After my denial on the reconsideration phase, I was looking for someone to help with my case onto the next phase of my claim with SSA. Diane and her team have helped me gather all of the necessary documents. I felt completely at ease talking with Diane as we prepared for my case. I found Diane and Hawaii Disability Legal Services online in 2020 and was so impressed by all the wonderful reviews her clients had shared, that I asked her to take on my disability case, which at the time, was at the Federal District court as a civil suit. My previous attorney was a nightmare. I literally met them for the first time 5 minutes before my hearing, and they knew nothing about me; the decision was unfavorable. I contacted Diane and right from the start she was supportive, positive and excited to represent me. Her first filing was so compelling that the SSA acquiesced and voluntarily remanded the case be returned for a second ALJ hearing without the need for a civil trial. I have a lot of mental health issues, and Diane and her staff were so patient, supportive and kind; they were gracious with me when I was struggling with patience and delays. My new hearing was the end of August. Diane was a consummate professional, she believed in me and was able to secure a fully favorable decision on my behalf. If you are trying to decide if Diane and Hawaii Disability Legal Services are the right firm to support you in your disability journey, question no further. In my darkest moment when I was at my lowest after having another attorney leave me because he closed his law firm and leaving me dry my mother helped me look for another law firm and came across Hawaii Disability services. From the moment, we had started talking to them getting to know who I was as well as my case and having gotten to know the law firm each and every one of them had nothing but hospitality, kind, understanding and everything that would make up the word Defense why I say this is because they not only fought for me this group of individuals made me feel as if I was one of theirs doing anything they could to defend their people. Despite the time I may have had to wait they would always call to check up on me, continue to check in with social security making sure my case was moving and not at a stand still. Diane and Her Team Are Godsends! On my journey through a rare and aggressive cancer, I've found that it's difficult to prepare to die while fighting to live. The cost of what is now a terminal illness, has been high--emotionally, physically and financially. A part of me had resigned myself to an early death without much of a struggle, but God is still in the business of miracles. One such miracle came in the form of a referral to Diane Haar's office. I researched Diane's background which is quite impressive, and I saw that she had helped so many people obtain favorable results with their Social Security Administration claims. The SSA had denied me disability income approval on two previous occasions. I became discouraged and disillusioned. My hearing date for a possible different ruling had been postponed, and I needed financial assistance as soon as possible. Having fought for disability income for over a year, and learning that my cancer had become stage 4, I needed help in expediting the approval process. Although her caseload was full, Diane heard my case, expressed sorrow and frustration regarding my previously denied claims, and told me she did not want me to slip through cracks. She advocated on my behalf as if I was her dear friend going through a crisis, not just another client. Through Diane's diligence coupled with compassion, I saw her advocacy as a reminder that I am not alone. Because of her knowledge of disability law accompanied by her skill and empathy, I was recently and swiftly approved for disability income. I can now focus on the quality of my life without the compounding stress of financial worries. I am so grateful to Diane and her team for being to me, an extension of God's hands, feet and heart.

With all the different disability assistance and emails looking very similar, I understand if someone reviews on the wrong place. Maybe it’s the frustration blocking the vision and eagerly trying very hard to get back at those that ignore us. I truly understand. It's okay though because knowing Diane professionally and personally, she will do the right thing, and get you to the right people to assist you in obtaining all the help you are entitled to. I hope whoever treated you that way is reported to agencies that can directly influence some type of actions to get that company back on track. Maybe the Better Business Bureau or the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau can provide the boot needed. I've known Diane about 3 years and not only has she helped me with my VA Disability, she has been willing to provide an ear for some of the personal troubles my family has had to endure. She always made time for that regardless of the enormous workload she has. Diane also travels to other places just so she can get to those people who cannot afford to make it to the office for appointments or are homeless sometimes putting herself in harm’s way. Diane possesses the greatest passion I have ever seen to help people get the right disabilities they are entitled to regardless of financial or personal status. My wife and I love Diane and what she stands for. We are truly amazed at what she does and we hope the best for her always. We thank God that someone like that exists in this world and we are blessed to call her our friend. I initially did my own VA disability (took 18 months in a 6-month program) and did okay with it, but they rated a lot of areas wrong and it needed to be fixed, which I didn't know how to do. When I met Diane and hired her, my appeal was done within 4 months. Her approach to helping those who are legally deserving is what we need more of. Not many, if any, people takes the risks she does, but she is a smart person, wonderful woman and she gets good results. Summarily, Diane is our angel. After having my initial application for Social Security Disability Benefits denied and having the denial upheld on reconsideration, I began my search for an attorney to take my case. The first attorney I contacted declined to take my case (she indicated that she did not have much success with cases with my condition). The second attorney was non-committal. Then I found Diane and she took my case at our first meeting. Nearly 7 years ago I was diagnosed with a debilitating condition and unable to work. I struggled for over 3 years to become a contributing member of society again, but it became abundantly clear that I would not be able to return to work. Nearly 3-1/2 years ago I applied for Social Security Disability benefits and over a year later it was denied. I requested a reconsideration and it took over another year for the denial to be upheld. At that point I was at a lost and decided to retain the services of an attorney who has experience in the Social Security Disability process. The first 2 attorneys did not work out. I then found Diane and she took my case. I felt very comfortable with Diane and she kept me apprised of the progress of my case. She prepared my case file and represented me at my appeals hearing. It has been about 3 years and 3 months since my initial application, but I just received word from Diane that she just received the judge's fully favorable decision in my case! Wonderful! If you are searching for an attorney to represent you in your Social Security Disability appeal, I recommend Diane without any reservation.

After researching lawyers representing Social Security applicants on Oahu, I kept seeing really great reviews on Diane Haar. I called her 3 years into my social security case, and about a month before the hearing. I realized that I was in no condition to go to the hearing without a lawyer. Diane was very honest with what we were facing. Together, we got all of the information necessary to present to the ALJ. She listened to all of my concerns and helped calm my fears with facts and with logical information. Diane's professionalism in her office and in front of the ALJ was admirable and honorable. We count our blessings every day for the work that Diane Haar did for my husband's VA appeal case. It took over 4 years for him to finally get a favorable decision. She knows the law inside and out and focuses on proving exactly what's needed instead of addressing non-pertinent facts. She thoroughly answered all of our questions. I checked in with her every few months, asked her many questions, kept her up-to-date with new correspondence. Never once did she discourage us from emailing her. Because my husband's file had been "lost" and misplaced several times over the years when his claims were open, we were naturally very nervous and skeptical of the VA. To alleviate our worries, Diane would send an inquiry to them every so often. The VA benefits, claims, and appeals systems are very broken, but she kept my husband's appeal moving forward and offered valuable advice when he was about to do his physical exam. We can't say enough about how lucky we were. I stumbled upon her ad in one of the Hawaii lawyers magazines. I tore it out and sat on it for a little while wondering if she would even be able to help. The situation was so frustrating. From the first meeting, she was very reassuring - never made any promises of outcome - but she was very confident that we had a real shot at the appeal and that she could help. She's the wife of a veteran, which told us that she knows how the military works and the toll it takes on its servicemen and women and families. Her fee structure is very reasonable, and we were surprised as to how much was awarded to her. I've worked in the legal field for almost 15 years and was used to inflated hourly rates so was expecting the same here. Not so. The fee arrangement was extremely reasonable and fair. My husband's life has improved tremendously with the new VA benefits. Of course, it didn't take away his pain or medical challenges, but it's become somewhat easier to deal with. I know for a fact, 100%, that it could not have been possible without Diane's advocacy for and attention to my husband's VA appeal. We're thankful everyday.

Diane Haar is an absolutely amazing attorney. She was there for me when no one else was. I was getting ready for my first social security hearing with a representative who had absolutely no interest in helping me. Right before my hearing I was sent a letter telling me that he was retiring and would not be there to represent me. When I went to the hearing alone the judge gave me some numbers and told me that by my next hearing to have representation. I struggled with this; I could not find anyone to help me. I went to the next hearing and before i was going to go in, the security asked me where my lawyer was. I explained to him that I was ready to give up and that the lawyers I called did not even bother to call me back. Diane Haar just happened to be sitting there waiting for her client to arrive and could not help but over hear our conversation. She told the security guard to let the judge know that Diane Haar will represent her. Within 15 minutes I had obtained a lawyer who started working on my case immediately. Anyone who allows a fraudulent unverified post about the most proven devoted advocate(s) of our disabled and disenfranchised citizens has simply forgotten the name on the phone number they were calling... or maybe they are just too busy guiding libel and camouflaging integrity. As a former Marine, congressional staffer, and current administrator of resources to our community's homeless and disabled veterans, I remain always faithful to the commitment of Hawaii Disability Legal Services. For nearly a decade Diane and her team have been the voice for those our government only hears when HDLS speaks. So I say to Heath Tanner, if you have any honor, admit your mistake and correct your post. Man up, or are you too busy man-scapping?... or are you too busy manipulating social media posts b/c of your guilty absence on a DD-214? Maybe you should stick with signing your name on the I-D-10-T form.
