They were courteous and responsive from the very first email and phone call. Matt and Nate were awesome, professional and honest. I took my truck in to have them look at the scratch to determine what it would take to repair it. See the before and after photos below. They pulled it right into the shop and took care of me. I am going to use them for some detailing and upholstery work in the future. I feel like I can trust these guys to do a good job at a fair and reasonable price.

A fender bender in the parking lot brought me back to McDowell's, this time in my 2021 Ram Rebel pickup. Since the paint was not damaged (thanks to the fender flare molding) I had the two small dents removed with their paintless dent repair tools. The truck is fully restored now and it looks like nothing ever happened. Their prices are reasonable and saved me about 25-40% over a traditional body shop repair, which required breaking the factory paint and recoating. This is undesirable in a vehicle which I intend to keep for many years. This shop does high quality work and their prices are reasonable. I highly recommend them.

These guys are incredible. I came in one morning after a holiday weekend without an appointment. Part of the lining of my wife's Toyota was sagging. I have a 1973 American Motors Gremlin with Levi's interior. I wanted seat covers to protect the front seats but there is nothing I could find off the shelf that would fit the old bucket seat design. McDowells were able to make custom seat covers for me that are perfect. Even the color is a very close match to the interior of the car.

I brought our 2021 Nissan Rogue into McDowells Specialty Repairs to have our center console’s leather fixed which had deep gouges and scratches in the leather. On the side of the driver and passenger seats they also had scuff marks as well. I was met by John the service advisor who greeted me with a warm smile and walked out to inspect the damage. John called over Chrissy who is the tech who would be handling the repair. Both of them quickly recognized the issue and knew the best course of action to take. 2 days later John called me when the car was finished being repaired right on schedule. I was so impressed with Chrissy’s repair work I had to personally shake her hand. You can tell they both take pride in their work! I am going McDowells 5 stars hand down for attention to detail, follow through, and fair pricing, and great customer service!

Based upon a recommendation from a buddy, I stopped in to get a price on a tricky dent removal on my Ford Raptor. I have had others try to remove door dents and in some cases the experience has been less than what I expected. I’m definitely a type A type and appreciate true craftsmen that take pride in their work. I took my car in to get a seat repair at McDowells, and the outcome was unbelievable! I was pretty skeptical getting my seat repaired due to the fact that it was leather and it had a cream pigment that seemed very difficult to color match. However, they replaced the panel that was damaged and the result was beyond my expectations! The seat looked brand new! I was so happy with how it turned out and would highly recommend using this company. The customer service was excellent. It only took a day for my seat to be repaired and for fairly inexpensive too! Again I would highly recommend using McDowells services it was an incredible experience!

Estimator Torson Kramer and Technician Tayler Sawyers did a outstanding job of recovering our bar stools and replacing the extremely hard foam cushion on our accent chair. Torson was very helpful in assisting us in fabric and foam choices and keeping us updated on the order and installation time frame. Tayler did a fantastic installation job as the attached pictures show. We are very happy with the finished product and highly recommend the McDowells team.

My pristine 1978 Leyland Austin MiniCooper got a dent on rear side panel when something fell on it. I was heart broken. I took it to Nate at McDowells and was nervous as the paint could not be matched if it had to be painted. Nate is a magician! He did the work himself and treated it like his very own possession. WOW!!! McDowells Specialty Repairs provided first class professional services at a very reasonable price. A Paintless dent repair, and Upholstery shop that does wood working and cabinetry work? (among a plethora of other professional skill sets) "YES, we do that", seems to be their mantra, and rightfully so. Our first, exposure / experience with McDowells Specialty Repairs services, occurred following a service call that was scheduled for repair of a damaged hollow-core door, (of unknown origin), by another service provider that we had contracted with. (approximately 1 inch wide by 4 inch tall piece of the door skin had been peeled off, as though a piece of furniture had hit the edge of the door while being carried thru the opening, and ripped the skin off of the door.) Sorry, I didn't take photo's of the damage, the Adjuster did. I have no idea how McDowells technician made the repair, but he did a flawless repair, that left no evidence that the damage had ever occurred. WOW! So before the technician departed, I showed him a project that I needed taken care of, and had been unable to locate a professional craftsman to retain. I needed to have a section of kitchen counter, overhead cabinets, and drawers removed, to facilitate the placement of a larger refrigerator in the smaller area. (photo's attached below) The technician said, "yes, we can do that." A couple of days ago, the project was completed. Other than the paint work that we will take care of, and installation of the missing tile under the fridge space, the results are, as if the counter always ended there. Thanks McDowells Specialty Repairs! File this Review away for the future projects that you may be in need of professional services. Give them a call, you'll be glad you did.

This is an updated review. Last week McDowell's did a interior and exterior detail on my 16 year old car. They also installed window tint. I could not be any happier than I am with the job. My interior even had a new car smell! These folks are the best in town, their prices are reasonable, and the staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and polite. This is my second time with them. My door was crushed! Including a 4 inch gash on a natural body line that didn't look repairable without having major body work and paint restoration done to the vehicle. The actual fitment of the door itself had been knocked out the damage was so severe. Estimates ran into the thousands for the work to be done, and those were low estimates! I took my vehicle to McDowell's. The staff were amazing. They gave me a free estimate and the cost was more than reasonable! I will be honest, I didn't expect that my door would be perfect, I just wanted the bulk of the damage removed. From the start Matt was confident that they could get my door back to perfection. There was even paint damage that I assumed would still be visible. Believe me when I tell you, this door was destroyed! Take a look at it now!!! I am impressed beyond my wildest imagination. Excellent service, miracle workers, superior customer service, and a staff that makes you feel right at home. They even finished the work early. If you have an issue with your car, requiring any kind of body work, before you drain your bank account, I urge you to call McDowell's. I did, and I couldn't be happier!

Nate did dent repair on our truck from husband backing into mail box and two side door dings. No evidence that they were ever there. Plus he did huge dent repair on my explorer. I was trying to shut back hatch and it wouldn't go down and when i used force it popped the metal in and wrinkled it. Nate got it out with no evidence. I stopped by to show them and get an estimate for a door ding in my BMW last Friday. They quoted me a fair price for the work and I asked about schedule. They had an opening the very next Monday morning! Logan showed up right on time and got to work. It took him about 20 minutes to carefully work out the dent. He did an awesome job, it was perfect. I went to McDowells because I had used them for an upholstery repair on a leather chair. They had done such a good job on it that I was happy to find they do dent repair as well. I have another dent repair project for them on my Ford. If they can pull it off half as good as this project it will be a miracle.

I had a tear in the right side of my driver's seat of my Acura TL right where your elbow might brush every time you drive, making it worse and worse every time, making you nearly tear up at the sight of bare vinyl backing each time you step inside. It was a bad situation and I was devastated by the thought that this repair would be impossible by anyone except the manufacturer. I called Pearson Acura and they told me they no longer have an in-house leather repair person but recommended McDowell’s. “It’s amazing how well they can repair things.” Hopes were high. I submitted a quote to McDowell’s along with pictures. Someone got back to me within an hour (sorry for forgetting names, everyone there was killer tho🤘) and said because the rip was along a seam between leather and vinyl, it might might get tricky. Hopes sank, however with the price being less than $300 I was content. I took it in that week with the hopes that maybe it would turn out “okay” and that maybe it won’t be noticeable. Anyway, 4 hours after I leave the shop, I get a call. They’ve spent the last 4 hours trying to color match the leather. It’s the hardest color they’ve ever seen. Like really hard, he says with a chuckle. They might have to keep it over night. I say get er’ done. They offer me a van to take as a loaner. Are you kidding? Yes, I will take your van and mob all over Boise in this baddie. So I go about my day and say I can pick up the van before they close. I get a call on my way there that she’s ready! But I don’t get the van, real bummer. But sure I’ll take my car back. They take me inside and tell me they had to get the boss man in there to try and get the color right. Okay cool now I’m scared. They also tell me they replaced both affected panels with real leather at no extra cost???? I check out the goods and I’ll be damned, it’s like it never even happened. In fact it looks brand new. Literally insane how good. The pics tell the truth people. McDowells is the S*!T. Also super nice to talk to (about cars also) and even sent me home with candy + a post card a couple weeks later. Homies.

These people are great! I had an upholstery problem and an auto body shop quoted nearly $400 to replace and repair it. I wen to McDowells and they determined that the clips holding this together were incorrect and sent me to my Dealership where I bought the correct clips for $3.50 each. I returned to McDowells and they installed them at no charge! I really appreciate their willingness to jump in and solve this problem quickly and competently!!

Dropped off my Mercedes in the morning for a seat rip repair. They had the repair completed the same day. The repair looked like a brand new seat. When they took out the seat the air bag error light came on. Because Mercedes requires a password to reset the airbag message they couldn’t reset the message. They called the dealership after 5:30 PM and made an appointment for me to have the error message reset. For my inconvenience going to the dealership they gave me a discount. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. They even gave me a suggestion where to get a good breakfast. This is customer service done right. This is how a business should be run. I can see that they are successful and it’s no surprise why after what service I received.

PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL My 5th wheel trailer "kissed" the corner of my truck cab right next to the rear window. I took it to 3 other paintless dent repair guys and all the said they couldn't repair the dent. I gave up and left the dent for about 3 years. I was recently introduced to Nate from McDowells. Stopped by on 02/11/21 to get an estimate on a small dent removal on my pick up bed since I'd been hearing the radio commercials for McDowells. Torson greeted me right away when I walked in and came out to take a look. He felt it wouldn't be an issue but wanted an opinion from Nate, the main dent removal technician. Nate took a look, asked me to back up to the bay and had the dent repaired in about 5 minutes. Not only did they do it right then and there without sending me away only to make an appointment, but Nate did such an awesome job you can't see any evidence of where the damage was. This made my day and they certainly made a customer out of me. I can't recommend McDowells enough! Great work, fast and friendly.

Matt was absolutely, hands down THE BEST!!!!! The warranty company I was working with to get my passenger seat replaced in my Lexus was doing everything possible to avoid having to honor the very expensive warranty I had purchased to cover my Lexus interior. I was given the “run around” for over 3 months with several different vendors/companies. Once I was put in contact with Matt, he contacted the warranty company and the next day my claim was approved. Matt scheduled me to bring my vehicle in and not even a week later my seat has been replaced. McDowells repaired a driver’s leather seat on my 2006 Chevy Silverado. The foam had broken down over the years, which caused some cracking on side vinyl piece near the power seat control panel. I had originally planned to bring in my 2018 Expedition with a similar issue, but I thought I’d give them a go at the older truck first. It was a bit more involved than expected, but they were still able to finish the job by 2:00 that same day. I could not believe how well it turned out… very difficult to tell that it had a whole new piece of foam, leather & vinyl stitched to the old seat. It’s perfect! They repaired my Expedition the next week, which only needed new foam on that same driver’s side seat panel. It was finished by 11:00 the same morning. Again, it looked original to the 2018 OEM seat. Working with Matt Martin & all of the staff at McDowells was great! I will send my buddy over there to fix his seats & head liner soon. Great job!

Matt and his team are amazing! Unfortunately had a bad experience at a different shop where my brand new truck was dented and tint shades I did not ask for were installed. Went to Matt immediately after for the dent repair and tint to be fixed. He was able to get me in very quickly and they did a top notch job! The tint came out amazing and there is absolutely no evidence of the dent ever being in the door!! Nate repaired two minor dents that were found on my new truck immediately after I took delivery from a dealership in Weiser. The dealership had advised they would need to remove the door to fix one of the dents and they'd need my new truck for at least two days. I am in Boise and the travel time to Weiser, along with gas and mileage on a new vehicle, was unacceptable. I asked for a second opinion and they referred me to McDowells. After an initial examination of the dents at their Boise shop, an appointment was scheduled for approximately 10 days later to make the repairs at my home. So convenient! Nate performed the work and he was outstanding! Polite, professional, and FAST. The dent took five minutes to fix and was done with the door on the truck! I am very happy with McDowells, and in particular, with the work done by Nate. I highly recommend this business.

I have taken 3 different vehicles to McDowells over the past 15 years for small dent repair. The service I have received has been outstanding. Several small dents, worked out perfectly. The folks at McDowells are great. I had to have a seat back cover replaced that got stained from either hand lotion or sun tan lotion - the leather got a yellow stain that was "baked" into the leather from being hot in the summer. They worked with our insurance company to do the replacement and then did a perfect job in fitting the new seat back cover. I have gotten my windows tinted, paintless dent removal, headliners restored, upholstery repaired, upholstery dyed and I am sure multiple other things done that I have forgotten about. Took my wife's car in to have it looked at today. While replacing the window motor on the passenger side window the old tint ripped. I didn't have an appointment and I normally work Monday-Friday 8-5. I told Torson that and he worked some magic and got me taken care of! The window was redone with new tint and looks amazing! We have had excellent service from McDowells. About four years ago, they reupholstered the leather middle arm rest in my 2010 Honda Pilot. It still holds up. When the side arm rests started to bubble, we took it in. They advised we would save money if we ordered the parts on EBay and then they would install. Really appreciated them looking out for us on cost. After that we had them restuff and reupholster the leather seats on the Pilot and my husband’s G6. They also removed the fogging on our headlights. It’s like we have two brand new vehicles!

Update: I needed some repair work done on a door panel. I ended up purchasing a panel off of ebay and McDowells replaced it for me for a very reasonable charge. It was an alternative they suggested to me since the damage was very severe. I was aware that they couldn't guarantee the panel (as I bought it) but it completely made the damaged door disappear and saved me a few bucks! I'll be back with yet another car as soon as I locate a good panel replacement. I am very happy with the result and it took no time at all! Original post: I only went in for a bid and I was treated so well. They gave me a thorough bid with explanations and even helped me look for alternatives in replacement of parts that could save me money. They will definitely get my business and my referrals.

I contacted McDowell’s several months ago to re-upholster and repair my vintage dining chairs. These chairs have a rich heritage and I wouldn’t trust just anyone to work on them. Torson was who I had the privilege of working with from the very start of this project! He was beyond patient, incredibly informative through the entire process and had great ideas. He was a great project manager! I absolutely loved working with the entire crew at McDowell’s. Torson kept me in the loop sending pictures showing the progress of each chair. She explained to me that the dent I had on my door was in a very bad place and most likely they could get the dent out 85-90%. We had a deep dent in the middle of our driver's door. Kelly at McDowell's was very knowledgeable and walked me through the process. Because the dent "stretched" the metal, she wasn't sure that they could remove all of it, but assured me that they would do their best. I was having issues with an Ashley leather couch. When I contacted the retailer I learned my six year old couch was out of warranty. But they said without hesitation that McDowells was the only one in town they would recommend. I had used McDowels 20 years ago to spruce up a leather couch as the dye was thinning. They did an amazing job then. So I gave them a call. All of the staff are professional, friendly, efficient and genuinely wanting to help. They arrived on time, removed their shoes or wore booties. They were able to fix the back of the couch but the seat cushions needed recovering. I dropped off the cushions on a Monday. They delivered the recovered cushions Thursday. What an amazing job! The leather is an exact match but you can feel the higher quality leather on the new seat cushions. They have a glove-like feel. And the stitching matches that on the rest of the couch. On every contact with them I was greeted by friendly employees, happy to be doing their job. If you have any specialty repair needs, I highly recommend using them. Matt checked it out and told me they would only be able to get it to 90% of new which was OK with me and the estimate was reasonable based on my shopping around. July 26, 2019 Can’t say enough good things about this company! We had an Acura MDX with a 2” crease in the front door panel. I called the Acura dealership for a referral. The dealership referred me to three different companies, McDowells being one of them. I decided to go to their place of business to check it out and get an idea of the cost. I found them to be very nice and professional. I later scheduled an appointment to have the dent removed at my home. On the scheduled date I received a text message from the service person notifying me of his arrival. He showed up exactly on time. His name was Alberto. Super nice and professional! He worked on my car for a little over an hour.... meticulously removing the crease. When he was done... I would challenge anyone to show me where that crease was. The cost was reasonable and fair. I was charged for the actual work done which was a little less than the estimate. I was so pleased with his work that I made a trip back to their shop just to tell them what a great job Alberto did on my Acura. So to sum it all up... I would not hesitate to use them again or refer them to my friends and family. 5 stars!

I’m amazed by the repair I got on my wife’s motorcycle seat . She had a grommet on her chaps scrap the side of her seat so bad by the time we discovered the jagged grommet we where sure that we we looking at a full replacement of the custom leather . To a delight the fine people at McDowell repair it to new condition. Highly recommend this company.

Nate the dent repair guy is a wizard. I had a very bad dent on my new 2020 Chevy and he made it disappear. The dent was a 3 inch long crease over a body line which is about as hard as they come. Had a couple windows tinted at the same time and they did an excellent job on those as well.

Matt was so helpful today! I ordered a chair online and the manufacturer sent me a replacement part. They had told me it would be super easy to replace.... Long story short and a lot of work I can promise you it was not easy to replace. I took the chair in and Matt hammered away to get the part loose so I could replace it. I have an older Porsche Cayenne that had a tear in the leather seat in the rear. Everytime I looked the rear view mirror I was reminded of how the broken seat belt latch tore the leather. After getting a quote I was not sure how it would turn out. To my utter surprise, my seat looked amazing. I asked my daughter if she could see where it had been repaired, because she knew where the tear was located. She could not find it. This is my testimony that McDowell's is the BEST of the BEST. I texted him pictures of the dent, he quoted based on the pictures, came to my car while I was at work and now can't even tell there was a dent. I cannot say enough about the customer service and quality work we received when we took my Escalade to McDowell's! I don't EVER write reviews, but I would probably get on here and write one with how great of a job they did repairing the interior roof on my vehicle. We removed an oversized DVD player and replaced it with a newer (much smaller overall) unit, which left old screw holes and a black ring on the ceiling from where it had been for several years. They patched up the holes and covered the ring so well you can't even tell it was there...for $49! Amazing deal. That is not the reason I'm on here writing this review, however. When my wife and I picked up the car, we had a bit of a misunderstanding when we went to pay for the services we received that day. During the initial call we had inquired about also getting some minor painting work done to cover some rock chips. We ended up calling back and letting them know we didn't want the paint repair, we just wanted to schedule the ceiling repair and they said "great". We dropped off the car, but when we went to pay for it when picking it up they mentioned the paint repair they had done that day as well. After I told them we didn't want that ($140 paint repair) they immediately owned it and said it was most likely their fault and told me they'd talk to their staff about it, but we'd figure something out. Not one word questioning me, or whether or not I actually canceled the paint work. So I just paid for the ceiling repair. 15 minutes later they called me back letting me know they spoke to the staff that we had originally spoken with, and they remembered us cancelling the paint job. The change just simply didn't get put into their software. She apologized all over the place for "putting us through that", and said we didn't owe her anything for the paint work. I was so shocked with their level of customer service and how they bent over backwards to apologize and help us, I was trying to tell them we'd pay for at least half of it because I felt so bad. It's rare this day in age to work with a company that truly values their customers, and McDowell's is without question, one of those companies. I will take every vehicle I ever have to them and I can't say enough about how awesome they were. Oh, and the paint job looks great, too! :)

Dropped car off, driven home and picked up right on schedule. Parking lot scrape and crunch was on a character/body line (difficult repair) and repair is invisible. Outstanding work! I got a severe door ding on the passenger side of my truck when we had high winds here in Boise. This dent was right next to the door handle and had a nice sized crease in it. I recently purchased a used Jeep Wrangler with Bushwacker fender flares which are fastened to the Jeep using metric, stainless steel, button head, torx-drive screws. The flares were missing a few screws and I wanted to get replacements. No hardware store in the area has these specialty screws. Bushwacker would only sell me a complete parts kit with screws and trim for all 4 flares. Too much money for my needs. But McDowells was listed as a local vendor for Bushwacker. I contacted McDowells and spoke to Carol. It took her about a week to get the screws from Bushwacker, but she was able to do so and I got the 3 or 4 I needed for a very reasonable price. Carol was wonderful. Top grade customer service. We’ve used McDowells for leather furniture color restoration and minor dent removal in the past. I highly recommend them for any furniture upholstery repair, automotive upholstery and trim repair, and dent removal. And, of course, anyone who needs Bushwacker parts and service for their vehicle.

Seat looks good reason for 4 stars vs 5 is seat wasn’t 100% put back together and the parts didn’t “match” up. So I have a gap in the back of the seat where the plugs that hold the two parts together on the back of the seat. They do good work and id recommend them.

It’s like the dent was never there! Nate was professional from the start. He called ahead of time on the day of the appointment with his ETA. There was a lack of communication on my part that required them to redo the tint on my front windows. They didn’t even hesitate, to quickly and professionally take care of the issue with no questions asked. I even offered to pay the difference but they refused stating that this was part of their customer service.
