I've been going to Joy for over ten years. I adore the staff and trust them completely. I brought my son's 2007 Subaru to them to have it checked from front bumper to the back before he drove across the country. They were thorough and honest about what MUST be fixed and what could wait. Jesse and the team at (the appropriately named) More Joy Automotive consistently go above and beyond the call of duty. I have been patronizing their business for years - it's always a breath of fresh air. Firm handshake, smile, look you in the eye, and you have never to question if you're being taken for a ride. I don't know too much about cars so having a trustable mechanic who can is very important. But they're not only expert mechanics, they are expert customer service professionals, and old school men of principle. Great place! I put off regular maintenace on my car for over a year after moving to the area because I get so anxious about finding a new mechanic, but this place was wonderful! I discovered Joy Automotive after taking my car to a dealership for a routine oil change, only to hear I needed $2000 dollars worth of unnecessary work done. I walked out, and took my Mini to JOY (which AAA recommended) for a second opinion. I was blown away by their honesty, willingness to explain everything, reasonable prices, and pro-active, safety-focused service. All my car needed at the time was fresh oil and a new filter. Then they went through the list from the dealer and explained why each line-item was unnecessary, confirming my suspicion that the dealer was using the calendar rather than condition of my car to take advantage of me. The guys at Joy are HONEST and respectful. Their service is impeccable (complete with a car wash!) I will never take my car anywhere else, ever again. At this point the guys know me by name, and I have loads of resect for every one of them. The long-term perks? I drive a 2010 Mini Cooper, and thanks to Joy I've never had any mechanical issues, no break downs, nada. My baby still drives like new.

Someone was nice enough 2 steal my catalytic converter..my ins co mentioned Joy. I had my car towed there..EVERYONE was kind and professional. They had my car done that very day! I also purchased, for $400, a security plate which the police said GREATLY DETERS theft. I can't say enough about how happy I am with the service. BTW the dealership said they were back ordered on plates & converters..JOY did it ALL IN A DAY..AND WASHED MY CAR!!!..I needed a local mechanic shop I can trust, thats reputable ..I found it!

We started going to Joy Automotive (back when it was More Joy) when the warranty ran out on a car we bought in the 1990s (so probably 2001). Twenty years later and we still go there for pretty much everything we need for car repair. They are honest and they get the job done. Right now we have an eighteen-year-old car that we bought new (different than the one mentioned earlier). Joy has been taking care of that car since its warranty ran out fifteen years ago and the car is running great, like a clock. These guys are just great.

I've been bringing my car to Joy for the past 10 years and plan on continuing. They consistently perform all service thoroughly and are extremely transparent about all the work being performed, even when it's not in their best short-term interest. For example, when I spoke with Jesse this week about replacing the motor mounts on my car, he actually suggested I take it elsewhere to diagnose the transmission issues first, since fixing the motor mounts without taking care of the transmission might cost me more in the long run. That dedication to strong, long-term customer relationships seems to be shared across the whole team and doesn't go unnoticed.

I was a long time client of our beloved mechanic, Mike Garvey of Accurate Auto on Lincoln Blvd., Santa Monica. When he got retired, I went to his replacement at the same place and it was a complete disaster. I felt being a woman, I received an inferior & expensive service. After that I could not trust anywhere else until I found Joy automotive. It seems this auto repair shop is going to be my next trusted place for the years to come. Just like Mike, they are competent and fair and, the most importantly, they do not take advantage of many women's lack of interest & knowledge of automotive repairs. It also got my attention that they are very sensitive about keeping their work environment as virus free as possible both for their clients and themselves. I highly recommend Joy Automotive Service and Repair especially to female drivers. This is a place that you will feel comfortable to know that you will be treated fairly.

I have been going to Joy Automotive for 7 years, two different cars. Now, my sister and some friends go there now too. They saved my last car a couple of times after the dealership quoted me the cost of fixing the car higher than the worth of the car(originally how I found them.) I live diagonally across the city from them and will continue to go there wherever I move to. It's hard to find a great and trustworthy auto shop. Luckily, I have one.

Update 2020: Our family continues to take our cars for service at Joy Auto. I actually trust the people that work here to provide me with accurate information about what my car needs. They are all wonderful to work with from the managers, to the customer service individuals, to the people who drive your car around when you come in. I’ve been taking our cars to Joy Auto since I moved here 12 years ago. I trust them to advise the right thing to do. They always back up their work with a guarantee that they stand behind — I can confirm that. And you won’t find nicer people to work with. They even help out local kids with their bikes (I saw that). Love local businesses that take care of their community. I recommend Joy to all my friends and acquaintances and anyone that has been there has also been satisfied with the experience. I trust Joy because they are very straightforward and modest about what your car needs. They warranty all of their parts and work for 3 years or 36k miles which is awesome peace of mind for me. The front desk guys are friendly, willing to listen to your concerns about your car and will never up sell service to you. The shop will almost always start diagnosis and work on your car the same day you drop it off. They have competitive tire and oil change pricing as well. Joy Automotive has always provided us with excellent service. We recently had our brakes fixed there and they were extremely patient and helpful in explaining the work that needed to be done. We have an older car that has other issues that we did not want to prioritize and they were extremely understanding in helping us get the most urgent work done in the most cost-effective way possible. I definitely recommend their services. Update: we had to bring in our Nissan because it wouldn’t start and had to be jumpstarted. Everyone at Joy was excellent and they helped us get a high quality battery for the best possible price. They even have a rewards program that helped us save $40 from points we had accumulated for previous work we had done with them. We received excellent service as always and we will continue to go to them for our car repair needs.

If you want an honest, great car shop, this is the place to be. They are really competent, hard-working, and never try to rip you off. I just had a tricky problem with my Nissan Sentra, and Sergio explained the diagnosis process very well and tried the most economical fixes first. Although my car improved with the first thing they tried, it wasn't perfect and this shop asked to keep my car a little longer to get it running perfect. They found the root of the problem which was a little pricier of a repair, but they gave me a break on the labor. Most shops I was calling had higher diagnostic fees and were not optimistic about finding my problem (no engine lights were on and the car would stall only once or twice a week). Joy Automotive was really helpful, thorough, and cared for my money as if it was their own. Couldn't be more impressed. There's a reason this shop is busy. First come, first served works well for them.

Professional, trustworthy and fairly priced! I was new to the Santa Monica area, in the past I only ever took my Prius to Toyota garages but wanted to avoid hefty charges, so I went to Joy and they did an EXCELLENT job. They took my car within half an hour of calling them (!) , were polite and fairly priced. They aren't 'cheap cheap' but they're far more affordable than your car brand's place and I think they do a better job, plus they clean your car very well as a bonus. Highly recommend for people with little time on their hands that just want a top job done and no fuss!

I own a mini cooper and had a really bad experience at a specialized mini automotive service shop in Culver City. After researching online for a new mechanic, I found Joy Automotive Service & Repair. It had stellar reviews, but I was ultimately convinced when I found out my coworkers take their cars there. This might have been the most prudent decision of my life. Every mechanic there is highly qualified. When I have questions about the parts that need repair, I am always answered with clear and detailed explanations. I especially appreciate that they take their time to explain the repairs and provide instructions on how to make those repairs last longer. They treat every car as if it were their own, and as a result I've never felt taken advantage of. The proof comes from the pocketbook though - all of my repairs have been very fairly priced. I lived in Culver City, so it was a convenient distance. I just moved to Sun Valley (near Burbank), but I still drive to Joy Automotive when I need repairs or even a simple oil change. They're that good. Thank you team at Joy Automotive - you bring joy to my life!

I've been taking my car to this shop for a couple of years now. I drive a 2010 Honda Accord. Sergio usually helps me out. Each experience has been great. I've gotten oil changes done here regularly and they have helped me a few times with check engine lights. I would usually drop off my car in the morning, they would then give me a ride to work, and the car would be ready by the end of the day. They wash your car for you as well and they offer a discount if you have a AAA membership. Highly recommended.

I stumbled upon Joy Automotive a couple of years ago when I needed a quick blinker light fixed. Since then I’ve been back to Joy for everything from an oil change to new brakes. I've always received excellent customer service from Jesse and Sergio. I found myself back at Joy this week for another blinker light. We thought the light wasn’t going to be easy to change, because of its location, but their mechanic Homer quickly popped off my car's grille and installed a new light in 5 minutes. The friendly staff is very experienced, honest, and I always leave knowing my car is running smoothly.

My experience every time I go to Joy Automotive, is what you would always want it to be. From the beginning in dealing with the guys in the front office (which I would say, they are the nicest, most accomodating, that I have EVER dealt with. This place is great! We started coming here 6 years ago when we lived in Santa Monica, and they have always treated us well and been honest about our car's issues & what repairs might cost. BUT they never force any repairs on you. They tell you what they recommend and then it's whatever you want to fix. They also will recommend which repairs are more important. We have a 1999 Sentra with 115K miles on it. The outside of the car looks like garbage, but these guys have kept the engine running with no issues. Prices are great too. They don't overcharge, and they don't skimp and get cheap parts. We've since moved from Santa Monica, but I still come back here when my car needs oil or has problems. It's just easier for me to trust these guys than it is to find someone else!

Jessie and his team got us in right away and fixed the issue right away even though they had others before us because we were leaving. I won’t go anywhere else besides to get my car serviced. Joy has the best, most knowledgeable and honest guys in the auto business. I recently took my car to another auto shop in the Valley, who did an inspection and failed to figure out that my break padding was dangerously low. Thank goodness I went to Joy for a random oil change shortly thereafter, and they we’re the ones who discovered my bad breaks. I called 6 different shops for a quote to get my breaks redone, and Joy had the best pricing! More recently, I got my oxygen sensors redone with Joy. Even though the service is a pretty pricey one (no matter where you go), I feel good because I have the peace of mind that Joy did a solid job and stands by their work.

The crew at Joy is solid. Whether it's Casper or Sergio, they get your car in and out the same day. Unlike other places I have been I have never had to go back and dispute work that was done on my car. On the contrary they have fixed minor stuff that other mechanics would have billed by the hour. My 2001 Nissan Pathfinder has 189,000 miles and still runs like a champ.The most honest shop I have ever been. My neighbors and other friends I have recommended feel the same way. I just bought a Subaru Legacy and Casper gave it the thumbs up but also explained what it might need in the future and what that could possibly cost. Love this place.

this is the only repair shop I will consider going to in Southern California. Caesar and his team of hard working mechanics are quick and efficient. I've had lots of problems with my car because its getting up there in age, but they always manage to make me smile when I bring it in. They tell me what I need and if its absolutely necessary, they have no problem explaining it to me and tell me when they think a repair is pointless instead of taking the money. They are honest workers and won't take advantage of me, they will give you the best deal possible (go ahead and try and shop around). Not to mention that they check your car for issues for free! Tires, Brakes, Fluid levels for no charge to me except the cost of fluid if they need to add it. If you need a mechanic in Southern California, don't bother with anywhere else. More Joy is the only way to go.
