We had a 1991 corvette that had sit for over 7 years with nothing done to it. Had to have it towed into the shop. The crew went though everything that was wrong and fixed everything that we had talked about. Very transparent and informative on any additional items that came up. Multiple items fixed and even cleaned up 7 years of dirt car looks and runs like new. They made a grandpa very happy as he drove away.

They were very good about providing pricing before service to avoid hidden costs. After hours pickup was easy. Not many places In SD will work on Mini so it's nice to know there is someone who will service and warranty their work! I do still have a service due indicator and the check engine/reduced power did come on briefly, but after turning the car off and back on it hasn't returned yet.

I've been taking my vehicles to chris' auto for nearly 5 years. Never had a bad experience! The staff is always friendly. I've had a couple cars that weren't in the best shape, and they were always honest with me about what was wrong, what needed to be fixed right away to keep my car safe, and what could wait to be fixed until I could afford it. They are the only mechanic shop I will trust to work on my vehicles. - to the staff. Yalls honesty, hard work and kindness are super appreciated!

The staff are quite friendly and accommodating. Prices were extremely high though. Took quite a but longer than we had hoped to get our vehicle back. The work done was decent enough quality. I was underwhelmed overall and will not be a return customer.

First called them to see if they had a loaner car. They said they did. Great I thought, show up and they said most their loaners are down and one they had was out... They had already pulled the car in so instead of walking away $70 lighter on inspection I figured to just have them look at it.. that's strike 1... Strike 2 they initially quote steering rack and pinion replacement for $1400... Which would fix my steering feedback and issues... Ok sure they have it I'm already $70 in whatever. They quote me the wrong part and now it jumped to 2100 but that doesn't include tax/labor jumped to $2600... Strike 2... I didn't have time to go pick it up they keep it until "I cannot absolutely test the car to see if the issues resolved." Get the car back it's late they left the key in the lock box. Get it started driving suddenly thinking "This is 100x harder to turn" Got home... Did some testing still having noise and flutter from the steering wheel. Definitely taking it back on MONDAY and make their 'quality check' redo it because it feels like the car has NO POWER Steering now...strike 3... the 2 other shops I use dont do loaners my only reason taking it to these guys. Which had the car for OVER A WEEK. Worst garage I've used in my life and I've had some doozies! Hope they can give an explanation why it feels like I'm turning a tractor now

Great service, only charged me 500 dollars for a battery replacement and visual inspection, now I’m confident that’s a good deal because I don’t know any better, would recommend. Had to sell my car to pay for that battery tho and my adopted daughter svetlannah was taken by the auditors and sent to Chris’s gulag to endlessly toil in the mines to pay for the visual inspection 10/10 amazing quality, am now homeless

Our small non profit school has a van for field trips and it is older and could use some maintenance. Currently the lock on the side entry door was not functional so I took it here to get a quote . They took a look at it and promptly got to work trying to see if they could figure out the problem. They figured it out, fixed it and didn’t even charge me - all within a few minutes. They were helpful and very kind. Very impressed!

Chris’s Auto did a great job fixing my BMW. They fixed a multitude of leaks and other internal issues and I can honestly tell a night and day difference in the way it drives. It was in the shop for quite awhile and they could do a little better job communicating with the customer on the progress of repairs, but that would be my only complaint. The staff are extremely friendly and cooperative!

I've been here 3-4 times over the past few years with major repair needs on an old truck, and they've always done a great job at a very reasonable price. Their inspections are no joke, they actually thoroughly inspect your vehicle and do a great job of finding little repair needs before they become big expensive repairs. They take the time to explain their findings to you in a very friendly way without any of the pressure or intimidation that other shops might use, so you can make your own informed decisions about the repairs. They're very helpful and locally owned. We won't take our vehicles anywhere else!

I’m fresh off my second visit to Chris’s and the experience verified all of the feelings I had after the previous one. The prices are very fair and the quality of work is clearly a priority. But I’ve actually been most impressed with the employees that I’ve interacted with. They’ve certainly been knowledgeable, but I’ve also found them to be exceptionally friendly and engaging. They make you feel like genuinely appreciate your business.

Everything about my experience with Chris’s was great. They have a full staff and were able to get my car in the day after I called. They kept me updated with every development and we’re upfront about costs and what services were included. When I picked up the car, they had the tech who worked on my car come and talk with me about what they found, what might have caused it, what they fixed, and what to expect and look for going forward. This place is absolutely incredible. Our car broke down and they were the only place in Sioux Falls that could get us in the same day. I called 9 places before Chris’s. My daughter was out of town for business and I took her pickup in for an oil change and tire rotation. They had the services done earlier than expected and were very courteous and helpful. Previously my husband had used Chris's for an oil change and tire rotation on the pickup so he recommended that I take our Buick SUV there. Everyone was very courteous especially the young man that I scheduled with and I will definitely take our vehicles there again.

I had just picked up my SD license plates, and called a number of places, but couldn’t find any who would take my old ones off and put on the new ones. I drove by here, and stopped in to ask. Josh had someone do it immediately, and at no charge. They had boxes of Girl Scout cookies at the desk, but not to sell - they give them to their customers and support the scouts. Old time customer service - I left with a smile, and such a good feeling.

I had a good experience with chris’s auto. They have an employee named Josh and he is extremely good with explaining how things work and is very patient and understanding. I didn’t really know how everything worked with the paying process and so on but he was very patient with me and has a lot of respect. I trust everything they do so if you have an issue with your vehicle I highly recommend going here if you want to get it fixed the right way. They also offer payment plans through acima which help very much. It’s a little expensive but in the end your issues with be fixed the proper way.

I initially gave Chris's Auto Repair 5* after they did extensive work on my 2010 Ford F150. They did over $13K of work to my trucks between Dec 2021 and Feb 2022. To their credit, they managed to get a "check engine" light to turn off, and stay off, that has been a problem. BUT... Having done that much work that recently, I figured they'd remember the truck that they essentially rebuilt. I was wrong. I brought it in ONLY for tire rotate and balance because one of the wheels had lost a weight. When I dropped it off, I reminded Josh that Chris's auto had JUST done the front struts and shocks 2 months ago, so only do the balance and rotate. The truck went in at 10:00, and I told Josh call me when it was done and I'd pick it up. That way, they could work on it at their convenience. However, at 15:00 (3 pm) I was getting worried, and called. The receptionist said, "they found something they need to talk to you about." I told her ALL I wanted done was balance and rotate! They'd just finished doing $13K worth of work on my trucks. There better not be anything left to do! At 14:30, I got a call back from Josh, stating they'd found missing weights from both front wheels (no surprise), but the struts looked "almost new". Again, I reminded him THEY put them in just a couple months ago, they BETTER be new. He looked it up, and sure enough, there it was! I said just balance and rotate the tires. I want it done. By 14:00 THE NEXT DAY, I STILL HADN'T HEARD ANYTHING. So I called again. This time, the receptionist told me I needed 4 NEW TIRES! $13K and 4 months worth of work which included brakes, struts and shocks, and never once figured out there were problems with the tires until I needed them rotated and balanced?? And even then, it takes them TWO DAYS to figure it out? (In case you're wondering, it's my son's truck, and he's only put 582 miles on it since they saw it last, about 2 months ago) Then, when I refused to buy new tires, they FINALLY rotated the tires at 16:30 on day 2, but REFUSED to balance because they would have to tear down the tire, and take it off the rim (WHY?), and when they did, it was too much risk to the techs for rupture because one of the steel belts was torn. But none of that was identified on the other 150 point inspections done on that vehicle since 12/15/21. So I have regrettably downgraded my evaluation, and will let you make your own decision about Chris's Auto.

My son took his truck in for a full synthetic oil change for a very good price , Dr. Phillip the mechanic that completed the service noticed a vacuum leak that needed to be addressed , so he fixed it for free !!! Definitely gonna be a return customer for all our auto repair needs

Water pump began whining loudly. Brought my car in to have the shop look into it. Shop found the pump was bad as well as serpentine belt being cracked, my suspension was also needing attention. The shop was quick to identify problems and gave a reasonable estimate. When I come in to pick my car up, the bill was under the estimate. These folks use high quality parts and while not the cheapest labor rate they make it up in excellent work and this high standard is not a one-off. My take is "you get what you pay for." I got a lot for what I paid for.

While I was doing some research on auto mechanics in the Sioux Falls area, I came across Chris’ Auto Repair. I had a diagnostic completed for new struts and wanted to find a local shop that would also provide a great price and quick service. I had already called a few places and asked not only pricing, but how soon the work could be done. Chris’ Auto broke down the pricing for me, let me know how soon the parts could be in, how long it would take, and could get me in the very next day. I was impressed by the quickness and the price was more than reasonable. When I dropped my car off, I was greeted professionally, had the quote price reiterated to me, and said they would call when it was done. When I was contacted that my car was done, in the amount of time they told me, I picked up my car and was extremely happy with the service. My car is riding better than it was when I bought it. I highly recommend bringing your car to Chris’ and will be going back for all future needs! Excellent job!!

Extremely fast, friendly, and accommodating. I had a previous “tire shop” strip a lug nut, and they told me I would have to weld or torch it off. I called around town, and Chris’ is the only shop able to do that. I called they got me in within a half hour, didn’t need any special tools, and were able to fix it within 15 minutes. They inspected the car and found that what was wrong with my car was something far less severe and far less expensive than what I thought I had diagnosed on my own. Was looking to buy a used car, so brought it here to have it inspected first. They "thoroughly inspected it from front to back", and after telling me it looks great, I bought the car. Since then I've had all sorts of issues, many of which should have been pointed out (damaged radiator hose, bad strut, dangerously loose engine mount, etc.). They might do good work, but don't take your car here for an inspection, it's a waste of money. Edit: the owner Chris called me, listened to my story, and apologized for what happened. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing my car there again to give them another shot. Can't speak to the work they do, but it seems like the owner cares about making sure his clients are taken care of

These guys are fantastic! I was 800 miles from home and had a major issue that needed to be fixed before I went any further. I didn't have an appointment - just called early in the morning and was told to come on in - they pulled out all the stops and worked extra hard to get my car back on the road that day. They didn't try to sell me stuff I didn't need, and were upfront about everything. The mechanics who worked on my car did a great job. Anthony and Travis in the office were wonderful and accommodating, seriously top-notch customer service. They even followed up with me a few days later to make sure I made it home safely. If I lived in Sioux Falls, I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. Thanks so much, y'all!

They are so wonderful I woukd recommend them to to anyone. I went in because my window wouldn't work and they were able to tell me what was going on and went above and beyond to make sure I was safe on the road, I had an issue with my barrings and hubs that couldn't have resulted in a really bad accident. They called me to let me know what was wrong and made sure I knew all costs up front. I took it in and they had it repaired the same day and made me feel safe and confident by answering my abundance of questions. I will never go anywhere else.

It was my first experience with this shop today. I got a routine oil change and some other components looked at to see if they needed repairs. My first impression is that the people in the shop were straight up with me about what I did and didn't need (or need just yet) to the best of their ability. Jason was really upfront, detailed, and has great interpersonal skills. Jason was patient as I showed him my vehicle maintenance and repair records for reference. Josh was also helpful and friendly. It was closing time for the shop and everyone was still so patient and organized with getting me my detailed, final paperwork. The shop didn't try to upsell me on anything I didn't actually need, which I value sooo much in an auto shop along with being brought into the shop while my car is on the hoist so a tech can point out and explain exactly what things need repair and how they work. Labor is a little pricey but to be fair it seems competitive for this area and bottom line, car repair can get expensive no matter who is doing the work. In summary, I would return to this shop for my auto needs due to the demeanor and upfrontness of the employees of the shop. Oil change was $60 (not including state tax and disposal fees) so about $70 total, which I thought was pricey at first but for that price they also checked all the fluids and included a full diagnostic and checked the two issues I was initially brought the car in for. They also included Lyft rides to and from the shop. With Lyft prices much higher now since Lyft went public even for an 8 mile round trip ride, I found that to be a good value. For comparison, in Virginia I got an oil change for $50 at a Mr. Tire location that I was way less than satisfied with and that shop also tried to upsell me an air filter that I didn't actually need. So I'll take Chris's Auto Repair any day for an oil change over that Mr. Tire Shop in Virginia.

I am in town for a few months and needed a coolant flush for my car. Even though they were full, they were able to squeeze me in. They explained to me what they were going to do and gave me the price upfront. They also helped me with a ride. These guys are honest and do the right things. I would definitely come back here again if I need more work done on my car!!!

I called for an appointment on Monday leaving town on a Wednesday..they were able to fit me in their schedule for an oil change same day service..everyone was friendly..they even offered me hot coffee and a snack while waiting...I will be returning to Chris's Auto Repair for other Services as well...I also met a guy named Josh i asked if was Chris he says no Im Josh just the manager ..I said just the manager and then I laughed out loud...he put water in the pot to make me coffee.. Phil did a great job fixing my son's 1986 Ford Crown Vic. The AC is working great and he replaced the heater core...a couple of big jobs on such an old car! I wouldn't take my vehicles anywhere else in Sioux Falls for service. Friendly, honest, and timely with getting our car back!

Had an electrical short under the dash of my BMW, took it to Chris's as they were listed on the BMW registry as an approved repair shop. I ended up having them fix my broken door handle and replaced both batteries as well. Few months later I had to go under the dash and was surprised to see the level of quality of the electrical repair. Everything was shrink wrapped, put back in place just as it was when new. Seriously fantastic work in a cramped area. I will certainly visit them again if (more likely when) something breaks on my car again. 5 star +++++ in my book.

My experiences with Chris's Auto Repair have been the best I have ever had with auto repair. Not only is the work of high quality, but the customer service is beyond anything I have experienced - Anthony explained everything that needed to be repaired in detailed terms I could understand and it all made sense. There was no attempt to sell services I didn't need, and I always felt he was honest and genuinely cared about my safety in the car. I initially chose this shop a few weeks ago to have them diagnose the ABS light showing up on my dashboard after I had read several reviews, all of which were excellent. I bought a minivan from a lot in Sioux City and the next day had the engine light come on. The van went from running great to horrible instantly. Called several shops all predicted major diagnostics and repair costs. Anthony at chris’s In the other hand calmed me down had me bring the van in, explained that it “could be” a lot of things and promised that we would figure it out without racking up the bill. Did they deliver? Hell yes! He kept me informed every step of the way before making any repairs or billing me. Not only did they repair a multitude of issues, he told me what could and couldn’t wait, got me financing for the repairs and back on the road within hours, they even gave me a ride home while they worked on it. I am from out of town on a college visit for my daughter when my truck starts to run rough, so I show up at Chris's shop on a Friday night a half hour before closing, not only did they diagnosed the problem very quickly they were able to get parts delivered and installed while staying after hours to do so when all along they could of said no, that's excellent customer service in itself but it gets better, I leave Friday night thinking my truck is all good but I still find it running a little rough on Saturday morning so I message them and Anthony calls me back and has me meet him at the shop (remember they are supposed to be closed on Saturdays) their mechanic Mike comes in and they do some more testing and figure out I have another problem, they get some different parts and get my truck running like a top so I can make it back home, it's been a few weeks now and I haven't had anymore issues! I and my husband were travelling from Chicago to Washington state. We started having problem with our Volswagen . Thought that got bad diesel . My husband is a trucker , those things happens all the time. So changed the filter ,still would go a mile and stop. Decided to go to repair shop .We are not locals , don't know which one, googled the shop. Called them , they said come in. We couldn't make it to the shop ( too many starts ,batteries couldn't take our abuse ::::),towed the vehicle. They did diagnostic , fuel pumps failed . Ordered the parts. This happened on Friday and the parts would be on Monday. So we decided to proceed with our trip to Washington by renting a car. The owner Chris took us to rental at no charge . Very nice guy. So we came back from Washington on Monday to the shop. Same Chris went to pick up the parts. The car was fixed same day. We hang all Monday around the shop , my husband is kind of picky , knows a lot about cars , semi trucks ,fixes himself a lot of things. He was asking lots lots of questions . Mechanics were very nice . They definitely know what they are doing. Very polite , professional ,excellent and fast service. Fair prices. No more to say. Guys like this we need in Chicago.

Great shop. Called at 1pm with what I thought was a coolant leak and they said if I could get there fast they'd at least be able to look at it and get me an estimate. Turned out to be the power steering pump. The quote was reasonable and backed by a warranty with road-side service included. They said they could have the part there in 20 minutes and have it fixed in a couple hours. Picked it up about 5:30 same day and it's running great. I'd definitely recommend them.

On the morning of March 10th 2020, during a family emergency I was traveling across SD on my way towards SW Missouri. About 45 miles out of Sioux Falls I started having engine problems. Not familiar with the area, I pulled over and read the reviews and decided to call Chris's. I explained my situation to Shannon, the manager for Chris's. She said that if I could make it in, they would squeeze me into their schedule. I arrived about an hour later with a little apprehension because the facility is unassuminghowever, they were clearly busy (a good sign) and I didn't have much choice. My concern was quickly gone as they immediately took my vehicle in, diagnosed the problem, (without trying to up-sale me on other items--I was pretty sure what was wrong with my truck) and after giving me an estimate on the cost, got to work. About 3.5 hours later the owner, Chris, personally test drove my vehicle, double checked the work, and said that I was good to go. (The price was just a little less than quoted and was within the lower range of the national average for what they did.) I then headed on to my destination in time to take care of my family. Shannon texted me later to make sure that everything was good. I definitely recommend Chris's if you have a problem They did an outstanding job for me, especially considering how I was under a time constraint with a sick loved one waiting for me. I took my car to Chris for an oil change, and thinking I need rear breaks. After his shop took the time to throughly check the breaks, it was just dirty in there. While traveling through South Dakota on our way to a medical conference our car which was being towed by our motor home experienced a battery problem and would not start. The car needs to be started periodically to prevent transmission damage. Based on good reviews my wife called Chris after hours and left a voice message explaining our situation. Chris called back a few minutes later and said to meet him at his shop at 7 am. We did, and he quickly identified the main battery fuse was blown. It is a quick and easy repair to replace the fuse, however there were none in Sioux Falls, so Chris found a fuse in a junkyard in an adjacent town. The car started when the fuse was installed, and we were on the road by 12:30. Chris charged us only about an hour's worth for his efforts!

We bought a used car in brookings and had it for about 6 months, while driving into sioux falls, we heard the worst sounds coming from underneath the car, stopped and turned if off for about 20 minutes, started it again, no sounds so we thought we were good to go...no. we got out of the flying j parking lot and it started again, then heard a loud bang. Google the nearest repair shop and found Chris's. He had us call a tow truck,so we did, he picked us up and took us over, it took no more than 30 minutes for the guys to look at it and check it all out. They tell us we need a new transmission and how much it will be, and that our transmission was previously replaced and was missing bolts. They helped us tremendously and will be our mechanics as long as we live in SD. Thank you guys for all of your help and hard work!

first off let me start by saying i live VERY out of state (south carolina to be exact) so when my truck started acting up i was pretty concerned about finding a mechanic who was both competent and trustworthy. as you can tell from the 5 star rating, i definitely found one. i took my truck here after i was experiencing some rough starts and loss of power. it was running very rich due to a bad O2 sensor. these guys quickly diagnosed the problem, replaced the part, got my windows working again as a bonus, and Anthony kept me very well informed and updated throughout the process. when i got the truck back the O2 sensor they had replaced it with was a lemon (which is no fault of theirs) and they replaced that one at their own cost - going above and beyond what was even needed. i have been running good ever since and very highly recommend these guys. seriously if you live in the sioux falls area, dont take your car anywhere else.

While I was in town on business my water pump failed. It was about an hour before I got out of work and was about to head home. I had already checked out of my hotel when my water pump went out.I called Chris's and Anthony told me to bring it in. He and his team got it knocked out within just a few hours and I was able to get on the road back home to see my family. Thanks guys!!!
