Reviews of Seattle Children's Theatre
Great place to take little ones to introduce them to theater arts. The show was the right length for my 3 year old to sit and if any kids get restless there is a quiet room to escape to. The seating is great and little booster chairs are offered if kids can't see when they sit behind a tall person.
We went with our grandson and the play was great and age recommendations were appropriate and appreciate that masks are still required so those of us who may be immune compromised or cautious can still feel safe.
I got to see a number of live shows here when I taught pre-k in the area. I looked forward to our annual school trips here just as much as the kiddos did. The shows were always spectacular and just as enjoyable for adults as well as the kids. I loved it when they engaged the audience at the end of the shows— They’d play games and have Q&A sessions.
We have seen 2 plays here, and both were fabulous. They kept our children's attention throughout. We look forward to going again soon.
Our second visit here. Saw Snow White production, is amazing! The sets are incredible, actors are amazingly talented. Our 4 year old was engaged whole play. Support the arts!
Great way to introduce your kiddos to theater and big crowds. We saw "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" production and my little one was thrilled to watch the characters/animals in his books come out on stage.
The theater is cozy and seats comfortable, washrooms are clean and some sections are kiddie-height. Parking is available at lots surrounding Seattle Center.
It was an adorable show. I highly recommend for ages 9 months- 7 years.
SCT is world-class. All the auditoriums are well laid out and include a quiet viewing room if your little one gets a bit noisy. Prices are great and definitely worth an annual subscription. No assigned seats and subscribers enter early. I don't live in Seattle anymore but still maintain an annual subscription. It's that worth it!
We just visited this weekend for the touring "Don't Let The Pigeon Ride The Bus" production, and our kids loved it. It was creative, fun, silly, and paced just right for our young kids. We'll definitely be coming to more productions here.
Dial play the song was called “Best summer ever”. My six and nine-year-oldS still talk about it four months later. The show was fantastic and super engaging.
Saw Pigeon and it was Phenomenal. Such talented actors... the lady that drive the but cracked me up with that HAT (TELL EM!) Yes, i have a standing ovation and i was blown away to see that no one else did. I go to A LOT of plays and shows and this was miles above the Alice mess at the college a week ago. An the bidget for that was 3x this!
Nice place. Very organized. Great show.
Love this place, seen a few shows here already and all of them have been excellent. Went to their production of Little Red Riding Hood recently and my 3yo and 8yo both loved it.
I absolutely looove this theater! Everything they do is top notch!
Absolutely top-notch Arts Center for Children you will not be disappointed
We saw the very hungry caterpillar show. The whole family enjoyed it so much. Highly recommended for toddlers and preschoolers.
The props, the actors, the music, the lighting, the interactions with the actors after the show, the activities before and after... everything is just perfect. Tips: being a subscriber saves a lot of money.. as a family of 3, we only have to commit for 2 shows for the season.
Fantastic live theater for kids. My kids love the small band that accompanies the productions.
Options for kids as young as three as well as productions the whole family can enjoy. They offer flexible packages if you are interested in purchasing multiple tickets. Packages offer flexibility to change tickets if you can't maker your anticipated showing.
Had a great time watching "The Boy Who Kissed the Sky"
Maybe spontaneously seeing The Diary of Anne Frank on our mother-daughter girls' night out wasn't the wisest decision ever, but our unhappiness as we left the theatre was purely because of the subject matter and not the experience. It's a nice, small venue; there really isn't a bad seat in the house. The performances and staging were polished and professional--especially admirable since we attended the preview. It was a weeknight during Spring Break with a lot of children in the audience, and it was such an engrossing production (and they were such beautifully behaved children) that my own immersion in the story was never interrupted with talking or fidgeting. We are infrequent visitors to the Seattle Children's Theatre (we've also seen Holes and A Tale of Two Cities), but it has consistently been a high-quality theatre experience.
Best local theater, hands down.
Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, was well orchestrated, fun, good actors.. I like this place, they continue to do great work for children and adults.
Wonderful experience to introduce children to theater! Saw Mr. Popper's Penguins. Beautiful theater. Friendly staff that made the experience enjoyable. Question and answer with the cast after the show was great! Highly recommend.
Excellent place to take in a show with the kids. Fear not if they laugh or talk. It's all expected and encouraged. Love that they offer a quiet room for babies who may be crying - this is a nice way that everyone can still watch the show.
Nice location for children's education and entertainment with the summer camp experiences they offer.
I wasn't expecting to enjoy myself but I did. I took my daughter (6) to Mr. Poppers Penguins last year and it was so good, I had this child like aw towards the end when it actually snowed on us in the audience. This year we saw Edward Tulane (she's 7 now) and we both teared up, very touching and really well done.
This is truly professional theater. Worth every penny, we have been to 4 shows with my 3 1/2 year old and have never been disappointed. Im blown by how unbelievably true to the books their sets look. No detail is left out. Amazing.
Always great performances and the theater is a great size/setting to take kids to for a performance.
Have seen a few productions here with our nieces. Large theatre, comfortable seats and surprisingly good shows. The last production we saw was the cat in the hat. It ran for 45mins (just right for the little ones attention span) and had lots of great costumes, effects and they were very creative when their props. Kids and adults will enjoy the show.
It's at Seattle Center so there's a ton to do before And after the show. However, parking at Seattle Center is horrible!
Highly recommend for a fun way to spend an hour plus with the family.
They put on fantastic shows that are aimed at an audience of children and adults. They also have fantastic programs for the summer or for kids to do homeschooling during the school year. We absolutely adore this group in my household!
I love having a place that I can take my 3 1/2 year old to see quality theater productions of kid-oriented shows! The performances we've seen so far are wonderfully done and really hold his attention.
I have been going to the Seattle Children's Theatre since I was 5 years old and I cannot recommend it enough! They have a passion for producing their performances and they connect directly with their audiences. If you value youth arts programs, this is one of the best in the region!
My daughter has taken classes here on and off since she was about four, and she is 11 now. The classes are quality, and the best part is their affordability. If a student cannot afford the class tuition there is financial aid available as well, and when our family needed it when my child was very young, the staff made it very easy to access financial aid
Excellent productions! Love taking our grandchildren here. Two theatre stages, gift shop and snacks.
They have acting classes for children also.
Great location...The Seattle Center! Take a ride on the monorail, visit the Children's museum, Science Center or Chihuly Glass and Garden exhibit.
Sometimes you can find on-street parking but if not, I find the First Avenue parking garage works great and is only a couple blocks away. It is located at 220 1st Ave N, Seattle, WA 98119
We love SCT and have been season ticket holders for several years with our now 7 year old and Corduroy was our 3 year olds first show. In the past we have been so very impressed with the quality of shows but I think we were surprised at the simplicity of dialogue from Corduroy and our boys noticed. (Literally he only said “button”). Corduroy even said more in the book. we just saw Snow White and again I think given the legacy of the story and the fact that most children are drawn to the 7 dwarves we were a bit surprised by how this story was told. Our children along with many others in the theater were becoming restless and waiting to see the other dwarves. In any case, out of likely 12 plays that we have attended these were the first two that we felt were not as strong. We will continue to support the theater 🎭. Sadly given the closing of the parking garage down the street from the theater, parking has become a horrible challenge. We now give ourselves a lot of extra time.
My child takes theater classes here and loves it. There is an incredible pre school program that is two days a week. They take them to all the productions and teach them about backstage, creative play and speaking with the actors. My child LOVED it and her teachers Megan and Zeapoe.
My son and I had a great time at the ASL interpreted showing of The Velveteen Rabbit. The production was wonderful and the cast was great. I think we'll be back for more shows in the future.
Went with adult friends and thoroughly enjoyed the show. The cast was fun and engaging. A stellar performance from all ages on the stage.
A lovely organization. The venue is set up well so even children can see the stage if another person is seated in front of them. They also supply booster seats just in case!
Very cool place! I went with my kids on a field trip with their class and the play was amazing!! Great people and the costumes were so neat! I'd love to go again :)
We love it so far! We've seen the Velveteen Rabbit and the Hungry Caterpillar and our daughter loved them! She's looking forward to the next one.
Very fun. Just saw a performance of Corduroy. Great production. Great actors. The kiddos loved it. Definitely will return.
The production of Anne Frank was amazing! A powerful story already, the cast took it to a new level. Very well done and worth seeing.
Ahhh yes, the Seattle Chicken's Theatre, a robust symbol of discomposure that has cost me several prolonged lapses in judgement since my birth in '37. It was during this year that I gained insight into the workings of the heart, hands and respiratory system - knowledge I hesitate to forget in the near future, knowledge that carried me through my capacious work as a Chicken Surgeon at this very Chicken Theatre. The layout of the Theatre is decisively wretched - with gaggles of young chicks and chickens nipping about at their own leisure. As their impoverished, tender and querulous surgeon, it was my humble duty to equip each chick or chicken with a new respiratory system after each Theatrical performance, a position previously held only by lewd friends and unadulterated foes. Each rousing hour of my job I was tormented for days at a time, performing extensive feats of ill-will to thousands of chicks and chickens alike. Unlike other locally owned Chicken's Theatres, this one paid me several hundred dollars per decade, which was a treat for me, especially after I was diagnosed with a disorder that desolate winter, a disorder that left me with somewhere between three and sixty eight hospital bills, depending on who you ask. One chick from these years in particular stands out - Louanne, an austere, pensive girl of just 4 years, who always had a bit to say about the passage of time, the definite nature of death, and the fragile state of our ecosystem. If you are interested in seeing her perform, I suggest you complete the tragic journey to the Theatre as fast as you can, as my career is dwindling down, and chicks and chickens cannot fetter their own wishes.
We took our 2 year old son to see Goodnight Moon and we loved it. The actors were awesome. I will definitely be coming back to the theater.
Seattle Children's theatre is a great practice for getting kids to enjoy the arts. The shows are short and engaging enough that even young kids can sit through them.
We've seen numerous plays over the years and have loved them all. They are always done well and our children leave with big smiles on their face and their imaginations running wild.
Went as a chaperon with my granddaughter' class. It was soyvh fun. Kids loved it
Had a blast seeing "Mr. Popper's Penguins" with our 4-year-old daughter on a Saturday afternoon. Great place & fantastic production.
Children's theater with a great selection of entertainment. Located at Seattle Center it also offers a great place to play and eat before or after the theater!
LOVED the play and the staff were so helpful. We had a great experience coming to see The Velveteen Rabbit.
Well worth a visit! The Seattle Children's Theatre always turns out great shows and their classes are awesome for kids!
A wonderful place to visit with children or fellow adults. Great, enriching experience. Wonderful actors, from main to supporting roles.
An excellent location, protected, child friendly environment. My grandsons loved the play and wanted to know when we would go again.
Took 3 kids to see Corduroy, it was fantastic, and every bit as much fun as I remembered this theater as a kid myself.
The play was excellent. The facility was safe, clean, and comfortable.
Every show has been great that we’ve seen. Usually easier to find parking just south of Denny.
The plays are amazing for kids as well as adults.
Great theater with shows for kids of all ages and they do a lot of great outreach work! Can't go wrong.
Went with grandkids and family to see The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Nice area to play outside and a go to venue in Seattle.
The productions here are very high quality. Absolutely take your kids, or neice and nephew... It's totally worth it!
Excellent theater. We saw Corduroy. It was a very entertaining. Went for a school field trip.
Great kids theater with a good selection of plays. Staff is always very nice and patient with kids
Only seen a few shows here, but in general, it's a nice theater.
Minus the price per show, this place does an amazing job with their shows and providing meet-and-greets for the kinds and cast after the shows.
Awesome plays. I went there as a kid. And now I take my kids there.
Had a great time with the family at the Cassius Clay event. Nice intimate theatre.
Actors did great - kept everyone's interest and gave us all the occasional laugh!
We have gone here twice with a class of first graders. Excellent shows that kept their attention.
Opening night for the summer shows! Amazing young actors. Great show.
A great place to expose children to another level of the arts. Always worth a return visit.

Wonderful theater. Every seat has a great view because it's a smaller theater. Stage design is beautiful and you can tell everyone absolutely loves the organization.
Watched Carmela Full of Wishes on opening night, packed house, easy 1 hour show and just a happy vibe throughout.
Saw Paddington with the family and it was such a great time.
Fantastisch gut
