This was truly the best car shop experience I have ever had. I will be going to Ace for all my inevitable future car stuff because of how easy and chill it was. I popped my tire and even though they were super busy, they got me in right away, Chris phone guy was so easy to talk with, they gave me a price that was very reasonable for the job- surprisingly reasonable- fixed up my tire and I got my car back the next day. They also have a really cool giant Jade plant in the shop that adds a great calm vibe. Thank you guys so much!!

This shop is the best. We have been working with them for years and they always take the best care of our vehicles in a very timely manner. There has been an occasional issue with a repair because no one is perfect, but they always handle it quickly, efficiently and with no hassles. Came in with severe stalling issues. They provided excellent, detailed diagnostics, and only fixed what was strictly necessary. They were exceedingly communicative and allowed me to make the calls regarding if I wanted anything else fixed, plus were helpful with explaining recommended services. Some services (headlight replacement, wiper replacement, etc) can be done cheaper by the customer if they know how to, so the diagnostic report was super helpful in that regard. Prior to visiting here, I’d already taken my car in to a different shop for the stalling issue once and, after they failed to fix it, I was pleasantly surprised to find the issue totally resolved after coming here. Definitely plan to come back if I run into anything else—very honest and knowledgeable.

My car was making some loud metal clanking noise whenever I brake or slowing down on my way to work and it’s really stressful finding a repair place around udistrict for a quick fix without prior appointments. I’ve tried calling few places that said walk-in available but were all fully booked at 10am in the morning. Then I found Ace Auto Repair and met Trevor and Chris, who were straightforward and efficient. My car was able to checked out by 3p same day, and they have this brilliant report system with photos and details. Highly recommend!

After nursing along a flat tire for a couple days I texted Ace at 7:20 am last Friday. They promptly responded and saw me right after opening. They did not have my unique tire in the shop, but were able to get it in a late morning delivery and I was back in my car by 1pm! (For comparison, my dealership service dept offered their first opening 5 days later and wouldn't guarantee that the tire would be changed the same day.) Communication and follow-up was great - I will definitely be back for any other car needs!

They replaced door switch and got rid of a pesky problem of people getting stuck in the car. Also did rear suspension. They communicate very well and repairs were done in a timely fashion. In addition after the first repair the window for that door stopped working. We took it back and they fixed that issue with no charge.

Woke up to a flat tire, puncture in the tread. Put on a spare and drove over to Ace, my first time using them. I pulled into the lot, plenty of space to park my car. Went into the office, took about 5 minutes to enter my info with Chris. He got me a quote at a very reasonable price in a couples of minutes. Unloaded my tire and drove home. A few hours later got a call letting me know the tire was fixed. Drove back and they got the tire back on in about 15 minutes—didn't charge for any extra labor there. Mechanic even took the extra time to check tire pressure and fill my other tires, including the spare. Dave, the owner, followed up the next day to made sure there were no issues with the repair. In general a very smooth and transparent process. Everyone was nice and the work was efficient. I will definitely come back to ace for future servicing on my 2012 honda crv.

Got a flat and discovered the tire had become unseated from the rim. Brought it in another car for a walk in sometime in the afternoon and the staff there welcomed me and assured me they could help. They took the tire and gave me a quick rundown of what they would need to do which would be a pretty easy and cheap fix. Although they couldn’t get to it that day, they told me I was first in line for the morning walk ins, and before I had even arrived at work the next morning, they called and let me know that it was all fixed. They also offered to put it back on my car for me. I really appreciated their genuine desire to help and friendly service!

They quoted me the price for repair and told me what to expect in case the tire needed to be replaced. I got a call just a few hours later that they were done. A friend suggested I get my car repaired here when I had an emergency and I was impressed. Fair price, perfect repair and a fast turnaround--even though they seem to be on the super busy side. A couple years/repairs later, I am even more blown away. The consistency and commitment here has got to be the best in the Seattle area. Probably not the place if you're scraping around the bottom of the barrel for a discounted/bargain repair, but if you're looking to get the job done perfectly every-time, you'll probably come back be here year after year too.

They do good work, but don't expect honesty when it comes to work your car actually needs. Back in September, I was told my front brakes were at 3mm and needed to be replaced asap and was quoted $500 or so. Today I took my car to another autoshop and was told there's six months left of life. Like many auto shops, ace likes to upsell on things you don't need yet. This is why it's imperative to go to a mechanic one can trust to be transparent and honest.

As the owner of a '95 Nissan pickup you may surmise that I also have a fairly lengthy record of repairs, parts replacement, oil changes, etc. Since '99 all of these were effected by me or by a locally established shop that subsequently underwent a number ownership changes and commensurate policy changes. As many of you know, voicing/lodging complaints is among the top five favorite all inclusive sports in Seattle, therefore I won't shine a critical light on that other shop located in the upper U-district. Suffice to say it lost its charm along with its customer service acumen. That brings me to the start of using Ace's technical services which began before the Covid scourge (from which I will spare you), to the relevant part of this review which begins just after the new year and ends near the tail end of May '22. Without going into inordinate detail (or unnecessarily further), my experience and the borne-out results of Ace's technicians repairing and maintaining a twenty-eight year old truck have been no less than excellent. After a starter replacement, an unrelated performance loss occurred which lead to head scratching for being elusive to readily reproduce (yes, some discussion ensued), yet this was figured out and repaired with a warning as to the wear of the transmission; and, while the truck's performance was stellar, the transmission went from sounding like a grouchy cigar smoker to an indolent rock tumbler. In both cases Trevor had to hunt down parts and, in the case of the transmission, a rebuild. This, along with two wheels– a tangential matter which forced me to confront my recalcitrance about the transmission– and many patient, if not indulgent, conversations around the best tire choice based on my driving conditions and responsibilities, the necessary repairs and replacements were made. The 4x4 Nissan XE returned to me sounded and performed as well as the day I drove it off the lot in '95. What’s more, the Cooper Discoverer AT 4S XLs have performed brilliantly on many and highly varied terrains, and the ride has never been as smooth: with Trevor's gentle shepherding it was the best choice I could have made for my circumstances. What I needed to have done happened while accounting for my knowledge of and experience with the truck, and without disregarding my inexpert opinion and performance concerns. And, yes there was some laughter along the way. Do I recommend these folks to help you with your car's repairs? Without exception; but, judge for yourselves.

Dave and his crew at Ace Auto Repair are truly fantastic. I am new to the area and finding an good automotive shop can be daunting. I chose to give Ace a try based off of the glowing reviews left by others. I brought my Jeep in for an oil change, and had a few minor concerns. After dropping my vehicle off I received a link from the technician with details regarding my vehicles service including a bumper to bumper inspection. They even put a little gas in my tank so I could make it to a gas station (someone had siphoned my gas prior to my appointment). These guys went above and beyond! I highly recommend giving them a try and I will definitely be back.

I've been using this shop for my aging Jeep for many years, and they are always professional and courteous. They do good work at a reasonable price. I have two examples of when they went above and beyond. Once I left my car for them to diagnose a sound coming from the axle. He called me to say they figured it out and I could come pick up. Told him I'd start walking, and he instead drove down to my house to pick me up and gave me the details of the noise on the drive back to the shop. That was great. During that drive, he said he noticed I have a spare battery in the car and said that my brake light switch was stuck on, which was probably what was causing my battery to die. Tested the original for me and it was good. Saved me a battery replacement. Then on top of that, when I said I'd fix the switch myself there were three guys out there showing me the tricks, showed which fuse to pull to keep it from draining in the meantime. I can do a lot of work on the jeep myself, but when I need something I always go to Ace.

I called Ace about 15 minutes to closing. I explained to Dave, who answered the phone, that I was about 10 minutes away. I asked if he could check out my tire before closing. Dave said in a friendly voice to come on in. He greeted me with a smile. I was stressed about the situation and Dave was confident that he could have the tire fixed the next day. I got a text at 11:30 am the next morning that my tire was fixed. I headed there right after work but knew I was going to get there very close to closing time. Dave called me 5 minutes to closing to make sure I knew my car was ready and I told him I would barely make it before closing because I got off late. He said he would be there. Dave made my stressful not very stressful. The tire is great! I would definitely recommend them and come back for my car repairs again.

The shop is very friendly, although the work completed is not quality. I had a rear main seal replaced on my Jeep and after 4000 miles it started leaking again. Both warranties they offer do not cover seals and gaskets. The craftsmanship here is poor coming from a fellow mechanic, as they broke my exhaust bolts upon the removal of the oil pan where I had to pay for an extra amount for the lower exhaust piping. I would go here for tires and oil changes although, I would highly suggest major work on your vehicle made at a dealership where the work can be more extensively covered.

My Jeep was experiencing engine performance issues and the check engine light came on. I took my Jeep to ACE. Elijah was great and had my vehicle checked in fast. As a result of the engine light diagnostic check, it was revealed I had to have 3 coils replaced, spark plugs and wires replaced and fuel induction service. All the maintenance was performed at a great price!! 👍🏽👍🏽 The Jeep runs like new. The staff is professional, personable and courteous. Will be my go to place for all my future car maintenance!!!

I’ve had a few repairs done on my Ford Flex at Ace. The crew have always been informative and done a great job. They’re honest, less expensive than the dealer and quicker to get into. When attempting to start my car yesterday, I somehow triggered the anti-theft when I only partially turned the key. I attempted to start the car at least 10 times to no avail. Today I was about to have it towed when I finally got it to turn over, but barely. I drove it straight to Ace. They said they’d take a look and do a diagnostic. After explaining to Elijah what happened with trying to start the vehicle he said it sounded like the anti theft was triggered. Sure enough he was right. He did multiple test starts to ensure it was fine. Within 5 min I was in and out. I’m so appreciative of a small business that I can trust to handle all my car needs. These guys are the best!

Great service! I brought my 10 year old car in for a spa day that included checking out my squeeky brakes, an oil change, air filter, windshield wipers, and 4 new tires in advance of a road trip. These guys took the time to get an understanding about what kind of conditions I'll be driving in, the differences between various classes of tires, and various price points within my budget. We decided to check the brakes first, and this is when I knew these guys are legit: instead of trying to sell me an entire brake system with rotors, pads, labor costs, etc, the squeek went away with just a good cleaning of the surface areas! A less reputable shop would have tried to sell me brakes. The basic maintenance was done and we ordered tires; after picking up my car, it felt like a whole new ride with new tires - better traction and handling was immediately noticable. I'll be driving cross country soon, and I can't wait to see how my gas mileage improves with these 4 new baby's rolling tough! With a 3500 mile drive around the corner, these folks delivered peace of mind within my budget. I hope they treat you as well as they treated me!

The first time I went to ACE was when Costco quoted me $1300 to replace all 4 of my tires when even I knew my one popped tire was repairable I just didn’t have the time. I took my car to ACE and not more than 5 minutes later, Elijah came out to tell me it would cost me $30 to repair the tire and it would be as good as new. This time, the dealership quoted me $900 to repair my VVT Solenoid and when I took it to ACE, Dave quoted me $354 to do the same job. Once they opened up my car they realized there was a world of rodent damage that the dealership apparently never noticed because they never cared to open up my car and actually diagnose the problems I was having. They definitely would’ve charged me exponentially more once they found it. Long story short, ACE has been transparent, professional, and honest when it has come to the repairs my car genuinely needs. While other shops and dealerships are going to try and scam you out of your money, ACE does a great job at truly providing the services required. Dave was communicative and checked in daily to update me on my repairs and on my insurance claim and even followed up a week later to make sure everything was running the way it needs to. Beyond pleased with my experience here and I will continue being a loyal customer as long as I’m here!

Ace Auto Repair & Tire Pros provided me an excellent experience and repairs beyond expectations. Dave, the manager, makes it all happen. After I dropped the car off at the shop, he said he'll have it assessed and let me know the next day. To my surprise, he called me the same day and explained what was needed, provided an estimate for repairs and time I can expect to get the car. Well, they finished the work one day ahead and the actual cost was lower than the estimate. The three that made me so happy are: One, Dave kept me updated on my car/repairs if anything changed. We've been going to another local garage for years. They're great, super friendly, fast and honest but they're a small boutique outfit with only a few stalls and a long list of clients. Therefore, they can charge a premium. We needed a ton of work done on a car we just bought and when I got the estimate from these guys, I about fell out of my chair. I decided we needed to get a second opinion so we dropped by Ace with the estimate we'd been given and asked what it would cost to get the work done there instead. Dave, the owner was super friendly and was happy to have a look. He got back promptly with a price that was about A THIRD LESS than my usual garage. They also pointed out a couple things the other guys had flagged that upon inspection, they didn't think really needed to be done. We decided to give them a shot. We were getting ready for a family road trip and I asked my wife to go to the tire store near our house and get the tires rotated. During the rotation it was pointed out that we had a worn strut and leaky shocks and we received a quote for the job. I was not prepared for that kind of expense although the vehicle (2006 Honda Odyssey) is almost 10 years old with 93K miles on it. I had recently been made aware of Ace Auto so I figured I would give them a call to see if they could squeeze us in and provide a better quote than the local tire shop. They are a bit of a drive for me but I am glad I made the call. I spoke with Dave who gave me a quote which was lower than the tire store so we found a time that would work on our schedule. Once the vehicle was in the shop I received a call from Dave who let me know that I required a few more items to be serviced. Many people think that auto repair shops just nickel and dime them with little items just to make a buck (I'm one of those people) but I would like to say that I am happy that Dave called me about these items because these were items I had previously put off due to being laid off of my job at the time when they were due and I had completely forgotten about them. This was confirmation to me that it was not a nickel and dime job because they were the exact items that I had previously put off to get done at another time. Dave knew I was already a bit stretched with the cost of the shock/strut/alignment job but he did the right thing by letting me know the truth. I know this was a long post, but thought it necessary in order to give the complete picture of my satisfaction. We took our family road trip and the vehicle is driving quite a bit nicer than before the work! I don't plan on having this vehicle in the shop often, but when I do it is worth the drive for this kind of quality service. Thanks Ace!

I new my rear brakes were bad. My mechanic had moved to Bainbridge and he was the only person I trusted with my car. I called to ask for a quote and was told I needed to come in for an inspection... I know from experience that if a mechanic deems your car “unsafe” they cannot give you your car without the bare minimum repairs. I was moving the next day and needed to wait a few weeks. Again I asked for the worst case scenario quote just to be prepared. He said I needed to come in. I rushed from work for my inspection and met the owner Dave who confirmed my original thought that he cannot mount my car for an inspection unless I was prepared to leave it for repair based on my description of the problem. Needless to say, I was upset. I rushed from work after a 50 hour work week and essentially wasted my time. Dave was polite and apologetic and even fixed my burnt out brake light. He gave me the worst case scenario quote I asked for and I told I appreciated his kindness and honesty him I’d be back as soon as I can. Fast forward 2 weeks later and me afraid to drive I called and booked a same day appointment. Chris made sure to get me in and my care was fixed ASAP. They did an inspection on my car and was given a treatment plan which included a tune up (which I knew I needed) and head gaskets for my engine. Again the presentation by Dave was honest and not pushy. I feel safe behind the wheel and now have a new mechanic that I trust. Thank you Dave and Chris for all your help! ☺️

Second time to Ace Auto. First time I chose it because of all the great reviews and the second time was because the 5 star reviews are accurate and the first trip was exceptional. Dave was great in explaining what was needed to my truck and getting it done. You'll see that Dave responds to all reviews and wants to do what is needed to make all of them 5 stars. After picking up my tires and wheels I went for a test drive on the freeway, night and day difference. 99% of the shimmy and shake at freeway speeds is gone! Glad I found a shop willing to help out. Hands down this place has the most caring, positive customer service I have ever encountered! About 3 weeks ago I brought my car in with an issue. The guy who worked with me J.J. was very positive, friendly and above all, he REALLY took the time to not only explain to me and educate me on what exactly they were doing but he even took me to my car to visually show me what was going on. I really felt welcomed and cared for at the shop. Then this morning, I had to take my car in again for something that I originally thought was related but as it turns out it was unrelated and they just went ahead and took care of it for me but it wasn't just the effort they put into my car. I love this place! They're always super friendly and very helpful. I came in last month with one flat tire and another tire leaking air, so I had all of my tires replaced. And as my luck will have it, and got ANOTHER flat tire within weeks of having them replaced. I was able to drop off my flat tire, and they had it replaced for only the cost of labor. I was worried I'd have to buy a whole new tire, but they did that for me! Bonus because it's conveniently located to me, and there are many food places in the area of you're hungry and need to wait. These guys were super helpful. I came in for new tires and they asked if there was anything else wrong with the vehicle. There was a weird sound coming from a belt or a bearing that had just started happening a few weeks before. It was not the alternator that a different shop told me it was, because after getting that switched out, it was still making that noise. So I said to check that out. They called back and said it was the drive belt tensioner. They also said I really needed some new shocks and struts. After getting everything fixed in one day. He told me it was going to feel like driving a new car. He was totally right!!! I had no idea there was that much wrong with my car. I could tell a massive difference right away. The service provided was satisfactory and well-priced. However, I’m extremely hesitant to return to Ace during the COVID-19 pandemic as none of the staff wore masks while interacting with myself and other customers. I would not expect the mechanics to wear masks while in the shop, but was very surprised that no masks or sanitary precautions were implemented while in the office with customers. As I will need further work done on my car in the next month, I will be going to an auto shop where masks are worn. When masks are no longer recommended by the CDC, I may consider returning to Ace.

My car, a Mazda 6, had several issues: engine light was on, bad rear shock and needed brake service. I dropped my car off and got a call back from Dave that morning. Flat fixed and TPMS reprogrammed for winter tires for less than $30. Also the coffee is excellent. And I'm welcome back even after spilling the excellent coffee all over the service desk. 😀 Review update (this deserves its own review but Google doesn't appear to support more than one review by one user). Our Gen1 Chevy Volt experienced a common (about the only common problem for these cars which are otherwise nearly flawless) problem with a front axle producing a clicking sound that presumably will lead to trouble if left unattended. The repair procedure for this is notoriously tricky, apparently because tolerances for the part itself are very tight. Ace on Lake City did the repair and (as frequently happens with an official dealer repair on the same part) the clicking reappeared. Cheerfully and with no hesitation or quizzing etc. Ace had us bring the car back in, with extremely fast turnaround limited only by how fast the part could arrive at the shop (not long). This must have been a particularly twitchy assembly because to our surprise the problem came up again. Again, no hesitation on Ace's part, no quibbling, just "get her in right away and we'll make it right." All this work without an additional dime of expense on our part and very little loss of use of the vehicle. It just doesn't get any better-- it can't because there's no way all of this could have happened faster and with less hassle. Extraordinary. And I'm happy to report that subsequently the noise has not returned, quite a few thousand miles later as this car is now living in Texas after having been driven there and quite a few miles since. Hats off to the guys at the Lake City Ace Auto shop. :-)

I arrived at Ace after walking out of a big name tire store due to being told it could take two hours for them to check my tire. Ace was very friendly told me they could look at it right away. They quickly had a diagnosis as a leaky valve stem/ tps unit and it would be just a ten dollar part. Five minutes later my car was done and they didn't even charge me for the part. He came back before doing the work to let me know one tire was showing significant wear. I had a total check up at the dealer some months ago and changed 3 of the 4 tires because the 4th still had notable life and the bill was already running over 2k. Dave said I could still drive on it for a bit but driving 1100 miles to LA, I didn't think was worth the risk so I had him order the tire. He said he would order the same model to match. The next day he explained there are 3 models within the model because Yokohama makes 3 different tires for the prius V. For me there was little enough difference between them to forego the one he received. He didn't normally stock Yokohamas so he had to research it before calling. I really appreciate the time and care he took before calling me to offer to send it back. I went in to get the work done and he showed me on the machine that there was something up with one of my tires. He showed me that the numbers were within tolerance but one was a little tweaked but still within normal limits. It was a heads up to watch that one and because he could not adjust it just right it might still pull ever so slightly. Dave is the owner and he serviced my car personally. I would highly recommend Ace Auto to anyone. Dave is fanatically honest, keeps an immaculate shop and is just the nicest person I've met in Seattle.

My car broke down right in front of Ace while I was on my way to Discount Tires to get my tires replaced. Dave informed me that there would be a $90 diagnosis fee, but that I would get $45 back if I decided to get my repairs threre. As it turns out there was just moisture in my distributor and so nothing needed to be replaced or changed. However, I got a quote for the tires that I wasn't originally going to get there and was also told I needed an alignment. So I went ahead and got the alignment and tires done. When I went back to pick up my car they originally forgot to charge me for the tires, but I went back in to have them charge me for them. I asked for my $45 back but was told that they wouldn't credit me that because it was a different issue. I'm annoyed that they refused to credit me back the $45, because I could've chosen to just pay the diagnosis charge and not have gotten the tires or alignment done, leaving them out of $230. I understand they did some work but the point of that credit is that the customer is already going to have to pay for other parts.

I needed new tires, Ace was close to my house, and they were open on Saturdays, so I went in for a quote. JJ gave me a couple options and explained the pros and cons of each one clearly without any pressure or up selling. I prefer to support local businesses, but I also thought that a franchise of a large tire company might have better prices, so I also got a quote from one. Comparable tires there were $21 more each, and installation added on another $7.50 per tire, for a total of over $100 more, plus all kinds of other upsells I didn't need. I called Ace back to order tires before I even left the other store's parking lot. I was pleasantly surprised that I could "come in any time after 9:30" instead of having to meet a particular time slot. When I brought my car in, there was no wait at all to get the work started. Unfortunately, once it was up on the lift, they found that a wheel bearing needed to be replaced. JJ took me out into the shop and let me see it for myself instead of just telling me to trust him. That was a pricey part, and I was on a tight budget, however, JJ offered to just replace the wheel bearing (an immediate safety issue) even though they had special ordered the tires for me. I decided to go ahead and get it all done at once, and they assigned two guys to work on the car so that they could still get it out in time for me to get to work. I paid a fair price and left with a good warranty, a safe car, and helpful knowledge about what work should be done in the future. I'm not sure I've ever before had a mechanic tell me that something wasn't urgent and could be dealt with at my convenience instead of pressuring me to shell out more money on the spot. I will definitely come back to Ace in the future.

Stopped in near closing time with a burnt out headlight lamp. Dave asked if I could wait thirty minutes or come back tomorrow. He saud he ordered the bulb and it would be there in a half hour. We decided on replacing both bulbs. Waited in a nice waiting area. Part came and only one bulb showed up. Dave replaced bulb said the other would be in tomorrow and I'll adjust the bill. Went in today for second bulb. Excellent service and a unexoected touch to adjust the bill.

On an out of town trip through Seattle, I started noticing a whistling sound each time I went up hill or accelerated to pass. I pulled in to Ace Auto Repair on Saturday. Even though they were already busy with other vehicles, Dave had his mechanic Chris take my truck for a drive. Chris found the problem to be a faulty clamp causing an air leak. While under the hood they also noticed my serpentine belt was old and starting to crack. They replaced both the clamp and belt, and within an hour I was back on the road!
