Isaac and Danny were so responsive when I came in after a blow-out. They were very quick to help me right away, were very responsive to my concerns, and were very fair with recommendations they made. I felt well taken care of and they gave me a sense of safety right when I needed it. I will be taking my car needs to them from now on! As a side note, they were fun to talk shop with too.

I came in today in a panic as my car alerted me that I had a low tire and to stop the car. I pulled over, and instantly heard air escaping and saw a hole in my tire. I went from 33 psi to 4 psi in a matter of three blocks. Having a flat is never a good day, but I work in the medical industry as a nurse and had to care for a patient going into surgery shortly. The team at Tuffy not only helped me immediately and got me back on the road less than 20 min, but were very kind to me. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for auto help.

I usually don't go out of my way to write an extensive review, but the guys here truly deserve every single star and shout out they get. I drove right by them about a week ago, and chuckled at their sign that said "new management, new attitude," then guided by some otherworldly force, my car decided to break down a block and a half away! Talk about serendipitous! I'm not sure what the attitude was before but I can attest that NOW they are super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, honest, and all around good bunch of guys. When I broke down (the first time), they lent me a gas can, then when it wasn't that and my gigantic van was still blocking all of the traffic on Diversey, Loren came out, walked a block and a half to get to me and try to give me a hand, he gave me numbers to towing companies they trust and use (I don't have a smartphone), and they checked my van and fixed a wiring issue FOR FREE! That was last weekend. A couple days later, I came down to them again, via a tow truck. Now, that's not to say that they didn't fix the problem. The problem was just a little deeper than we all initially thought, and of course I wasn't going to complain after my friends did me a solid last time. Second time around they did all the diagnostics and ordered a part for me and everything, but it turned out that the computer they ordered needed to be programmed therefore they couldn't just install it for me. They were always upfront and very communicative with me. I really wanted to pay them for the diag., and wish they could have been the guys to gett'im fixed up, but it turned out that I have to get my computer rebuilt by none other than the dealership. So after 5 days of a free parking spot on their lot, they still won't let me pay 'em because according to Loren (and I quote), "they didn't do anything for me." Now, I'm not saying that they will give YOU anything FREE, being that I was just driving through Chicago and I live out of my van I guess they just felt compelled to help me. I can't even put into words how thankful I am for all their help and knowledge... they literally just helped me out of the goodness of their hearts! I am incredibly appreciative of their help, patience, honesty, and all around good vibes. I now drive off, happy to know the gang here: Loren, Jason, Adam, Allen, and everyone else. They always have a smile on their faces, even though they are busting their butts every second of every day! They truly care about their costumers and give everything they are advertising. Keep keepin 'em busy, Chicago so next time I drive through I can find the gang still here with their two ducks.

I have an older car and aside from “it’s been driving differently” I didn’t know how to explain what was wrong. Loren, Jason, and Alan took the time to go over what needed to be fixed immediately and what could wait a little longer. They kept me in the loop about how long it would take and gave me a fair quote. My car is driving great now. Great local spot, excellent work and customer service, and good prices!

I am editing this because the manager, Alan, did reach out to me and offer to make things right. However, it is important to know what happened so it does not happen again to others. Customers: Please ask if they know for sure when you need a service. Check your receipts or call the service organization. Tuffy's lied to me! I came in for just an oil change. That's all I wanted/thought I needed. After doing an inspection, they said I NEEDED air filter replacement and a coolant flush. Me, not knowing anything about cars or how to check this, I trusted them, especially after reading all of their good reviews! I called up my old service center after (a reputable Chevy dealership near my work) to get the history on my car services and they said they did a coolant flush the year prior. THAT I WAS NOT DUE for a COOLANT FLUSH FOR ANOTHER 3 YEARS. I have the records. Air filter: YOU can check if an air filter is dirty! I was not due for this either. Tuffys: If you DONT know for sure that I need something, DO NOT tell me I need it. Be HONEST and say ' you MIGHT Need this if you did not get it done before'. WHY is that so hard?

I was having an issue with my Jeep and wasn’t sure what was going on. They were able to get my car in right away as I needed it back over the weekend. They provided a detailed overview of what they expected to be the issue, walked me through a step by step of the fixes and gave me a quote for the repairs. They delivered on that with a quick turnaround - appreciated the open communication and was able to drive my car when needed with no issues. Will definitely be returning for any other auto repairs and work.

I got a flat tire hours before I had to drive my partner to a job interview... I was in a slight panic and needed the tire plugged. Other places turned me away because they were too busy. Not Tuffy! They were so kind that they even started my work order before they were supposed to be open. This was over a month ago, but I didn't forget, and the tire is holding up just fine. Tuffy took great care of me! I brought my car in for an oil change in the morning, and at mid day got a call reminding me that I needed new front tires and rear brakes. I was given a quote over the phone, and they had completed everything by the end of the business day! The cost was very reasonable, and everyone I interacted with was pleasant and communicated well. Due to just wear and tear wound up having more work done than originally anticipated. They did a great job of being straightforward and honest about what the issues were, and what needed to be done, as well as any issues if I had wanted to delay anything. Their communication was great, especially given some of the work kept the vehicle with them longer than originally thought. They also added on a coupon for me to help on the price. Had the chance to chat with the owner when picking the vehicle up, and he was friendly, honest and frank about some of the general questions I had...very personable. Location is great for me, and the pricing is very reasonable and fair. Great customer service, and I will definitely make them my go-to for all repairs and maintenance work.

Tuffy Chicago is absolutely great! I fully trust that they are taking care of me and my car. I took my Jeep in for an oil change in anticipation of a longer drive, and they pointed out that my tires were quite old and starting to crack. Like most auto shops, they did provide a “list of projects” my car needed, but when I politely declined, they didn’t put up a fuss. I had a great experience at Tuffy. I found a screw stuck in my tire, so I brought it in to get it sealed. The puncture was bad enough that they didn’t charge me for plugging the leak since it likely wouldn’t hold long-term. The charge was really reasonable when I returned to have the tire replaced. All the staff was very friendly. It’s good to find a good shop close to home.

I've used Tuffy a couple of times for oil changes they've and always been very friendly and provided very professional service. Prices have reasonable. I recently brought my car in because I thought I had a leak in one of my tires - turns out that it was just low on air, but they were kind enough to check each of my other tires and did not charge me for any of it! I will definitely be coming back to Tuffy for further auto maintenance needs.

We have been here twice. Once to patch a hole in a tire from a nail and this last time to change a rear tail light. Both times service was excellent and speedy. When we couldn't get a screw loose to change the bulb ourself, they did it for us free of charge. Its so nice to have a friendly, trustworthy mechanic around the corner. I never feel like I am getting up-sold and I actually enjoy bringing my car there.

I had a leaky tire and called first thing in the morning. They told me to bring my car over, but it might be awhile since they had a lot of cars to work on. Totally fine with me as I didn’t need my car that day. I got a text a few hours later saying my car was done. Only $35 to patch up a hole a nail made! Very happy with the timeliness and cost. While I hopefully don’t have to come back, if I need car work I will bring it to Tuffy!

I had a great experience here. Plenty of places will give you false information just so you'll pay them to do something your car doesn't really need. But not this place. They could have gotten an easy 170 out of me by telling me my car needed a trans fluid flush, but no--they were honest. And honesty is what you need when you're seeking good information about your car. They did quite an inspection--which surely took more than one minuteyet all they charged me for was the oil change they did. I messaged the owner and wrote that I wasn't sure my tire pressure reading was accurate. He told me to swing by at my convenience to have it looked at and pumped up. I did just that for no charge. This place understands the value of customer satisfaction. Go here!

Loren and Jason were very kind and professional. I was in and out in less than 40 minutes for a flat tire, not to mention they gave me a HUGE discount. My father usually services my car (however, he lives in a different state now) and when I told them this, Loren offered to speak to him directly about any issues my car might have in the future if I wanted. As a younger female with not a lot of knowledge about cars, I really appreciate the honesty, professionalism, and service I received. It makes me (and my father) feel a lot better knowing there is a place I can trust with my vehicle where I WON'T be ripped off or talked down to. Would 100% recommend.

I have received great service at Tuffy’s several times. On more than one occasion, I was able able to walk in on a weekend without an appoint and have a minor issue with my car fixed within an hour. They are also great at explaining their work and recommendations so that you can fully understand any costs and learn about your car! I highly recommend getting your car serviced at Tuffy! I drive a Volkswagen GTI and they were able to take care of my transmission, fuel injection system, and coolant system with no problem at all, and for a much lower price than I was quoted at the dealership. In fact, my dealership had suggested a transmission flush that isn't even possible to do on my car (I drive a manual). Loren called me up right away to let me know they wouldn't and couldn't perform that expensive service, but would change my gear oil, which is a cheaper service! Loren was also incredibly kind and easy to communicate with. If you're looking for a trustworthy place to get your car taken care of quickly, take it to Tuffy!

Tuffy was unexpectedly great. I know next to nothing about cars so whenever I take my car in to a shop I assume I'm going to get overcharged for work that isn't really needed. That was not my experience here. I told them I might have issues with my brakes but all it needed was a brake fluid flush that cost around 150 dollars. They were also super friendly. Going forward I'm going to use tuffy anytime I need my car serviced.

Tuffy’s is amazing! Fast service and friendly people... I recently took my car into the dealership for routine maintenance and asked them to look at one of my tires because the low air sign had come on that day. They said it was fine and just due to the cold weather and sent me on my way. A week later the sign turned on again and I found a nail in my tire that the dealership had missed. I took my car to Tuffy’s and they fixed it in less than 15 minutes. Would definitely use them again and highly recommend!

Tuffy Auto Service has always provided quick and friendly service. Due to the ice and snow, the splash guard on my car was dragging and making a horrible sound while driving. Allen was especially helpful - he got my car in and fixed the same day I called. He gave me a rough estimate of a replacement splash guard, which I appreciated. However, Allen and his team were able to simply reassemble my splash guard at no cost! Thank you Allen and Tuffys!

No parking available so you have to find parking on the street when you first get there but that's most of Chicago. The owner and the manager are both very friendly and easy to deal with. The prices are also very competitive and they take less time than their estimates which works out well. I have a couple of other repair shops closer to me but still I go a little farther to go to tuffy's because they do a good job.

No complaints here! I appreciated that Tuffy worked to accommodate me into their afternoon schedule an hour before close. A conventional oil change was reasonably priced and went quickly. The team at the front desk was also extremely nice - gotta hand it to them for their funny signs. These guys are the best! I live close by and they have helped me out twice now with exceptional service. All staff are friendly and welcoming to me and my kids ( and my lack of car knowledge) My license plate was knocked off in a parking lot. These guys put it back on for me free of charge. Highly recommend. Normally i feel uncomfortable in car/mechanic shops - but this place was very welcoming.

My only complaint about Tuffy is that No One calls me, I always call to see what is up! And if I called the prior week to tell you what I needed done to my car, why doesn't anyone check then to see if you have those items available, and then order them if you don't? Instead of no calling me and then making me wait while you get them from another location? I was your first appt. yesterday, 8:00. My car wasn't picked up until 4:00! The customer service has changed dramatically at this location and not for the better! The workers here are super nice, but it should not take 8 hours for simple tasks to be completed.

I have four high-mileage cars that I rent out, so I’ve been to just about every auto repair shop in the area—this is the only one in Chicago that has earned my repeat business. From the start the guys at this shop were straight with me and told me which repairs/maintenance could be put off. However, as a woman I’m more apt to be quoted for repairs my car doesn’t need, and I’ve been ripped off by too many mechanics to not be skeptical, so over the last year I have gotten a second opinion on most of the work my cars needed. Time and time again I found that the mechanics at this Tuffy only ever quoted me for work that needed to be done, and they were consistently able to do it at a lower price than I received elsewhere! Within the past two months alone they replaced a broken seat track on my 2016 Chevy Malibu, replaced the catalytic converter in my 2008 Ford E150, and put in a rebuilt transmission in my 2015 Nissan Sentra. Needless to say, I trust them, and thus far I’ve never had an issue with the work they’ve done. These guys are legitimate, and wholly understand that good work and fair pricing results in return customers.

I needed to replace the battery in my wife’s car. Tuffy Tire & Auto Service is in our neighborhood (we just moved to Chicago) and we walk by almost every day. From the street service looked clean and organized so I decided to stop by and check if they can replace that battery. I was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff and great customer service. I can’t speak more highly of my experience at Tuffy! Like most car owners headed into the holidays, car issues are the last thing I wanted to deal with. Loren and his crew worked quickly, communicated clearly, and completely eased any anxiety I had revolving around my car. When I went to pick up my vehicle, Loren doubled checked my car personally to make sure everything was taken care of and then went an extra step to start the car so it would be warm when I got in! Man what an amazing experience. First time customer and finally have found that place I’ll be taking my car for all its services. Loren was great. Great spot! Not only have they fixed my issue every time, they are overly fair and friendly. Not knowing anything about cars this trust is so valuable. A couple months ago they did a full inspection (at no charge) to my passat. They were up front an honest that the amount it would take to fix the car was more than the car's worth. I stopped by for an oil change today and they noticed my licence plate was a little loose as some of the screws came out. Five Star Plus service at this establishment!!! Highly recommended...My daughter & I were two days into our cross country drive from Los Angles to New York when our brakes completely failed. Under a time crunch to get to NY to begin a new job, the owners graciously made our repair job a priority and had the car ready that same day so we could continue on our journey. When I went to Tuffy Chicago recently, I did not expect the stellar, excellent help I received. I had an issue with the splash shield under the car coming half-way out. It was a Friday, close to 6 in the evening, they were about to shut down in an hour and their plate was full with several other cars. I mentioned that I needed to get back to the suburbs and did not have any way back without my car. The manager and one of the servicemen - Adam - helped me out. They took the car in and cut out the torn shield within 10 minutes. Not only that, they didn't even charge for this. I was hoping for some car service in an emergency. What I got, in addition to some excellent service, was a demonstration of being humane and considerate. Thanks guys! I really appreciate what you did for me.

What happens when you pull into Downtown Chicago at 6 pm on a Friday & hear a clicking coming from your tire? (A bolt & washer had somehow gotten stuck in my tire.) If you're luck enough to find the guys at this Tuffy location, you get fixed up quickly & make it to your concert just down the road on time! These gentlemen were very kind to my friend & I, who were traveling into town from Detroit. We were very grateful for the fast, friendly service..... the great conversation, laughs, & coffee were a bonus too! Thanks again guys!

Had a coolant hose break. Luckily I was less than 10 mins away. Called then brought it in about 45 mins before they closed. Turned out it wasn't too bad and they were able to temporarily fix it so I could make it back home to the suburbs. Excellent work and it held up great. Didn't even charge me much. If I'm ever in the area and need anything else done I'll be bringing it here

I have used them twice now within the last 2 months. The first time, was for a new battery. It was a snowy, cold Sunday and thankfully they were open. They were quick and very helpful. The second time was when the catalytic converter was stolen off the car, again quick helpful and polite. My husband came with me and he brought our dog, they saw the dog and told us we could bring her in. They had doggie treats and everything. My dog liked them and you know, a dog is good at judging people. So yes I will come back if I need them again and totally recommend them. Thanks guys :-)

I came to for Cleveland for the weekend and on my way home I noticed a flat tire. Just my luck. Paranoid and needing to get home I rushed it over to the nearest tire shop anything I could find. Being honest, i have had the worst experiences ever with these kinds of places and was so skeptical. I’m used to be being treated super rudely when asking any questions and always being ripped off. The owner Loren rushed to Great my concerned face along with the other staff. They literally stopped everything they were doing to rush over to this poor paranoid girl. Right away they got me in the shop and they explained everything in detail about what they were doing and why they were doing it - something i never had before. I was actually learning something about cars..... it ended up being a flat tire because of a nail. They assured me right away and guaranteed that i would be okay. Everything you’ve never experienced in a car service center. Friendly introductions, warmth, honesty, and fun. That’s right, fun. Went in with low tire pressure and left laughing. Even my 9 month old was entertained. While checking my spare (just to make sure it was in good shape, because why not be even more helpful) they brought it inside to show me how “cool” it was. I had a slow leak in my front passenger side tire. When I brought it in, there were two people in front of me. By Allen at the desk said they'd get to it asap, check it out, and hopefully could get it fixed in 30 minutes if nothing major. Sure enough, I came back 30 minutes later, Allen let me know I had a nail in my tire, they got it patched for $34, and I was on my way. He didn't try to sell me anything else, to say something else was wrong with my car (as so many car shops do). He actually said the car was great aside from the tire. Overall it was a great experience, and I'll definitely go back should I need anything for my car moving forward.

Wow, Tuffy's really knows how to take care of there customers. I I was 8 hours away from home and made the made the mistake to go to Pep Boy's with some minor brake maintenance and after 4 hours of waiting I left having an even bigger issue that before and of course it was going to cost hundreds of dollars. I've had both my vehicles at tuffy's for repair. I had been trying to fix one for a few months so when I tried tuffy's they knew what it was right away. Their prices aren't as high as most places are. They explain what they had to do and how the system in both vehicles worked. I'm sure everyone knows how it feels when your vehicle breaks down and your worried about being taken advantage of by auto care places... that didn't happen at tuffy's. They've got my respect and are my mechanics for now on...... thanks guy's

My wife and I recently bought a new car - our first while living in Chicago. We received our license plates in the mail, but we didn't have the tools required to attach the front license plate. We took the car and plate to the guys at Tuffy and not only did they install the plate in less than 15 minutes, they also didn't charge me a penny. The dealer I called earlier in the day was going to charge me $120. Needless to say, I am incredibly appreciative and these guys just earned my future business on any auto service I might need in the future!
