephone, text or emails (with photos) explaining the issues with the vehicle and patiently answered our many, many questions. His price was reasonable, considering the multiple things we needed done, yet lower than what the other dealers charged. Going forward, Far East Motors will be our one and only service contact. I am fairly new to Silver Spring and found Far East motors online and took a chance. Customer Service was outstanding and the quality of work was excellent. Plus the turn around time was less than 24 hours ( I didn’t bring my vehicle in until the afternoon). I was told that most cars are repaired the same day. The cost of the service was very reasonable. The service manager Mr. Watchman Sykes is welcoming, knowledgeable and very helpful. In the future I will always bring my vehicles here. I highly recommend this shop.

I’ve been bringing my Subaru to Far East Motors for over two years, about 8 visits over 45,000 miles, and I am very happy with their work and personal service. Although they are not bargain-cheap, their prices are fair and i’ve never experienced them gouging or even up-selling me. I have had a little body work done, most of the rest has been maintenance including tires and brakes. No major repairs yet. The shop is efficiently run, the work seems good, and both front desk guys are excellent communicators, which makes a big difference

I must say that I never look forward to having to deal with car repair shops. I always feel that I was taken advantage of one way or another, but not at Far East Motors. Today was my first visit and it was great. They are honest and showed all the needed work in pictures and measurements. The price was reasonable and they finished the work in a timely manner. EDIT: After expressing my dissatisfaction with my experience, the owner reached out to me himself and worked with me to get me what I needed. I appreciated the effort and was relieved to finally get my car in "pass" status. Far East Motors will work with you when you need it! I came to get a car inspection and had a pleasant experience the first time. I was told by the owner, Mr. Moser, that my rear shocks were leaking but that everything else looked great. Their prices were too high for my law student budget so I went elsewhere to get the issue fixed. I came back (granted over a month later but with nothing new except the issue I got fixed) and I was given a list of other issues - this time by the manager -(minor things like a small crack in the windshield and a rear reflector broken). Mind you, these "issues" were all there the first time I took it but they were not pointed out. Now they refuse to pass it because of these two things that were present the first time I brought the car in. Needless to say I am extremely disappointed with this. I had a good experience the first time but not worth the headache I'm having now.I don't recommend.

Had another good experience with Far East Motors. I noticed a metallic grinding noise on my way to work and felt it should be looked at ASAP. I called them and they were able to get my car in for service and finish that same day! In addition the noise issue (front steering knuckle rubbing against brake rotors), they let me know my back brakes were shot (and I knew it had been a while since they had been replaced), so they replaced those as well. The price was fair, especially for the quick service. Watchman is a “rock” at this place for a reason. His customer service skills are excellent and he’s a friendly face who can answer all your questions.

They fixed part of a knocking noise that was the cause of most of it at low speeds but the main problem was the wheel bearing of the car. Upon hearing the noise again at higher speeds, I brought it right back and they were super chill about going on a road test to figure it out and when they heard it, he immediately brought me back to the shop and lifted the car and even brought me over to stethoscope the bearing and showing me what the problem was. Compared to some mechanics that don’t even want you look at them???😂 A-1 service. Came back the very next day to get the bearings fixed and this is what sold me on the trust. Plenty of mechanics could have easily charged me for the whole job but they went out of the way to test the bearing that was really bad after it was changed and found out that the problem was fixed from just that one. Being relatively new bearings, the only problem having been defective parts, I didn’t mind having only one side changed and ended up saving a lot!

We are thrilled with the service at Far East Motors! Our Volvo intermittently displayed a message, “low beam bulb failure,” but the headlights were on. One mechanic said it was a short and to take it to Volvo, another said we had a bad alternator and battery, so we took it to Far East Motors for a third opinion. After a complete diagnostic, we were told the battery and alternator were perfect! They noticed a flicker in the left headlight and suggested that it be replaced. In a car 7 1/2 years old with the original headlights we changed both. The flickering stopped and so did the warning message! My husband and I have been using Far East Motors to service our Toyota Camry since 2009 or so, and we have always been very satisfied. Watchman Sykes is the manager I usually communicate with and he is both personable and knowledgeable. He is also good at breaking down my car's maintenance or repair needs in a way that a non-technical person like myself can understand. And he is honest in providing you with options that other car service places might not. For example, a couple of years ago we got some pretty severe scratches on our passenger side rear door and panel. He gave me the estimate for what the full repair would cost (and I checked with my brother-in-law who works at a car dealership and he said the pricing was definitely very fair), but when I said that it was a little more than what my husband and I were prepared to spend just then he came up with other options. He ended up being able to make the scratches and dents much less visible and completely protected from any rust for a fraction of the cost. I am grateful for Far East Motor's great care for my vehicle, and respect for my budget.

They found a used part, saving me $600. They kept me up to date on progress, and stayed late when i was late picking up the car. They test drove the car to make sure the repair worked. When we brought our other car in, they researched it found that the problem was covered by warranty but had to be fixed by the Honda dealer. They could have not told us and had us pay them to do the repair, but they told us and they even called ahead to the dealer to confirm it would be covered. So our car was fixed for free thanks to Far East Motor, and you can trust them.

I've been bringing my Honda Civics here for the past 5 or 6 years. Everyone there is so courteous and helpful. Drop the car off in the morning, expect a call with more details or even an emailed estimate, and everything will be ready by 2 or 3pm. I've had regular services, tires patched, brakes replaced, broken key fobs with electronic buttons replaced, AC filters replaced . . . They really take everything apart during a regular service and give you a report on all the wear and tear. It's nice to hear options about how long I have until an expensive repair like brake replacement. I've called the shop during flustered moments when I needed a tow truck recommendation and what to do when the key got stuck in my ignition and the steering wheel seized up. These guys feel like family.

They have night pick-up (if you have an extra set of keys) and drop off. They're only about a 10 minute walk from Silver Spring Metro, so pretty convenient.

I've been going to Far East Motors many years. The owner is customer focused and his staff are extremely fair and respectful. He is also the former master mechanic for Wilson Honda back in the day. Above all, I find their prices better than the dealer, but they are also certified like the dealer, meaning your Honda/Toyota doesn't lose warranty if you let them service it -- which is huge. Above all, I think they are very honest. They've been more than forthcoming on issues that I could wait till later to repair and advise me with sound advice (even sometimes to their disadvantage) when I ask for their opinion. I will say they are very busy (for obvious reasons) -- so to be fair -- you should periodically expect them to revise their schedule -- but rarely does it happen and if it does -- it isn't more than a couple of hours. You would be hard press to find a more honest, comprehensive, garage for your Japanese import.

There is not much worse than going to a bad mechanic. I've had bad experiences with my car so I've become very picky about my mechanic. Saying that, I would recommend this auto repair facility and I will be bringing my car back as needed. They seem a little expensive to me, although I think their prices are fairly standard for the area and getting it done right the first time is always cheaper. They seem a bit overly cautious and their recommendations do seem a bit extreme. So be very specific about what you want done and don't want done. Overall the work seems to be of high quality.

I have been taking my vehicle here for a couple of years. The team here is friendly and most importantly, honest. There was once a time where the issue was misdiagnosed at first (as a fuel tank harmless noise that cannot be fixed without replacing the whole thing), but several months later on the following oil change, was correctly re-diagnosed and fixed (turned out to be the rear shocks). Having said that, I still give them five stars and have scheduled my upcoming winter service with them because they can be trusted! Even when the noise was misdiagnosed at first, the fees were minimal, and they even recommended not going for the expensive repair. Instead of trying to oversell services, they will tell you exactly what they think you need and won't over-inflate the bill with unnecessary charges. To me, that's the most important thing to look for in an auto service center: trust and peace of mind.

Communication from the shop is a little sparse at times. I had a vehicle there for service and received a call that it was ready about 5 minutes before closing. However they were flexible and stayed open for a few minutes to let me arrive.
