Absolutely the best customer service!! The waiting room is nicer than my living room!!Had a breakdown on the interstate 930 on a Friday nite and the owner answered the phone and got me in for service first thing in the morning. Has a very caring attitude for his customers. Derrin worked late into the nite making sure his customers were taken care of. Thank you definitely recommend!!!

God places us in the right place at the right time!! I needed my muffler put back into my car after it fell out (in the most convenient location possible). I thought I would have to figure out where to get my vehicle towed as I live out of town. AAA recommended this shop and it happened to be right behind me. I made it to the shop safely and was greeted by a mechanic (Jacob) to provide them with my information so they could contact me. I requested an estimate before any work was done and they adhered to my request. My exchanges with the mechanic and the owner were very professional, polite, and knowledgeable. A+++ The price was fair for the work completed, convenient location, as well as speed of service. This place offers a discount for AAA members. Very nice office and waiting room if you prefer to wait there. Would definitely recommend this place. Thank you so so much!!!!

I was driving through Yellowstone when my car had troubles. I had my car work done here because I don’t know the area and needed a mechanic I could trust. Like the other reviews say, the waiting area has couches which make it comfy and Darin collects food donations for the community.

The absolute biggest shout-out goes to Darren & the crew at Top Tech West Automotive! Long story short, my dad was getting his car fixed and suddenly passed away before he could get it fixed, let alone pay for it. 😞 The day after his passing, I called Top tech to let them know and Darren told me he would do everything in his power to help my family and I out and that included waiving the $35 storage fee (per day.) It’s been a month today so that has saved our family roughly $1000. That’s not even the best part. We decided to get my dads car fixed and called to get pricing. Tony, the receptionist, was so sincere and helpful, gave me all of the information I needed and was relieved to tell me that they decided to donate all of the labor costs, saving us hundreds of more dollars. 😭 I couldn’t help but cry and thank them for everything they’ve done. They’ve made a rough time for my family just a little bit easier. 😌 They are all about giving back, so if you need your car fixed, please give them a call. ❤️

I have dealt with lots of mechanic shops and have found most of them less than fair and honest. Not so here, this was my first time doing business with Darin and Jacob and I could not be happier with the level of service of this small shop but also the personal touch. Darin the owner took the time to make me feel like I was at home and valued me as a person. He walked me through every step of the repair process made sure I understood what was going on. Jacob the service tech was professional and caring as well as extremely knowledgeable. I can't say enough about this shop. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

When you happen to break down on the side of the highway in the middle of no where and you have your car/truck/van towed, id encourage you to have it towed here. Really nice people, we didn't book an appointment, but we needed to get fixed quick so we could be on our way. They performed a simple diagnostic on my transmission and was able to show me what went wrong. They're waiting room shows they have pride in Montana and pride in their work. The people that own this shop are car people, not people that own a shop chasing a huge profit. If I ever find myself in billings again, I would take my van back here, even for just a simple oil change.

Brought in my 1990 Dodge B250 to have my fuel pump replaced, the owner was VERY accommodating to the situation and helped me get back on road to continue my traveling in no time. Sam was the primary one who worked on my vehicle and was absolutely wonderful. This place was absolutely fantastic! I came in with a serious problem with my catalytic converter, and they managed to replace it in just a few hours. Any other shops would have taken days to even start working on it! And, a month later, my car is still purring like a kitten. Definitely some high-quality work! They had an incredibly fair price, they provide discounts when you donate to their local church, and the people there are extremely kind! Also, they have the most comfortable waiting room ever!!! I don’t live in Billings, but I know where I’m going to stop when I’m passing through and need anything done.

My son and I were travelling from Seattle to Omaha, NE. when our truck broke down in Billings. It was the Labor Day holiday weekend so the tow truck delivered our truck to TopTech on Monday, but of course they were closed. The service we received was outstanding. They had our truck repaired and by Tuesday afternoon we were back on the road. After about an hour of travel, we received a follow up call from them to make sure we weren't having any issues. Customer Service is definitely a huge part of their sucess.

I was referred to Top Tech after my passenger light failed to come in. I came in as a first time customer the day after and was taken care of right away. They diagnosed the problem immediately including the check engine light I had on. The staff is very knowledgeable and fast. I appreciated the last minute help since they seemed busy. Clay made sure my brakes, wiper fluid as well as my car ran smoothly before I left. I also bought some canned food to help with the food donation drive they do. So nice of them to help those in need. It is difficult to find a quality, trustworthy mechanic. It is even harder when you are in need of service thousands of miles from home. Darin not only squeezed us in last minute but provided amazing service and expertise. The price was fair and he even helped us find some local off-roading trails to play on. Darin went above and beyond when we called him weeks after service just to ask his opinion on changes we wanted to make on our jeep. To top it all off this is a Vet owned and operated business. I wish we lived closer!

I'm not one to typically write reviews, but I can not say enough good things about the service that Top Tech Automotive provided. I was traveling across country and happened to have an oil pump seal go out in my Subaru, among other things. The owner Darin was completely transparent about what he was doing, even taking me back into the shop to show me what was going on. He did a thorough job finding the problem and replacing everything needed so I could get back home safely. Darin and his crew all had great attitudes and truly seem to care about the customer. It's difficult to find an automotive shop as trusting and reliable as Top Tech Automotive. If you're in need of repairs in the Billings, MO area Top Tech is the place to go.

I recently moved to Billings from Minnesota for school. My brakes started grinding terribly right when I got into town and Top Tech was recommended by my landlord. They were able to get us in right away on Saturday morning, which was short notice as I called to make an appointment on Friday afternoon. My brakes were all shot - a problem that had been missed by the garage in my hometown. Top Tech was able to fix the problem the same day and get the car back to me as quick as possible. They did not do any work without first showing me the issue and giving me a quote. I appreciate how easy they were to communicate with, cleanliness of their shop, and how timely they were with the repairs. They even helped with brewery recommendations while we were killing some time waiting for repairs to be done. I will be going back for any future auto problems! Thanks Top Tech!

This is one of the best repair shops we've ever visited. We have an excellent independent mechanic in Florida but we happened to be in Billings when we needed a regular service. We have a 2009 Sprinter model 3500 RV conversion with running boards so not every lift can handle it. TopTech's shop is clean and organized which is always a good sign. Darren and crew, besides the requested lube/oil change and fuel filter, did a thorough check-up. They made a couple of suggestions to reduce the possibility of a break-down on our Alaska trip. We took their advice and we feel so much confident of a trouble-free journey. They got started a little late in the morning and they stayed after closing to make sure we got on the road before the weekend!! We watched them work and these guys are the best there is. (And way more reasonable and honest than a dealer.)

While driving cross country to get back home to Oregon, my AC compressor pulley was grinding itself. Top tech was the only shop within 30 miles that was willing to even see us on the same day we called. Darin helped us out and was so nice there whole time. This place was incredible! I had some car troubles along the way from Iowa to Seattle, and they came in to the shop early to help me out. They rushed me in as soon as they could, immediately found the problem, and gave a great fix. Very reasonable prices for life-savers. I called the day before on a Friday and they fitted me in on a Saturday the repair to my intake on my tahoe ended up costing more but was not there fault as my intake warped and other issues. They never gave up and got the job done fast and excellent. I never leave google reviews and I was so impressed I had to. I also never let any one else touch my cars besides me and top tech. Just bring it here and let them fix it it’s worth it and you get a 3 year warranty.

The receptionist and head mechanic were absolutely the best. I’ve been around A LOT of mechanics and very few uphold the quality that they did here. Once we explained our situation to them they collaborated with us to discover the best solution and I could tell they simply had our best intentions in mind not upselling for profit when it came to our brake issues. Top Tech did an amazing job at fixing up my truck. They really went above and beyond for my family so that we made it to California to visit family safely and with no problems. 2 days after getting home i had to take a business trip to Saskatoon Canada and once again it performed flawlessly. Darin and the guys working there are great at what they do and really gave me the impression that they are there to help and not take advantage of the gullible. I did not take my vehicle in for just the routine maintenance either. I was having tons of issues with my 4x4 as well as i had blown a CV joint and had a transmission leak b/c of the gasket on the pan going bad. They fixed this with some other issues that came up (including some shoddy work a previous mechanic did). Darin went so far as to take my vehicle over to dodge and have them verify the work that top tech did free of charge. This to me was just amazing and i could not have been more pleased with the service. Thank you Darin and the guys at top tech from the Nunley Family!

I don't ever go to mechanics due to the negative stigma of getting ripped off, but I'll always recommend these guys. They'll go out of their way for you and do what YOU need not what makes them the most money. Great quality and at a very fair price. I was dead in the water with my truck and needed to go to work and I was told exactly the problem via a cell phone picture within 15 min while others tried saying it was something else. They got me in that day and had me on the road again before I had to go back to work(which was 2 days, but a Saturday/ Sunday 2 days). Go with them if you want someone to actually care..... or find out the hard way by going with someone else.

During the 4th of July (2016) weekend, my son & I were traveling from the State of Washington to Mississippi. My son's 2002 Honda Accord engine began to "loose power" as if the cruise control was going on & off. Top Tech was 1 of very few auto repair shops that were open this weekend. Arriving at this shop, there were 6 other customers there (3 travelers and 3 locals) with only the manager (Darin) servicing cars. He was very dedicated to the work and treated each customer with importance. The repair work was "spot-on" and we had no issues after his repair work. He worked all day without eating lunch to get the customers taken care of...especially all of the travelers. My son bought him and his small crew lunch so they could get something in their stomachs to finish the jobs. Great work done! Great customer service!

Very friendly and great to deal with. We were 1100 miles away from home when our chevy Malibu started leaking coolent. They were able to diagnose everything quick. They got us in and fixed us up in a few hrs to get us back on the road. If we werent 1100 miles away we'd make them our go to mechanic all the time!

Darrin here at Top Tech Auto was kind and courteous in helping me with fixing my brakes. I took it in to him to have them checked and when he told me they needed replaced, he showed me all that was wrong with them. Afterwards, I had him replace them and got them done in one day even though he was really busy and it was the weekend. I love my new brakes, they definitely are a lot better now that I'm not screeching everywhere and the feel while braking is not hard on my vehicle. Also a great thing is that his business donates to the local churches, and with the time I was able to take it in was able to get my vehicle a free diagnosis from the donation of canned food items for those in need. Amazing job. I hit a deer on my way to college. It busted my front headlight and shifted the whole body of my car. Even though their shop is not a body shop they took on my car and thankfully the incredible Top Tech Automotive staff was able to get me on the road again that very day. I was extreamly impressed with their food drive payment method. They offer deals to people if they donate canned food to a local church. While traveling home to GA from Gallatin Gateway, MT we incurred a problem pulling our Mallard M25 travel trailer...a constant check trailer connection chime followed by a confirmation chime that the trailer was connected. We began calling RV and automotive places in route in hopes for some assistance. Everyone offered helpful suggestions but were too busy to see us. Top Tech West served us immediately, pinpointed, and fixed our issue and saw us safely back to our travels in a short period of time. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and hospitable. Top Tech performed a pre-purchase inspection of a truck I was planning to buy. They took the truck for a test drive and thoroughly inspected the truck in their shop. They identified several things that needed repair immediately and other things that would need to be repaired in the future. A few weeks ago my car broke down at the First Interstate ATM right next to Top Tech Automotive. An employee ran over and helped start my car for free calling it his "good deed for the day" and I was extremely thankful because it saved me a towing charge. Since I've had my vehicle the only issues I've had have been with my battery and alternator (which is why my car broke down). The owner personally dealt with me and since I'm a poor college kid he got me the best deal he could. I wanted to wait to post anything to see how my car did in the cold and it has started up every single day on the first turn, even in -15! Thank you Top Tech Automotive, I'll be back!

Derrin and his team were the only shop in the area willing to take a look at my vehicle on such short notice, despite their busy schedule. On top of being friendly guys (Derrin and I believe Clay were the guys I talked most with) they were also knowledgable and thorough, and took us through exactly what troubleshooting methods they used to isolate the problem my vehicle was having. I was writing a review but it got way too long describing the circumstances. Short story is, I was stranded in Billings Saturday afternoon of Labor Day weekend. AAA towed my car to them. Not knowing them what-so-ever at all, these guys got girlfriend and I back on the road. They are honest, great mechanics. Could have raked me over the coals cuz I was in a bind but they didn't. I left a little humbled by how kind the staff were and how they went above and beyond to help me out, as I traveled through the city and needed a quick fix. Treated me like family. Long story short, we were driving from Michigan and started having Sprinter van problems in North Dakota. This was the only place that was willing to take us in short notice and work on a Sprinter. We got there 10 minutes before they closed and they still took the time to diagnose what was going on. Alright it’s been many Months sense too tech worked on my truck and I am prepared to give an honest review and not one out of anger. In my time of need too tech tow ed my vehicle to there shop found the issue quoted me a price and then by the end of the job the price went up theee times . Darren is either the nicest guy in the world or biggest manipulator on the planet. My truck was not done or worked on in a timely fashion and by the end I ended paying close to 6,000 dollars and my truck had issues from Billings to Beulah North Dakota. I drove the truck with issues for months then started looking into it . Four out of eight coil packs where not bolted down so I was misfiring the whole entire time. Look Darren helped me in times of need even gave us a loaner vehicle for my wife was pregnant and we was aggravated not having our vehicle. I am not saying do not use too tech Darren does know what he is doing he just tries to hard to please everyone and gets in to deep. For what I paid for and what I got I am not happy at all but the original issue that started the long list of repairs I have had no issues. And fixed other issues that I am happy with but I do feel token advantage of he had my truck for three months. I was to the point that I was so far in that I couldn’t stop and I feel he knew that. Idk but I ha r mixed feeling about this shop I thought of Darren as a friend but also feel like he manipulated to me . Just use caution this shop does know what they are doing just be firm and careful

These guys are amazing! My throttle cable on my 84 ford 150 snapped out of the middle of nowhere and left me stranded on the side of road. I called around to a few places and nobody could offer any help or availability as far as appointments went. I then called Top Tech Automotive (they were the closest shop to where I had broke down ), they were REALLY friendly and got me in the same day!!! They also found a throttle cable the VERY same day, which apparently was deemed to be impossible by a lot of shops that I had called previously. My son, a student at Montana Tech in Butte, was traveling to Billings on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 pm when he experienced car trouble about 60 miles from Billings. I called Top Tech and explained the situation and they agreed to wait for him to make in into town even though it would be close to their closing time. They called me and told me the issue which verified what I thought it was. Unbelievably they offered to come in on Sunday to do the repairs as they knew he had to be back at school on Monday. I also overheard them asking my son if he had a place to stay. They sent me pictures of the bad parts and got my son back on the road. Their charges were very reasonable. I haven't had that good of an experience with any shop in years and am very grateful for all they did.

Check engine light came on while moving across the country. This shop was the only place in town that I found that was certified to work on Volkswagen. They squeezed me in despite being busy, let me sleep in my car in their lot over night, and I felt they were very open, transparent, and honest about their work. They saw I had everything in my car and was counting pennies so they made sure to help me out. The waiting room accommodations are fancy -- refreshments, couches, books, and ski lodge atmosphere. Judging by the other reviews, I can see this place appearing expensive and whatnot but I'd say it's worth it. If you want a place that looks all run down and will do work dirt cheap -- do that. All the people are friendly and so is their resident doggo, Tank. Tank, you rock.

We are traveling the country in a used older RV. It needed a few repairs to make it safe and comfortable. We took it to four different places and said basically, "just fix it, just take our money". Thousands of dollars later, it was still barely drive-able. Then we found Top Tech. They found the problem and several others that had been bothering us but were difficult to diagnose. I could never say enough good things about Darrin & the crew and the peace of mind they gave me. I'd taken my '05 Hyundai Santa Fe to the dealership asking that they give it a once over, they came back with a list that tipped the scale at nearly $7,000. On a single income it wasn't an option. Knowing nothing about the shop I called TopTech scrambling for a 2nd opinion. Darrin opened a spot for me within an hour of my call; it wasn't a slow day, I couldn't find a spot to park the car in his lot! Over the next hour and a half TopTech checked every part of my rig, finding problems the dealership mechanics missed AND their estimate to do all the same work as the dealership was less than half what I was quoted before. Darrin also took me into the shop when my car was on the lift; he showed me all the damage, let me know how he'd fix it and explained everything. Fast forward a day and a half and I had my car back, my gas mileage was up 6 mpg, and my lil' Fe was driving better than ever. As a woman who usually gets brushed off or patronized by mechanic shops I was blown away by the effort Darrin and the crew put into making sure I understood everything about the repairs, they even texted me pictures as they worked on the car! When they found damaged items that we hadn't anticipated they called to ask how I'd like them to handle it; many shops would have fixed it and just charged me without asking. Everyone who works here was so good to me; I've never had people work so hard to be so good to me! Go see these guys!!

Darin immediately identified the source of the problem and discovered several other significant issues that other shops (and myself) have missed over the past 4 years; including belt misalignment on the alternator and power steering, a plugged vacuume line on the distributor, and several other issues other shops have cut corners on. He went the extra mile to make sure everything was done correctly and explained and showed me the faults and corrections. I was on my way to FL from WA when my Ford Taurus broke down on east I 90 ten miles outside of Billings MT. The driver of the tow truck from Big Horn Body Shop & Towing recommended TopTechW to me. When we got there I explained to Gil how my car broke down, where I came from and where I was going. When he did a diagnostic on my car he informed me that I had a blown head gasket and it wasn't worth fixing. He also informed me at that time that he would not charge me for the diagnostic test and even went out of his way to help me find a car rental agency or uhaul to help get the rest of the way to at least Illinois, where I had family. When Darin, the owner came in and became aware of my situation, he also went out of his way to help me out. Darin offered to sell me his loaner car and I accepted his offer. I am now in Paris, IL staying with family until I can get to FL. If not for Darin and Gil going out of their way to help me I would still be stranded in Billings, MT. Thank you Darin and Gil you are wonderful people who are truly blessed. You didn't have to do what you did for me, but you did anyway. I was driving a 2005 Jaguar from Minnesota to Washington State in heavy snow the last days of December. The car had been having shutter problems thatt got worse in the mountains. I had my son in Baltimore find a mechanic online who could deal with an aging British car quickly. There are no Jaguar dealers in Montana. I assumed the transmission was going out and was ready to pay for a replacement. Darrin at Top Tech helped me get the car to his shop under blizzard condions in Billings. He worked on the car late into the night while his daughter was in labor with his first grandchild. The problem was complex and related to misfiringi oin the engine. When the blizzrd subsided I was able to sprint out of Billings and through the mountains of northern Idaho with a highly functioning and road worthy Jaguar thanks to Top Tech.

After some faulty and overpriced work, Darren did eventually get back to me and made the tail light fix right and refunded some of the money. Darren demonstrated a sound knowledge of auto mechanics. I would say he just spread himself too thin trying to run a second shop in Williston five hours away from his home base in Billings. When the oil boom was going strong many businesses had a hard time getting enough help and oftentimes good help. I’m sure he would say he was one of them. I would suspect now that he has closed up the shop in Williston things are going much better for his business in Billings. Having run my own business back in the 70’s I know how those things can happen. I give him credit for getting back to me and being willing to give a discount.
