German Auto Service has been my preferred service provider for about five years…through my first BMW, and continuing with my second. Given my experiences there, this review is long overdue. The staff presents with friendly professionalism. They have offered good direction on needed services and repairs: indicating what requires immediate attention, and what can be monitored and addressed later. GAS’s experience allows them to offer suggestions for future service and improvements specific to my vehicles. They have been aware of things that I certainly wasn’t. Obviously, I trust German Auto Service. Give them your business, and you will too. Stop by and check out their new location…have that noise checked out, schedule to have an oil change, have an alignment done after a pot-hole riddled winter. Grab a coffee and check out the cars while you wait. It’s worth it.

My first time at German Auto Service's beautiful (and spotless) new facility. Joe Z. handled the minor (for him, not me) repair and gave me a comprehensive checkup on other aspects of the Cayman. The GAS guys are true experts, and the place runs with a real German efficiency. It was nice to be back. (Note to Audi folks: GAS has probably the most accomplished Audi service tech in the area in the person of Dan Cox. You won't find a more talented tech.) Thanks for the excellent service, Ben. The Cayman will be back for pre-winter services in September or October.

The BEST Euro shop in West Michigan. They’ve worked on all three of my cars now, and I have no issue driving 45 minutes out of the way to get them worked on here vs the other guys. German Auto Service is very professional and they have a tier 1 service shop and location, that can can handle anything you throw at them. From alignments to major work, they have the right tools and technicians for the job. Super thorough work and done in a timely fashion, too. Josh and Drew up front are great, too!! Super friendly with a clean waiting area if you need. They simply continue to go above and beyond to meet my high expectations for my fine Euro cars!

Truly top notch service from these guys. This place should be the standard of auto service. I had them replace my dual mass flywheel and swap my brake fluid. The work was done quick, and the car is ready to drive another 100,000 miles. I love their online checklist system where they take pictures of the issues and inform you of exactly what they think needs to be done. It also allows you to approve or deny of the services they recommend. I will take my car here for any service that I don't want to do myself.

Truly,hands down, a better than any experience with a garage I have been too. The experience would be akin to the difference between going to a high end espresso bar over a McDonald’s for your coffee. My inspection was covered with suggested work, notes to back up those suggestions, and pictures and videos to document what is happening under your car. Truly am over the moon with my experience and I haven’t even picked up my car yet!

GAS knocked it out of the park again for caring for my German cars. I brought them a Euro-spec BMW with a catastrophic overheat and they put together a plan to get the old beast back on the road. They helped source the hard to find parts the repair needed and put one of their best techs in charge of the rebuild. I'm always impressed with their ability to handle the difficult projects I bring them!

It was my first time taking my car here for an oil change, not only did they perform the service they also found the air leak in my tire and squeezed in time to replace the tire valve as well. German Auto Service, it seems, just cannot help themselves in their provision of both the best mechanical work on your German car, but also in terms of their unmatched and superlative customer service! This place is the “real deal” if you want and need the best service for your car (I think even Opels are included, if you’re old enough!). The customer service, in depth knowledge, and timeliness is the best in the business. I know people with new MB’s and BMW’s who eschew the dealer service and come right here for the service experience. They do it all: From a brand new S550 to a 65 years old MB 280, or ‘73 450 SEL, or a ‘67 911 or brand new. Highly recommend these guys and kudos to them for their honesty and full disclosure, fair prices, and dedication to the craft, the cars, and the customer.

Given the circumstances Ben and the guys did a professional job. I made the mistake of bringing my Q7 to a hack that was in way over his head! The car was with the hack"mechanic" for 2 1/2 months before I had it brought to German. It arrived to German partially disassembled and was further away from being fixed then when it was dropped off. I'm pretty sure if I would've looked into the reviews closer I probably would've cut my cost in half. That being said I'm not sure the hack mechanic didn't do more damage than not. It's running and I'm back to square 1 with the mmi not functioning but I just do not want to spend a lot of money on it so that's on me.

Nice new facility, very friendly. I appreciated the ride home after dropping off my car. I’m glad they moved closer to where I live. Top of the line reputation makes them trustworthy. Oil change and filter, mounted new Michelin pilot sport tires for a reasonable price (for a Porsche). And they were nice people. I’ve been to different places over the years for Porsche service and I’ll be going back to this one.

He was very attentive to my needs and desires and treated me as if I were his only/most important customer, calling me with updates and such. I’m not sure where to start- Besides to say I am SO grateful for Josh and the team at German Auto. A few months ago I began hearing a grinding noise on my 2018 Mercedes CLA 250 4matic. I initially brought my car to the Betten Imports Mercedes dealership. Betten Imports Mercedes dealership quoted the issue as being two front wheel bearing replacements with a cost of repair and other maintenance over $3,000. With the vehicle only having 55k miles, I knew that sounded sketchy- So I began looking for alternatives and came across the great reviews for German Auto Service- Long story short- I DID NOT need new wheel bearings- the noise was NOT even coming from the front of the vehicle. My issue was a FLUID change in my Haldex. German auto changed the fluid and completed the other maintenance for about $1,100. Big Surprise, No more noise! The service was top notch and Josh at G.A.S. kept me updated every step of the way! He was diligent, concerned, personable and flexible in communicating over the phone, through text and email directly. Steve transported me as I don’t have family/friends in this state and did not live too far away from the shop. The diagnostic report was detailed with photos! Transparency at its' finest! German Auto Service has my business from now on!!

I bought a 2014 Mercedes E350 wagon to carry a canoe and kayak on top and pull a small trailer. I did not realize that there there is really only one viable hitch maker for my my car -- Stealth Hitches. SH listed GAS as one of three local hitch installers and a friend had suggested them to service my car. The process did not go smoothly, due primarily to problems from SH with the wiring controller and a reluctance to work with GAS to solve the problem. Instead, SH's position was, "We don't understand why the problem is happening, we don't have a fix, and since it "kind of" works in one light mode (but was totally useless and dangerous in all the other modes) that should be good enough for the customer." For the price of the hitch this was not acceptable. I told GAS if it didn't work right I didn't want it. I was shocked that SH was willing to accept faulty trailer wiring, particularly with all the liability issues that businesses complain about these days. But GAS went to bat for me and pushed SH to to help solve the problem. The trailer wiring works perfectly in all light modes. I think both GAS and SH learned a lot from this installation. I'm very happy with GAS advocacy and persistence on my behalf. I know they put a ton more time into the installation than I was billed. The "European style" hitch is complicated, but robust. I hope SH improves their electrical engineering designs, their marketing and business practices and recognizes that folks who pay for their hitches do not want that "sort of" works on their high end cars. I'm only giving GAS 4 stars because I had to make an unnecessary trip into Grand Rapids only to find the first "fix" did not fix anything. But for that I would give them a five.

I am new to the community and did a little snooping to see who provides well-rated foreign car service. I also made a few calls before deciding. Josh treated me patiently and with courtesy. He scheduled my appointment in a reasonable time frame (considering COVID, etc.). The e-mail follow-up was efficient and simple to use. Josh was also adaptable in minor modifications to the service. The process of dropping off the car and picking it up was easy. I also received texts and e-mails as to the progress of the work. The work took care of the problem and the car was returned in good condition! It also cost about 25% less than what the car dealership would have charged. Thank you! Since posting this review, I returned 11/2022 because of this excellent first experience. Today, I dropped off the car for an oil change. I did not have an appointment but Josh worked me in. Josh asked if I'd like to wait (in their warm, comfortable waiting area) of if I needed a ride (I wasn't smart enough to ask, but assume they would have shuttled me home). I had anticipated that and had arranged to run some errands with my wife. Josh kept me informed as things progressed. Between texts and e-mails, everything went smoothly. I will keep going back!

German Auto Service, LTD customer service is paramount! The facilities are extremely clean. The staff were very polite and professional the entire time my car was being serviced. I received frequent updates on the status of my repair. Also the staff were extremely patient with me when I asked detailed questions. I'd like to give a special acknowledgement to staff Ben and Joe. They both in my opinion exemplify a level of professionalism that I wished all auto repair staff obtained. 5-27-2022 Recently visited the new facility. It's simply awesome. When I entered the facility it gave me a feeling of being in a dealership. Only difference is the same staff greet you with a customer service that's second to none. One thing I can say about this organization is they treat you like youre driving the latest newer model cars regardless of year of your car. This is the main reason I found German Auto. Once my car was older and out of warranty, the dealer that was providing me service seem to decline. With German Auto, all customers are treated with the highest quality no matter what you drive.

I’m having a problem with a Mercedes transmission. The local MB dealer had the car for the ENTIRE summer of 2020 and never solved the problem.... On the advice of a good friend, I gave German Auto Service a try. They did all the diagnoses they could without tearing the trans apart and came to the conclusion that I should try the dealer again. There are additional details that led German Auto to believe the Mercedes should stand by a prior repair and fix the car for me. German Auto Service was very professional and nice, but if you have an older car that is not luxury (think older Volvo) this is not the place to go - they charge over $250 just to diagnose! I took my vehicle to Housekamp Auto on Division in South GR, and they FIXED the problem for under $200.

The gents at GAS continue to set a high bar! They are the real pros who know all the German cars from the ground up: From the newest Mercedes Benz S Class to a 1956 Porsche 356 or a VW or BMW, and everything in between, GAS has you covered. They do great work, on time, right the first time, and at very fair prices. You could not ask for anyone better! They're not "cheap," nor do you want a "cheap" mechanic to work on your fine German automobile! But, they're quite fair and competitive in their fees. On top of that, they're great people who are members of the local community and whom we are proud to support and patronize. Their service is impeccable, and that is a real accolade for this reviewer, because I am quite particular about my cars! You cannot go wrong bringing your car to GAS! Highly recommend!

Transparent in repairs and cost, and have an INCREDIBLE tool that allows you to see the repairs in question, ALL notes regarding the repair, and it also allows you to approve/reject any additional repairs that were identified... all without having to call or go into the shop. German Auto Service did a full engine swap for my BMW M3. They were there for me the entire time, far beyond of what would be considered great customer service. Where BMW fell short, repeatedly, German Auto was there ALL.THE.TIME! The work performed was outstanding, their patience, customer service and craftsmanship is second to none! I did bring another of my vehicles in for just an oil change. German Auto had that completed faster than any quick oil change places, with a full complimentary vehicle inspection. I have a 2005 SL500 which overall, is in great condition. Like any car that is over 15 years old, things happen that need to be addressed. I recently had a hydraulic fluid leak that was hard (for me) to identify. I took it to German Auto Service and the issue was quickly identified and taken care of. They worked with me on scheduling the repair as I live out of town had had a limited schedule to get things done. As, always, they were proactive and transparent throughout the entire process. All I can is wow! These guys are awesome in every department. To start off I am familiar with cars and have worked on them for awhile but one area I am not great at is chasing electrical issues. I had a mini cooper that turned out to be a nightmare after I bought it and German Auto saved it after discovering multiple issues. I had an electrical/no-start issue with my 1991 8v GTI. After getting the run-around from two other shops for 6 months, and $2000 wasted on unneeded repairs that never resolved the original issue, I trailered the car 2 hours to GAS. Within four weeks, two trips, and half the bill of the other places THEY GOT IT DONE!!! They had the original issue pin-pointed within 2 hours and I was good to go after they fixed it! The issue temporarily popped back up after a few weeks (to no fault of their own) and they warrantied their work on a few parts no questions asked because they felt they should have dealt with it the first time! They run their business with honesty and integrity - which is rare with euro-shops nowadays. I can’t thank Ben enough for taking the time to answer all my questions and keeping in contact with me to keep me updated as much as possible as to what they were doing and where they were in the process. He gave repair recommendations on other stuff that eventually had to be to looked at, but never pressured me to have the shop do it and was very encouraging when asked if I could do those repairs on my own at home. Update: Just wanted to add a commendation to the German Auto crew in that they are committed to customer service and did everything they could to make up for the minor mistake in the repair. Like I said, it's a good small business and I recommend taking your German car here. -- Ben and crew know their stuff when it comes to German cars. And with that said, they (and hopefully you) know these fixes can be expensive. They are upfront with costs and typically very competitive price wise. It's important to note that most times diagnosing the problem is a standard flat fee of one hour of labor, and while understandable, it adds up quick and it would be my only nitpick of the process. But it is fair, just a little grind on the great experience. As to experience, I kind of had a bit of a bad time that, I think is out of character, but has to be noted. Got my car back after extensive fixes to all of the engine gaskets to repair a slow oil leak in the engine. After picking the car up, all seemed fine and well. Car was clean and in fine order. Got on the road for a work meeting in Ann Arbor and right around Portland, my car lost almost all of its power at any RPM range. Pulled over off the highway and (luckily) i have some tools in the trunk. So, with a shirt and a tie on I looked over the engine to see if there was something immediately noticeable as loose or disconnected so I would have to get my car towed all the way back to GR or wait for a fix in Portland (stranded). Found that the return line for the turbo charger had not been properly secured with a hose clamp, so I was able to replace it in short order and be on my way. Perhaps other customers would not have been as lucky. Additionally, I found two small tools left behind in the air intake for the cabin air under the windshield that, mercifully had not fallen into anything moving mechanically. That lack of attention to detail are my only reservations about giving them 5 stars. I would prefer this be a 3.5 star review, but since that is not an option, 4 it is since I respect and value small business owners and I am sure my experience was an outlier. Also, and perhaps this is part of the total Teutonic experience, but some of the guys behind the counter can be a little less than welcoming.

Just done my Mercedes AMG grille by today.Set an appointment very easy and quick. Friendly staff, get to the main point. I not feel any robbing at all. But the labor cost kind higher than other auto shop around USD20 per hour.(Cost me USD 100 per hour. I have been three shop before do my other car. They are cost 60-80 per hour). However, this shop was kind work for German car only. So I would like to pay extra USD20 for a shop who does have more experience for German car modification. I don't want someone mistake break anything or take more time to done it. On other hand, if I don't need "German car repair experience". That may not be my preferred shop on my first list. However,if you are looking for German car service，definitely check this shop.Overall, nice done, great job and 5 stars for sure.

OLD REVIEW: "Brought in my 2005 Audi A4 Quattro to get coolant flange replaced as it was leaking. Car was perfectly fine and running with no other problems when I dropped it off. When I picked it up, I could barely even start it! The engine misfired terribly, shook awfully, and could not drive over 20 MPH. I told the old man working there that there was no way I gave them the car this way. He then told me that is exactly how it was when they got it and wrote up a quote sheet for miscellaneous additional fixes including a bad engine coil-- all of which that totaled $750. I thought that was very suspicious, so I went home and researched my symptoms and found that I could DIY for $20 and under 5 minutes. I just had to get the part from Auto Zone. Sure enough, I fixed it! I spent 20 bucks for what could have cost me $750. Shame on you German Auto for your dishonesty!" I've used GAS to replace the timing belt and water pump as well as diagnose a cylinder misfire problem. They are a great garage that will treat your Euro Auto well. The only advice I can give, which is true to all shops and car problems is that the more information you can give them going in on what you believe the problem is the better. That way they can quickly find the problem and get you out the door satisfied.

I was looking for a shop to take my E46 M3 for its Inspection 2, which includes a valve adjustment. I chose to take my car to GAS based on the number of valve adjustments they do yearly, which is important to go to an experienced shop for that plus, they are an authorized Dinan shop so they also are able to do Dinan upgrades. I was pleased with the Inspection 2 and the great customer service. I am going back for a Dinan tune in a few weeks. If you are a serious Getman performance car owner, you should check out GAS
