In my experience they don’t actually come to court or even talk to you in person about family matters anyway. They just send some pre-filled papers and say good luck. The same papers you can find on Google or at the courthouse. The clerks office told me to call Pisgah legal back for information and they told me to call the courthouse. The lawyer I was a “client” of stopped returning calls and I later learned she didn’t work there anymore. I tried again recently to call for advice from a lawyer about my options with restraining orders and property laws, I didn’t even make it past the intake lady. She said she didn’t understand what was legal about my situation (restraining order????? Also I don’t want to tell the receptionist every detail) or why I needed to speak with a lawyer if I wasn’t filing immediately (for legal advice???). Overall I got very minimal help over two experiences.

It's extremally hard to get help with them if u need because they stay so busy. It's amazing these people do these things pro-bono for people and help them when they need it the most. I commend all the volunteers and specialists that help. My only issue is sometimes these issues are time sensitive and they take longer than u would like to try and solve the issue at hand. So for some instances you cannot receive the help u truly need because it's too late or they can't take the case being backed up. So...that's my only issue is time

The first attorney I was given I could hardly get ahold of them and they was very little assistance with my divorce papers. But then Mr.Phillip Carwane was transferred to my case and he was wonderful: He had a great attitude, filed out the paperwork while I gave him the info he needed Great Work!!!!

These people aren't supposed to exist. After years of thinking my expungement process for past charges was said and done for (they wernt), the Pisgah legal services group got everything in line and taken care of. I would not be looking forward to my future if it weren't for them. They worked with my situation and made me feel like a person and not a number. Will always remember this.

It's a true gift to have a resource like Pisgah Legal in our community. Because anyone could need a lawyer, but not everyone can afford representation, which means not everyone can afford access to legal rights. Pisgah helps low income people gain access to their legal rights, which (shouldn't be but is) a radical cause. They helped me out of a situation where my landlord was trying to make a retaliation eviction against me. Definitely a place to go if you need representation regarding housing rights.

I presume because they stay quite busy. However, their services are invaluable and their guidance direct and in language easily understood.

So over the years I watched these waiting on momma to die so they get all the money slum lord's take peoples trailers and the lawyers were all different and the representation and out come all the same. Losing there homes, hearts, pride, and a part of good in them that will never be back. So they lucky I gave them that.

I dunno? Suzanne was very helpful. Glad this free service is available to the public. David the head lawyer for landlord/tenant law was not very helpful. He basically told me that landlords can do WHATEVER they want and tenants are pretty much at their mercy!!!!!. Even senior citizens and the disabled are preyed upon by landlords, No problem!! Predatory rent increases. No problem!!!. Like you really have NO rights at ALL from the predatory practices of landlords. What he told me. This is coming from the head lawyer!!!!!. A lawyer who is accustomed to LOSING against landlords in court and who witnesses Landlords ABUSING the legal justice system for their own greedy ends. Every. Single. Day.. Judges are there to serve landlords, not the public, apparently? Scary as hell that we are living in such a dystopian hell in 2023. Like the Handmaidens tale....... I mean, I actually believed in the legal justice system, until now.
