This Honest 1 location is always so busy, but are incredibly efficient. Scheduling is always a quick less than 2 minute phone call. The front staff really takes the time to explain if there were any problems found during inspection. My car's license plate was in my front windshield due to not having a mounting bracket. They installed it for me during my oil change with no change and I never even mentioned it! Great place I plan on continuing to use with no desire going anywhere else.

Every time I need a car service, I go to Marc at Honest-1 Auto in uptown Minneapolis. He’s always real with me and listens to the concerns we may have. When in a rough situation I recommended my cousin to them and they gave her the truth and didn’t charge an arm and a leg like she was quoted somewhere else. I never feel like I’m being taken advantage of for not knowing much about cars, being a woman and not that interested in them. Outstanding service and transparency. They really are the honest ones.

Been coming here for a while for servicing, and my friend has as well. They always do an excellent job! They might not be the dirt cheapest but they're reasonably priced and you really get what you pay for with these guys. They've always been, kind, and well ... honest! And service is real quick Even brought my car in once for a real hard to diagnose issue, went with a ride with a tech and everything and we still couldn't figure it out without starting to replace parts. Despite insisting on paying some kind of diagnostic fee they refused haha. If you're shopping around reading reviews for auto shops, this is it.

I came in with some issues with my tires. Honest-1 was quick and professional, saying they could order the brand of tires that were on it or I could get comparable value or a fraction of the cost through something they personally use. It’s been several weeks and I do not regret their recommendation!

The guys over here really care about there customers. They get the job done. I unfortunately had to bring the SUV to them 3 times in 4months for major repairs (all unrelated my negligence). They put the SUV back on the road everytime. They listent and if you request find everything out about your vehicle. I recommend doing that, ask them to check everything g so you can be prepared and do preventive maintenance. Don't forget to take advantage of their discounts and coupons on the website. Andrew and Mike will get you squared away.

Went in with an unpleasant knocking and rattling noise. Diagnosis was done within a few hours. Major repairs including new front and read struts, drive arm, and springs all finished by the end of the next business day. These guys are the best. Always willing to help, and will never you charge you on something to make a quick buck. I brought them an estimate from another larger repair shop estimating a couple thousand in repairs. After they reviewed and inspected the vehicle they found that none of it was actually necessary. I was stranded downtown Minneapolis- Andrew answered my call &walked me through what I should do. Within 1/2 an hour a tow truck was dispatched to grab me and my car (tow company partners w/them)-I was so relieved I didn't have to leave the keys under the floor mat or behind a tire. They allow people to ride with you truck back to shop. Honest Auto diagnosed cars' problem same day. I received a text with pictures& estimate and approved then scheduled the work. They are so reasonably priced and significantly cheaper than other places. I am so impressed! I am forever grateful customer of theirs!

Oil change was routine but I warned of potential leakage due to a faulty part. A few days later, engine oil was leaking. I had to replace the oil pan which was expected but I was charged $150 for hourly and disposal charges So they made money on me for 2 oil changes in 2 weeks and charged me $150 in labor for a mechanic that can't predict leakage and safety. I don't mind paying the price..but don't charge me $150 hourly labor and disposal charges to cover your poor mechanic performance and judgement. That's just lame.

I had a good experience with Honest-1. They were fast and informative. I came in for a tire repair and oil change. When the tire repair did not go as planned, they gave me good advice on next steps. In a follow up, I had an emergency repair needed and they managed to get me in and get the work done ASAP! I really appreciate how they worked to keep me informed through the process, it gave me confidence that in the job they were doing!

They took my car in when I had mistakenly made my appointment for another Honest1 location, got to it that day she called within a couple hours to let me know the diagnosis. They explained everything that was wrong then got started fixing it right away. My car was there for less than a day and they replaced the front brakes, and rear wheel bearings. They were fast, very friendly and informative! They also made using the coupons that are online super easy, no hassle. Definitely recommend.

I had Honest-1 Auto Care on Lyndale look at a car because I was unsure about one that I had recently bought. It had a return policy and the guys did the inspection for $50 something. They not only looked at something about the tires but they also noted some really important information like signs of flood damage. I ended up returning the car and will definitely be back to have them look at another purchase I make. 1 star off because they really didn't have the time to do the service I had set up for until the next day but I'm glad I stuck it out and had them look at it. I really don’t want this to be a negative review however I spent way too much for the services I received, I had to get my brake light fixed and then they charged me 87 for that and a brake inspection. Then come to find out I needed new brakes and rotors which okay fine that’s fine whatever. But I brought my car in at my appointment at noon and it took them four hours just to work on it, I had a lot of things to do and work so I wasted an entire day when I thought it’d only be half a day, I think they’re very overpriced and misleading but at least my car is fixed. Maybe just ask questions about pricing before getting scheduled maintenance done, nice sweet customer service I just felt like the brake job was unnecessary and overpriced.

I’ve been to honest 1 for everything from oil changes($), to brake service, to suspension and door actuator replacement($$$). Have always felt well taken care of both in terms of timely service and transparency. Never felt pressured to get more work done than necessary and they even called to double check parts and service before high dollar repairs took place. I recommend them, especially if you live in the neighborhood as the location is great.

I have never had to wait more than a couple days for an appointment. Marc always very friendly and professional. They were very professional and got my battery switched out the same day. They also did a diagnostic on my car and sent me additional things that needed repair along with pictures in a text message. This went a long way in making me feel comfortable as everyone has that story of putting their car in the shop and having them tell you you need a million things done but it’s completely different when they show you pictures so you can see what they see. I would highly recommend honest-1 to anyone in need of trustworthy, quick and reasonably priced service on their vehicles.

After having some horrible experiences with other mechanics, a friend recommended these folks years ago. They have always been very transparent, easy to work with us, never overpromised/ under performed, and their pricing has been consistently better than other quotes. Moved out of the area so went to a different mechanic closer to me. Terrible. Awful. Bad idea. I will forever make the schlep to work with these guys because they have treated me well for years. Mechanics are one of those folks as when you find a good one you don’t let them go. These guys are keepers

I love this place because of how upfront and honest they are about things. I took my old 2017 car to get an oil change there and they found no issues with it (most places try to sell me on something during an oil change). I just took my new 2013 car there for an oil change and they sent me a detailed list of things I needed to get done in a few months, but they were very upfront with the timeline and cost of things. They even included pictures of their report. Overall, I'm incredibly thankful to have found an honest auto shop.

I had heard of Honest-1 from my neighbor who had gone in for an oil change and they found four serious issues, which they presented to him & installed for him at an extremely fair cost. Then when he told them he was told he needed to have his rotors changed out, they checked it out & said they were good & didn't need replacing. At that point I knew the word honest wasn't just a word to bring people in ...it was a description of how they operated that business. I discovered that I had been swindled when I bought a car on Marketplace. My frame was rotted out & they covered it along with broken parts with black plastic ...zip-stripped it over the problem areas. Honest-1 thought they might be able to fix it & spent hours inspecting & tearing it down until they discovered they couldn't. They then put it all back together and didn't charge me a cent, instead apologizing for not being able to help me out. Honesty is a great asset as a individual & even a greater one as a business. any time i have issues with a vehicle i go to this honest one location. the people are really nice and i’ve always felt i was treated very well. i drove a real beater for a while and they were always honest about all the things wrong with it but were considerate when making repairs so that i was safe on the road but not breaking my budget.

Outstanding, by far exceeded my expectations. I just got my vehicle towed to the nearest shop from where I broke down and even on the way there, the tow truck man said he's been at his job for 21 years and assured me this was one of the best places to bring a vehicle to. I didn't even have time to call ahead before being towed there and they still got me in for a diagnosis and my problems fixed the same day. I was expecting them to be at least a week or 2 out like my regular mechanic's shop. Definitely considering making this my new main place to go. Extremely friendly and professional. Not to mention fast and thorough. My vehicle has never ran so good, I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Also - I grabbed some stuff from my vehicle while they worked on it including my work shoes and I left them inside the office there at honest-1 and they found them and put them in the back room where they wouldn’t be taken and let me come pick them up. They’re great people.

I’m sitting at like 3.7 stars out of 5. This is a franchise auto shop in uptown Minneapolis. I called with an issue I thought was brakes. It was a bearing and I got a $480 quote on it. For 1 bearing. It was overpriced but they got it in with no appointment. They also recommended other things that they felt had to be fixed but that’s all part of there training I’m guessing. They are trained to maximize profit at all times. Than again they could have said my brakes were bad too. So right there is a clear form of honesty. At the end of the day they provided quality service last minute and my truck is fixed. Definitely overpriced but not insanely overpriced. Would go back if I had to in an emergency situation. But only if it was an emergency.

If I could rate higher than 5 stars I would. These guys aren’t crooks like you find most places. They actually tried to save me as much money as possible. I had a complicated issue that could potential cost a couple hundred dollars to diagnose at a different shop (I know that because I was quoted). Instead of taking apart everything like I was told was probably going to have to happen, they tested my battery and did a bunch of research. I gave them a hard time at first because they didn’t want to continue diagnostics until I put in a new battery. They said it would save me a bunch of money and they were right! The battery is what was causing the fault. They could have made hundreds off of me and they didn’t. I respect them a lot for that and I recommend them to anyone who wants an honest mechanic.

They never tried to up-sell me, which is something I almost always experience at other body shops. There were several issues that they found with my car, but with my tight budget in mind they helped me map everything out in terms of time-sensitivity. I felt very reassured in the repair plan they helped me to create to make sure we took care of the absolute necessities first, and then saved the less-pertinent repairs for a time in the future. I scheduled a drop off appointment for a routine oil change - I ended being an hour late to my appointment on accident. They were very understanding and still took my vehicle. I appreciated how transparent they were about their pricing, I inquired about a tire rotation and they gave me a quote beforehand. I had to get an air filter replaced and they gave me a courtesy call and text to ask if I wanted it done and included the additional cost. Took a few hours, but all in all very great customer service experience. Would recommend.

Had some mysterious noises coming from two separate issues with my car. I’d previously brought my vehicle to another shop for one of the noises and they weren’t able to find and fix the issue. This shop did and fixed it very quickly! It didn’t cost me much either, which is a gigantic plus. Very affordable, kind, quick. Will definitely be coming back!

They live up to their name! UPDATE*** Been going here for 3 years and couldn't imagine going somewhere else. I looked for some time for my go-to shop that will take care of me with integrity and excellence. After many many trips with two different cars, I can say that they have exceeded expectations. I send everyone I know to them. Price-wise they are fair and reasonable. In the past, I could scourge the internet to find someone to do something a little cheaper but I paid in other ways like quality. Honest-1 Uptown has the nice balance of having prices set to be a viable business while not breaking the bank for us and providing a quality product. Mark and Andrew and awesome managers as well as the amazing team of technicians.

Came in for an oil change. Was treated decently. However, I also wanted an issue with the remote start looked at. After the oil change, I chatted with the mechanic for a bit, and while he had tested the battery, he had no idea I was concerned about the remote start. He said if he'd known, he would have run a diagnostic for free. I'm disappointed about the lack of communication, as I could possibly have this long-standing issue sorted. Now I'll have to pursue a solution elsewhere.

I was driving through Uptown when my beloved 2020 GMC Sierra went into "limp mode," where the engine power is reduced, and about 5 different warnings came across my display. I limped the truck into Honest-1 and it was diagnosed the same day. Unfortunately, the brakes had experienced and issue and wore down through the rotors and damaged the calipers. Honest-1 sent me photos right away. Since the vehicle is newer, the went out of their way to get the parts from various dealers and had the whole thing done within a few days despite the shipping. The GMC dealer was 2 weeks out for even an appointment. Marc and the crew at Honest 1 saved my tail. Thank you!

I have tried three other mechanics in the Twin Cities since moving here years ago. I never felt I could trust the others. I took my old car here for a couple of oil changes, and I liked them. Then that car, which was older, needed to repaired. After dropping it off, they called me and told me that they would happily do the repair, but they advised against it. They told me that if they fixed it, it may drive for many more miles, but they also said that with that kind of issue there’s a strong likelihood that it would break down again. They recommended a new car. The fact that they didn’t just do the repair and collect a bill spoke volumes. Since then, I’ve had several other pleasant interactions, and I love that I can often get my car in for a last-minute oil change without having to schedule it out. The reason I was prompted to write this review today because I went to top off my engine coolant. My light came on the day before, so I drove down and asked them if they could do it. He got up from behind the front desk, grabbed some coolant, and helped me right on the spot. It didn’t need much, so he told me no charge. This is the kind of service that has kept me coming back for years, and it’s why I keep recommending them to friends who are new to the area and are looking for a new mechanic. (Less related to their capability as mechanics, but I also think the HRC’s LGBT equality sign on the front window says something about the quality of people here. Honest and inclusive; good for business!)

I live in Rochester. My car died up in Minneapolis. If we hadn't found this place, I hate to think what the cost of having my car towed to a business, looked at, & fixed (at least the basics I needed to get it back on the road quickly). I would recommend this place hands down, if anyone I know were to break down in Minneapolis. It would have cost me much more to have it towed to Rochester to have it looked at. The cost to get it running again would have probably been double what it cost there. I enjoyed the text sent to me telling me what was right with my car & what they found wrong, along with details in layman's terms. Also, a huge thanks for dealing with the towing when we came in to see what the possibilities were they could help us. It was a great experience. Even though they couldn’t assist in completing the necessary repairs, they still took the time to do as much as their shop could technically allow for with the equipment they had. They were able to get to my car same day and I was able to get enough information then to share with the next shop that will be better equipped to handle my vehicle. I definitely appreciate the convenience and professional level of service here. I called the day before the 4th of July because I was having issues with my brakes. I didn’t think they’d get me in but was surprised with the “Absolutely, we’ll get to it today!” from Andrew at the front desk. Not only did they give me updates on my car, they also were able to FIX 1 out of 2 issues the SAME DAY! Seriously fast and efficient. Four stars given because the price was not within my budget. They will go above and beyond your expectations here, which is great, but I was not given any options that would possibly be more affordable like some shops give. I have a 2005 Corolla, I value my safety, and I take pride in caring for my vehicle, but didn’t expect to invest over $1400 in repairs for an older car. Bottom line: super efficient, friendly staff, excellent updates/communication, extra convenient in a pinch, but I’d recommend shopping around a bit if you have an older ride with a non-urgent repair

I stopped in for an alignment but had a general inspection done just to be safe. Turns out I had a severe issue I wasn't aware of that needed an immediate remedy. An although it was significantly more than I originally went in assuming I would have to pay, they threw in the alignment at no cost since I was a new customer. The repairs took just shy of what was estimated time wise and I was back in the road work a safer car at less than it would've cost probably most other places. Highly recommended!

Great place!! We have visited several times while shopping for a new car to take each candidate to have a used vehicle inspection before we would purchase it. We came back a few times because they kept helping us to not purchase a lemon and let us know when we found a real bargain on a solid car! The staff were always friendly, the mechanics seemed knowledgeable, they brought us into the back a few times so we could see the underbody of the car and pointed out everything that was good or bad about what was there. The prices seemed very reasonable and a $50 inspection let us know that a few cars would need thousands of dollars in work immediately or that it had an irreplaceable windshield or was WAY too rusty for its age and milage... In short, our visits saved us a bunch of money and we were able to eventually but with confidence when we got a bargain on a car. Thanks Honest One, we'll be back again for more work down the road!

I live in St. Louis Park and have a 2006 Pontiac G6 which I originally purchased new. I was hearing a rattle from the front passenger-side when going over bumps, train tracks, potholes, etc. On Friday, I called the GM dealership in Apple Valley where I typically go for oil changes and car repairs (who's service has been steadily going downhill). They told me that they couldn't get me in until Wednesday, that they didn't do diagnostic checks or work like this on Saturdays (not even next Saturday), and that they wouldn't give me a loaner vehicle until they took an hour or two to look at it first. With my long drive, this meant that I couldn't drop it off unless I scheduled time off from work. On Saturday morning, I called Honest-1 Auto Care on Lyndale and explained the rattling noise I was hearing. They said to stop by, and they could at least take a look at it. When I arrived, the mechanic took it for a test drive, put my car in the lift, showed me that it was the right, outer, tie-rod end, and compared it to the driver's side (which was fine) to show me the difference. This is my first time visiting Honest-1 Auto Care on Lyndale, and it's the best and fastest service I've received in years. It took about fifteen minutes to diagnose and explain the issue, and they fixed it in about two hours the same day. The last time I took time off from work, went to the GM dealership in Apple Valley, and told them about the same issue, they charged me to replace the stabilizer link (which was the wrong part) and the rattling issue persisted. When I tried to reschedule with the dealership to look at it again, they gave me the run-around. Thanks Honest-1 Auto Care on Lyndale for your fast, direct, and courteous service! You left the dealership in the dust, and I'll be returning to you for all of my auto service in the future.

Great experience! I live in Uptown and walk by the location frequently but was unsure of prices/services offered. I decided to give them a call when I needed an oil change & had a $20 off coupon from the mail. I was able to make an appointment the same day. They quoted me a price before I left my car (which was below the price of the auto shop at my office). They were happy (almost excited?) to take off the $20 for the coupon, and they told me my car was in perfect condition without trying to upsell me on additional services when I came to pick it up. I've already recommended them to my other roommates and friends in the Uptown area. Also, they're right next to the Wedge which has amazing food, coffee, ice cream, smoothies, sandwiches, wifi, etc which makes for a pleasant waiting experience. Two thumbs up!

I had some issues with my windshield wipers that another mechanic had attempted to horrendously over charge me to fix. Honest one on Lyndale treated me fairly without any nonsense. I was able to get my AC charged and the wipers fixed for far less than what I was quoted for just the wipers (~50% less). I will definitely be back if I have another issue.

I'm 26 and been driving since I have been 16. I've had plenty of car problems in that period of time, too, since I've been driving cars about as old as me for a good chunk of that time. In the US there is a great deal of distrust when it comes to mechanics. I feel like being over charged is almost expected. So when I went to mechanics that were "family friends" and payed tons of money or had something new break immediately after taking my car in (literally every time) I just accepted it as part of vehicle maintenance. But in my old age I decided to try something new: I read reviews and ended up deciding to go to Honest One. Despite the redundancy of saying so, they really do seem to live up to their name. In all fairness I should admit right up front that I have known the owner since we were both in the same grade and high school class. That being said, I would not for one second hesitate to give a bad review if I had a bad experience here. But I never have had a bad experience, and I know I will not in the future because this is a first-class operation. Honest-1 on Lyndale has been servicing our 2011 Chevrolet Equinox for more than 5 years. Oil changes, leaks repaired, routine preventative maintenance, tire rotation, etc. - they do it all. They always have some coupon or sale and every time I go in they apply some kind of discount - usually better than whatever I bring in with me! So, this is pretty rare but I can say unequivocally, this is a business you can count on to just take good care of your car. If we hadn’t moved to Texas recently, I would still be bringing my car there. It’s one of the businesses we wish we could bring with us to Texas!

Do not normally give reviews but thought this was worth it. Went in last week for a routine oil change. Andrew, the manager that helped me out encouraged me to visit the dealer ASAP because I needed a new transmission, and that if I did it quickly it would be covered in my warranty ( I was a few thousand miles away from my warranty expiring) Sure enough I needed a new transmission, and was able to avoid having to pay for it out of pocket.

My brake job quote came back too high, so I told them I would wait. I was not charged. After hours I picked up my car, and it had a grinding metal noise that it didn't have prior to the brake inspection. I brought it back the next day, and they said the boot must have broken during the inspection. They replaced the part free of charge, and the noise went away. I also had a back window that wasn't working (prior to the inspection), but I forgot to tell them. They rolled it all the way down and couldn't get it back up. I said I wouldn't blame them for that, since I forgot to tell them about it. But thankfully, they were able to fix it without ordering any parts, so they didn't charge me for that either. They are open Sundays, which is really convenient.

My wife was traveling out of town to an event when her car broke down in the middle of the road and a fuel pump went out. As I was working from home, I did an internet search and found close proximity and good reviews online with the Honest 1 Uptown location so gave them a call. Andrew picked up and helped us out. While at home, I was able to coordinate a complete automotive repair, get my wife to her event and have the car ready the same day and within the timeframe that worked for US! Andrew kept me informed over the phone every step of the way, from when the vehicle arrived via tow truck to Honest 1 to diagnosing the problem, keeping me informed as to the time frame it would take to get the parts and have them installed and to the point when the car was done and ready for pickup. Andrew's courtesy, knowledge and professionalism were well beyond what I have come to expect in the auto repair industry and I was absolutely blown away by how easy he made the process, how thorough the work was and by how friendly and accommodating he was to our needs. While I do not live in the area and will likely not have many opportunities to frequent the location again, I highly recommend the service at Honest 1 and would encourage anyone to check them out and see why these folks should be your lifelong service center. My only regret with my experience with Honest 1 was that I was not there in person to shake Andrew's hand and thank him face to face for such superb professionalism and care!

Andrew is the BEST! I really needed my snow tires switched to summer tires over the Memorial Day weekend. We are from Wisconsin, but when we drove to Minneapols in March with soft rubber snow tires, my wife's water broke. Since she was only 29 weeks pregnant, she was immediately put on hospital bed rest in Minneapolis. Our twin boys were delivered 5 weeks later and have spent 4 weeks in the NICU. Luckily we are ready to go home. Now I'm worried about my snow tires. I called Precision Auto Care - they said no way and would not even suggest another shop. Andrew at Honest One Auto Care really helped me out and got us in the Saturday before Memorial Day for a summer tire change over. Now we won't have to worry about replacing expensive snow tires next year because we ruined them on the 350 mile trip back to Wisconsin.
