The Japanese language school is awesome—lots of levels and times available. Highly recommend!

The JCCCW is a happening place. Want to learn the Japanese language? Want to join a karate class? How about taiko drumming? These groups and multiple other community organizations use the JCCCW's campus, so it's a great place to try new activities, meet people, and do some shopping.
Which is what I often do--shopping at the Hoseikibako, a store inside the JCCCW. A cuter used-goods boutique shop in Seattle is hard to find. The items are Japanese and are donated from the community and are a GREAT bargain. Decor, crafts, handkerchiefs, art, books; there's a lot to see and buy! And the proceeds support the JCCCW's building upkeep, community outreach, and programs. Win-win!
Update: for people who need mobility assistance, the JCCCW remodelled two or three years ago, including a new elevator. There is an interior breezeway between the two buildings, which is a gently sloping ramp.
The School of TAIKO
If you would like to know about Japanese American history, this place is for you.
And we are providing a Taiko Drumming classes here on most of Saturday.

Hosekibako reminds me of when I grew up in Japan. Piece of my past life, which is a treasure. Nice volunteers are so helpful.

We came here with our daughter for the children's festival. They had a lot of activities for kids and a nice drumming session. They exceeded our expectations for what they would have and everyone was over the top friendly here! I hope they have more festivals such as that one as it builds community and gives children a chance to experience another culture.

Want to learn 日本語版? or do you just want to hang out with people who end up having two cultures? or are you just interested in asian culture? if you said yes to any of the above pay a visit. the building isn't anything special but that isn't the point. the point is to teach you a slightly more american version of asian culture to basically prepare you for actual asian culture. if you are from asia and want to learn american culture pay a visit. are you american and want to go to japan well you should also pay a visit. they hold a fair few events year to year and they are usually open on the weekends.

Nice people! Went to their All Things Japanese Sale for a fun summer afternoon treat. Beautiful dolls and kimonos, etc. to browse.

A great chance to peek into the historic experiences of the Seattle area Japanese community, their struggles, and successes, and indomitable spirit.

This place is really fun, even if you are not enrolled in any classes. There's a lot to learn here

The building is nothing special but the events and intent of the space are great. And should be the focus anyway.
