Awesome experience in this shop, i was desesperated for get my car fix and the dealer was completely book at the time. I only owe 1 car and to be able to get a rental the car have to be on the shop for more than 2 days. It was so crazy for me. I call them and they take my car right away I took it late that's way he told me he can have it ready for next day. Omg he was really kind he offered an Uber to get back home. I am really thankful and this will be my shop for now on. Thank you so much for your help!!!

Simply the best auto repair shop. They are honest, competent, and professional. In April 2022, my elderly father's 2006 Honda Civic needed a new engine. After explaining the options, Alex’s team installed a recycled engine with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. The price was fair and, as I live out of town, they delivered the repaired vehicle to my father’s Portage Park home. Later in the year, we had E&J replace the brakes. And, just recently, when the car wouldn’t start, they replaced the starter and battery. Each time, we received quality, timely and friendly service, at a fair price, along with thorough explanations. Thank you for providing a repair shop we can trust with exceptional customer service. We will not take our cars anywhere else.

They give you very detailed pictures of what needs to be done but they did not give me pictures of the completed work. I feel that is very important for the customer to see. Alex said they could put my car up on the rack to see it but all the racks had vehicles. I haven’t driven much since the work was done but so far everything seems to be fine.

I was given a $4,000+ estimate by a local dealership for numerous issues. They basically deemed my vehicle unsafe to drive, which led to me seriously considering selling my vehicle. I took my car to E&J for a second-opinion and last resort. I told Alex what I “needed” done. I was surprised when he called me back and mentioned that 90% of the items on my list did not need repairs. He could have easily taken my money, but instead I paid $350 for a window motor repair and my vehicle is running perfectly fine. I can’t say enough great things about this business and service. My AC wasn't working, and my tire maintenance light was on. John who was at the front desk was very respectful and friendly. About two hours later I received a text as well as an e-mail with all the details about my car inspection, and what was wrong. Included were pictures and names of the men working on my car. I was very impressed. I spoke on the phone with them immediately after and everything was broken down, and clearly explained to me. I was given an estimate and time frame which were both spot on. The service was timely, and my vehicle was back in shape in no time. It wasn't overpriced, and they didn't inflate the labor cost. I highly recommend this place!

I will never use another auto shop in Chicago. E&J is just that good. I've used them for suspension work, tire rotations, wheel alignments and just your general oil change. They are extremely honest, thorough and helpful. I've never felt pressured to do any work That seemed unecessary. They also back up all their inspections with pictures, which is really great if you don't regularly check your engine or undercarriage for what looks like it might need maintenance.

I get extremely nervous about taking my car to anywhere new, but my regular shop doesn't do smoke testing for evap leaks and that's beyond the scope of what I feel comfortable doing myself, so I had no choice to look elsewhere. I swear to God, my car is the most temperamental princess you've ever met--it has a mind of its own and gets grumpy when I let anyone touch it but me. I picked this shop for the great reviews and prayed my car would behave. The repair cost a bit more than I expected based on the cost of the part, but I needed it done and didn't want to shop around so gave the green light for the repair and change spark plugs while they were at it (I was feeling lazy). I deleted a whole paragraph on how my car threw a fit, not necessary to review but yes of course it did NOT behave and ended up having to get towed back to the shop the next morning which the owner arranged for me when I called! Ideally I was praying I wouldn't be charged extra since my car clearly was acting up because of the tuneup, but practically I know there was extra time put into the car, plus a tow, and everyone deserves to get paid for their time. To my relief, when I picked up the car for the final time, no extra charge, just apologies for keeping the car overnight and an explanation of what they did to get her to quit having a fit 😂 You can tell from interacting with the mechanics, the service advisor and the owner that they genuinely care about their work and are committed to making things right when something goes wrong. That's a gem these days. They're also partnered with RepairPal so if you know what needs to get done, you can get a quote online and request that specific repair through them for a fair price! Will definitely be recommending them to my clients and family!

I took my Acura to E&J several months ago for a major overhaul, Brakes, all belts including timing and general maintenance. The work done was exceptional as well as the price! My electric car stopped charging. Brought it in and the staff worked hard to root cause the issue. They even contacted the manufacturer to find out there was a software issue. One day while driving on the highway, my Infiniti Coupe seemed to start losing power so I immediately got off the highway not knowing how long I would have the car being functional. I began to look at the closest auto service shop near me and found E & J Auto Service. E & J has always been my go to service center. I recently purchased tires using another source. They advised me that my alignment was a little off. I thanked them for bringing this to my attention and told them I have a mechanic I trust and will take this information to them. When I went in for my oil change this past week I told them about the alignment. Since E & J had just done an alignment in recent months, they rechecked my alignment and adjusted what was needed. No additional charge! E & J always stands behind any service they perform. No questions asked! Just great honest service! I will always trust them with all of my mechanical needs. I have been going to them for years even before they moved to this location. A must place to go to for all your service needs!

E&J Auto Service is a great place to get your car serviced on the Northwest side of Chicago. The shop is spotless. The staff is friendly and professional. They do fair and honest work. I needed some work done to my 12 year old car. The manager called me and gave me his opinion on what needed to be done right away and what could wait. The car was ready when they said it would be - they even washed it! A couple of weeks later, I received a thank you card in the mail, with a gift card saying lunch was on them! I blew out a tire on my way to work and was towed to the closest tire shop since my regular shop was too far. I was expecting the worst due to my situation and because I’ve used the same shop for 15 years. The service here far exceeded my expectations! The pricing was fair and exactly what they said it’d be. I have been going to this location before E and J bought them out. I am very happy with the honest service they provide and the price they provide it at. I most recently went there to get a starter replaced due to an oil leak after having it replaced 6 months earlier. They were able to get it replaced under warranty. A few days later I started having a problem due to the repair and they were able to get me in and fix it right away with no problems. I like the text message notifications as well as the report online that shows everything they inspected and fixed along with pictures of everything. I have an older car and I'm happy they didn't try to sell me things I didn't have to get taken care of right away. They're also open early, making it easy to schedule things around getting my car there. I will continue to come here for any future repairs.

I am the 3rd generation going to E & J. We have been going there for over 45 years. John has continued and enhanced the service that his father provided. The new facility is awesome. After the car is inspected, I recieve a text with the diagnosis. This is helpful to me because I can see exactly what the problem is. This time I had a cracked motor mount. The picture allowed me to understand the nature of the problem and have the confidence to authorize the work. They have always been honest and do great work. I recommend them highly.

Took my vehicle here for an oil change in late-October of 2018. Alex, the service advisor, was very courteous and professional. They did a complimentary multi-point inspection and provided a comprehensive report (which was emailed to me) of anything I should get further checked out on my vehicle (replace air filters, tire rotation, etc.). The price of the oil change was a bit higher than I'd like to pay, but overall the experience was a good one. I would recommend E&J Auto Service to anyone who needs their vehicle to be serviced.

Great experience having my oil changed and tires rotated by E&J! I called and booked an 8am appointment and mentioned I would wait for the service to be finished. The staff was friendly and forthcoming about price, work to be completed, and future considerations/maintenance. The waiting area was very clean and comfortable including complimentary coffee. E&J was about a 20 min drive from my home in Lakeview but the service and the Napa AutoCare Gold Service rated staff made the trip well worth it. I couldn't imagine taking my vehicle somewhere else in the future!

I actually took my car in twice. The first time the work was done far better than I expected. When I got my invoice, Alex was sure to add the fact that more work would need to be done. When I had to take my vehicle back for those repairs, I was at ease because I knew they would take care of my vehicle. Service was prompt, and very complete. I asked for and got a complete exam for my old car that I'd like to hang onto for a few more years. They found a problem that most places don't look for. I always prefer to have a problem fixed if possible before having a breakdown on the road. Their prices are reasonable compared to other service stations and way less than dealerships.

I will admit I had my doubts about this place. I have been taken advantage by Mobility Works both in Niles and Villa Park. Every time I go there it's at least a $1000 to fix whatever is wrong with our 2012 Dodge caravan. It is wheelchair accessible so its basically the only place that knows about wheelchair vans. I had already taken it to 2 places and had them charge the air. The 2nd time was at mobility works where they charged me $400. They told me they charged it and put the die in it. In a few weeks the air was go e again. I decided to go to E&J because I didn't want to have to drive an hour to get it fixed and be inconvenienced once again by Mobility works. The had quoted me $2000 to fix the air conditioning and I would have to wait 3 weeks for a part . E& J charged me basically half the price and had it ready the same day. I only had to wall a couple of blocks to get it and it has a 24 month warranty. They also called me a week later to ask how things were going. That's customer service!. Thank you E&J! You have made my son and I very happy and comfortable again.😘

E&J saved us hundreds of dollars. My previous mechanic told us he couldn't find the part we needed for our older vehicle. John from E&J not only found the part, but after he inspected the vehicle saw that the new part wasn't really needed. Very high level of professionalism and integrity. My 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid had an electrical problem and the first mechanic said the problem was the main Hybrid Batter Pack - which is the most expensive thing on the car to fix. The symptoms did not seem to guarantee that but he was not cooperative and insisted that "unless the main battery is replaced the car will never be right". I took the car to E & J. It turned out to be something totally different. They diagnosed it with skill and it's now fixed. It was a complex issue to diagnose. Turned out to be ignition coils. And now I have a confession to make. I tested them several years ago (and they passed obviously). I heard a weird rhythmic noise close to the front right wheel and my inspection showed a small piece of molding/plastic was rubbing against the wheel. The sound that it was making caused me to think it was more serious but there it was. E & J had just moved to the new location down the street (about 100 yards from my house) and I said to myself "lets give this mechanic a test". I took it down there and he said "it's just a little piece of plastic rubbing on the tire". I think he even fixed it for free (with scissors right there). I have had them do maybe 5 or 6 repairs since then and they are great.

E & J has been my trusted car mechanic for almost 20 years. This past Friday I was on my way heading out of town for the weekend on a trip of just over a hundred miles. Five minutes into the trip I heard a strange noise every time my front tire rotated, and discovered I had run over a hex head lag screw. Air was not leaking from the tire yet, but it likely would be soon and it would have been unsafe to continue. It was 50 minutes before closing time at E and J, so I called them and described the situation and said I was 10 minutes away from the shop. They said they could take care of it before closing, so I stopped there and in less than 30 minutes I was on my way with a repaired tire. And the best part was that because I had purchased my tires there, the repair was under warranty so there was no cost to getting the tire fixed! Thank you E & J!

I wanted a second look so gave this shop a try and WOW! Great friendly service and explained every process in detail. So the end results? Update: Owner called and made it right as best he could. Some respect had been lost even though employee turnover occurred after my experience. While I likely will not go back, I do appreciate the owner doing his best to mitigate the misdiagnosis after the fact. He refunded my money for the inspection. So for that I'm glad. - Very disappointed. Gave them a shot because I was trying to diagnose why I was having steering problems/suspension noise. They did a test drive and supposedly a deep inspection which they charged me $100+ for (was leery about this from beginning because most places offer free quotes) plus a shop fee for parts even though they didn't replace anything (didn't see the sneaky tacked on fee on my receipt til I got home and was never warned there was going to be one). They said it was likely the Cv joints even though the boots were NOT torn and there was no clicking when turning vehicle. They said they couldn't prove it with out tearing open the boots and then they would have to be replaced anyways. Long story long I went for a 2ND opinion and it was found to be the lower control arms, ball joint. That mechanic straight forward told me if E & J was trying to convince me to replace CV without clicking and not torn, that they were "Full of $%!t". Good thing I went for 2ND opinion otherwise I would have paid $700 for something I didn't need and still would have had the same problem. Want my ~$100 back!!! Waste of time and money! P.S. Also they inspected my back brakes and said squeeking was sign of good pads (sounded like metal on metal). 2ND opinion found one caliper to not be fully functional and rotors were warped. Trust is hard to come by in Auto Repair industry and this place failed...
