Reviews of Meredith Mathews East Madison YMCA
The building is small and old, but the group exercise classes and staff are the best! Since moving to south King County, I really miss instructors Teresa and Patti. Their classes actually challenge you! I've been to several other group fitness classes at locations in south King County and it's just not the same. Cardio kickboxing with Teresa was the best.
I work here. There's a pool and a gym, both for weight lifting and for running/ellipticals/etc. There's also a kid's center. The staff is friendly and we'll help answer any questions you have. There are a number of stairs to access each floor, however. There is an elevator that probably fits 1 person or 1 chair if you need wheelchair access
This older gym has some truly community minded staff members, instructors, and patrons. It may not be the shiniest YMCA in the area but it has awesome amenities like a pool, sauna, large showers with piping hot water, and fun classes. If you live near here, or are visiting the area, and want a place away from home that makes you feel welcomed, come in here!
I like this place, but I agree with other reviewers, staff is generally lackadaisical regarding cleanliness of the facility. I’ve submitted several complaints (verbal and electronically m) over the last 12 months yet the cardio equipment upstairs continues to be covered in dust and hair a majority of the time. The windows are nailed shut and therefore all that disgusting debris circulates around the room via various fans and it’s flat out gross to work out in. I may just be venting here but perhaps this could encourage other people to speak out in order to promote a healthier exercise environment for all.
The staff needs to clean the gyms they're way too dirty. You can smell and feel the old sticky sweat and dirt on the equipment. They seem a little lazy.
Great staff, nice gym. Family friendly. Patrick carr who is one of the managers is a well mannered, very respectful of all the Gym users.
Highly Important for anyone in FOSTER CARE or TRANSITIONING OUT to come here to get FREE SERVICES to help with LIVING INDEPENDENTLY. RENT ASSISTANCE, COLLEGE VOUCHERS, HEALTH CARE REFERRALS, CLOTHES, SHELTERS, ETC. This place is Awesome! Espresso shop downstairs, Treehouse program on 1st floor, has clothing. They take donations of clothes & infant through young adult items. There is an awesome treehouse upstairs that has glass floor to look down onto ground floor & very clever bird houses hanging from ceiling. Great place for teens & young adults to hang out to network & socialize, work on job skills, resume, issues bothering them, etc. Case managers are there to help work out obstacles.
