Went here for a safety inspection. The efficiency, kindness, etc. that I experienced here was unreal! I wish I got the young man's name who was able to help me both of the times I was able to stop by here. They are extremely quick (yet thorough) in conducting the safety, have a very proactive system in which the cars line up and whatnot, etc. The employee who helped me was extremely helpful, accommodating, and was able to advise in my adequately acquiring of a safety for an out-of-state vehicle that I had just recently shipped to the island. Both times that I was here, all of the employees were simply a joy to be around! Everybody was so kind, level-headed during a very busy time, etc. Very grateful to have found this place - by far my favorite auto-related business in general on the island!

Safety regulations was awesome! The look at the lights, under the hood, tires, wipers, and e brake. I didn’t know if my car was going to pass because of an airbag light but as long as your lights, wipers, steering, and e brake work you will pass. I was waiting for less than 15 minutes to be in and out. Great place highly recommend!

Get in line, wait a little, and walk through the verbal checklist. You do not need to exit your vehicle at any point and just follow the directions. Inspection does not last long and cost $25 plus taxes. This is the second time and I recommend them. Google maps is a bit off so you will have to drive around the block if you stick it their directions.

She showed me the issue and what was needed to repair the item; however, the repair wasn’t something they could do. I appreciate that she showed me exactly what was happening and what was needed to repair my car.

Fast. Efficient. Friendly. They have 2 dedicated lanes for safety inspections. In the shade. Was referred by a friend who has been going there for years. 12/22 update: still the same fast efficient service while you sit in your car. Keep it up guys! 3/28/23: 3rd year and excellent! Keep it up guys. Very busy. 2 lines and I was the 2nd car outside of the fence they had 2 people one for each line plus a 3rd checking cars prior to getting too the front to expedite things. Still 15 minutes out from the time I got in line.

Went to get a safety inspection for my car that I had shipped from the mainland in order to get Hawaii registration. There was a line of cars going out the lot into the street. This line splits into 2 lines when entering the lot. There was 2 people doing the inspections in the 2 lines available. Waited probably 30 or so minutes in our cars. They were going pretty quick though. About 10 minutes per car. By the time we got our inspection it was about the same 10 minutes. They were quick when checking for things and even warned us when they were checking for things like the windows and doors. Afterwards they told us what else we needed to do since we were transferring from out of state. Very helpful and friendly. We then had to come back after getting the approved paperwork and new license plates from the DMV. Coming back was about the same experience. Maybe only waited 20 minutes instead because there were less cars. This place didn't take reservations or appointments. Only first come first served. Overall happy with the experience and will be back for future inspections.

OMG. Charles is da bomb! So helpful, patient and friendly even tho he was slammed. Highly recommend, especially since it’s hard to find places to do safety checks. You have to pull up and wait but he’s so efficient that the wait isn’t bad at all. And he’s multi tasking the whole time with answering the phones but he does it all with a smile. Went there for a safety check, opens at 7:00 am so I went 6:30, parked on the side of the road. About 10 minutes after someone pulled up to the closed gate and waited, with oncoming cars! Blocking the left lane! Then another guy pulls up behind the first car. I immediately got in line blocking the road then someone pulled up behind me. Wow blocking the ROAD! SERVIce was quick and was otta there in 5-10 minutes. 👍

I completed my annual safety inspection for my truck is at McCully Union Service. Quick and easy service; I was in-and-out in less than 15 minutes. No appointments needed for safety inspections; Safety inspections are on a first come first serve basis. If you plan on going there for your safety check be sure to turn left at the 1st entrance to McCully Union service, the 2nd entrance is for auto repairs. Be sure to have your current vehicle registration and insurance card ready before you arrive. As of the date of this review, the price of a safety inspection is $25.00 plus tax. Credit cards accepted.

Small shop, BIG hearts 💕. A friend recommended this place. I came for a simple safety inspection. Just my luck my car happen to get a flat on my way there. I pulled in and asked of they did tires as well. The gentleman quickly assisted me and gave me options for my tire needs. He was quick, efficient, knowledgeable and kind. While waiting for my car another gentleman at the shop offered me a cold beverage while simultaneously attending to all the other customers who needed safety inspection. They made me feel taken care of.

Called an hour before they closed on Saturday really needing my inspection and they told me to come on in. Moved my car to the inspection bay as soon as I got there and Carlin started my inspection right away. Was super efficient, and I was actually missing a battery hold-down which he let me know. Advised me to run up to O'reilly and grab one so I did and brought it back. He popped it in for me and explained why it's important and finalized the safety inspection. Customer service 10/10 - everyone very friendly, especially Carlin. Would definitely use them in the future for anything needed that I can't do myself.

I thought the person ahead of me was a good, personal friend of the serviceman but turns out these guys give their 110% to every single person who comes to them for help. The men who work here exemplify the highest level of professional care and customer service. They are so great at mcCully Union. They are very popular for safety checks and several employees are certified to do safety checks according to the posted certificates. It’s not like one person is licensed and indirectly oversees unqualified workers. They are well qualified and do safety inspections by the book with quick and expert efficiency. If your car needs work to pass they can do the repairs right there. I comparison shopped and their prices were the best by far, no scamming the uninformed single female. They went the extra mile by cleaning the floor of my car do it was neater than when I left it with them. Sure it’s not a high standard (lol) but I was impressed I will never go to the dealership again. We are in luck with an honest well qualified establishment. I am a permanent customer!

These are super nice guys who gladly give good helpful information regarding safety checks and car registration. There can be a line of cars waiting to get a safety check after 9am, so it's better to go between 7-9am. The line still moves quickly enough though. Quick, friendly, no hassle. Love it!

I am fortunate enough to have shipped my car here from the mainland. I've been here for a few months, but I don't have connections to rely upon for solid automotive references. I opted to defer to Google Reviewers; they were not wrong; this place is excellent! I ended up calling a few times prior to stopping in, to ensure I had the correct paperwork, etc. and was warmly greeted each time. As my husband and I walked into the shop we were immediately welcomed. The gentlemen at the counter explained how the inspection works and the paperwork we needed to have prepared. We were then told to wait outside until Carlin was ready. We waited approximately five minutes for our safety inspection. The inspection itself was freaky fast and thorough. My card was processed on the spot. Carlin then explained the items needed to register the car. Also, in the next 30 days we will need to return so that he can photograph the car with the new plates/ provide him with proof of registration. I absolutely recommended obtaining your safety inspection here!

I got my safety check done here twice by Carlin, he's a really nice guy, I was surprised when he actually remembered who I was! Service is quick (Depending on what you need and when you need it), it took only about 20 minutes or less for the whole safety inspection. I ended up forgetting my updated insurance card at home and Carlin didn't mind waiting for me until I got back to complete the process, this place is small but I get a friendly vibe from the place and Carlin is always good to see. Very friendly guy, I would recommend going to this shop.

Went for my safety inspection. Although there was a line, I was probably in and out in about 10 - 15 minutes. They have two lanes for inspection. While I was there, the car next to me was at risk of failing due to a faulty brake light. It looks like they were able to replace the bulb on the spot. Friendly staff.

Super NICE group of guys, informed me of the necessary steps required for a car inspection. Noticed the double dollar sign, $$, on their post, yet they charge $20-$25 for this service. Took about 20 minutes for the first visit and 20 for the second visit. Only problem was a car pulled into my spot for service; rather than having this car move, they serviced this guy first. Wasn't a problem though. The guys here at McCully seem to really love what they are doing, pleasant and respectful; this is my place to come to for car inspections and car repairs. They come across both friendly and honest.

From your Safety Check, to your Tires. These guys may not look like a big outfit from Beretania St. , But they're pit-stop style safety and mechanic services are really professional. Even when I was ignorant of some things wrong with my safety check or process they never made me feel bad and always explained the greater process of safety, registration or how to fix the issues on my beaters to make sure I was actually safe first and foremost and that I would get through the process & that I was safe on the road. They also handle high volumes of people given that they are on a really busy street in the middle of Honolulu. If you've ever lived on Oahu or are a temporary resident, you know that it can get crowded. My personal suggestion to anyone local or living here, who is going to go down there is think like you are going into the NASCAR/F1 pit. Have your Papers ready, Get ready to listen to the directions of the Safety Inspector. Be calm and follow all the instructions. Finally I've been down here enough myself over the years that I've seen people wonder if on a busy day they don't know where you are in the safety check line. Don't worry about that either, their staff have some magical ability or system to always make sure the cars are in line and served in order. Mahalo for the service! You guys have always been really good to me!

I was having trouble getting my car started and wasn’t sure if it was a problem with the battery or starter. Fortunately the place wasn’t too busy when I arrived and the mechanics examined the battery right away. They were very thorough in explaining the problem in a way that was easy to understand and fixed it without any issues. They are also very friendly and seem to work well together. Couple weeks ago I was referred by one of my friends to this shop. We needed to quickly find a place that could do a walk-in Safety Inspection. Our sticker expired. All the places I called were booked up. We drove to this place and were able to get our car inspected within 15 minutes. We did fail because of the Registration expiring but I finally got it renewed today and came back to get the safety stickers put on. I will definitely be back. Really friendly staff and very quick!

I visited this little gem of a place this morning to get my inspection done. Fast, friendly, no frills. I waited in line for about 30 minutes, but that's because this place is known for quick and easy inspections, so there were about 7 cars ahead of me. If you do the math, that's 5ish minutes per car. If you can squeeze in that wait time, it's worth it I think. No appointment needed. I haven't needed car repair recently so I can't speak to that aspect. But they are a machine when it comes to inspections!

I recently moved to the island to attend grad school at UH. I was lucky enough to bring my car with me from home. I went to McCully because the reviews on Google were very positive and it wasn't far from campus. When I first got there Carlin quickly walked me through the steps for the inspection. He told my boyfriend and I that we first had to remove some of the peeling tint on our windows before passing the inspection. He gave me a razor blade and told me how I could do it myself to save some money. I really appreciated this as I only make a small amount as a TA. Once that was completed, I went back and Carlin noticed there was some water in my tail lights due to many small cracks. He removed them and attempted to get the water out of both so he could pass me. Unfortunately, some of the water wouldn't come out so I had to buy a new tail light assembly. In the meantime he temporarily passed me so I could get my car registered. Once I got the light, I came back and Carlin taught me how I could replace the light myself! He was so helpful, kind, and full of advice. I would definitely recommend coming here for your safety inspection. Both times the wait was very short and Carlin was happy to help us!

Came here before to get safety check for my car and they told me I was about a month and a half early. This saved me some money. Came back to get my check and as usual they were busy. It took about 15 minutes and they had a steady stream of customers coming in at around 10AM. They were efficient and friendly and even knew what to do with my temporary registration instead of the permanent one. They used computer tablets (iPads or android) to check data and take pictures for the check. You see luxury cars, beat up cars and average cars. There are just two bays and an office and the rest looks like what used to be old gas pumps area and parking which is covered by cars either fixed or waiting to be fixed. Don't judge a book by its cover as they are good at completing the safety check and seem very knowledgeable. ASE certified official spection station #366. Don't know about there other repair work but I will be inquiring. Will be back again for my next safety check.

Every year, come ehicle safety inspection time, I always go to McCully Union Service. They are quick, courteous, kind, and extremely professional. Even if the line is backed up down Beretania, they keep 2 lanes open and get through each inspection within 10-15 minutes. The wait isn't bad at all, and the prices are the lowest I've found.

After calling and going to two different places where they couldn't or wouldn't even accommodate me, I went to McCully Union Service which is conveniently located on the left side of Beretania St. across from Casablanca Bridal. Amazing! Called for an inspection and they were opened until 5 with first come first serve. Super nice! They said to stay in the vechile while they did everything, even paying! On March 19th I visited McCully Union Service for a Safety Check in my Lexus ES330. They saw me within 5 minutes of pulling up around 8am. My registration was expired and my tint was too dark. Charles, who was doing Safety Checks that day, was super chill and very friendly. He referred me to a window tint shop down in Kaka'ako. I went there, got my tint removed, came back around 11am and was seen again by Charles with only a 5 minute wait. He gave me the failed safety check for my registration being expired and I was on my way to the DMV. Got my registration, came back by 1pm and was in and out in 10 minutes, Safety and Registration all finally taken care of. I think had I gone to any other shop I couldn't have done this in one day but Charles was extremely helpful and really treated the other customers and I with Aloha. Great customer service. This shop is quick, and Clarin (the gentleman who did my inspection) was pretty awesome (and very patient). I watched him be very kind and helpful, instead of impatient or angry, with a couple who spoke minimal English and didn't understand his instructions. Don't be like me and remember to bring all your documents, especially if you need to register your car. - Current, valid auto insurance - Bill of Lading (doc from the VPC, if you shipped your car) - (Out of State registration) He is the nicest rejecter (haha), so you will not feel bad or upset about forgetting something or having to fix something. Coming back here for sure!
