We were in a jam. The muffler on my wife's car broke while driving on Friday from Montreal. For color my wife is a nervous driver. 50mph is a maximum speed ,passing is not allowed, the arm rest has multiple lines from stress scratches and driving in the rain is a tentative experience. Suffice to say that a repair of the broken muffler was her priority on Saturday morning or otherwise our four day fall vacation in Vermont was back to Canada. Open car repair shops in the Burlington area on a Saturday are as rare as Loch Ness sightings on Lake Champlain. Google led me to Midas. The experience was a more than pleasant surprise. From the most detailed computerized inspection service where safety transcends doubts about cross selling to the following professional completions:,repaired muffler, alternator belt replacement,steering revitalization,badly needed head light buffing as well as identification of minor oil leak and needed ball joint replacement,their investigation was thorough. The wait time of four hours was a piece of cake The client room is replete with fresh water, free coffee and Tv and a spotless floor. Front desk staff with great software are fully apprised of work in progress on your car and have the analytical skills to match those of the mechanics in the garage. Hunger intervened after several hours of legitimate wait. Literally Midas has everything. Next door is the incomparable institution, Al's French fries and their wonderful playground for children and parents alike, Marco's , a sandwich shop in need of rejuvenation and a block away,also served up a brilliant sub on home made fresh baguette. Bottom line: I found the Midas touch for car repair though safety of mind does not come cheap. For Canadian readers,the 31% premium on the US dollar is offset somewhat by only a 3.5%Vermont sales tax and then there is the good variety of area shopping less the US Border wait and the present high cost of gasoline.

I made an appointment to get my AC charged & oil changed before a road trip but they didn’t have it in the books when I showed up! But they took me anyway! I sat and watched a great group of mechanics and managers operate at the top of their game while my car was being worked on. Great experience, thanks guys!

A long over due review of my service and experience with Midas of South Burlington. The crew at Midas from start to finish was excellent. Although a muffler repair turned into a great deal more, it was work that needed to be done. With this being said, an hours worth of work turned into several which put me in a situation of not being able to get to work on the other side of Burlington. The gentleman working the counter was so thoughtful in arranging a ride for me with the owner-Pete! Not only was the work done well, but this customer service, well above and beyond cannot be beat. Thank you everyone at Midas and especially Pete for making an unplanned day into a very positive experience!

I highly recommend Midas for any of your car services. On my way there for an oil change, I had a flat tire. Once there, an issue was found with one of the other tires. I did leave the car overnight, but new tires wre ordered and installed by noon the next day. With new tires, and new oil, the car was ready to go. Kyle, thank you for the great service!

We were on a 7 day trip to Cape Cod-Boston, day two we got a flat tire! My tires are over sized and hard to find but the service rep. Found a correct size tire ( not the same brand but no fault of the rep.) size was crucial!! He even went and picked it up himself to save time for us! The tire was installed with no issues and we were able to get back on the road in under two hours which was unbelievable to us!! Great job and many thanks - S&L McD

Walked into the Midas shop to ask about getting my first Vermont car inspection and also asked if they could check the squeaking noises my car has been make recently. Jeff immediately offered to let me use a loaner car for no extra charge while they looked my car over. The next morning, I received a thorough list of things I needed to repair to pass the inspection and things that I probably should just repair in general. I also got a call from Jeff, who helped with any questions I had. When I picked up my car, I was given an estimate of what it would cost to do everything on the list I didn't have fixed, along with suggestions regarding what was most needed and when. Throughout the whole process, I felt very taken care of as a customer. Jeff and the rest of the Midas crew were helpful, clear, and gave informed guidance rather than trying to push anything on me. I will definitely be coming back over the next few months to fix what I can!

Service was great. staff was very friendly and helpful. i feel confident this business knows what they’re doing and will continue to trust them to work on my vehicles. my only complaint with them is that their estimates for how long a job will take are horrendously inaccurate. i understand they are understaffed and so there will be delays, as is the case with many businesses at the moment, but the staff at midas are not upfront about this. i was informed several times the work on my car would be “a 3-4 hour job”, but they ended up having my car for 26 hours. they did give me a loaner car to use since they were having issues, but only after calling them to check on my vehicle since i had not heard from them in the time frame they initially gave me. after picking up the loaner i asked if my car would be ready at a specific time the next morning and their reply was “i see no reason why it wouldn’t be”. when i called about a half an hour before that specific time to see if it was ready they told me they had just begun working on it. they do great work, they’re great at explaining issues and the importance of some things while what other things can wait. but they are not good at communicating accurate timing estimates. and as i said before, i can understand that they are understaffed and things will take longer than usual, i just expect to be told that upfront when i schedule an appointment with. i don’t understand why they told me multiple times that the work usually takes 3-4 hours if they knew they were understaffed and would need my car much longer than 3-4 hours. if they had been upfront about it then this review would be 5 stars.

We have been customers at Midas for years and continue to be very happy with them. The communication is good, and their thorough assessment of what the vehicle needs of a super helpful. We never feel pushed to do extra work, and they are good at telling us what can and cannot be put off. We bought new tires there recently, and ended up with a pice of metal in one of them, causing a slow leak. Tire repairs of tires bought from them are free, which is great!

Rust is a terrible problem in the North Eastern US. Midas has an undercoat spray that soaks in, kills the rust that is there, and repels it in the future. Because they recommended it when I first arrived, and because they explained if I touch it up every 6 months it will keep my car as rust free as possible considering all the conditions, my car is 99% rust free. That’s a feat! Thank you Midas! I love my car and want it around for as long as possible!

Proudest and happiest I’ve ever been with the work this MIDAS garage has done on my, at this point, older (2005) vehicle, and they’ve been doing awesome by me for going on 6 or 7 years now. I don’t think my attempts to keep my old box car alive necessarily make their lives easier by any means, but everything they did made my life easier in handling a ton of stuff I’d been neglecting. From communication to value and especially quality of the work itself, to everyone on the team, thanks again. I am not a fan of car repair shops bc I usually don’t have the most favorable experiences! This changed on June 9, 2021 when I went to Midas to have my AC evaluated. Everyone was AMAZING! Courtney has the patience of a saint and answered all of my questions when i called to schedule. Every person was very friendly, professional, compassionate and HONEST! My car specialist actually had me look under my car at what the wiring problems were before he fixed them. He also gave me options with respect to my finances. I am a convert Midas! Thank you!

I had an excellent experience here today after my car battery died and it took several tries to jump it I was told I would likely need a new battery so I brought it here. The mechanic checked it out first and diagnosed the problem as simply a weak connection and told me I didn't need a new battery. They fixed the problem free of charge! Overall a great experience.

I was in South Burlington for one night to pick my son up for Thanksgiving break. I woke up to a flat tire. I called several places and was told it was “tire season” and they couldn’t help me. Midas said to come right over (I had AAA put the donut on for me). They took the tire right in, fixed it immediately and put it back on the car. They were fantastic! I came here to get a flat tire replaced, and I happened to come in at a busy time. The shop was about to close, but a technician stayed late to change my tire. It took about twenty minutes total, and the staff was so kind. They helped walk me through what was happening, and were very pleasant the entire time. The waiting area was clean and had good seating and a variety of hot drinks available. As a bonus, my AAA membership made my visit completely free. Connected with Midas for an oil change, recommended by a former student, who is also a satisfied customer. They took me in quickly and based on the fact that I had to wait there- being from out of the area. The staff was professional, friendly , helpful without being patronizing, which was and is appreciated. Did a diagnostic, and found a few minor issues, which I also appreciated. I will be going back to address those. Covid19 makes things a bit more difficult, but the staff was very accommodating- so, felt safe, but not overwhelmed. Everything was neat and clean. This Midas is AWESOME!!! I walked in late in the afternoon after being told by a pedestrian that our back brake light was out. Because we aren't near our home, I wanted to fix it before my long drive. Not only did Adam come out to see what was wrong right away, he gave a fair price and he performed the light switch out quickly and effectively with a friendly and kind demeanor. Susan had great customer service and Ed (the owner) actually dropped the price considerably. I went in on a Friday morning with a really low back tire. I didn't have an appointment and the lobby was full of people waiting for their cars being serviced and there was a person at the counter. I thought I was going to be turned away but when I explained why I was there they told me they would take a look at it. I took my seat and waited, bracing myself to buy a new tire or at the worst buy whole new set. A while later the gentleman at the counter motioned me up, and told me they had found a screwing my tire that I must have driven over sometime the day before. He explained how they took the tire off the rim to seal it properly and replace it on the rim before balancing it. It was all fixed. I waited for the bill and when none came I asked for it. The gentleman told me there was no bill; that is a service they provide for free. I had taken my car to Burlington Subaru on Shelburne for an oil change last month and would have had to pay $30 extra for a safety check. To be told my tire was fixed for free and my car was safe to drive was completely shocking. And, no attempt was made to hustle me into scheduling any other service. I recommend Midas Auto Service without reservation!

Friendly, great service! When our alternator broke down as we drove through Burlington, Kyle, Chris, and Susan were really helpful in diagnosing the problem and fixing it so that we could get out that same day. Having dropped off my VW wagon the prior afternoon, I could not have been happier with the way the staff fielded my request for repair of tires on my car and subsequently had it completed in a timely manner the next morning after calling to advise of the issues. HOWEVER!!!!...I have since become incensed that I was called on a phone number other than the one I expressly provided for contact. Everything worked out in a timely manner the day of 9/15, but I could've done without the stress involved in chasing down a pickup to get my car that day!...Word to the wise MIDAS (and any other business): if there are multiple phone numbers attached to an account, YOU TRY THEM ALL, no matter how busy it is!?!?!? 11/12/21 Update on a separate issue: I had exhaust work was done by this Midas in late June, at which time I was I was advised it would be good for at least a year. However, when I took my car (elsewhere) to be inspected in October, I was advised the pipe work that had been done had already started to leak exhaust and make noise. That service provider fixed the issue--which he described as somewhat amateurish and showed me so at the time--so I asked Midas to reimburse me for the $80 charge. I was offered credit on my account, this after being asked if I had taken pictures of the damage and stating Midas offers a ninety-day warranty on its work (which had passed at the time of inspection. The individual with whom I spoke finally did accede to my request for a check (after I asked twice), insisting on mailing it instead of allowing me to drop by and pick it up. He then went on to declare this transaction would 'conclude our business.' I agreed to that premise based on my checkered past with this Midas: I am no longer willing to put a positive spin on their incompetence for the sake of the location's conveniest proximity to my home.

Despite not having an appointment at Midas, a friendly scheduling staff rearranged several items and fit us in to determine why our minivan was clunking and shuddering horribly. We, 1400 miles from our home in Minnesota, are deeply grateful that the Midas staff in Burlington, Vermont, were able to repair our vehicle in a timely, professional, and affordable way.

They are courteous and always take the time to explain what my cars need. I usually wait and I'm always surprised by how short the waiting time is by comparison to other places I've been. Had to get an alignment done on my truck. Set my appointment for 10am. The staff was friendly, and they got my truck in right away. I asked how long it would take, not to be rude but wanted to get a haircut in between time. They said an hour. 11am I return with a fresh haircut and my truck was rolling right out of the shop. That was fast and precisely on time. I was in and out in under an hour and the staff was great. Go here for service!

I'm here to give an award to Mark from Midas for reaching out to me via text to let me know he had open slots for service in the next couple days that I could put myself in if I had the need. Easy enough to say no, but I do have the need, and it usually would take weeks to get an appointment somewhere. Way to go, using tech to match your schedule with clients who need a spot, not just the other way around!

Dropped my car off first thing in the morning for an oil change. I've been to many Midas with the same car and this one in Burlington is by far the best. I asked if they could also just do a quick once over so I could get a better understanding of any work that would need to be done. They came back with detailed pictures of the under carriage to show me what they found and explained what work should be done in the future. I appreciated seeing actual pictures of the problems instead of being told what is wrong (since every mechanic says something different). The staff was also very friendly.

I recently moved here and was super stressed about finding a new mechanic. I came here on a recommendation from a friend who had nothing but good things to say and they did not disappoint! First, once they do the diagnostic of you car they send you a text with details of what is all good, what could use some work, and what definitely needs to get done. Pictures are attached of the parts that need to be fixed immediately. Then a mechanic comes out to speak with you and go through that info with you. Kyle was honest, answered all of my questions and made me feel confident that my car was in good hands. Second, I initially went in for an oil change, but the car needed other work done that was going to take 3 hours. Not only did Mark drive me home, but also picked me up when the car was ready. Really outstanding people and service. I cannot say enough good things about them. Ed, Eric, Kyle, Chris, Susan and a number of others I know I am forgetting or simply have not met, are all fantastic. I've owned the same model vehicle for almost 10 years and they get the work done as well and as quickly as I've ever had anyone accomplish. They put me at ease by exercising great patience, flexibility and really listening, to me and all sorts of other customers every time I'm in there. This review is long overdue because I've had a ton of work done there over the last few years and they've been consistently this good throughout. I was very impressed with the excellent service I received at this Midas shop last week for my 1997 Toyota 4Runner. I had previously taken the 4Runner to a brake/muffler shop and a mechanic and my experience with this Midas shop was exponentially better. Their staff is clearly above the competition in terms of diagnostic skills, repair skills, and customer service. I spoke with several employees on the phone and at the counter and their attitudes were all very friendly, positive, and helpful. They were extremely patient working through the unexpected problems that always arise when you start work on a 16-year-old vehicle. They were outstanding at communication about the work, changes, and costs as the job progressed. I like to support local business and I often shy away from large national companies, but this franchise is a business I will definitely support and recommend.

I have been meaning to write this review for a while, but I am happy beyond words with the service I received at this Midas. I have brought my car there for tires and a new muffler, and both times Susan at the front desk has been amazing with getting everything my car needs and at a great price. I used to go to a location that was closer to my house, but the extra few minutes it takes to drive to Midas is well worth it. I really love that they take a look all over my car for any other issues or to give me a heads up of parts that may need repair in the near future. Overall, very pleased with everyone at Midas. They are truly wonderful!!

Great people here - they have reasonable rates (unlike Essex Automotive) and will do only the work authorized. Had oil change done and asked them to check the battery as my warning light had come on. Even though the battery was nearly on it's last legs, they didn't pressure me to replace it right then. I ultimately went to them for battery replacement for this reason. You can't go wrong with these folks - some of the best in the area. Definitely will recommend them to others.

I stopped at a local pet food store on my way home from skiing only to discover my front tire was completely flat. Managed to pump with enough air to get to Midas who told me if I was there by 3:45 (Sat) they would take care of it for me. I pulled in around 3:30 and was all set by 4:15. They've been my taking care of me and my 2006 Honda for a few years now and each experience has been a good one!

My daughter's car sprung a separated pipe from the rear muffler. Stopped in w/out an app't & their shuttle took me to work. Vehicle was repaired same day, reasonable cost($400), and conditions to PU after their normal hrs. were all worked out. Very satisfied!

Really impressed with Midas! I ordered tires online and paid to have them delivered to Midas for installation. UPS delivered two tires on-time, and the other two were delayed due to "operating conditions." This was on a Friday, and they got held up at the warehouse/that UPS facility doesn't deliver on Saturdays. With a road trip planned for Sunday, we were a bit stressed. Kyle did a great job calling me to inform me with updates on my car (the first arrival of tires, when my inspection was done). I want to commend Midas in South Burlington on their excellent customer service. I came in very close to closing time as they were wrapping up for the day. When I explained that my oil gage had gone from 5% to -17% very quickly, they were accommodating and fit me right in for a servicing. I had a 4 tire, winter to summer, changeover and a full synthetic oil/filter change here. Excellent service and was in and out in just over an hour. I was warned at another tire shop that I would have to pay for a TPMS reset when I changed my tires. The service manager told me that since the TPMS light was not on then there'll be no charge ($50 if I recall) as the TPMS reset was not needed, very honest of him. I also overheard him telling a customer to call the dealer to fix her brake issue as it should be covered under warranty based on her milage, this was unexpected but a good sign that the service manager is honest with customers. I'd go back here for service based upon my good experience here.

I took my '90 Honda Accord in and it was fixed the SAME DAY. It wouldn't start and when I took it to Midas they thought it was a bad fuel injector. They inspected it further and found that it was just a bad wire in the injector. They fixed it on the spot and, thanks to their further inspection, saved me ~$300. Darrin is a GREAT tech who helped me out BIG TIME. I'd like to thank him for dealing with my dramatic reactions in stride. You, sir, are a titan. There's a bit of a story here so buckle up (haha car puns): I got my car state inspected at midas 7/24/19. I was concerned about the tires, and my state inspection was due in a couple months so I though "hey, i'll just do it all in one go" cause scheduling around work is a bit nightmarish for me. I passed the inspection with flying colors aside from the tires, which I expected of course. No problem. I scheduled an appointment to have new winter tires stuck on 9/7/19. Everything worked out. BUT THEN, About a week later that Thursday, the oil light came on and there was some... substance... leaking from the under part of the car. I freaked out a little since I just had the oil changed 7/3/19 and so I called Midas. They werent open, so I left a message saying I'm just gonna drop it in the parking lot and I'll be there right when they open the next morning to have it looked at. I wanted to limit driving as much as possible. Used my partner's car to get to work. When I got to Midas on friday I told them the issue and they said they would look at it over the weekend. It was labor day weekend so I was totally comfortable picking it up tuesday. I was going camping in NH anyways! I got a call saturday from a tech, I believe it was Mark, who told me that he didn't find anything. He said the oil light was on and asked me if it was on when i dropped it off and I said yes. He said it's probably just a malfunction with the light because the oil level was fine and there were no leaks. I was relieved and they sent me home saying it really was nothing and implied that I overreacted. That's fair. I'm always a little paranoid about my car. It happens. I drove around in it all week, oil light blinking all the way. I figured I'd make a plan to fix that after the tires get replaced. My appointment for tires was finally here this past weekend! And LO AN BEHOLD! They put my car up on the lifter thingy and it WAS leaking after all. AND the oil levels were OVERFILLED. Hoo Boy. I wasn't mad. I just wanted some answers. How did this happen? Overfilled? How did extra oil manifest in my tank after I had it changed 7/3. I took action as soon as I noticed the oil light was on and I was sent home to drive with it like that..... I was also sent NO pictures of any of the inspection work they did that weekend.... Big Yikes, Midas. BUT LUCKILY! There was no damage to the engine. Darrin priced me out for a new oil switch and an oil change. On TOP of the new tires and tire change ($425). $585. I admit I misunderstood the price at first and thought it was $585 + $425 = $1010 and I REALLY had a panic attack. Sorry Darrin. I mean it. Then he explained that it was gonna be $585 TOTAL. Okay I can live with that!!! He even gave me a bit of a discount after the fact for my troubles of being jerked around the past week. With the tire disposal fee, I paid $535 total out the door. tires+tire change+oil change+oil switch and all the work. Pretty good I think!! TLDR: I knocked off a star from the stress of the oil light debacle, but over WONDERFUL service and good work on my car.

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix with a dual exhaust system fell off at the Y pipe. I called a lot of mechanics but only Midas could fit me in on short notice. Kyle DeMar the mechanic explained what needed to be done and showed me the mufflers and rusted pipes that would need to be replaced. I told Kyle that less than a month ago I had taken the car to Monro Muffler in Essex and they had attached 2 brand new mufflers. Kyle then showed me the welds they had done and it was obvious that they there were huge holes in the welds, on 2 pipes the welds did not even go all the way around the pipes!, and they had left a rusted through pipe in place. Kyle said they could re-use the mufflers but would need to re do all of the work that Monro had done and replace the rusted pipes. It was then discovered that one of the mufflers was cracked, Monro sent a replacement over and it was the wrong one, so a Midas employee had to drive over to Monro and get a new one! After all this, the time spent working on my vehicle was longer than expected so would cost a bit more, but Kyle gave me a coupon which brought the cost down to pretty much the original quote. In short Midas went way above and beyond what they needed to do, the customer service was exemplary and I felt like Kyle was being honest and did his best to explain everything to me (I know nothing about cars). If there is something wrong with your muffler I highly recommend going to Midas and definitely not Monro!! I have filed a complaint with Monro and they have been proactive in their response but that cannot excuse the state of the work they did.

Traveling up to Vermont from Connecticut to visit family when my car started acting up and broke down about two hours from South Burlington. Called Midas at a rest stop to explain the situation. They promised to put me on the schedule on Saturday so that I can travel back home on Sunday night. I had called the Nissan dealership first and they said they couldn't help me in that timeframe so I was already very thankful for Midas. Turns out my transmission needed repair due to a clamp on one of my lines that cools the transmission that was left on by another autobody shop in CT from when I had my radiator replaced. Midas was honest and caring about the damage that had been done to my transmission due to the mistake made. Kyle specifically was on top of it and kept me updated. Highly recommend Midas, especially if you know nothing about cars like me and don't want to be taken advantage of. They are friendly and honest and understand that your car is important to you and that they're expensive to fix.

I was always a little weary of going to a chain shop like Midas, but let me tell you, guys at Midas proved me wrong. Service manager Larry Michael is not just a welcoming, polite, attentive, and right out funny guy, he also goes ten extra miles where others go just one extra mile at best. He checks up on mechanics to give updates to those waiting, for example. In my case, we figured out that I forgot my wallet, he offered to open up a store credit card and was sincerely helping me to find a way to pay. When later we learned that my car had to stay over for a night, he courteously offered me a ride on his hip Firebird, and what a fun ride it was. Guys in the trenches are also doing a great job, explaining the possible problems with a car when they see it, but there is no pressure, you don't feel obligated to do those repairs, they just let you know. And a cherry on top, when I came back on my bicycle to grab the car next morning, another service manager - whose name I forgot to ask (sorry) - taught me how to disassemble the bicycle so it would fit into my small Jetta. Thank you guys, you are the BEST!!!!
