Edit: Deidra Haynes personally contacted me on a Sunday to apologize and refund my money. I’m going from one star to 3 because of this. However, I still want others to know what happened. Original post: There is an initial fee of $200 to secure an overview phone meeting or case interview and a strategy meeting. After that, it's a $5,000 retainer. I paid the $200, only had the basic info phone call that lasted 30 minutes when I found out the retainer fee and couldn't afford it. I canceled them as my lawyers and said I didn't want to proceed. I didn't even have a strategy meeting and they wouldn't refund my $200. So, I paid $200 to tell them basic information about me. The new lawyers I called gave FREE consultations with no payment and then asked for a retainer fee. I eventually hired an excellent attorney and he has advised me that one should never have to pay fees for that initial informational meeting. Strategy meeting, yes, but not just an informational meeting. In my darkest time of having to hire a lawyer and having no money, I lost $200! I'm sure they are good lawyers but beware of the initial payment. Do NOT pay unless you are sure you're going to hire them. They don't give you much to decide whether you will officially hire them or not before paying $200. I spent that money to find out I didn't want them to represent me. They are, however, very responsive. Just not to any type of refund if you don't continue after a very basic, general overview phone conversation.

I went to the Law Office of Deidra Haynes because she had good reviews and was listed as a super lawyer. I reached out July 3, 2021 for help as a single mother in need of childcare, therefore a modification. I had a consultation scheduled in which Attorney Haynes missed, but I was later able to speak with a different Attorney from the firm. The consultation was very brief. I paid the amount that was indicated. Following that, I had not heard anything about anything so I reached out to Attorney Haynes for a refund August 4, 2021 (month later). She appeared concerned, apologized and made me feel like I could trust her and the firm was in my corner. My main disappointment was LACK of communication. I went months and months without hearing anything. I would be alerted with case conferences that said I was required to attend(since I wasn’t informed, I took off from work), I asked about the case conferences, I was informed the firm would attend on my behalf. I was not informed of anything from those meetings. No updates and nothing was communicated to me. I didn’t like that if contact was made, it was done through text. Rarely any phone calls. I did not feel supported in anyway. I felt the attorney I hired was more so for the other side than for me and my children (How I felt, these are my feelings). I felt unheard, lost and alone. There appeared to be no fight left for my case or my case wasn’t as important as others. Whatever the case, this was a learning experience. Because I had not been updated on anything in over 2 months, I decided it was time to seek other attorneys and end services with the firm. No questions were asked, no updates given. I do no doubt the firm does good work. It’s just they advocate more so for FATHERS rights as indicated on the Law Office of Deirda Haynes Facebook page. If you read the reviews, in which I did not in the beginning, all of the people leaving reviews are men or girlfriends/wives of men that sought help. Please do your research throughly.

When I retained Deidra I was beyond nervous. I had continuously been told that it’s a “mothers state” and various other things that led me to believe my voice would not be heard. I have had 2 lawyers in the past working on one case. Both of them did practically nothing - they were just warm bodies. It was not until I found this attorney that something finally started to get done. My only regret is that I did not find her sooner. As for any negative comments, when you fight as well as Atty.Haynes does, you are going to make enemies - mostly out of jealousy and the fact that she kicks butt in the courtroom. You would be making a mistake to listen to the haters. Deidra Haynes is exceptional! This is the best lawyer that I seen in Indianapolis. She commands the courtroom. Lawyers in Indy tend to want to fit in, to people-please, bow down and play along to get along - even if that means the client suffers. Not this lady! She will work the Judge and get along with everyone to a degree... in other words, she does not try make unnecessary enemies... she gets along with everyone... BUT THAT STOPS IF IT MEANS HER CLIENT WILL BE HURT. She will stand up even if it means going toe to toe with the Judge and everyone in that courtroom. She is just that determined. But take note, this is not some woman up there just raising her voice and being heard... its what she says....wow.... sharp as a tack... knows her stuff... keeps the courtroom spellbound. I know Deidra Haynes Law Office handles many issues both criminal and Civil but my personal experience with her was and still is with Family Court. Tried pro se? You know the nice easy to use website the state offers that seems only to cater to the custodial parent.. Tried other lawyers ? Tried giving in to everything the other party asked for just so you could see your kids ? I’ve been there and done it ALL! I was almost to a point where I wanted to literally give up. It was a circus a nightmare . All I wanted was to see my children. Something that some may take for granted.. Let me tell you that YOU have rights more than you probably know. Deidra is aggressive , fair, and passionate about fighting for those of us, that all to often feel stripped of the basic rights we are in search of. While I don’t want say this isn’t a problem for both mothers and fathers, it’s pretty well known that it’s normally the fathers left behind without a voice to be heard . She takes a stressful situation that will have you on the edge of hopelessness and breath new life and confidence into you because you’re no linger alone in the fight anymore .
