My family and I faced a difficult custody case. Our last attorney did not want to go to court. We decided to work with Mazaheri to help us get the issue resolved. We are so glad we are with Mazaheri. We have been treated with nothing but respect and compassion. We were almost going to lay down and go with what we thought our fate would be with our child; but Ann Zachariah told us to never lose faith and hope to fight for our rights. We felt heard and we felt seen FINALLY!!!! She showed us nothing but compassion and care. We were represented by Ty Smith who also displayed the same kind of care and compassion with our case. Sanjani “Ann” Zachariah is an amazing attorney and I recommend her to anyone who is dealing with custody or anything else she specializes in because she is probably the best attorney in the state. She’s fearless and means business. She works hard and truly cares and wants the best on top of being an amazing attorney. I have her to thank for being able to have my son now. I cannot express my appreciation and gratitude enough. I don’t think I’ll ever have the right words to describe how amazing she is for what she did for me, my son, and my case. My son and I have never been better and I know it wouldn’t be if it hadn’t been for Sanjani. She took my guardianship case with less than a month for us to prepare for the first court date. I know she worked late/extra hours for my case and she really went the extra mile for me for both court dates. She truly cared about me and my case through the whole process which was very reassuring during the most stressful three months of my life. Despite the time crunch she worked hard to make sure we were prepared at that first court date and the second one. So prepared she made the other attorney look like it was his first day in court. You should’ve seen him sweat when she handed him our huge stack of evidence. And her rebuttals were amazing. My favorite being the opposing attorney arguing me moving away would take my child from everyone he knows and loves and Sanjani stops him mid sentence and says “What?? You want her to live within a certain radius??” And he was just about speechless after that. She didn’t have to say or do much to make it known to the opposing side they didn’t have a leg to stand on. The opposing attorney got to go first when the judge came in and from the first second he was floundering, stuttering, tripping over his words. He knew his arguments were weak and Sanjani made sure everyone else knew too when she had her turn to speak. She’s fearless and dedicated. I know she worked hard and after hours on my case. I know she truly cared and wanted the right thing. She was upfront and honest with me, which kept me in line. The frivolous temporary guardianship was terminated within three months. The opposing attorney was offering to settle before the three months was even up and we had the second court date. If the other attorneys at this firm are even half as good as Sanjani then they must be pretty great too because Sanjani has set a very high bar. If I ever need another attorney, I’ll be coming to this firm first. If I could have Sanjani for all my legal problems I would but I know she can’t specialize in every legal matter even if she is the best attorney in the state.

UPDATED REVIEW: For the most part, I had a good experience with Mazaheri Law firm. Jillian Mershon Atty was my lawyer and I felt that she worked very hard for me and was fair throughout most of the process. I learned much about the inner legal construction of my case from her and she was able to negotiate a settlement that I felt was just “fair”. However, communication could have been clearer. When the case was settled and when I received my check, it was drastically lower than anticipated. I then realized that they did not consider my back pay but took from it. My husband and I were told on multiple occasions by Jillian that “our money was our money” and that the settlement money is taken AFTER that amount. She never told us what our NET amount was when asked 4 times. We understood the high taxes applied ( I always overpaid taxes to 35% in order to get a nice refund ), and she blamed it on taxes but I knew better. The back pay was not protected for me by the firm as foretold. I was told by Jillian that it would be and we could not resolve that. She said that she had no control of the matter- this disappointed me. I had the feeling that she did not have the power to make it right, though.... If you have a case with these people, make sure you protect your backpay up front with them or they will consider it ALL in the settlement cost and blame it on taxes. They take from 40-50%, so this is a BIG DEAL! Also make sure that you record your conversations and have a statement that reflects protection of your backpay UP FRONT in writing. I downrated 2 stars for this reason alone- to be clear, the money issue. I would STILL highly recommend Jillian so given the prior rating, total star rating is at 4. FIRST REVIEW- As an equity and diversity lawyer fighting everyday for employee’s rights, Jillian is an amazing attorney! I was recommended to the Mazaheri law firm and Jillian was assigned to me based on her sub-specialization and area of expertise. She made a very strife- filled, unfair situation with my employer effortless as she guided me through identifying the obvious legal issues associated with my case. As a result, I learned a great deal from my case because of Jillian. Not only did Jillian help me throughout the entire process, her tenacity allowed me to acquire a fair settlement for which I will be eternally grateful to her for. The question regarding the breakdown of fees was asked by my husband several times and from her explanation we interpreted that the backpay (“your money is your money”) was protected. I will always try to express careful prudence in addressing what I experience as a client to share it with the public. I am a physician, not a lawyer and would not even begin to know how to manufacture this story in order to slander. I did sign the paperwork out of sheer fatigue, knowing that I would write this review. The learning point for me- to ensure to have the backpay protected before signing any such forms. Jillian, my husband and I had many exchanges and she is a very kind, decent, beautiful person. She guided, toiled and spiritually helped me through the whole difficult process, I could not have asked for someone better. You are lucky to have her. But, this is really only about the issue concerning the backpay and how it configures in your fees. That’s an issue to address and understand upfront. Obviously now, a conversation could be had to clarify.
