I took my car to George’s and Khadir was amazing. He changed my blinker light for free and fixed what was wrong with my car very quickly. The prices were also very good! As a young woman who doesn’t know anything about cars I always worry about getting ripped off at shops but this was not the case. He was super helpful and explained everything to me so I understood. He even noticed a rip in my tire and made sure I knew that it needed to be fixed (very thankful that he noticed because I was about to go on a 4 hour road trip without knowing I had a rip in my tire). I will definitely be bringing my car back whenever I need anything done! If you are looking for a good trustworthy place to bring your car this is definitely it!

I unfortunately had my catalytic converter stolen on the same block as this auto shop. They heard me try to start my car the next morning and knew what had happened. Apparently this act of theft has become widespread not only in Chicago, but nationwide. Khadir and his crew were a pleasure to work with. Brought my ancient little honda civic in to check on an issue, including a rattle that was getting embarrassingly loud. In the process of looking into it, Khadir found that I was practically running on no oil (I know I burn through oil and try to check it regularly and add more as needed, but fell behind lately), found the reason for the rattle, and quoted me for the parts and labor on the original issue. Unfortunately my dad is the owner of the car so I had to clear it with him before proceeding with repairs, and of course he was stubborn and wanted to handle it himself. I felt like a jerk for wasting Khadir's time to take a look at the issue and draw up the quote but then not move forward with the repair, but he was very understanding and didn't push it or make me feel bad. We went ahead with the oil change and he fixed the rattle free of charge. Really kind, understanding, generous guy to work with. Will definitely be back.

I second C Laurent's review, Khadir is the only guy I trust with my car repairs. Started out with an oil change last summer, then a second oil change, and today I had my axyl replaced, pretty much needed a new front suspension. New front right axyl, front struts, and stabilizer links on both sides, lifetime warranty plus a little oil - all for $1200. It drives like new, and I feel very confident I'll be going back for my rear suspension. Very dependable, and lets you know everything. Quality job.

Went in to get an oil change, Khardir took the time to get to know me and my car and help identify some issues and diagnosis some problems I had a feeling about. He had my fluids topped off and even rotated my tires since my front tires were pretty worn out. I prefer the service here to big names because they take every new client personally and that is the type of relationship you want with someone who is helping you keep your car running. Will be back again post-holiday to start fixing problem areas and prolong my Jeep.

*UPDATE* Been back to George's twice, once for another oil change, and then again for a full brake job and maintenance to my car's exhaust. When I called about the brake job/exhaust, they got me in the very next morning, and they were finished by lunch. The brakes are working perfectly, and my car is now super quiet. It's like I'm driving a brand new car. And they gave me a great deal on the price. Needed a headlight bulb replaced and an oil change, and they were able to take care of both within two hours of me calling. Khadir was very thoughtful in explaining what contributed to the bulb burnout, and he fixed that issue, too. Highly recommend for fair prices and excellent work!

Took a '94 CRV to Abe's Auto, Logan Square Auto, etc, kept getting the runaround on fixing the door (wouldn't open or lock). It would be too expensive, can't do it, impossible to get the part, etc. Khadir just made it seem straightforward to do, and gave me the lowest quote I'd gotten. Pretty happy - nice guy, good work, quick and easy. Definitely going to be a repeat customer.

After calling multiple repair shops in the area who were not able to provide pricing or fair pricing on the services I needed done, I spoke on the phone with Khadir and was able to bring in my car the next day without an appointment. Khadir was so helpful and was able to provide me the best pricing for the services I needed done. While waiting, he had me come in the shop to show me the old versus new parts for my car and did not try to sell me any services I did not need. I had an oil change, front and rear differential fluid change, transmission fluid change, and new rotors/brake pads replaced on the car and it was all completed within a day at a fraction of the dealer cost. I was unable to get my car the night before and Khadir even came in on his day off before a holiday weekend. I will definitely be coming back!

Khadir was very friendly and helpful while fixing my truck! I brought it in for a few different repairs on a Tuesday afternoon, and needed it back on Friday to use for the weekend. Great service and great communication. I brought my 2012 Nissan Murano SL in for new brakes and an oil change, which was done quick. When my AC converter gave out recently, I brought it in and they worked on it past closing time to get it back to me the same day. I will be back when it's time to fix my exhaust!

The moment I came in, Khadir was very welcoming, polite, and professional. He was familiar with the whole insurance process and I felt like my car was in good hands the whole time. This place was the cheapest I found anywhere to fix my exhaust. The gentleman told me it would take about 2 hours to fix and it only took about 40 minutes how convenient!!! I brought my car in to repair the AC before a road trip and, naturally, it needed way more work than I realized (brakes, battery, tune up -- the works). With the laundry list of repairs, I didn't expect the car back until the following week, so I began to make plans to rent a car. Khadir worked his butt off on a 90 degree Saturday to get my car fixed up in time for my trip so I wouldn't have the added expense of the car rental -- and gave me an impossibly good rate to boot. About 2 weeks ago I was calling places and looking for a place to get my car fixed, to have a new oil pan installed for my honda I came across George's Automotive Repair on Google, this place had a lot of positive reviews. I called and spoke with the garage ow er Khadir Ghanayem he said to bring the car in so he can take a look. Upon arriving Khadir said he would call me once finished, in no time at all he called and said my car was ready, the price was fair better than most other places, what I was impressed by was the sense of comfort I felt from him,I felt I can really trust him,he got straight to the point and explained everything. Now today Saturday August 21,2021 I am back at George's with another minor issue and having George's (Khadir)take care of it. I do recommend any and everyone with a car issue to consider taking there car to George's Automotive Repair. They are reliable and do good work. I never do these reviews cause I can hardly find the time or just don't feel worthy of anyone receiving them,but in this case I made an exception, cause they are truly worthy of my 5 star review. This is the only garage I will trust with my automotive repairs. The team is always friendly and they do the job right. They offer a warranty, but the work is so great, you will never need to call them on it. Recently, my car was stranded on the other side of town. I took a cab home and the next morning, I stopped in to see if they could accommodate my repair. Not only were they able to, but they even arranged to have my car towed for me. These guys are the best in town. My repair was pretty extensive, and they not only did it right, they had it ready for me on the same day. Some may say that the prices are high ( I think they are very fair), but the cost of peace of mind is priceless. Khadir and the guys at this place will get all my repairs from here on out!

I needed my rear brakes fixed and a friend recommended George's Auto Repair and to speak to Khadir. I pulled up without calling ahead and they immediately took a look and gave me an estimate well below what the dealership quoted me. They finished within 2 hours and went above and beyond as my brakes needed more work than expected which would've cost more but they stood by their estimate price. Who gives a mechanic 5 stars, right? Well, this shop earns it! I'm sorry we didn't use George's sooner as we live in the neighborhood. Our older car was acting odd and I thought I'd have to have it towed - Khadir came out with another guy and they took it to their shop, diagnosed the issue, gave us a fair price and had it fixed very quickly. When we went in again a few months later for another repair, he gave us an honest assessment and showed us where we should replace some things to make the car good as new. It's now running wonderfully. We'll be using George's for both our cars for all repairs from now on. We feel so happy to have found a great mechanic in our neighborhood no less.

I have taken my car into George's three times for repairs and also an oil change. The work they have done has been excellent and very fairly priced. Khadir seems to really enjoy making his customers happy. He even added grease to the hinges on my car doors to stop the annoying squeaking. Let me start out by saying this...I have a long history of car trouble and bad luck with mechanics. After going to Georges Automotive Repair, I absolutely refuse to take my car anywhere else. I was left stranded on the side of the road after another local shop (Lucas cough Tire cough) screwed up my oil change. The shops insurance paid to fix the car but I desperately needed to find somewhere with competent and experienced mechanics. After a lot of research I found George's Automotive Repair. Khadir is the main guy who deals with the customers. He has been working in that shop since he was 16 years old and I have 100% confidence that he and the team will take great care of my car. He's just that kind of person you meet and instantly know that you came to the right place. These guys offered a super fair price for replacing our engine. They beat several other shops estimates by a pretty large amount. I even ended up with an engine with 50k less miles than my original engine! Wow! The car runs like a champ and I am totally satisfied. If you're looking for a good auto shop....LOOK NO FURTHER! TAKE YOUR CAR HERE AND YOU WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF!

My car nearly died on 94. Fortunately I was able to take the ramp and to George's around the corner, which was a Godsend. He came out, listened to my car and had the hood up and a diagnosis in less than 20 minutes. He was able to fix it the next day and kept in touch with me by text and calls to let me know how it was going and sent photos to show the work being done. His prices are more than fair, does excellent quality work, he explains everything, and I was glad that, if my car were going to brake down, it was near George's. This was my second time visiting George's auto repair. The first time for an oil change, my second time need lights replaced from headlights to fog lights. The mechanics are honest and friendly. The manager Khadir makes all his customers feel welcomed too. I found that like most auto shops out here on Chicago, you're gonna get what you pay for. That being said, George's auto shop gave me best price and with time efficient results. I was in and out In no time on both visits. Will definitely keep bringing my car here from no on just because of quickly they work when I needed to be at work at certain time. This shop was a life saver a cold, Chicago -Friday morning.

Great experience here. Was calling around to get my tailpipe fixed, it had a serious break in it near the muffler. T shop was super helpful on the phone, and very accommodating once I dropped my van off. Quick turnaround, good communication, and the van no longer leaks exhaust and noise! Very happy, will return. Khadir and the crew are fantastic here. My VW Jetta was having some weird issues with the hood wiring when I bought it initially. Turns out, Khadir checks around the entire car and check out what else is going on in the car. I really appreciate the fact that he wants to show you the issue and educate the customer on what is wrong and show you in person the problem and the solution. I needed a suspension repair done as my struts and all definetly weren't looking so hot, he also pointed out an oil leak issue I was having as well. Saved up some money and came back to do the repair about 3 months later. The repair took about 2 days, after that, all was well! I noticed I was still leaking lots of oil after the repair, I immediately called back once I noticed the leaks, Khadir and team owned up to the mistake and fixed it at no cost. If I ever need future car repairs, I'll definitely only bring it here (took a while to find a reliable shop/mechanic). Great service, not pushy at all, and better prices compared to most local shops and MUCH more affordable than chains and dealerships. 5 stars for sure!

I came to George's Auto repair after reading the great reviews he received from everyone else. My visit was beyond expectation. Khadir was extremely personable and professional. He took the time to explain to me what was wrong, what needed to be done, and took it a step further to let me know step by step how they would do it. He gave me the most reasonable quote. When I went to pick up my car it was spectacular. He was true to his word on the cost and he showed me the actual parts that he replaced to see how damaged they were. My splash guard on my honda fit detached, again. I was referred to George's and it took no time at all to fix. We called ahead to make sure if I could get in the next day. They were really flexible! Not only does my original review still stand, but I want to add an unofficial 6th star. Not only do these guys do great work and really take care of their customers, but they go above and beyond. They even will go back and fix what others have screwed up on your car, so you can drive in peace and without worry. Again, there aren't many shops like this one. I recommend it to everyone that needs car work done. This place is a rare find. George's shows customers a level of care and respect that is hard to find with mechanics. They do great work. They use high quality parts. And their prices are great, very competitive. A neighborhood mechanic all the way, his clientele is local and come back when they need more work. Definitely recommended for anyone that is looking for a great mechanic.

Khadir is super friendly and instantly identified what was wrong with my car and showed the issues to me so I could see them for myself within minutes of arriving, including some pretty serious safety concerns that I had no idea about but that are typical for my make/model. He gave me an initial estimate on the spot, and called me first thing the next morning with a full breakdown and detailed quote. He completed the work much sooner than I expected, and was even flexible about holding my car an extra day since I was traveling while he had it. The customer service is really above and beyond, and my car now drives beautifully and much more safely!

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars because that's the treatment I got here at George's. There is a reason this place has been around for 40 years! Khadir is one of the nicest mechanics you'll meet and from the moment you speak with him, you can tell he genuinely loves his business and his customers. I dropped my '07 Civic off a few minutes before they closed along with the diagnosis I received from the Honda dealer. Khadir called me promptly the next morning to go over everything I needed done. He went on to tell me that he just wants to take care of his customers and therefore he does not charge overhead fees like most dealers do. He explained in detail what work was absolutely necessary and what could wait. During our call, I expressed interest in new hub caps and he told me ordering directly from Honda would be costly so he offered to drive out and find me some options. He gave me an estimate over the phone, made sure I was comfortable with it, and told me he would have the car ready the next day (and promised he wouldn't go over the estimate.) Khadir texted me less than an hour later with hubcap options. Around 3pm, he told me my car would be ready that evening! I arrived around 5:45 and had to wait a few minutes because he was getting the inside AND outside of my car cleaned. In that time, Khadir explained everything he did to my car, including showing me all the old/broken parts. His enthusiasm and pride in his work was apparent. As I left, he told me to call him anytime with any issues or concerns. This man and his team are truly great and a blessing to Chicago car owners. I was nervous to take my car in to get it fixed as I know absolutely nothing about cars. Khadir and his team made me feel welcome and truly comfortable. I will most definitely be bringing my car back here regularly for oil changes and routine maintenance and I encourage anyone reading this to do the same!

I was referred to George's Automotive by a friend who had a great experience so I went in when I needed a new bumper (someone hit it while it was parked and ran) for my 1995 Honda Accord. I've lived in Logan Square for 12 years and am kicking myself for not discovering George's sooner. The head mechanic, Khadir got me out of a jam today. Car had been starting slow, feared it was something worse than just a junk battery. It was a junk battery, and when I called about my car not starting Khadir said he was on the road and nearby, happy to either jump it or pull it back to the shop. No towing fee, which was $80 saved right there. Replaced battery, noticed there was a misfire, replaced spark plugs and few other parts I had let go for too long. Everyone knows someone who knows a good mechanic, but if you go to George's and meet Khadir, you can be the person who knows a good mechanic. They are honest, quick and like the Sopranos. He was straightforward and honest about everything, brought in my 20 year old rust-mobile with a rusted out rear brake line and he told me what it would take to fix my problem, and what it might cost extra if one of the really rusty parts he had to work with ended up breaking. Brought the car in Thursday night, got a call Friday morning before 9AM that he already had it done. Exceptional service and well run. The quality of the repairs was above what I expected. Out of the many many places I got estimates from, George's was the only place where the owner seemed to take pride in their work and took time to connect with the customer. The work was done faster than I had imagined (a week faster other estimates), and when it was completed it looked better than when it rolled off the showroom floor a few years ago. The price quoted was the price asked and the level of attention to detail was top notch. Can't recommend Khadir enough! Dude took a look at my car, broke some bad news to me really gently and said he'd take care of everything. I needed new shocks, struts, brakes, suspension, sway bars, everything. I felt really overwhelmed at first, but he assured me he'd make my car safe to drive. I brought the car in on Tuesday and said I needed it by Saturday; on THURSDAY I got a text saying he'd finished the whole thing! I got SO lucky. He put in all new Moog parts (with lifetime guarantees!) on my sweet Buick, gave me great advice about maintenance and even threw in a complimentary side mirror that my boyfriend accidentally knocked off. Khadir and Jon are the best. My car had a transmission issue that was ruining my car and stopping me from passing my emissions test. Other mechanics wouldn't even attempt to look at it....their solution was to just replace it. Khadir actually attempted to fix it, to save me some money, but the final solution did end up with me needing a transmission swap (which I figured as much). Khadir ended up finding a good transmission for me, swapped it out in like...a day, and I was able to pass my emissions test, no problem. If he didn't come through like that, my options were to either junk the car and buy a new one, that I don't need, or spend a butt load of money on a new transmission and be broke forever. I will definitely be going back to them for any car issues. They saved the day....and my wallet.

I love this shop, every time I've been there, I've had a great experience. My most recent visit was unplanned, as I took my other half's car to run errands and discovered and it had developed some scary quirks since the last time I drove it. I drove over to George's, and Khadir took the car for a drive with me, knew exactly what was wrong, and then had the guys put the car up onto the lift to confirm. I had to get new control arms and inner tie rods on both side of the car, the cost was $1100 (included an alignment as well), that included using parts with a lifetime warranty, one of the control arms was ready to break when I brought it in and lucky for me, the guys were able to take my car in and get to work the same day (Saturday afternoon), Khadir was nice enough to give me a ride home and even offered to pick me up when my car was ready as well, and it was ready for me to pick it up by mid-morning on Monday. Khadir had me go on a drive with him before I paid to make sure all of the issues were resolved, and told me the little additional things we might want to consider fixing on the car, but was quick to point out that none of them were urgent and that he had only insisted on fixing the critical issues. Our car drives beautifully now, until Chicago winter roads get to it again. I really like this shop, I trust the guys fixing my car, I trust Khadir to be honest and fair, and it's a mile down the road from where we live -- what else could we ask for?

Went in last Saturday to get my girlfriend's oil changed because she had a Groupon for it. Didn't think it was going to be much more than a standard oil change. However, when I arrived, Khadir greeted me at the front, and immediately welcomed me to sit in his office with him while the car was worked on. I mentioned that we had a dent in the front, which was quoted by the insurance company as going to run us about $900 to fix, and he said they could pound it out on the spot for $80. I live a few blocks away from the shop read the reviews and gave them a call my car would not start so I asked if they had a tow truck to move my car and the guy on the phone offered to send one of his guys to pull my car with one of their trucks we got the car to the shop around noon and they were done with the car at around 3:30 same day. These guys operate on another level, I'm not sure if they even sleep because they finished my car in a couple hours. You could probably just bring them a bucket full of parts and somehow these guys are going to make it work. During the 51 point inspection, we learned that my car it's going to need smoke test to figure out where a leak is at. They've got the latest cutting-edge technology and they're going to resuscitate my exhaust system with smoke to pinpoint where a leak is at with 99% accuracy. Talk about mind blowing! Cant wait! Some other cool things to know is that if you've got some scrap metal you want to recycle they'll take it next door and there's some chickens around the corner that you can feed while you wait for your car!
