My 17 year old daughter had her catalytic converter stolen at school and Hotchkiss was nearby and had great reviews. Wow, did they impress! They were fast, and reliable and kept me abreast of the process the entire time. More importantly, Lenny was incredible to work with. I put my daughter to task of bringing in the car (her first experience dealing with car maintenance!) and Lenny treated her so kindly and made it a great experience for both of us. Imagine sending your 17 year daughter to handle her car maintenance and she comes back and says “they were so nice!”. That enough makes me want to use them again if needed. They even came in at a very reasonable price and saved me some money. Highly recommend. The 5-star reviews of Hotchkiss are reliable!

After taking my car to 3 mechanics and getting quotes that were outrageous I was recommended Hotchkiss auto and it was easily the best experience I’ve had when it comes to mechanics. They were incredibly professional, timely and kind. They had my car fixed and ready in under 3 days and the pricing was very fair. They checked on how it was running a few days later. I took my 2013 Honda CRV to Hotchkiss yesterday because of a burning odor. Turned out to be something minor. I usually go to the Honda dealership, but wanted to try to patronize a local business. Emily provided excellent customer service, and I feel like the mechanic was very honest in his diagnosis. I picked up my car in the afternoon and the price was very reasonable. I will not hesitate to use Hotchkiss again when needed.

My vehicle has been a thorn in my side since I moved to Denver in April 2022. First the AC goes out, my passenger front tire flies off out of nowhere, if I don’t start my car for days it dies, there’s a horrible grinding sound from my front drivers side, the list goes on. I’m dealing with all of this while trying to establish myself here so I’m feeling broken down one day when I try to start my car and it won’t. I’m fed up at this point so I figure out transport to and from work while looking for a place to be take my car. Top of the list Hotchkiss. I call and make the appointment and they get me in the next day. I had thorough diagnostics by the following day. I was tight on money at the time so I had to find the amount they told me a crucial repair would cost plus the diagnostics. They gave me the time to come up with it which took me a little longer than I wanted, but they were just so kind and patient with me. Later they found I needed another part, but I just couldn’t afford it. On my way to pick up my car I’m kicking myself for not being able to afford the part because it wouldn’t truly be fixed now and I would just end up having to pay for the repair again later. When I arrive they want me to talk to Tom specifically. He reminds me of the situation and the other part I needed. . . Then he shows me that it’s been provided and discounted. I was fighting SO hard to keep back the tears. It was my first honest break since I moved here. I’ll be back for sure and trying to pay extra. The staff is amazing. The shop is great! They’re fast and thorough. They strive for excellence. Highly recommended.

Right on time for winter! Hotchkiss replaced my tires. Pricing was better than Discount Tires. Super knowledgeable about the best tire I needed for my truck. My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was making a weird noise and check engine light was on. I was scared to take it anywhere as the last time it was in for repairs it cost me a ton of $$$. I took a chance on Hotchkiss and they didn't dissapoint at all. They were so easy to schedule with and made sure to remind me of my apt time. Terry was my service advisor and he was amazing. Hotchkiss was top notch from start to finish! I brought in my Jeep for a engine check up. I suspected a leak and Hotchkiss confirmed it with a pressure test. They went through the procedure with me, gave me a run down on the total cost and started to work on my car promptly. My car was overheating. When I called to schedule a time to come, they were very nice to talk to and actually asked what the problem was and didn't cut me off like other places do. I was able to explain the problem to help give them a better idea of what the car was going through. When I took they car there they were super cool and assured me they would communicate. After they looked at the car, they gave me a call and let me know they found a simple easy fix for my car (potentially), called me a couple hours later and let me know that that fix worked. I am so glad that I found this repair shop. I was having a problem with my headlights going out on my 2016 Subaru Forester. Hotchkiss was able to fit me in at a convenient time and found the problem immediately. It was repaired for less than I was quoted elsewhere, and the office staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The building is super cute and has a retro feel about it. Definitely knowledgeable folks here. I needed an alignment after aftermarket steering linkage installation on a lifted Wrangler and they were happy to do it to the manufacturer's specs. They still had the spec sheet I provided them in hand when I came to pick it up, and explained to me why the castor was a couple degrees short of the spec. All made sense and the Jeep drives like a dream now. Good price too!

Short version: I had the strut assemblies (shocks and springs) in the front end of my vehicle replaced at Hotchkiss Auto. The service advisor Nikki was my point of contact, and I found her knowledgeable, professional, helpful, and a good communicator. The result is no more noise in the front; sounds WEIRD being so quiet when I ride over rough pavement.. Long version: I had already had this work done (for about $1000) at a reputable garage about a 1000 miles and 4 months earlier. But there was something wrong: I was still hearing noises. They said sure, bring it back in, but before I got there the owners retired and the shop evaporated, so I had no recourse with them. Another mechanic identified the problem, that the new struts were rubbing against the wheel well, but all they could do is redo the work with new parts ... for another $1000. I tried Hotchkiss, and when I mentioned to Nikki that I wanted the old parts so I could try to get something out of the parts distributor, she said `oh, we use them, I can talk to them'. I didn't expect much, but in fact it turns out that the new struts I had were not to the right specifications. It isn't clear exactly why, but Nikki was able to get that distributor to pay for most of my work. There was another iteration in the story, as following the distributor's app she was STILL sent the wrong size strut, but the Hotchkiss people noticed that before installation and were able to get the right one (which SHOULDN'T have been the right one, if you believed the distributor's website - Go figure!). Anyway, props to Nikki for sticking with this, volunteering to try to resolve this on my behalf, and for being successful. Oh, and the car feels great! Color me .... a Happy Camper.

Nikki was my Service Writer. She was professional, courteous, and timely. I brought the vehicle in for an oil change and full vehicle inspection, including checking manufactures recommended 120,000 mile maintenance. She let me know up front what the cost for the oil change and inspection would be then let me know that they would contact me with any maintenance they recommended. Turns out the car is in really good shape, didn't recommend anything I didn't need or wasn't actually due; only suggested a few minor things that I already knew needed attention. I've taken my vehicle in 3 times now and always come away satisfied; never a sudden problem that wasn't apparent before bringing in and never a problem a few days after service (which all too often is the case with other shops). This was our second time using Hotchkiss for some work on our aging cars. Had a great experience both times. Very responsive and transparent with pricing and the work was done efficiently. We had a difficult schedule and needed our car back ASAP and despite not being able to start our repair until ~3pm, they managed to get our part and repair completed before closing at 6pm. Steve was a great help, professional and communicated clearly with us throughout the day to keep us updated. Overall, we have been really happy with the work done by Hotchkiss and will be continuing to use them for all our repairs!

There aren't many auto repair shops of this caliber. The work has always been top notch. In the past, when I've taken my vehicles to a mechanic, it always seems to start off great and go downhill from there with every following visit. Hotchkiss has consistently performed great every time. This is not a turn and burn repair shop; they stay busy taking care of their customers and giving each vehicle personalized expertise, so be aware that depending on the repair and availability of parts needed, the job may take a few days. The wait is always worthwhile because you can be sure that the work is correct and no corners were cut. Their building is unique, and the front office area is organized and tidy. My experience with the employees has always been positive.They're patient and listen to what I have to say about my car when I bring it in, rather than dismissing or making me feel like my observations don't matter to them. I highly recommend Hotchkiss for their friendly demeanor and excellent repair work. Drive away with peace of mind that comes from doing business with expert mechanics and professionals who know to treat their customers right!

Things are tough nowadays. Supply chain problems, the virus, work problems and then the car goes wonky. Yeah Hotchkiss needed the car another day but in the end it was fixed. The customer-relations woman kept me up to date on what was happening and the mechanic repaired the Focus when the parts came in from out of state. If things are tough on us, imagine how tough they are for the people we ask to fix our problems. Great job to all at Hotchkiss.

Everyone’s experience can be different, but as someone who admits to knowing little about vehicle maintenance (sorry dad) and feeling lost when it comes to this area, Hotchkiss was very helpful. I had an issue with my car, rattling noise, something felt weird, etc. They were able to get it taken care of and showed me the parts, explained what was replaced and why, and I just felt confident that I had been given all the correct information. My boss’s husband recommended to check them out since he’s been going to them for years and I can vouch for the quality and customer satisfaction. They’re also pretty quick compared to my previous mechanic experiences where I’d leave my vehicle there for days (5 to 10) and with Hotchkiss it’s never taken more than 48 hours. I’ve switched to here for everything now, oil changes, maintenance, repairs etc and don’t regret it at all.

I am not usually motivated to write reviews, but I know how difficult and a bit scary it can be to find a auto repair garage you feel you can really trust. Two people had recommended Hotchkiss to me, so I felt reassured to start with. They were wonderful. I go back and forth between Denver and the Mountains a lot. My jeep started shaking in idle and I was worried to drive it up to the mountain. I needed to drive up in a few days. The dealer I often go to said they couldn't get me in for TWO WEEKS - even though I told them I thought my car had a potentially serious issue that might soon make it undriveable. Tony at Hotchkiss got me in the day after I called. Was very clear along the way about costs. The garage diagnosed and made repairs all in one day! I also just love the physical aspects of the garage. It's a beautiful building (when do you ever say that about an auto repair garage) and they have a very homey waiting area. The few people I dealt with were friendly and courteous.

In 2020 my local auto shop noted a small oil leak and suggested Hotchkiss Auto Repair to do the diagnostics on where the leak was coming from. In late summer 2021 I made an appointment to visit. After Hotchkiss steam cleaned my engine (their recommendation) they told me to drive my car for several weeks and return. Upon my return the diagnosis was a couple of minor oil leaks with the advice to continue watching the leaks. My bill was less than $100. So when was the last time an auto repair place you were using recommended NOT to do any additional work? I'll return soon to have Hotchkiss experts take another look.

As a young woman who admittedly doesn't know a ton about cars, auto shops can sometimes be intimidating. But at Hotchkiss, this was not the case. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and informative! I came in for an oil change, brake fluid replacement, and thought I might need new brake pads as well. A less reputable shop could've have told me I needed to replace my brakes and gotten the extra money. Hotchkiss not only let me know that my brakes had many more miles left on them, they gave me the exact measurements and even explained the what difference between the front and back pad measurements meant. I have rarely experienced this level of going above and beyond at other garages. The prices were reasonable and they were very up front about the costs, which I appreciated. I will definitely be coming back to Hotchkiss for all my car maintenance needs!

Awesome experience at Hotchkiss! I dropped off my car for a tune-up since I just passed 150,000 miles. They called to discuss what would be needed before they started (lots of new belts), but then when they opened up my Traverse, they decided that she was in great shape and called to recommend that I NOT replace as much as we had initially agreed upon. Excellent, honest auto repair! Took my truck in to get an alignment after hitting a pothole and finding my steering wheel was no longer straight. I was advised that there may be other damage to the suspension, but luckily Nikki called to tell me that all it needed was a few standard adjustments and everything else was in good shape after inspection. I got a used Toyota this summer through a private sale. I took the car to a Toyota dealer to get a full inspection, and they recommended several maintenance repairs. The quote was astronomical, and I decided to get a second opinion. I live in the East Colfax area and decided to see if there was anything nearby. I came across Hotchkiss, and realized that I had been driving by it for years. The reviews were really good, so I decided to give them a try. I am very happy that I did! They were able to prioritize the repair needs, and many of them were MUCH cheaper than the dealer. Beau is great to work with, and does an excellent job of explaining things in layman's terms. We agreed the first thing to fix was my brakes. I planned to drop my car off the night before, but when I went to start it, I realized the battery was dead. My car was pulled too far in the driveway for my wife's car to jump it. We called Beau to let him know that we would have to go buy portable jumper cables, and would likely have to reschedule as it was almost closing time. He asked where we lived, and realized it was only a few minutes away. Beau went above and beyond by coming to our house and jumping my car so that I could keep my appointment. He not only saved us money, but he also saved us time and a lot of hassle! Everyone at Hotchkiss is very friendly and professional, and they truly do offer reasonable rates, along with excellent service. They also do a great job of following COVID protocol. As a woman, walking into auto shops can be super intimidating. This one just felt...different! The building itself is made of a charming old brick and was decorated with vintage gas pumps and signs. The front door leads you into a large, open room with a well-lit waiting room on one side and 4 desks with professionally-dressed employees waiting to help you on the other (bonus: one of them was also a woman!). Every person I spoke to was very friendly and helpful and the vibe definitely felt more relaxed than some other shops I've been to. I used to trust and respect this shop (customer for my last 3 vehicles). I even continued to use them after moving much further away because I had had good experiences and trusted the work. The last couple of years the front office staff has seen a lot of turnover. They're condescending, rude and nickel and dime you for every diagnostic test, regardless of difficulty, time involved, or if you're having the work done there. I've received many service recommendations for additional work for things that were typed up on the invoice given to me, but not saved in their system requiring them to need to pull the hard copy!? The staff was uninformed of vehicle history, even though it's in their system. They clearly couldn't be bothered to review it. I recently had service for an alternator diagnostic and replacement. I was 99% sure it was the alternator. After I picked the car up and drove away, I discovered the radio was not working and they admitted to failing to even test it. While it seems that perhaps this is a minor issue, I expect to receive the service I feel I'm being charged a premium for. If you deserve the diagnostic fee, I would expect comprehensive checks of electrical components affected by said service.

I never thought I would give a auto repair shop 5 stars but these guys absolutely deserve it. They have come through for us so many times over the years. Once we had an issue with the car and the dealership was going to charge us close to 5k with no guarantee that it would fix the problem. Hotchkiss not only charged us half of it but knew exactly what the problem was as soon as he tested the car. Another time we got stranded on a side of the road late at night and decided to call Hotchkiss to leave a message for the next day. Dave actually answered the call at 9 PM!!! and came to our rescue. I had my Land Rover towed there yesterday after a baffling electrical issue that I was unable to resolve. Getting the tow was the toughest part with the company sending the equivelant of a Yugo tow truck to drag my Land Rover, that is a review in itself. A while back we got a remote car starter from Car Toys. Car Toys could never actually get the started installed, but left me with my interior dash lights being unable to dim. I reached out to Hotchkiss when my car wouldn't start; even though their next appointment was over a week away, they allowed me to have it towed and stored in their lot while waiting for the appointment. They ended up having time to diagnose and repair it a week before my official appointment, and I was so impressed by not only the speed of service but also the level of communication. Marseilles called me with updates regularly, and when he told me about the problem, he let me know it could mean replacing either just 1 part or 4 parts. He gave me the "worst case scenario" estimate, which I greatly appreciated, instead of telling me 1 part was broken then having the surprise of picking up my car with a bill 4 times higher than expected. I hope I don't have car trouble again soon, but if I do, I will be bringing it back in to Hotchkiss!
