Had our car towed there on a Saturday after hours after the alternator went out on our way from Lake Placid. Was able to leave key in a drop box they had and was contacted by them first thing Monday morning. They were able to have the repair done before noon and we were back on our way. Highly recommend.

Had to get a tow this afternoon due to my power steering pump blowing, Dom was there within 20 min and did an awesome job getting my car brought to the garage. We had a great talk the whole ride across town, he went above and beyond to offer as much help as he could. Will definitely be calling in to get a tow again next time I need it.

Patrick the light service technician at Handys is the ONLY EMPLOYEE I TRUST WITH MY CAR!!! He got me a new battery on 11/26/21 around 5:55pm and got me started. I had Howard there on 11/24/21 and 11/25/21 where all he did was jump me and told me to idol it for 30 minutes. (If I could do two reviews Howard would get a 1 Star). Patrick is the best and I have had no issues since. PLEASE FIRE HOWARD AS HE DID NOT DO HIS DILLIGENCE AND WAS LAZY TWO DAYS IN A ROW. HANDYS was dispatched to me through roadside service three times. Every driver has been great, fast and friendly. The drivers all called me with in minutes. They make sure they try their best and make you feel safe about your vehicle when they tow it. I highly suggest using them and I definitely will continue too.

Our towing tech, Dominick, was by far the friendliest, honest, patient and most respectful tech I have ever encountered. I cant honestly say I have ever had an enjoyable break town till Dominick came to provide our Tow this morning, it almost felt like a well respected friend forgetting we were dealing with a stressful day/situation.

Handy's was contracted by my roadside assistance provider to help with a flat tire today. They arrived, removed my flat tire, and replaced it with my spare- all within 30 mins of my original call. I wish I caught the person's name that helped me because they were super kind and speedy! This is the last thing I wanted to deal with after work, but they made it much less stressful by providing such great service.

Marcel is the man. I called for a tow after about a week of not being able to start my car. Replaced the battery, checked the fuses, did as much as I could. He showed up and said he could start it, I doubted it but let him try. After less than a minute outside with him I was able to get it started. Let it run for a while, I took it for a drive, brought it home and it kept starting. Saved me money on a tow! Quick & easy, hope I don’t need to call them again soon but I will if I need to :) especially after another local company with “high reviews” didn’t call me back, and then didn’t come when they said they would

When I first had my car looked at by another mechanic I decided not to take the service. A week later my car broke down and I had to get it towed. I called handys and they were fast and timely. After they looked at my car and called with repairs Charlie was willing to work with me as I had to wait for my paycheck to get repairs done.he was really great and i couldn't have choosen a better place to go. My power steering belt got shredded once when I was driving back home, luckily I made it to a parking lot, and Handy’s was able to tow my car and replace the belt very efficiently. In May I noticed my belt was squeaking whenever I used the AC fan, so I went back to Handy’s and they fixed the belt no charge. Great place. Friendly Staff. Highly recommend for any car repairs.

I brought my car in for inspection two weeks ago. Great service. Very professional and friendly. Got my car back within one hr. I had to stop by again the other day to have the battery in the remote key changed. Ready in no time again and they charged me zero!!!

I was leaving Burlington when my brakes started to smell and then smoke. It was about 11a. I called Handy's. They had me in and fixed the same day by 5p the same day. They performed a total brake and rotor replacement on my rear breaks. I could not ask for faster, more professional service. The price was extremely reasonable as well. I ended up having to have my front brakes done a week later at home and the Ford dealer charged twice as much. I won't drag on about how they actually sent me home initially. Handy's is great.

Got my brake pads replaced. They were very efficient, friendly and the price was very reasonable. They even reset the low tire pressure sensor for me. I would definitely go here again if I needed too.

Very impressed with the service this station gives. They are friendly and welcoming no matter who the customer is. Charlie is honest and straight forward with what's wrong with my vehicle and doesn't say "Well it could be this or it might be that" He looks the car over prior to calling the customer and has a TOTAL price ready for me. Two weeks ago I brought my truck in and I had several things wrong with it as usual but he explained to me why each one need to be repaired and which ones could wait if I needed to due to funds. Once I got into my truck I could feel right away a difference in my wheels and steering - I was amazed. Yesterday I brought my daughters car to see when he could look at it. We told him the maintenance light kept blinking and the brakes sounded like metal on metal. With no hesitation he told me to drop it off today. When I say Handy's on my caller idea I held my breathe because I knew it was going to need brakes and an oil change, Charlie told me that it was all the car needed was the brakes and oil because everything else looked great. When he told me the COST of the repairs I was really impressed. Thank you Charlie you're the BEST!!!

I went to Handy's Service Center to get a last minute oil change on my 2012 Subaru Legacy (synthetic oil). I called all over and since it is the holiday season, no one was available. Once Handy's said they could get me in immediately, I was worried as to why they weren't booked as well. It turns out that they were very busy just properly staffed. I came in and although they were busy, they made sure I felt like a priority. Not only was it inexpensive to do, it was quick service! I didn't need to grab anything on Church Street so I waited there and was surprised by the amount of friendly faces I saw. There were employees that took the time to ask about my car and returning customers that they welcomed by name. I have read reviews that talk about prices being high but what do you expect if they are a local business that cannot receive the deals that a franchise can? Beyond this, I explained that my sunroof was leaking and Jon, a mechanic there, cleaned the drains for me without charge after I had explained the trouble I had received with other places attempting to overcharge while everyone else was extremely friendly. Overall, I left Handy's with a smile on my face and paid less for an oil change than I would have anywhere else because of the great service I received from Charlie Handy and crew!

Patrick came to help start my car after calling Triple A. They said they could get there ( it was 4:30 pm) by 5:45. I was fine with that. Patrick called several minutes later and gave me an up date saying 5pm. He was really nice , professional and so cheerful it made the timing of my car not starting so much better. He Check the battery and electrical system and charged the battery. I was done and ready to get back on the road by 5:15. I am just sorry I didn’t have any cash to give him a tip. He so deserved it! After having to deal with a Progressive agent for over 25 minutesrepeating almost everything more then three times to try to speed up the process, I have to admit that I became irritated. Even more so when I found out they did not out my road side assistance onto my insurance after switching my vehicle. After paying I then found that it would be up to 55minutes before Handy's would arrive. Could the day get any worst? Thank GAWD it didn't. After waiting about 15minutes, I got a notice that one was on route. In less then 10minutes he was there. Being late getting back to work due to my popped flat tire, I was estatic that service was quicker then I thought. Time is money! Once seeing him, he changed my flat tire to my spare quickly. Easy 5-8minutes, while making small talk to pass the time. Thanks AJ. I really appreciated your help yesterday.

I’m from Vermont but have lived out of state for over 35 years and in PA for the past 25 year While visiting family my 5 year old Nissan Pathfinder suddenly struggled to start, the temp gauge started to point toward hot, and the check engine light came on. Not the kind of Sunday I wanted to have. When I started to look into service options there wasn’t much to pick from for a Sunday morning. I called Handy’s simply because it was a name I new from my college days. Charlie Handy answered the phone and said it sounded like the temp sensor might have failed. Said I could come in Monday morning and he’d get me in. His suspicions proved out and Ron the tech did a great job in making a correct diagnosis and repair recommendation. Super nice guys and great turnaround. I saw some reviews indicating long wait times and some sketchy repair recommendations. The wait was 3 hrs but unless I’m getting a basic oil change my experience with waiting for a more serious job is this was typical. In fact I normally see waits at least as long when I do have appointments. Final word - great work and great people. I’ll go back if I have need

My car battery was dead and I had tried twice to jump start it with no luck. I went through my insurance who had Handy's sent out to help me and possible tow my vehicle. Scott showed up within about 30 minutes of me making the appointment and was able to get my car started and give me a few suggestions. Scott was professional, friendly, and empathetic to my situation. I was stressed enough with having a car that wasn't working but he really made my day less stressful with his help. I was helped today during a big snow storm and had been renting a uhaul and was unaware of the impending storm. Unfortunately the uhual was stuck on a hill the day it was due and I could not get it to budge and needed a tow. I believe a man by the name of John helped me, he came and I was expecting him to need to tow me up the hill but was able to get the uhual unstuck without having to tow it! He gave me some tips and was overall super helpful and kind and helped decrease my expense! He was absolutely amazing and I greatly appreciate his help today in such awful weather!

Flat tire. No spare in car. ) : Called my auto insurer's roadside assistance service. They arranged for Handy's to send a tow truck, to haul my car to a nearby tire shop. Upon arrival, the driver, Jimmers, very quickly found the screw that had punctured the tire and patched / repaired the tire on site. He was very courteous and professional. Great job!

If you're out of your comfort zone of familiarity then Handy's will make you feel right at home. Sincerely... Scott and Mr. Charlie went above and beyond to make an intimidating experience less overwhelming. And I was. Moved into a new region and had an alarming vehicle incident. Called around for repair costs. Everyone was pretty busy but, Mr. Charlie made time. Scott the tow man came and recommended Handy's Service Center. Car mechanics with integrity is a hard find. I feel extremely fortunate to have found this place. Charlie is a man of his word. Down to Earth, no haggle and knows what he's talking about. 2 things I was a little upset by the timing in which my vehicle was supposed to be finished but I understand it takes time especially if it's engine related. Secondly I got home and realized my glove box was rummaged through nothing was taken but still. But I can say they did a great job and Charlie is a good man I appreciate the work done by the mechanic he was respectful when I asked how it went with replacing my water pump. My car would not start so I got it towed and to Handys because it was close to my apartment and am thankful I did!!! Everyone who helped me out during the process from the diagnoses of the problem, the tow and then the people in the shop were so friendly and helpful. I was also appreciative all of the updates that they sent through call/text to let me know the status. The man who helped me in the shop realized I was due for an oil change and offered to do it for me while My car was getting serviced!!! They also moved super quick and I had my car Back within a day. Got stuck in the grocery store parking lot and was foolish enough to leave home without my cell. Called Triple A from the store phone and provided details. Despite Triple A giving Handy's the wrong address/location info, Marcel (hope I spelled your name right) took ~15 minutes on his last job of the day to visit the BHS parking lot, Leddy Park, and then finally Hannaford plaza to FIND ME. Not only did he bail me out but was incredibly helpful, cheerful, and took extra time to explain exactly what he thought may be wrong with the car. Unfortunately it ended up having to be towed back to my place, but I couldn't have asked for a better experience in light of the situation. Marcel has got the people's touch and and is the gold standard tow truck operator!

I have been using Handy's Service Center for a number of years and it has always been a positive experience. Always honest, they work with my budget and everytime I call they manage to fit me in. My kids also love that it's located downtown so while our car is being worked on we can look around church street and grab a bite to eat. I've also used their towing service and it was very fast and affordable both times.

I was raised in California, so coming to Vermont meant a lot of different ways to take care of my car. Handy's is quick, they put on some winter tires within the same day for my car, and subsequently my partner's car. The owner is very kind. Even the waiting room has a good vibe to it, and the workers seem pretty happy. I trust them to take care of my car and I don't feel the need to haggle or negotiate a lower price.

I have been taking my car to Handy's for over 3 years and have never been disappointed. Among other things, they have fixed brakes, cvc joints, muffler,& valve cover gasket and the quality of the work has been excellent. No call backs, no problems. Downtown location is convenient, too. Drop the car off in the morning, walk to work, and pick it up at end of day. If you are looking for good work at reasonable prices with Vermont friendly service, I'd recommend giving Handy's a try.

Traveling in v t where I live but was out of my local area my car just quit located Handys service ctr in Burlington because I was given the name didn’t know how u was going to get car back to my home area. They said they send a truck to tow me in it was about 8 pm and dark with 40 minutes a yellow truck number 10 came so glad to see someone at that pt very nice man told he could tow me to garage and someone would look at morning. I was also concerned how was I going get home the tow driver saved the day!and next morning they looked at my car fixed very reasonable thank you number 10.

I gave Charlie my car at 2 pm with no appointment on a busy Friday and it was finish by 4 pm. Every single staff member I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. Reasonable pricing especially considering their very convenient location. I see a lot of negative reviews, no one likes being towed but these folks work very hard and put up with a lot. I personally have no trepidation of using their services in the future.

Today I got my car in at handys and they were able to service me extremely quickly and very efficiently! I needed my front brakes done and rotors done and I was expecting some ridiculous price, but the fix was within my price range and the staff there were great and very informative and worked with me the entire way! After running over a curb and damaging a tire in a downtown parking garage, I was worried about finding reliable service on a Saturday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised that Handy's was open and immediately responsive to my problem. I called and spoke with Charlie, who said that I could bring the car over right away. Once I arrived, he quickly identified a similar tire and said the whole process would take a little over an hour. I pulled out of Handy's with two new front tires about an hour and a half after the initial impact with the curb, and Charlie called me later in the day to make sure that everything was working smoothly. The whole process could not have been more efficient or less stressful.

I was a block from my hotel and hit a curb in a construction zone, tearing a hole in my tire. AAA sent out Handy's to put on my spare. The young man took my tire to the garage so I could proceed to the hotel and check in. Handy's called me to bring my car there to get the tire mounted. They gave me a ride back to my hotel, and later when I realized I forgot something in my car, they broke it to me. When my car was ready the next morning they offered to pick me up as well. The staff were amazing, personable and caring! Highly recommend this repair shop. Being from out of town, and not knowing the area, they put my mind to rest and handled everything so I could focus on my work trip!!

This is my second visit to Handy's and both times the service was excellent. After going over a steep gap 3 or 4 times in a week I began to feel a drag on the right rear side of my car. Since we live on a dirt road and often get stones in the wheel well, I took it to my tire guy. He took one look at it and said my rear brakes were metal on metal - yikes! I called Handy's and they squeezed me in. They were even able t get me out in time for an appt later in the day. Was it an expensive repair - yes, and I didn't have time to comparison shop before. In researching the cost after, it was within the range but definitely on the higher end. That being said, I was able to get my brakes done that day.

Great, friendly professional...on our small weekend camping trip to Decemberists concert our car started vibrating upon acceleration. It Sat 1pm, I thought we will have to leave it tow the car back home to MA. Just arrived to Burlington found Handy's around the corner from we we're, stopped by, they in few minutes diagnosed, and showed, bent axle and rim. Offered solution to replace the axle which they did in less than an hour for very reasonable price. Our vacation was saved. Thank you.

Due to a broken part on my car door, I neglected to turn off my headlights. My battery died, I called AAA and Handy's came within the hour. He tested my battery and said it was fine after he jumped it. The AAA guy mentioned Handy's could easily fix that door issue, with less hassle than the dealer. I brought it over to the garage and I got an estimate - $100 total. They ordered the part, I came back on Saturday, they said it would be about an hour. An hour later it was ready and it cost a total of $82. They mentioned my engine light was on and asked it I wanted them to look at it. I didn't, since I know what's causing it and have a plan for it. So I said no, I'm all set and off I went. They are busy at the station and are very rushed in their attitude. I wasn't in a pressured situation myself, needing a last minute inspection or middle of the night emergency, so wasn't vulnerable that day. All parties were friendly to me and worked as promised.

Had a flat tire in Burlington coming from Portland, ME and called to get it towed to a nearby tire shop who “may or may not be able to get me in.” Handy’s offered to put on the set of tires I had previously purchased which made it quick and easy. All the people there were professional, communicative, and friendly. If I’m ever stuck in Burlington again, that’s where I’m bringing my car!

Had my control arm break on my car this morning on my way home and got ahold of aj over at handys. My car is lowered so I thought there would be a issue getting it on the flatbed but he took his time and made sure it got on there with out any issues. Honestly one of the few tow truck drivers I've had that takis his time and actually cares about his job. If you ever need a tow and you call for handys ask for aj you won't regret his attention to service.

I accidentally parked in a handicapped spot (my fault) and the business I was at had my car towed. By the time I got to my car it was late and the tower, Marcel, was quite busy. He did his job incredibly: he apologized he had to be the bad guy in the situation when he called me back, and swiftly returned my vehicle back to me with all the proper paperwork done. I've never seen a garage have such a competent, well-meaning, and customer serviced savvy employee. I was quite impressed.

Another reputable shop. I have never had an issue with Charlie or his staff. Cars are money pit's and Handy's has worked to help with our budget. If you need moderate work for, they can handle it. Usually walk-in's are fine unless you hit a busy season.

I am a ASE Master Tech in Pennsylvania. My sister lives in Burlington. She contacts me on a Saturday night saying her clutch pedal stopped working. I assumed it was a Hydraulic problem based on her description. And was obviously worried about who would be diagnosing the problem. Charlie here saw the car and he knew it was a failure of the throwout bearing. He told her he could get it done by the end of that Monday! Along with a bunch of other work. He sent me pictures of the failed parts and we discussed repair options. He was so honest about everything I would recommend his work to anyone. And all done in a day. The guy is a machine!

Sunday morning and I've got a bad rear tire. Who's going to be open to help. I read a bunch of the mixed reviews and didn't know what to expect especially not being from the area but I had to get my tire fixed in order to get home so I gave them a shot. I don't write reviews very often but I've got to say these guys were great. 8:00 am on a Sunday morning and they couldn't have been nicer or more professional. Got me fixed up and on my way in no time. Very reasonable on the cost as well. Moral of the story I guess is there is usually two sides to a review so don't always believe just one side of a negative one.

For 10 years I have my work on my cars done at Handy Service Center. First of all, their location is wonderful for where I work which is Downtown Burlington. I had my brakes, rotor and other work done on my cars at Handy's.I bought my tire there for my Jaquar and always get my oil an inspection done there for my Jag and Cadillac. Everytime I go there with car situations, they explain to me what my car need and how long something else should be replace. They always call me to let me know about the work before they start working on it. All of their service guys are polite and know the work they peform . I trust Handys with my cars. The work they do on my Jag save me a trip to the Jag dealer in Lathen NY. I dont know how any person who have got work done at Handys complain about anything. Just the other day I brought my car in because my headlight bulbs were out. It was weird for me that both bulbs were out but not only did they changed the bulbs but they also test the electrical wiring and fuses. They only charge me for the bulbs....I am happy and glad that they go far beyond the duty to let us know what the condition of our entire car is in from engine to underneath.. Brought my car in because I damaged the front fender and as a result the driver's door that was also ajar. I asked Handy's to do what they could but I didn't want to replace the front fender and possibly the door. Handy's took on the job with a 1-day turn-around and amazing results at a very reasonable low cost. I knew if I brought my car to a traditional body shop they would have wanted to replace both the front fender and door and the resulting bill would probably be in the $1,000 - $2,00 range. Instead Handy's did a remarkable job at a fraction of the cost and I couldn't have been happier with their service and with Jim who did the job making that fender look almost like it did before I banged it up and putting my door back on track. I would recommend Handy's for quality service at a reasonable cost.

From my Ford SHO, through my wife's GMC pickup, my daughter's Mazda and my in-laws F-350 Super-Duty, they have always provided a level of care and expedience in any work we've had done. I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon visit to Burlington for just the day, and at 3 o'clock they took my truck in to look at the brakes that were squeaking. At 5 o'clock my brakes were fixed and it was all done for a very reasonable $350. You can't get better service than that... so nice, too.
