Brien Galbraith was recommended by my former divorce attorney, who had retired. I ended up wishing I'd used him from day one. My only reservation about recommending Brien is that his charges, in conjunction with the charges for his paralegal, Josh, made getting closure on my post-secondary education issue an expensive process. However, I never felt the bills were inflated. For the money I got a lawyer who listened to me, worked with my somewhat quirky style and temperament, played a very effective devil's advocate role, and got me exactly what I wanted legally. In truth, he got me more than I expected by challenging me on items I was willing to let go when in fact I had every right to pursue them . What I especially liked is that Brien would allow me to draft documents that he would then clarify or tactfully say "that's legally stupid, don't go there". All interactions were timely and accurate in detail. Calls and emails were promptly responded to. Challenges in my case were that my ex is an attorney and that a military pension and related benefits were involved. Brien admitted he was not particularly familiar with either area, but he did his homework, utilized my knowledge and resources, found the necessary answers and formulated a plan of action I felt was better than some of the self-described experts I'd considered using. The end result was a win/win/win. My ex didn't get cheated out of anything, I got true closure to a long nasty divorce situation, and most importantly my daughter got what she needed and deserved in the way of post-secondary support. In my book, that rates 5 stars for Brien, and I'd give the same to Josh.

I found Brian Edwards through a friend. I originally spoke to Brian as I was contemplating divorce, but within two weeks had to call him back to ask him to file my dissolution the same day. It was an exceptionally emotional day and he was kind and efficient in meeting my needs. My dissolution lasted 13 months and was a high conflict matter. I felt that I got what I paid for. Brian was always prepared. He was knowledgeable and a straight shooter (honest, but kind). He kept me apprised of my case and answered my questions timely. He seems to have a great reputation with the commissioners/judges. I am an attorney myself (in another area of law) and still found the whole matter incredibly stressful. Loved my experience with all of the staff at McKinley Irvin. I worked with Kim Schnuelle and her assistant, Josh. A divorce is an incredibly stressful experience under even the gentlest of circumstances -- mine was one of those rare cases -- and I was so impressed by the equanimity and professionalism with which Kim handles the challenging emotions that can come up in the process of navigating a divorce. Her communication, follow-up and follow-through were first rate, as was Josh's communication to fill in any gaps as my husband and I worked out the details of our settlement agreement. We had zero interest in taking anything into litigation, and Kim helped us reach an agreement that worked for both parties so we could avoid fees beyond what either of us could afford. I have often said attorneys are like fax machines, don't often need them but when you do your sure glad you have one. I have used McKinley & Irvin for some very personal family law needs. I was successful EVERY time, its not my opinion that anyone really wins in these situations(the darker side of my ego says thanks for winning every time) but Kim and the Law firm represented me in such a professional, caring way, providing me with clarity, insight to the law and made me feel I was not alone in these always trying times. I could write a novel on why I am so grateful for Brent and Candice!! I maybe read three or four lines of Brent's bio and I immediately set up a time to meet. I had a gut feeling he was going to be the lawyer I needed to take on my divorce with me. I came to McKinley Irvin as a broken man and father who wasn’t sure of what legal motion I just signed. I was led to believe that my marriage situation was going to be fine, that it would all work out after we went and found ourselves and that separation was just temporary. I agreed to a fresh start and a move across the country so we could be a family. I went to marriage counseling by myself. I attended addiction counseling for the alcohol I once consumed. I signed separation papers hearing that it is just temporary and that we were healing as a family. I saw my son everyday and life was looking brighter and brighter. I was happy and I thought everything was working out and then two weeks after I signed a final separation order I was told that it is over and that someone wanted a divorce. I was floored and scared and wondering what happened and what did I sign. I read through all of the motions and orders and from what I understood I had just signed my life, my marriage and my son away. Our final order converted our separation into divorce after six months. I had no custody rights for my son and only visitation per permission. I knew I needed legal help and I hoped and prayed I could do something. I was not a bad person or husband or father. I was getting help on my own and there was no history of any wrong doing whatsoever in my marriage, it hurt and I was confused. After researching multiple law firms and setting up a consultation with an attorney at McKinley Irvin I met Brien Galbraith. He poured through my stacks of motions and orders and we discussed that it didn’t look good at all for me. I shared my story and testimony and he looked at me and told me he believed in me and that we would work together to do everything we could to make things fair. All I wanted was to have joint custody of my son and clear all of the wrong that was documented with the court. Brien and his awesome paralegal Josh Dawson worked with me for more than a year and a half. We knew it was an uphill battle and all of the data and statistics were stacked against me. Jennifer and her team did an excellent job on my case. It was a very complicated case that required much time. Jennifer had been recommended to me by a friend. After reviewing her and the firm, I determined that it would be too expensive to go with her. I went to another attorney first, that wasn't getting me anywhere so I went to another and another! My case was handled by Brien Galbraith in the Seattle office of McKinley Irvin, with the very able assistance of his paralegal Joshua Dawson. The case has reached what may turn out to be a temporary conclusion. I have withdrawn my petition entirely of my own volition out of concern for the other party. It is very possible that I may reopen it in a few months as other events transpire, and I have every intention of continuing my relationship with Brien Galbraith in that event. My earliest contact with the firm was one of friendly professionalism; this extended to friendly and courteous reception staff, and the delightful lady who looks after the firms accounts, and continued always in this vein. Billing and fees were handled with professionalism and courtesy, and I regard as entirely reasonable in terms of work done and services rendered. Both Brien Galbraith and Joshua Dawson were good humored, compassionate and professional and always seemed available. In particular, my case involves necessary access to relationship details and health records of a very personal nature, and these details were handled at all times with delicacy and understanding. At the beginning of my contact with Brien Galbraith, full details of my health issues were still being uncovered, and I was just beginning a treatment of medication which took some months to settle, Brien Galbraith handled this with great understanding, and his advice I have found always to be very sound and most insightful. In summary, I am more than happy with the service that I have received from McKinley Irvin and Brien Galbraith. I hired Jennifer when I realized my ex was an out of control narcissistic lying Pro Se who would stop at nothing to crush me financially and emotionally. I needed a tough and experienced attorney who could defend my interests. Jennifer was just perfect. She caught on with every little detail of my case early on and never stopped to amaze me. She is the right mix of tough and compassionate and was simply magnificent in court, with so much ease and poise. I did not always listened to her or liked what she had to tell me, but I realized early on that she was very realistic with potential outcomes, knowledgeable, very bright and relentless in her pursuit of justice for her clients. She was always right on. I was an emotional wreck during my 15 months ordeal, but Jennifer always sorted through feelings and facts gently and had my best interest at heart. She was available via email during business hours, but also at night and in weekends. Her team Kristina, Jessica and John were just wonderful to work with. My case got complicated with a bankruptcy filed by my ex, Jennifer never skipped a beat and was able to use it to my advantage. We went through numerous motions and hearings and even though there is never a real winner or loser in a divorce, Jennifer won every battle for me. The finale will always be unforgettable to me: After Jennifer finished a magnificent presentation while digging deep into the complex laws of bankruptcy, the judge scolded my ex, attacked his credibility, threatened him of sanctions and awarded me the house he had been trying to steal from me for years. This was just priceless. I ended up settling my case a week before trial due to financial reasons, but there is no doubt in my mind, that had I gone to trial, Jennifer would have won that last battle for me and the ex would have got what he deserved. I was in great hands through this painful process and would definitely recommend Jennifer and her team to anyone finding themselves in a highly contested divorce. She is simply the best. The downside is that her firm is very expensive, I did cringe at the 6 figures I had to spend, but I really got what I paid for, the best representation. She gave me my life back.

I am very lucky to have found Blake Hilty from McKinley Irvin. He is very professional but what impressed me the most was his ability to quickly recognize the issues and work to find constructive and practical solution to solve them. He worked very hard to get me the desired and reasonable outcome as permitted under the law without generating unnecessary legal fees. I could trust Blake for his good advice. He keeps up to date with changes in family law and studies the case in depth and most importantly uses the LEGAL LEVERAGE to build the case rather than using false accusations or raising petty issues to win a case. I see the the below reviews and all I can say is you get what you pay for. I hired a attorney for a modification and payed a cheap price. All that attorney did was give my ex what he wanted and gatherd his info from m ex's attorney( made me look and feel dumb in court). I fired that attorney, and hired Mr. Hilty and his firm treated me great! I am the average person ( i.e. I don't know the fancy court terms), Mr. Hilty explained everything to me. All my questions explained, my worries are put to rest as best as they could be. They also got everything resolved quickly as my ex- dragged everything out as long as he could.

My father retained the services of Susan Shulenberger when his wife emptied bank accounts while he was visiting his family in NJ. He decided to file for divorce because they had always kept their finances separate. The law regarding their assets was clear, since they were both in a second marriage and they chose to keep their finances separate. Susan first made her return the money to a trust account and then weathered three different lawyers (his wife fired the first two because they understood the law). The third lawyer attempted to accuse my father of being incompetent, he is in his 80's, but had no evidence to support the claim. They also tried to delay the case several times, likely hoping he would pass away before the divorce was final. Thankfully Susan persevered through all the legal BS her attorney sent our way and eventually got them to settle (for far less than she was gunning for). It was a difficult experience for our family, but Susan was steady and effective through the long process. She knows the law and was able to hold off the kind of lawyer that gives attorneys in general a bad name. Thanks Susan!
