I cannot say enough great things about Downtown Automotive. Someone stole my catalytic converter from under my car and did some damage while they were at it. After I had it towed to the shop, Lori went above and beyond to help me work with insurance and plan how we could do the repairs. They got everything done quickly and it works great. I’m incredibly happy with the prices and service here. I’ll definitely be bringing my car back here in the future!

Brakes went out on my car near Downtown Automotive. They were my neighborhood auto shop years ago so I went in to see if they could help me. They were swamped - cars everywhere and they said they could take my “emergency” and accepted my towed car (even though it appeared they had no room to take on more cars!). They communicated with me daily about the status and services needed. Lori was amazing to work with - easily accessible via phone and email. She sent over updated estimates as they figured out what was wrong with my car and explained everything to me in understandable terms . Even gave me 10% off parts for working through Covid (I wasn’t sure she would remember because the shop was so busy when I came in but she did!). Pricing seemed fair and reasonable. Highly recommend and would go back even though i am no longer in the neighborhood. Felt I was in very good hands. Also chatted with another happy & grateful customer who was in a similar emergency repair situation realizing they could have easily turned me away due to space & time constraints. I took my BMW in for a drivetrain issue and was overall happy with the experience and results. The diagnosis took longer to tackle than I was expecting, which delayed things overall, but Lori at the front desk was super communicative throughout the process, so I knew what was going on and could plan around a little backlog at the shop. They fixed the issue and walked me through the cause, even showed me the broken part that caused the problem when I came to retrieve my vehicle. My car is running better than ever and I’ll be back next time I need any work done. Something else I appreciated was that they didn’t try to sell me on new brakes when they saw that I was within 2mm of the recommended minimum pad thickness. Other places I’ve been try to get you to do work that you don’t quite need just yet, but here they gave some info and didn’t try to squeeze money from me before I the repair is truly needed.

Great experience. This shop troubleshot my check engine light. They determined it was a defective part they had installed a few years earlier. They replaced the oxygen sensor free of charge. I thought I was going to be in for an expensive tune-up, but got charged nothing.

I've been to Downtown Automotive twice. Once for an oil change and a second time to have a flat repaired. The customer service and quality of work was excellent. The level of customer service this time, though, was above-and-beyond. My wife and I found out we had a leak in a tire approximately 5 blocks from their shop on a Saturday night. We had just enough air pressure to make it to their shop, but they were closed. We left our vehicle with a plea not to tow before we arrived at start of business Monday. When we walked by Sunday to check in on the car, the owner was there and kindly invited us in to fill out paperwork and bring the car in the garage so it was protected. The tire was repaired promptly Monday morning and ready for us to pick up by noon. Truly outstanding customer service. We would recommend to all!

Could not recommend this place more! I was in a bind when my catalytic converter was stolen the day before I was supposed to work a job 6 hours away. I went in and explained my situation to Lori and she was on it immediately. They looked at my car right away and got an order in for the parts. Lori even spoke to my insurance company when the estimate they gave me was not nearly enough to cover the damages. They had my car in & out within 4 days (much quicker than the other places I checked who were at least a week out!) and kept me updated the entire time. Lori even took the time to show me the parts before they were installed and explained how and why they needed to be installed. And she was able to refer me to other shops for other work I needed done that Downtown Automotive doesn't do. After being taken advantage of and ripped off by other mechanics in the area multiple times, it was a relief to find a shop that treated me like a human being, show that they cared, and did quality work. I will definitely be back for future repairs!

Had my car sent to Downtown Automotive after hours after it broke down late on a Saturday night. Lori called me when they opened back up, gave me detailed information on the issue and she was very up front about work needed and timelines for the fixes. I needed my rear axle replaced because it had rusted out, they ordered the parts right away and followed up with me frequently. The prices felt reasonable for the work done and I did not feel taken advantage of. Was a pleasure working with Lori to understand the issue with my car and what to look out for in the near future. Will 100% come back here (hopefully won't need to) and recommend it to any friends in need of a reputable mechanic

Everything an auto shop should be. I believe it's run by a couple. Andy does the handy work. I'm not 100% sure of Lori's role/title, but I really appreciated her taking a considerable amount of time to explain the details of the report, and what my options were, in layman's terms. She even followed up with Andy to confirm some things. Prices reflect true value, esp. in light of the quality of their work and turnaround time. They are VERY busy. Probably not your best option if you need last minute assistance but you can try. Wish them continue success.

I started bringing my vehicle here before it was mine, for a pre-purchase inspection. Starting from that first inspection I was given realistic replacement timelines and over time they’ve addressed everything I have needed. I have also gone here for an emergency repair in which I dropped off my car after hours with no issue. Lori and Co. are good at keeping me appraised of costs and timelines, and work with me in making sure repairs are done in a timely way. I’ll be going here for the foreseeable future for this car and any other car I get. Prices seem competitive and service is friendly.

After getting off work today, I realized that my front right tire was completely flat. I really didn't want to put on my spare tire or wait for AAA, since I was short on time. I looked up the nearest repair shop and Downtown Automotive was only a block away. I called them and Lori (the office manager) said that I could just stop by and they might be able to help me out. I pulled up, they put air in my tire, and there weren't any immediate leaks. I had enough air to drive again and they suggested I check in with the Schwab where I bought the tire to see if I should have the tire replaced. They didn't charge for their time either. I really appreciate how they went out of their way to help me out when I was in a bind!

I sputtered to a stop outside their door with a dead alternator stranded downtown. They were more flexible than I'm used to in this state. A guy came straight out with a jump box to help get my car into the garage, and quickly diagnose the problem. They were able to make space in their super backed up schedule to get me serviced and out the door in a day and a half.

Great Customer Service, Ron was responsive and helped me set up an appointment time. Michael was so great!!! He helped me understand what was going on and what they were looking for. I've had many issues with my 2005 Hyundai Elantra and have took it to a couple of shops trying to find a trustworthy mechanic and FINALLY i found them. The price was something I could afford because I had thought I was going to spend a bunch of money.. But I spent less on 02 sensors then having to spend thousands on a whole catalytic converter at the time. Michael did help me price out a new catalytic converter if the the check engine light comes on again and I am good with the price. Well worth the visit.. will be back again!

My daughter broke down in Seattle. We live over an hour away so had her car towed here in the middle of the night based on its reviews. They called us the next day with the estimate. As a female who knows little about car repair (and doesn't care to know), I never look forward to dealing with car service guys, but this place changed my view on that! I called Downtown Automotive the Saturday before my Whistler trip with my Dad (which was the following Wednesday). I asked them to just check all the fluids and make sure it was safe for driving that distance. Told them that the tire still leaked air even though the dealer said it was ok. They did it all for like $50, they were sweet, they were amazing, and they treated me like a person, not a number. They found a nail in the shoulder of the leaky tire and called around to help me find a tire on short notice. They found it with the same dealer I had tried getting it fixed from last time. Irony of all ironies. I offered to have it transferred to them so they could do the work and get the money, but they said thanks but it's no big deal. Anyway, I got the new tire on my car on Sunday. It kinda was a miracle and now I have a new car shop I can really really trust.

Where do I even start!? Downtown Automotive was amazing. I first called to see if they had time to check my brakes. Michol was very kind, professional, and flexible. He told me to bring my truck in and they would take a look right away. When I walked in I was greeted by Ron, also very professional, helpful, and courteous. I got the inspection and the problem was far worse than I thought. Ron not only explained it very clearly to me, but he also asked me if i wanted to see it! I loved that! And it wasnt about trusting what they were telling me was wrong with it (which it didnt hurt to be able to see their integrity right in front of you!), it was helpful to see and understand the damage so I know how to try to avoid it as well. And they were very fast!!! I dropped it off after 1 and was able to pick it up before the end of my workday. They were affordable and worked with me the best that they could. Extremely friendly, honest, and fairly priced. AAA discount. I was in from out of town over a holiday weekend when my alternator began to die. I picked this place initially because it was open on a Saturday and near the event I was attending. Ron was extremely accommodating and somehow managed to fit me in when I couldn't get there before noon and they closed at 4. My car was fixed quickly, and though I got there to pick it up a little after closing time, he stayed to show me how the battery and alternator tested before running my credit card. I told him before the fix to change out the battery if necessary, but it wasn't, and he didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. He even told me what to have checked once I got home, and a second opinion confirmed the error code. Honestly, I wish I lived closer to this place so I could come back next time I have a problem.

I had a great experience with Downtown Automotive. My car wasn't starting and I was unable to nail down a time to go in to the shop, since I didn't know when I would be able to get it jumped. However, they were very flexible and were ready to accommodate me when I was able to jump my car, and even managed to secure a replacement battery in the same day.
