My uncle recommended Garry's when I moved here 6 months ago from Portland and needed a good, honest and reasonably priced mechanic. I went for an oil change a couple days ago and I'm super happy with everything! Great friendly people and more then just your typical oil change. I walked out of there with coupons for my next visit and a free car wash! They explained to me about a couple issues that needed to be addressed and gave me a quote that was not horrible..I'm going to schedule my next appointment in a week or two so I can have piece of mind on and off the road. Thank you Garry's!

We have been going to Garry’s auto for 10 years now and they have never disappointed us. They go above and beyond to provide excellent customer service. Recently, we had a question about some work they did on our van, and they went out of their way to make sure we felt completely confident in the repairs they had made. Moreover, their vehicle repair work is excellent. Or van runs great and will continue to run smoothly for a long time thanks to Garry’s. I highly recommend Garry's. Took my vehicle in with a check engine light and other issues. Since it is a BMW Hybrid, Garry's was unable to remediate my issues. However, they ran the diagnostics to the point that the BMW system would allow them and communicated with me clearly on the issues my vehicle was presenting. They were very communicable and provided me with as much help as they could. They offered me further advice to help correct my issues and were very polite when breaking the news to me. If any of my other vehicles have any issues, I will give Garry's a call before any other shop going forward. I was very pleased with my service, even though they couldn't fix everything wrong with my car at this time.

Garry's has provided terrific service everytime. Most recently, my vehicle needed an oil change and I was concerned about an oil leak. They checked it out and were able to identify where the leak was occurring. Additionally, they informed me some concerns about my vehicle and were honest about what concern was the most critical. Not only were they friendly and understanding of my limited vehicle knowledge, they were extremely patient with answering any and all questions I had regarding the repairs. The only partial downfall was how far out they are booked, but with great service in every area this is to be expected. Jared and the team at Garry's Automotive took amazing care of my car. I went in for an oil change, was provided a nice place to sit and work (free WiFi is an added bonus!), and my car was done in about an hour, which was exactly what they told me to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to be gifted with a free car wash at any Bluebird Car Wash and $10 in Garry's Bucks to discount my next service. The whole experience was easy and pleasant! Highly recommend!

Your repairs are effective, no doubt, but prices are getting unreasonable. Paid about $400 more than I expected. New starters via auto parts vendors ranged from $129 to $229. An hour for installation (?) say $100 plus a route oil change. My bill was close to $800. Yes, the vehicle inspection is appreciated (courtesy?) but I really can't afford it and should be asked in advance (major med expenses lately). STAFF IS FANTASTIC, FRIENDLY, CUSTOMER ORIENTED AND I APPRECIATE THEM. I TRUST this business for their work competence, but you are getting close to pricing me out of your customer data base. Thank you for all your service so far...

As my Chevy Cruise started sputtering out and my engine light kicked on, I found myself in a pinch. I had never used Garry's Automotive before, but fortunately they were one of the only businesses that was open and close enough for my car to make it to. I was nervous because they weren't my usual, but I took a leap of faith. I couldn't have been happier. Not only where they able to figure out the complicated issue with my engine, but they gave me a detailed list and photographs of everything they found needed attention on my car. I never felt pressured to do everything they recommended, but felt more like they wanted me to fully understand the full scope and take charge of my car the way I wanted to. My car runs beautifully once again and I couldn't have been happier with their services. I will be a returning customer because they are by far the best I have ever had in town.

Integrity, Integrity, Integrity! I took my truck in for "brake noise". Come to find out, I had bent the rear axle while offroading (major damage). Alex advised me and it ended up becoming an insurance claim which forced me to take it to the dealership for the work, they could have done it but my insurance company uses the dealer/rental car agency as their preferred. Garry's did not charge me for the work it took to find the issues and didn't try to sell me unnecessary brakes. I will continue to use Garry's for every car need.

We have had several problems with our 2011 Ford F150 over the past several months. Garry’s has been great and super helpful in our decisions to repair vs replace. I called the shop as I was driving and experiencing “bad behavior”. They had me drive right to the shop and sent a tech with me to troubleshoot. I haven’t seen that with any other shop and found it super helpful. Fair pricing, super communication and while we didn’t want spend that much, we felt they were able to inspect all other systems and advise us well on what the repairs but us vs just trading it in. Garry's is everything I want in a shop to care for my cars. They are friendly, conscientious about keeping me informed, their prices are fair, and they take appointments. That is why I am having them do the service on my CPO Subaru and my 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. There was an unexpected repair required on the Caravan, but they got it done within the same timeframe of my appointment and the coupons they send out really saved me money! Cody was great as a chauffeur dropping me off then picking me up to get my vehicle. This is a usually a problem for me because I am the only driver in the family and it's difficult to find someone to act as chauffeur. The only problem I had was small...they don't take checks and my debit card has a limit that was under my bill. It was easily fixed by using a credit card but it wasn't planned.

My experience with Garry's Automotive was by far the best experience that I've had with a mechanic. Not only were they able to get my car in the morning after I called, but they helped me prioritize what needed to be immediately fixed and what I should keep an eye on. I have been taking my(family) vehicles to Garry's for 17 years. They have serviced cars/trucks/SUVs for us. I have found them to be extremely honest and easy to have discussions with. There is never any "high pressure" for repair. They will thoroughly review your vehicle, give you a report of what's what and a cost for the individual repairs. You can choose if you wish to do some/all/none of the repairs, no pressure, it's all up to you. They have saved me money over the years by their recommendations. All of their staff are extremely courteous, professional and knowledgeable. And ..... they have no problem answering questions, for those us us, who are not, mechanically inclined (another very big plus!).

Great service from start to end. This was my first time taking there and they got me in quickly without any appointments as I needed to get on a road trip. All the recommendations were on point. Just some issue with check engine light as it was not there when I gave my car, but they were nice enough to fix that for me without any cost and seems it was the dust due to the repairs. I had extensive engine and transmission work done on a 20 year old truck at Garry's. The work was completed in April 2021. They treated me well and listened to my needs. They performed excellent work. Recently, my truck developed an electrical issue. They diagnosed the issue and repaired it. It has been 8 months since the work was done and due to that work, I was not charged for the current issue. In addition to excellent mechanics, Customer Service is key and Garry's has both! On my latest issue, they could not duplicate the symptoms indicated by the codes shown on my OBD tool after my car started hesitating. They didn’t charge for the the diagnostic time. This is the first time we've taken a vehicle to Garrys. We have previously used another shop in Meridian that is quite pricey. I chose Garry's because of the many, many 5 star reviews. I sure wish mechanic shops didn't have such an untrustworthy stereotype. I took my GMC in because the brakes make a grinding sound after driving it for a while. I thought I may need to new brakes/rotors. They said the brakes/rotors looked fine and would hate for me to spend $300-$500 on a new brake setup for no reason. They checked the wheel bearings and couldn't find any reason for the grinding sound. He said that mechanically and safety wise, everything was just fine. There was no charge for the inspection or brake check. Although I still don't think any brakes should make a grinding noise, I am grateful to know the car is still safe to drive and truly hope it is just a rough patch in the brake pad. I'd be willing to use Garry's again after this experience. I appreciate the fact that they were honest!

Visited Garry's Automotive for the first time to have my transmission and 4X4 component fluids changed out. Scheduling was very easy and their availability was accommodating. We dropped my truck off for service and the only snag we ran into was not having a shuttle ride available. Garry's does ask that customers notify them ahead of their appointment if you require a shuttle. Other than that my truck was completed by their estimated timeframe and done well. I'm pleased with the services and price paid. I will use Garry's in the future for services I myself cannot perform.

I have had one of the most painless and pleasant experiences at a mechanic here at Garry's Automotive. They were honest and friendly while providing quick and solid work. One of my battery cables quit working and they squeezed me in and took care of it within a day. The prices are half that of a dealership with dealership level quality and communication. When I left they gave me a carwash coupon and offered me a beverage.I will be coming back here for my familiar's oil changes and any other maintenance that comes up.

Excellent experience here. I had some concerns with my F250 Diesel. They were able to fit me in for an inspection on fairly short notice, and only charged me for time. They determined there actually were no issues, and didn't try to sell any unnecessary service - none. On top of that, they provided a local shuttle to get us to the airport while the truck was being looked at. They had timely communication and clear answers. Much appreciated!

I've been using Garry's for years and with just about ever car my family has owned. They have always been very upfront about what needs done and when. If something isn't really a problem, but will be, they'll tell you. I've never had to worry about unnecessary repairs or wasted money. As they've grown, they've added new things like the digital report, which is an awesome "show don't tell" writeup of your car inspection with pictures. I recommend Garry's to anyone looking for a mechanic and look forward to continuing to work with them.

A shop that goes above and beyond to show and describe anything they find that need attention. Told me about a small seep around my oil pan but mentioned that was pretty common for an older vehicle and didn't try to push servicing it. Recommended instead to keep an eye on it. All in all great service and communication!

I have been going to Garry's for about 11 years now for all my Automotive needs. Their service has always been great and they have the highest integrity, which is hard to find in the automotive industry. I have had warranty work done there and other routine maintenance and either way they treat you right and only fix what needs fixed. They have always treated us like family. Also being with me being in the Military they are very Veteran friendly. Garry's have great mechanics and front office people that realize that the customer needs and a good reputation are more important than over charging the customer. Their shop is always clean and clutter free to me says they take pride in what they do and where they work. Their mechanics are some of the most highly trained and certified in the area, which I appreciate. I would highly recommend Garry's to anyone. I will be taking my cars to them for as long as I am in the Boise.

I have just had the oil changed in on of my three cars. They take appointments which is what I like. It took less than an hour. They also did a quick check up of my car. They suggested a few minor maintenance issues which I will follow up on later. As usual the Garry’s team are very knowledgeable and keep my cars running well. Update November 2021: I just acquired a used Dodge Grand Caravan. I wanted to make sure is was in good order for a long road trip. I had Garry's check it out. Changed the oil. Battery needed replaced because it was 10 years old. Air filters all changed. No other issues found beyond normal serving. I am now set for the long trip I will take and with comfort that I have my rig in great traveling order. Update may 2020: I just completed a quick oil change on my Acura. Garry’s’ tech pointed out a few maintenance issues that I might want to take care of in the future. I appreciate that they take good care of my car(s). Update June 2021 I needed a minor repair on my Mazda. The problem was quickly diagnosed and quickly repaired once the part was received. Another great service completed. Thank you.

For four years Garry's has performed maintenance as well as major service, such as replacing the timing belt and valve cover gasket, on our Toyota. The work has been excellent and reasonably priced, and there have been times when the bill was less than I expected/feared. If you need to wait, there's a clean and comfortable area for that. Otherwise, they'll take you home and pick you up when your car is ready. Lastly, they don't become impatient when faced with a bunch of questions. Keep it up!

This was our first time using Garry's Automotive. We took our car in and received a call later that day with the estimates on some critical repairs. There is a trade off with Garry's service. The service fees are $150 per hour Vs. what we were used to at $75 per hour. The difference came in time spent waiting for repairs to be completed. Our normal provider would have taken a week or more to complete the repairs. Garry's had our car back to us in 2 days. Convenience was worth the money and the car is performing better than ever. Thanks for the service.

I own a carpet cleaning company so obviously when my service van needs repairs its often a super stressful event to get it in the shop and repaired without missing too much work. A few weeks back i had a major oil leak. I scheduled with Garry's and let them know my time constraints. Wow! I wish I lived in Boise because Garry's would be my go to mechanic. I live far away, but was looking to buy a car located in Boise. I had the car brought to Garry's where they only charge $100 to do a used car inspection. (Ford wanted to charge near $200 and they wanted the car all day!) Garry's made an appointment and started on the car right away so they only had it 1 hour! They were SUPER professional with excellent communication via email and phone. They did a thorough, trustworthy job and saved me from traveling only to see a car that I would not purchase. I sent several emails with tons of requests and questions about the car. I cannot believe they actually answered ALL of my questions and even beyond what I asked. I would use them again and again. Note: I often wonder if 5 stars ratings are bogus from a bunch of friends of the company. This is no bogus review. I worked with Justin and a couple of their technicians and they were all superb. I just wish I could find a group like them where I live so I have a place I feel safe taking my car. UPDATE - Wow! Again. I was not asked at all by them to leave a review, previously or now, but I felt they deserved it, so I took the time. After the company read my review, they personally thanked me. Then, they paid enough attention to my review to notice I was wishing for someone like them where I live. They went to the next step and asked around their company for a recommendation in my area. Then they reached out to me personally and let me know of a reputable mechanic in my own area. I looked that recommendation up, and sure enough, they have great reviews. I will check it out. Who does this anymore? Who cares this much and then goes so far beyond the basic requirement of their job? I am again pleasantly surprised.

I brought my car in for an inspection, expecting to have some things fixed, due the the intense grinding on my left driver’s side. They quoted me for the inspection and gave me a time frame of when they would be done. After inspecting my car they emailed me with all of the details and photos of what they found. They went over the details by phone (I certainly had a number of things wrong with my car and knew about it but was only interested in fixing the safety issues). We concluded that the breaks, rotors and Left CV joint needed replaced and an oil change and said they could have it done by the end of the day. They called with updates when things didn’t go as planned but ultimately were able to fix my car that day, without additional parts or time. This place provided exceptional service! They even gave me some vouchers to use when I’m ready to come back and fix a few other things that are needed. I would recommend them to anyone who is in need of any car service! They can pretty much do anything from what I gathered. Best mechanic shop in Boise. I'll be honest, they are more expensive than other shops in the Valley, but the quality work they do make it worth every penny. When you have an old dodge like mine, the maintenance fees can add up, But Jared and the rest of the crew have repeatedly worked with me to keep in in the range I can afford and still maintain an excellent level of quality. I wouldn't trust my truck with any of the other shops. One of the nicest people out there. The mechanic literally took out 30-40minutes from his pretty busy schedule to do a FREE pre-purchase inspection for me. Granted it wasn't a full check because of how busy the garage is and that they could only do a full inspection after 2 weeks, who else would take out time from their day to help you in their field of expertise and then not even charge you for the time and effort? I understand that they probably did so to build loyalty, and let me tell you, they succeeded. Anytime I have a problem from now, I will go here (hopefully I don't have to though, haha).

Had to take my Prius in as a bunch of warning lights (ABS, Brake, etc) had popped on and I had lost the ABS system. Garry's checked it out, read the codes and found out for me that this was covered under extended warranty by Toyota. Long story short Garry's didn't charge me a thing for the checkup and Toyota will in fact fix the problem for free. That's what I call service above and beyond the call of duty. They'll have all of my business from now on!

The short story is they are honest and helpful, with a very professional system of helping you know what is right and wrong with your vehicle. The long story is I was buying a truck for towing a trailer...when shopping for this truck I called around for some help making sure there were no red flags mechanically. They helped me do a full diagnostic for just a few bucks, saving me $600 over one of the other shops I called to check the vehicle out! Not only this, but knowing the truck would need thousands in service, they said don't buy it! Some mechanics would say sure, we can fix that for you if you buy the truck...knowing I'd lose money in repairs and be getting a bad deal. I've since taken two vehicles here and just for routine maintenance their follow up and email information shows you more than any shop I've ever worked with has. Excellent shop, friendly staff. Took my high mileage second gen Prius here for a routine checkup and fluid replacement and they got it running smoothly. The staff's professionalism is outstanding, they actually did the opposite of the upselling you see in most shops: I mentioned that I think the brakes might need to be replaced, and the guy at the front desk said that brake wear on hybrids like mine is minimal and that they likely didn't need to be replaced. In fact, the only recommendation they had was that I replace the struts due to the mileage and they offered to take care of it while it was in the shop. I declined but ended up buying the strut assemblies myself after noticing that I really could use new struts, and took the car back in a couple months later. They did the job for a reasonable price, with the caveat that BYOP service isn't covered under warranty (as expected). They reward loyalty through some decent promotions and physical `Garry's Bucks` featuring the mechanics' faces which is a fun touch.

I had a sensor go bad on my Subaru - this had happened before when my car was four years old when I was living in the DC area, so I knew the drill. I get a wrecker to tow (by the rear axle) it to the dealer - it sits there for two weeks and then they charge me big bucks.... But WOW! Was this time different!!! I've lived in Boise a little over a year and when the sensor failed, I called people I knew but most of them just went to the dealer where they bought their cars to get repairs. So I looked online and looked at the companies that had the highest ratings. And then I called Garry's. They connected me with a great towing company that sent a roll-up to get my car and then the next day, Garry's called me to tell me what the problem was and what it would cost - and then they fixed it THAT DAY. I had my car back the next morning - AND they charged me less than half of what I paid the last time!! Am I impressed? Oh Yea!!! I am very attached to my little Subaru - when I bought this car, it was the first time in my life that I could go to a dealership and tell them what I wanted and have them find it for me, instead of haggling over the cheapest car in the lot. I plan to keep this car for a VERY LONG time - and I will take it to Garry's again when it needs work!!

I was tired of the poor service I received taking my vehicle to the dealership. My wife and father both recommended Garry's and I decided to give it a try. I called in to schedule an oil change and they were able to get me in within a reasonable amount of time. When I arrived, I was given an approximate timeline for when my oil change would be done (~1 hour). The service coordinator, Aleks, kept me updated on the progress; the appointment took a little longer than their estimate, but it was due to my truck taking more oil than they had on hand. The additional wait time was minimal, as these guys hustle! I also discussed with Aleks some upcoming maintenance that had been recommended by the dealership service (60K maintenance) and some other auto service providers (new shocks and struts). Aleks talked through with me what was necessary and what was just being pressured by the dealership. He gave me a quote for the 60K maintenance and was significantly under the quote of the dealership. An awesome 1st impression by the Garry's team. I will definitely bring my truck back there for oil changes and other maintenance needs. I like supporting local businesses and it makes it even easier when the business knocks it out of the park. As with all things mechanical sometimes you have a catastrophic failure at the most unexpected moment. Our Jeep's AC went out just before a long trip this summer. Gary's was great to get it in to look at as soon as possible and the staff is great and helpful. The AC was fixed but then the control panel melted right after we picked it up. They took care of it right away. Then two days later we had a catastrophic failure of the radiator. Really, I just wanted to cry with all of this happening at once. But Gary's staff was on it. They wer sympathetic, supportive and helpful. We have the jeep back and all is working great now. I highly recommend this shop.

We are previous customers of Garry's. Our 2006 Toyota Avalon with 125k miles on it, was having steering problems namely making a whining noise whether going forward, backward or whatever direction I wanted to go. We took it into Garry's Automotive on May 29, 2019, and they priced the diagnostics at $80-120 to see what was wrong with it. Shanell M., called us back the next day and told us that the Steering package needed taken out and the Power Steering pump needed re-filled which should eliminate the whining noise. I picked it up on June 1, 2019. I, (Cliff the owner of Toyota) talked to Shanell M., and Jared (owner of Garry's), and we discussed what was done and everything seemed to be in order. We were charged a total of $2,361, the labor for taking out the steering package was $808 just by itself, the total labor charge was $1100, and about $1200 for parts. They both were very nice and explained everything so I could understand it. The car runs great, and no bad sounds at all! They gave me a couple of Garry's Bucks for next visit. I would highly recommend them for your auto repair needs.

They say that, like dogs, vehicles tend to age faster than their owners. This is certainly the case with the 2002 Buick Rendezvous that my wife has driven since 2003. The shock of the degree or repairs needed on this 115K vehicle was not pleasant. However, the crew at Gary's were able to do all the work needed, at albeit a reasonable price for the market, and completed all necessary items before we picked the car up. It's a bit premature to gauge all aspects of the major repairs, but I am hopeful that there will be no problems. Gary's provides a 3-year, 36,000 mile warranty on their work, and will be there tomorrow if we need follow-up. I think that we will be happy with the decision to fix up a paid-for vehicle than navigate the seas of a new purchase. I will provide a follow-up in a month or so.

I'll share two different instances (of many) of superior care: 1- We had to go out of town for our brother's funeral. They squeezed us in and stayed after hours to repair the vehicle to ensure it was road worthy. They didn't want a car malfunction to be part of our memories about going to the funeral. The service was great and very timely! I initially took my car in for an oil leak, squealing belt, and oil change. All, in which, were fixed/completed. The full comprehensive inspection was quite thorough as well and they were able to identify some extra TLC that my 2003 Infiniti G35 needed; however they were not pushy when it came to wanting to do all of the maintenance for me since I will be doing some myself to save a little money. The staff was extremely friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. While picking up the car, my wife and I, embarrassingly, locked our keys in our other car. Clean facility and friendly staff. I brought my vehicle in, they diagnosed it and originally gave me a quote well above others. Jared called me to rectify the situation and even told me that they would transport the vehicle to another mechanic if that needed to happen. It got worked out in the end and they did the work. No more check engine light. Jared worked with me to resolve it and is very serious about earning your business. As a service plumber, I always recommend shopping your prices from mechanics or any service, but I don’t ever recommended the cheapest guy. I appreciate what Jared did for me and I’m happy that this kind of customer service exists. Just as the temperature began to heat up outside I began to have problems with my AC and I wasn't able to get my car in anywhere for several days. Someone referred me to Garry's and they were huge help. They got me in that same afternoon and diagnosed my problem within minutes. Besides the oil change my Ford Escape needed, I also got other problems checked and taken care of that pleased me. I no longer worry about what was causing the occasional thump coming from the front end. After a couple years of having an electric window that didn't work, it's now fully operational and Garry's also detected a leak in a front axle seal and repaired it. This past week I had to have my roadside assistance haul my Escape to Garry's, it needed a new battery plus more front axle seal work-glad they caught that. I recently had my driveline in my GT500 rebuilt back home, Spokane, WA, and drove down to Boise with my wife for our anniversary. About halfway there I noticed a different noise coming from under my car. That next day I took it by Garry's and had them check it out. Really great thing I did. The bolts that connect my driveshaft to my transmission were loose!!! So as I was shifting and the car was moving back and forth the driveshaft wasn't properly in place. I have no idea how much further I could have gone without something catastrophic happening. They get me in immediately, fixed the issue for a very fair price and got me back on the road. We were on a long road trip when we hit some debris in the road and the check engine light came on. We were driving through Boise at the time and decided to get it checked out before we left a populated area. We stopped at Garry's Auto because it was the first place we could find. We walked in and explained our predicament and asked if they could possibly look at it. Within 20 minutes it was on a lift getting checked out by a technician. This is a situation where many motorists are taken advantage of, but everything checked out fine and they sent us on our way again without charging us. This is a great place. Me and my family was traveling from Washington to Arizona when we broke down in Oregon. I found Garry's on the web with great reviews. I call at 4:00 and asked if they could look at my truck the next day. They were able to move things around to get me in. I had AAA tow the truck to them that night. That being said I had some concerns that I had posted here last week and I was pretty surprised that the owner, Jared, called me and we went over the whole situation. He saw where there was a mistake made in the notes from the diagnosis and then from there how it snowballed. He applogized and wanted to make it right. People are human and we all make mistakes but to see a owner care to the point where he called and made it right is incredible in this day and age. It seems they did a thorough investigation to determine why our vehicle's headlights only work on high-beam. However, during the testing process, which cost $130, they didn't notice and report the 3 exterior bulbs that were burnt out. I would expect those to be identified as needing replaced during a basic safety walkaround/check. The repair quote pricing came in on the high side of average. Quote was for totals of recommended work without a breakdown of parts and labor.
