I was very impressed with Jason and the Metro team. They Winterized my van and replaced the water pump. Jason kept me well informed during the service. He was extremely helpful and friendly. My one and only issue was that it took over a month to get my van in the shop. I know they did their best and it was probably due to short staffing. I’m sure winter is a very busy time for them. All in all, I’m very impressed with the service and I would use them again.

They always send me a report with details on what needs to be fixed now, what needs to be watched but can wait a bit, and what is good. I choose what to fix and they send me a quote. Have been taking vehicles to Metro for 4 years. Never a bad experience. Knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, professional and won’t fix something that doesn’t need it. The folks at Metro have been there for me every time! I had them check my winterization heaters and it turns out the block heater had been installed incorrectly by another party and created a small fire! They installed the new heater while my baby and waited. The service was attentive and quick.

Metro as always is wonderful. The lockbox is very convenient for those who work during their business hours. Allowing you to pick up your vehicle at your convenience after you have paid. Had to get my water pump and tie rods done. I knew about the water pump, but not the other items. Truck is getting old. The water pump was previously replaced at another shop in town about 5 years ago. In terms of price they are comparable to other shops around town, but do better quality.

1. Shortly after Metropolitan called me to tell me my car was ready, I realized I wouldn't be able to pick it up for several hours. I called back and asked if they could plug it in for me (although it wasn't very cold, my elderly car is abnormally sensitive to low temperatures) and the man who answered the phone was kind enough to do so. 2. My car had been at Metropolitan about a month earlier, and I had left it plugged in when I dropped it off. The extension cord I used to plug the car in at that time had a battered old adapter attached to it with a tiny lamp that showed if electrical power was flowing through the cord; this lamp protected me from leaving the cord plugged into a dead electrical outlet. When I picked up the car a month ago, I noticed the adapter had disappeared. I assumed it had gotten lost somehow and said nothing about it. In the present, a month later, when I picked up my car after the follow-up visit, the adapter had silently reappeared at the end of my extension cord. Someone had found the adapter, identified it as mine, and kept it safe for a month so that they could quietly return it to me.

I have always felt that they provide the most unbiased recommendations as to what actually needs fixing on our vehicle and whether we could safely save some money by postponing a cosmetic repair. This is my favorite auto shop by far.

I requested a brake fluid change and coolant change; they let me know my brake fluid was within specifications. I had them do it anyways as I have a lot of miles on my Honda. They asked if my timing belt had ever been changed; I said no. They gave me an estimate to do the timing belt and replace the water pump and I had them do that because of the high mileage; the total cost came under the estimate. While doing my brake fluid they checked my brake pads and let me know they did not need to be changed at this time but it may need to be done after a bit. I appreciate their thoroughness and honesty. I will be back again!

I've been a customer at metropolitan several times over the last couple years, and have always been happy with their business. Unfortunately today, I came to pick up my car and it was not plugged in, and wouldn't start due to sitting outside overnight at -30F. I notified them that I wouldn't be able to pick it up until today, and don't think I would need to remind a car repair company to plug it in for me. Left me feeling disappointed, and a little frustrated that I would have to spend more time coordinating another ride and take more time out of my day to deal with this situation that could have easily been remedied.

They also have a wonderful online system to share with you exactly what they found on your car and what priorities each problem is. As a DIYer normally, this was valuable information for me. They also got my transfer case completely rebuilt in one day, at the lowest price I could have possibly expected.

This is the only place in Fairbanks I trust with my Suzuki SX4, and my husband’s Honda CRV. They have a lot of expertise, integrity and professionalism that I haven’t observed elsewhere. Whenever there is a repair needed, they include before and after images so you can see that there was, in fact, a problem, and the new part installed or improvement after the repair. Parts for my Suzuki are sometimes difficult to find because the manufacturer doesn’t make cars anymore, but Metro went out of their way to track down a reliable supplier - all the way to Japan! They might be a bit more expensive than some other places sometimes (not always), but to me it’s worth it to know I’m not being jerked around and that the work is done right. They are also just pleasant people to deal with. We are military, and so have gone to many mechanics in many different cities/states, but this is the only one I would recommend.

Metro was awesome, despite being super busy during the tire change out season. They even got an oil change done for me when I asked if they could do it last minute. Super helpful staff willing to talk through inspection details, and they got my vehicle done a little earlier in the work day so I wouldn’t have to be without a car. The work they do is always outstanding!! I have no idea which of the 47 services they did, and I don't want to take the time to find out. I don't want to take any more than an hour or so trying to figure out websites. This business like most businesses in Fairbanks doesn't always answer the phone or email. It is best to visit in person.

What a place! I feel so lucky to be able to bring my car to such a professional and trusted shop. On top of their more than sufficient communication, they're on the look-out for things that really need to be serviced. I have had my car serviced a number of times over the years, but apparently my cabin air filter was an atrocity, a downright health hazard of dust and mold they found. They were able to replace this for me as well as a headlight that had gone out just the day before my brake pad/oil change appointment. The service was efficient and competitively priced. Would recommend!! NEW UPDATE: Had my vehicle towed here recently. The first time I’ve had troubles with more than the battery so I was extra concerned. Metro got me in and got me tuned up all before the weekend. They are conservative with their scheduling and managed so tune up every little thing I needed in no time at all. Love this place!!

Fantastic service center. I needed a last minute repair after finding a small transmission leak and they we were able to work my car in next day. The service tech was able to make repairs so I would be able to make my scheduled drive. They even offered to try to work me in the following day to make sure the repair held. Grateful for an honest shop that can be trusted.

Once again, Metropolitan Garage has met and exceeded my expectations! It has been extremely cold (-25 down to -29) in Fairbanks, Alaska area. My 2005 Doge Ram 1500 had massive issues on interior defrosting/heating as well as, shorting out the outlet every time I’d try to plug in for engine block/oil pan and radiator heating. Along with those problems I was loosing a gallon of coolant every couple days. What a big headache especially during these frigid temperatures. The mechanics at Metropolitan are top notch at finding and repairing my trucks’ problems. Right on point. Professional and quick! Fantastic service! A bit spendy, perhaps, but 100% worth it because I have always gotten my vehicle back the same day… not days later. Cudoos to the staff and manager of this establishment! I have yet to regret bringing my only mode of transportation to Metropolitan Garage for repairs!

VERY fast turnaround and surprisingly reasonable cost given the level of service I received. Highly recommended, although plan ahead as they are scheduled out pretty far. I took my car here for the first time in February of 2020 for something that needed to be fixed right away, and my dad couldn't do it (I don't remember what was fixed now). They were very easy to work with and i was able to get in soon and it took just a day. I was able to pick up my car after hours and pay on the phone. They worked around my schedule perfectly! After that experience I took my car in for a full diagnostic at Metropolitan Garage before selling it to my sister. They worked up a full report with all the information I needed to know. Including pictures! For someone who knows extremely little about cars, this was a god send. I was able to look at it myself and see what things needed to be prioritized and what could wait a bit. I called with any questions I had and Abby was nice and thorough. I was able to make another appointment to get things fixed and also within my time frame! I have a 2005 Subaru, and they've treated her perfectly through the whole process. Not once did I feel like they were pressuring me to get anything fixed. I honestly cannot recommend Metropolitan Garage enough! Thank you!

I definitely recommend them. This last time, I spoke with Forrest after they worked on my car and diagnosed the numerous problems. There was no hesitation when I asked if some of the problems could be fixed by myself. He even recommended a couple auto parts stores that would probably have the parts and tools I might need. The first time I dropped my car off here in an emergency they accidentally went overtime on their diagnostics. Usually, they check-in with the owners before throwing too much time and therefore money into diagnostics, but they lost track of time. Rather than charge me for the whole time, they only charged me for the amount of time they usually spend before checking-in and asked if I'd be willing to pay for a fraction of the over-time. With that kind of honesty I didn't mind covering some more of their time.

Metropolitan Garage took my car in the day I called, despite being swamped with other jobs. Somehow, that very day, they were able to assess the issues with my vehicle and offer me several options for repairs. I ran into some mechanical problems and needed to find a shop I could bring my vehicle into as soon as possible to be checked out and fixed as I work two jobs and have a very demanding schedule. I called 9 different garages and this is the only one that really worked with me and found a way to squeeze me in the schedule to get my vehicle checked out and taken care of. They diagnosed and fixed the problems over the course of two days. They also were entirely honest about everything on my vehicle, informing me of not just what I needed fixed, but future things to look into maintenancing and consider. I highly appreciated that extra input cause a previous shop I went to a few weeks ago neglected to tell me these things when I paid them for a full inspection. The quality of work here is amazing. I was satisfied with the pricing as well, it was what was expected and not outrageous. I also have to say the two women at the front desk were the friendliest! They made going into the mechanics shop a lot less stressful. It was nice to be greeted with such positive energy from kind people. I'm very satisfied with my experience here. I've had a considerable amount of bad experiences with mechanic shops so usually the thought of dealing with one makes me anxious, this was a refreshing experience. If you ever feel like a shop you go to doesn't really care at all about the quality of work or well being of your vehicle, I highly recommend trying this place.

There are a lot of companies that do good work but very few that stand behind it especially after 2 years. After performing the work, it took 2 years for the item to break. They made it completely right even going as far as having my vehicle towed at their expense. I dare any other company to take care of their customers with that level of care.

In the past I've taken my car to the Ford dealer for service, but when I called this week about a problem that I felt was urgent, they said it would be a month for the next available appointment. Steve has, in my experience, always been reliable and efficient with his work. Metro isn't necessarily the cheapest garage, but you get what you pay for; the work is thorough and top-notch. Definitely the place to go for your Toyota. I do wish I had a little more opportunity to go over with him the details each time, but that being said, they use a fantastic system that allows them to detail each point of work, including pictures, that you can check from home and review. Metropolitan definitely has my continuing business.

The level of cleanliness, obvious care for their work, and thoroughness are far above the average for service facilities in Fairbanks. They also respond quickly to email for scheduling appointments, which is a huge convenience for me. They work fast and I'm usually able to be in and out with an oil change in the morning in less than an hour. And they embrace technology - my oil change invoice today featured a link to a digital inspection report with details of my car's inspection and service, very useful for keeping personal maintenance records.

Once again, great service. Been putting off re-sealing engine for a couple years. Finally bit the bullet, resealing a Subaru engine isn’t cheap but compared to a new or even a used car the economics work out. Trusted Metro to do this work right. Onward to the next 200k miles! Metro kept their staff and their customers safety in mind by providing a completely social distance experience. Keys dropped in an envelope, bill paid over the phone, keys and receipt left in the car for you. An extremely detailed report was provided with pictures included and recommended future repairs. They answered all of my questions and provided a full oil change and filter, including a top off of fluids and a complete inspection for a very reasonable price. WILL DO BUSINESS WITH AGAIN! 🙂

Fantastic shop! I really like texts they send telling you the progress of your vehicle. The final bill contains not only a detailed explanation but also images of the repairs made. This is the only place in town I will take my vehicles. Believe the hype, these guys truly are professional, honest, and reasonable. They are the first mechanic shop I’ve had tell me all the problems my old vehicles have that aren’t worth fixing! They also take very good care fixing the things that are important. The car engine warning light was on in our Nissan Altima. Also, some noises and burning smell were on tire, so we went to this place to check the problems. We are foreigners and worried about excessive maintenance because we were not good at English, but the staffs were really really kind and seemd to repair only the essential parts. The price was really reasonable, too. If there is a problem with the car again next time, I will definitely visit here!!

After unexpected car trouble on what was supposed to be a day trip from Denali to Fairbanks, Metropolitan Garage did everything in their power to diagnose and get to work on my vehicle right away. An unexpected full engine repair isn't something anyone wants to deal with or pay for, but these folks went above and beyond to find all the issues, let me know what was essential in regards to repair, and complete the extensive work SO quickly. Great service, great communication. They actually turn down work on your vehicle (meaning they are honest). They have installed a rebuilt transmission and fixed a cylinder misfiring on my truck. So I love metro garage, they have been great each visit. ONLY REASON I gave a 4 star is that after $4,000+ of work my car completly shut down just hours later. Turns out a alternator wire was loose. We dropped the car off and the following morning they were extremely apoligetic and helpful. As compensation I got a free oil change and the wire fix was free of course. While i appreciate all of the effort I do feel a little off put by just a free oil change for something that could have killed my family and I. BUT I respect their help and honesty 100%!!

I always appreciate the efficiency and professionalism of the staff at Metro Garage. I brought my car in for replacement of dirty brake and transmission fluids, and for the installation of a heater for the transmission. They let me know that these maintenance needs were needed, but not critically, when I brought my car in for its annual pre-winter checkup in October. I appreciate their thoroughness in vehicle assessment, and trust them to let me know when items need to be dealt with immediately, or can wait. Once they knew that I would have to wait for the car as I didn't have any options of somewhere else to hang out, they worked to get the car done as quickly as possible, given the other vehicles they were also working on that day. They're the reason my almost 16 year old Subaru is running great still!
