I’ve been doing business with Xpertech for years. I’ve always found them to be honest, helpful, and reasonably priced. They make great effort to explain what needs to be repaired, show it to you, so that you understand throughout the process, what they’re doing. Their prices are competitive. Communication throughout is very good. Their parking lot is always full, most major repairs will require an appointment, because word has gotten out, regarding how good they are!

I took my 1998 Chevy Express here because it was stalling going up hills, and no one else would work on it because it was a hard to diagnose electrical issue. It took them a bit to get it fixed, but sure enough, it's now running like a dream! I spent dozens of hours trying to figure it out myself to no avail before bringing it in. The people at xpertech are extremely knowledgeable and will get you back on the road.

Just moved here from Florida and I was online looking for a good shop to go to and stumbled upon Xpertech Car Care. Every review I read from hundreds of people were all saying the same thing. Truly honest people, they don’t force you to get anything that you don’t need. When I arrived, I was observing how the workers would talk to the customers and it was very professional and very honest too. They all seemed to be very genuine when it comes to your car and not some random place looking to make a quick dollar. My 2012 Chevy Sonic had to get a good amount of things done and I did most of what was needed. Despite it being $1,200, I didn’t feel bad spending it because of how great my experience was with them. Highly recommend and definitely coming back in the future which I need to get another thing done anyway.

Always reliable and trustworthy. Having a 2004 Corolla I’ve had experiences where I’ve been told I needed work at other garages that wasn’t really needed. 6 years here and have needed very little. They will actually do an oil change and nothing else if it’s not needed. I also appreciate the heads up of what WILL be needed it advance. 50 years of garages in 4 states and this one is my all-time favorite. I almost hate writing the review, they are busy!

I picked Xpertech after a google search of Honda service locations in Asheville. My wife and I were traveling, and we needed an oil change for our CR-V. Xpertech worked us into their day's schedule after I walked in at 8 a.m. I had a chance to observe their operation for about two hours, and I could tell this was a well-run, customer-friendly shop with an outstanding work ethic. Kevin, the owner, is constantly on the move, and he really knows his stuff. Made a point of updating me on progress of my work, even as he was handling other customers, taking calls, instructing staff and mechanics, and seeming to be everywhere at once. Gave a great impression of a true car guy. He made a point of letting me know of additional filters needing to be changed and tires that probably would need to be replaced in a couple of months. The shop's work was excellent and very fairly priced. As I told them when I had paid and was ready to leave, if I lived in Asheville, they would get all my work. A great small business, and I highly recommend.

Fabulous experience! Excellent repair work, very fair pricing, and great customer service. My truck handles so much better now. Price for replacing inner and outer tie rods was half the price quoted for just outer tie rods at another place. I’ll definitely be getting all of my service done here from now on. The owner, Kevin did my test drive and checked my vehicle over before I left the lot. This place is rocking busy so make sure you make an appointment.

Highly recommend Xpertech for three primary reasons: 1. Quality of work 2. They do not price gouge 3. They are honest and transparent in informing you about issues your car has, but they don't push to sell non-essential services. I have been to so many big box shops, as well as small shops, that do the exact opposite of all of the above, so I'm hugely grateful for having discovered this shop. I've been going here for several years now, and refuse to go anywhere else, unless I'm out of town. In my opinion, Xpertech doesn't price gouge or push for non-essental services simply because they don't need to. Xpertech remains consistently busy. The job at hand is quite simply the job at hand, and they don't need to sell you anything else. They will let you know about underlying issues, but they WILL NOT push. And on the other side of the coin, Xpertech maintains steady work and remains consistently busy because they are honest, don't push non-essential services, and don't price gouge. It is a quite simple business plan that many companies have lost: quality of care and consumer satisfaction results in more return consumers and ultimately grows the company through word of mouth... Quite literally, if I hear a random stranger talking about car troubles anywhere in Asheville, I immediately recommend that they check out Xpertech before anywhere else. This all starts at the top and trickles down and back up again, like a water fountain. With Xpertech, it is an endless cycle of integrity and diligence of ownership and staff that promotes quality of care, that in turn promotes customer satisfaction, and thus continually re-vitalizes the pursuit of excellence by the Xpertech company. While I hate it when my car beaks down, I'm glad to be a part of the Xpertech cycle, and to put my car in hands that I trust.

Xpertech is beyond honest, fairly priced, fast, professional, and their work has NEVER failed me. I have a 1998 GMC pickup and they treat it like a Rolls Royce! They’ve even told me when something didn’t need to be fixed when I thought it did. To have a team you can count on to to care for you aging car like it was their own, to not have to dread a trip to the the mechanic, and to not have to worry about being advantage of (especially as a woman, sad to say) removes one huge stress from anyone’s life!

I rarely feel comfortable around mechanics (I always worry that I'll be charged for a flux capacitor or something), but Xpertech is the exception. They do exceptionally high quality wor, and go to great lengths to explain why the work needed to be done after I ask an annoying amount of idiot questions. I've had all sorts of inspections and check ups and maintenance here, and every time I felt like I got a fair deal from honest people--something that's in short supply these days. I'd give them more stars if Google would let me.

We had seen Expert Car Care when I was there. She called to tell me that 2 of their staff members were so good to her. Kevin and Summer. Apparently Kevin saw that a bearing needed to be replaced or she could have had serious issues on the road. Summer talked to her about driving safely there. These people are serious, professional and do very good work, but are also willing to take the time to have a discussion about the work to be performed. Very nice experience at Xpertech! I found Xpertech through a recommendation on Nextdoor social media website. My 2005 Lexus RX330 had a problem with the radiator and needed replacement. I towed it to X and the communication with Ben was clear and concise with pricing before the job started. I compared pricing with the dealership, in addition to other recommendations on Nextdoor, and found X to be more reasonably priced. The cost was important to me because this is the first time I have ever owned a vehicle with 165,000 miles. It was either I find a good, honest, reliable mechanic and keep the car I LOVED or sell it and buy something newer. So happy I found Xpertech! Now, I have high hopes for my car!. So a month after my radiator replacement, it was time for a major maintenance. I needed the timing belt and water pump changed, along with transmission drain/fill, oil change, 3 old belts replaced, engine filter, etc. Kevin and his team completed the job in in a very timely fashion, around 6 hours and, again, at a great price! I dropped it off the night before my appointment and it was ready by 1:15 the next afternoon! Keep up the good work Xpertech!

Stop looking elsewhere. My friends have used this place several times, and I've used them once. I do almost all my own repair, as well as repair my friends' vehicles. When the repair is beyond my capabilities this is the ONLY shop i can recommend, 100% of the time, without exception. They are always busy, and for good reason! I am from out of town and came to this area to buy a car, I wanted an independent mechanic shop to look it over before the purchase, so I took it to them based on their good reviews. After years of struggling to find a mechanic that I could trust I found Xpertech! Kevin is a one of those car whisperers who can really figure out what is wrong with a vehicle. Those kind of mechanics are very hard to find. You can also trust that the work being done in his shop, whether by him or one of his technicians, is going to be done right. The price charged is fair and I always get a call with a detailed estimate for me to approve before any work is done. The price quoted is the price paid. I have never been surprised by hundreds extra added after the work is done. Did I mention that I get a call from their staff? They always call me back to give me the diagnosis and they always call me when the vehicle is done. Do you know how great that is? I don't have to worry that they have forgotten about my vehicle nor do I have to pester their already busy staff. You will have to schedule an appointment to have major work done on your car and it may be two weeks before they have an opening, but once you drop your car off they almost always have the work done a little sooner than they estimate. I've never had to wait days on end for the car to be fixed. I can trust this place to do what they say they are going to do, when they say they are going to do it! That is worth a lot to me and I highly recommend them to others.

While traveling from ATL to Asheville our truck started to overheat. We called around town to find a reliable repair shop and didn't feel confident in our findings. We then asked the locals where they take their vehicles for repairs and hands down it was Xpertech. We took a chance. This team is very professional and went out of their way to get our truck into the scheduling and diagnosed our repair. We agreed on the findings and was happy with the repair and cost of everything. We were driving from SC to Pittsburgh after a family holiday, when my husband's truck started to throw codes and lose power. After shutting it off and starting it numerous times we were able to limp it into the Asheville Ford dealership. Ford told us that it would be a week+ before they could get it in and wouldn't even hook it up to their handheld diagnostics to let us know what the codes were until then. The only good thing they did for us was tell us we could try Xpertech and that proved to be the best experience either my husband or I remember having with a car repair. We limped the truck over to Xpertech, again having to pull over and shut it down often, and upon arrival they diagnosed it within 5 mins as a throttle body issue. They ordered the part for us and to get our family back on the road ASAP, one of their service managers drove to Ford to pick it up to save time waiting on it to be delivered. While this occurred, the owner drove us and our small children to a coffee shop to wait for the repair to be completed. 2 hrs later, a tech picked us up at the coffee shop while he was doing a test drive on our repaired truck. We can't say enough good things about Xpertech and the amazing people who work there!

Xpertec put new pads and rotors on last week as well as a 60000 mile service. While driving home I though I felt a pulsing type feeling in the brake pedal. After giving it a few days I asked Kevin to take a look at it. The rotors were out of round (I'm not a mechanic but I think that describes it) and even after several days had not been broken in. I have been going to Xpertech since they moved to Asheville many years ago. I stopped in for an oil change and was the only person at the shop at the time-no parking issues. Kevin changed the oil, and apparently checked everything he could see, including belts and washer fluid in about 20 minutes. He told me that everything was fine but in about 6 months I would need brake work and told me how much it would cost. 6 months later the price was what he previously quoted. I left after that first oil change feeling confident that my car was safe and well cared for. Many years of oil changes and repairs-major and minor-later, I have the same opinion. Kevin has always been mindful that I have no other car and live alone and that I also used my car for work until the last few years. He has kept the 2 old Subarus I have had running way past my expectations. Nobody does better or more reasonable work. Do I have to wait for an appointment? Yes. is there ever enough parking? No. But do you know anywhere else that customers sit in the waiting room and talk about how good the work and the service is? I doubt it. And would I ever take my car to anyone but Kevin? Absolutely not. And for the record, I have never found Kevin to be anything other than courteous to customers. He does not sugarcoat problems and is not much for small talk, but he has always been very nice to me.

Best car care shop in Asheville. I have spent time in the waiting room on numerous occasions, and I'm always impressed by the personal and honest touch the mechanics give to each customer. They will tell you if something needs to be done immediately, in a couple months, or in so many thousand miles, and you can trust them to give you fair market prices for all parts and services. They have won Best of WNC awards multiple times. In May 2017 I had to take my car to Firestone for some engine trouble, and Firestone charged me $140 for an ignition coil ($80 at Xpertech) and $30 for a spark plug ($11 at Xpertech). In June 2018 my car broke down and I had AAA tow it to Xpertech on a Sunday. They opened at 8am Monday, and when I called at 8:10, they had already looked at it and had an estimate prepared. The work was done by 10:30! (Replaced alternator and drive belt, oil change.)

They NEVER do unnecessary work, and no B.S.! Plan accordingly, as they are often a week or more out for appointments. HOWEVER, I've found myself in a bind, and was able to drop it off overnight (I think they only do this if you talk to them first, and they are able). There is a reason they are so busy. Kevin is the best mechanic in the western end of the state and he is honest to a fault. I have been going to him for 20 years and I have never once felt like I was being taken for a ride. I once had a Dodge Colt and it would die at random times. Completely die. On interstate or in a parking lot. I took it to Kevin and he kept it a day or two and told me that he wasn’t 100% sure what the problem was, but that he thought it was a small capacitor in the cars computer. He told me the he had pulled the computer and that instead of paying $100’s of dollars for a new computer for me to take it to the guy on Haywood who fixes guitar amps because he believed thought the guy could fix it. The guitar guy charged me $10, I took the computer back to Kevin, he put it back in the car, and didn’t charge me a dime. I tried to pay him something but he flat refused. That’s the type of guy Kevin is.

Reliable and honest. if you want white glove service this is not your place, you will get an honest opinion and good work, done in a timely manner. if the receptionist seems annoyed with you, then it is your fault for droning on and on about the check engine light on your 82 Vega that you paid 1500 for 10 years ago. Meanwhile Kevin has been keeping that blender on the road for the past three years since you don't have a budget and he has to scour every used parts house east of the MS. whenever anyone has an obscure problem with their car, xpertech is the place. it may take a little trial and error but they wont intentionally do something you dont need and they are always upfront. if you are a dick then guess how you will be treated. after all if you had money to blow you would have bought a newer better Vega straight from the dealership that came with a warranty.

Xpertech/Kevin is literally the best mechanic in Asheville. I drive a 2007 Audi A6 (awful car to maintain) I have a V8 engine so EVERYTHING is super expensive. Because my car is German and its 10 years old...EVERYTHING is messing up. I am back and fourth between here and Atlanta and everywhere I went in ATL wanted to charge me $1200+ to fix everything...Xpertech got me out the door for $600 and Becca is AWESOME! She always breaks everything down for me, tells me what I need and don't need, helps me save money whenever possible. Honest people, honest prices! So I was at Aldi's the other night (mind you, my household only has 1 car working at the moment due to my boyfriend's being totalled last week), and when I was done shopping my car wouldn't move. I was so upset had to get my car towed to xpert tech bc my mom has said many good things about them. So we we're within the 3 mile/free towing radius dropped my car off and waited til the next day so I could talk to them. Even before 8 am, I received a text saying they took my car in and to call them. I was able to get a profile set up for my car over the phone and they told me they were gonna try and diagnosis and call me later. My mom went by after work and talked to Kevin, he explained a simple fix, explained what we could do and released the car without any charge. The brake work was flawless, but a tiny piece of the center console was damaged during the process, which unfortunately required the entire center console to need to be replaced. I came to Kevin at Xpertech after months (and thousands of dollars' worth) of terrible experiences with two other local mechanics. My old Volvo is pushing 200k miles and I rely on it completely for my work as a touring musician. I was very hesitant to trust any mechanic after what I'd been dealing with from these other guys, but Xpertech came very highly recommended by a few East Asheville friends. Kevin has taken great care of me and my car. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty in fixing major, dangerous errors by the other guys (reattaching a wheel they'd not tightened properly, which was about to fall off; replacing a plug that had not been properly put back after the timing belt was changed, resulting in a major oil leak) for no charge. Always quick, informative and thorough. They don't do things that aren't necessary, their whole approach is that they are there to run and build a business, they don't have the time or energy to scam or overcharge people.. Someone said they're expensive, I disagree. I think they are a very fair price for the pricey Asheville town, if you want cheap labor go out of town but if you need or want to stay in town with a mechanic who is 100% trustworthy, then go to them. I bought an 89 Celica that was in fantastic shape, but needed the 60,000 mile maintenance done including internal belt replaced; I had this shop recommended to me by two people I trust, but I called around for estimates on this job. Not only did Beka quote me a price lower than anyone, she told me about the whole process and why the water pump etc would be changed too without any shred of commitment from me (that nobody else took the time to do). So I took it there, it is a difficult car to find parts for but they did, I got calls every day as to the status and they never promised me any pickup date as the parts were coming in from out of the country. As I was standing there in the office after their initial look at the car, Beka and Kevin were talking to me going over the very very extensive list and every other item, Kevin discounted or gave to me for free. They literally saved me about $1,000 when I really needed it (and I'm not a high rolling cust either). They have saved me so many times after that and are always willing to give free advice and look at an issue no matter how busy they are. (And they stay busy constantly) Namaste.

I don't usually write reviews for businesses, but I feel that Xpertech really deserves this. I've never dealt with a car shop that I trust and is as good as Xpertech is. They have repeatedly exceeded my expectations with their quality of work, their attention to detail, their patience in explaining why they are doing what they are doing, and their prices. I wish I had been going there all along because they would have saved me so many headaches and so much money. First time I went there was just for a simple transmission fluid change. I couldn't find anywhere else in Asheville that would actually drain and refill 3 times (the proper way) and use genuine Honda fluid. Xpertech seemed to be the only shop that was concerned with using the genuine fluid and doing the procedure properly. Not only that, but their price blew everyone elses' out of the water. I couldn't even purchase the trans fluid online for the price I paid for the fluid and labor at Xpertech. I think it was around $90. Next time I went was for an idler pulley bolt on my AC belt that had broken. I had my car worked on at another shop right before that happened and was suspicious that they had cross threaded the bolt and messed it up. Xpertech called that shop and convinced them to cover the cost of the repair, basically giving them evidence that it was their fault. I thought that was awesome. Lastly and most importantly, Xpertech literally saved me from financial ruin when I purchased a used car with a bad transmission. It was a nightmare at first. It drove great on the test ride, then literally a week later it would have these shaking fits at certain shifting points. It got really bad. The car was only worth like 4k and I did not want to pour much more money into it. I went to multiple transmission shops around Asheville and was given these haphazard half a$^ed quotes where they said stuff like, "well we don't really know how much it will cost to fix. It could be anywhere from 2k to 4k to rebuild it and we can't tell you how much it will be until you pay us $500 to open the transmission". Finances were looking grim. None of these shops really seemed to care and they would barely ever answer my questions as if I wasn't dealing with a major issue. It was really frustrating. Then I called Xpertech. I forget the name of the lady I talked to. She basically evaluated the whole situation, the value of the car and what I was dealing with. She layed out a ton of options for me. I could get the tranny rebuilt, I could replace it with a rebuilt or re-manufactured one or I could replace it with a used one. I was a little wary about the used tranny idea, but she explained that they come with a 90 day warrany and they would cover the cost of installation and removal of the tranny if something went wrong or if I wasn't satisfied. That made me feel a lot better. It was pretty much a no risk situation. She shopped around and found a transmission that had 50k miles on it and cost like $800. We set up an appointment and they swapped the new one into my car in one day. The labor cost for removal of my old tranny and replacement with the new one and, 9 quarts of new genuine toyota fluid cost about the same that Mr. Transmission wanted to charge me to just remove my old tranny. Labor was $600. Like what the heck, how do they do this?? That is a huge procedure that involves moving and removing lots of pieces. Then when I went to pay (like $1500) with tax, the lady at the front desk was knocking charges off my bill for some pieces and parts. I'm not really sure why, but I was blown away because I felt like I should owe them so much more. Now 5 months later my car is still running like a charm. I'm so happy I found Xpertech. I hope their business is doing well and will expand. Much love to all ya'll at Xpertech. Thanks for all the help, if it wasn't for you I'd probably be in the gutter right now. =]

They say you are really the person that does the right thing when no one else is watching. An elderly woman came in with a "check engine light" that had just come on while she was out driving. She was obviously upset and distraught. Kevin pickup up on all this and had her car in a bay in less than 10 minutes. This is a guy with a heart, compassion and excellent multi-tasking management skills. If this was your mother or grandmother would you like her treated with any less respect than this? No, Kevin (the owner) is probably not going to win the WNC warmest, fuzziest squeezy bear award. BUT, he will do what is right, what is fair and treat you in an honest manner. What more could you ask for?

Outstanding. If I lived in Asheville, this would be my shop. I lost an alternator while passing through Asheville. Found this place from G+. Great service, excellent work, low cost. They put me on top of the list and I was back on the road in a couple of hours. Alternator replaced and root cause repaired. While I was there I had the opportunity to observe 10 or 15 cases of excellent service, expert advice, and satisfied customers. All the folks that came in the store clearly wanted to have their cars fixed by Kevin and his team. The folks at xpertech don't just do great work for a reasonable price. When there is a problem with the repair, they go above and beyond what is necessary and fair. My car's cooling system was damaged by another local shop (Sam's Radiator Service), and when xpertech worked on it, they didn't catch the damage right away. As a result, my car overheated within a few miles after having the thermostat replaced on Christmas Eve day. Without my requesting it, xpertech sent a technician to me, stranded on the roadside, and removed the thermostat. After my holiday trip, I brought the car back to xpertech. It took them four hours to figure out what was broken, they had to order the part from Gastonia, and guess what they charged me for repairing the damage done by Sam's Radiator service? Nothing! I couldn't even convince them to let me pay for the part, even though it was totally not their responsibility. The health of my car is very important to me. I'm happy to share my wife's car for a few days until I can get in to xpertech rather than take my car to someone else who hasn't earned the level of trust I feel with them. Xpertech rules!
