Reviews of Covenant House New Orleans
shelter for abused/trafficked/runaway young adults, a little strict but their rules help to establish savings and a daily routine. a ‘doctor’s office’ provided by a nearby university, hot showers, a bunk bed in a room you typically share with others, food, friends, a donation closet, a program for babies and kids, some intolerable staff, some decent and kind ones as well, a dorm-like program for those who have savings and are compliant, quiet, and mind their own business. from what i heard from a friend after my stay, but did not experience, once you land in said program and are ready to get out, they will help you look for an apartment, furnish it, and pay your rent for a year or so, when you are discharged you allegedly receive the 80% of your checks you’ve been forcibly saving, (which i did) i did not hear of or witness any child exploitation during my stay, i co-signed a duplex lease myself and was in and out in under 5 months. you can play the “system” and get free time outside, use/keep more money that you’ve made (than they’d like you to) they have decent resources for employment and health opportunities and all in all it was better than sleeping behind the mall or hiding from the cops and attempting to sleep on park benches during the winter. a girl that slept in the bunk under me did steal my slides, don’t leave anything you deem valuable “out” take them with you wherever you go, the staff 9 times out of 10 will not care to look into it too far and the cameras do not see what happens in bedrooms. and you frequently get free joes if you’re into that and are in ‘good behavior’
I will have to come stay with my two babies. I just want to know if they will keep is in our own room or if we will be sharing a room with others
Thank you for taking such good care of my niece while she lived there.
I brought some items there, for someone else to who needed them! If you have anything that you don't needed them bring it the Covenant House; they will be gladly appreciate
Great facility for helping youth get off the streets and into housing programs. They also help with job placement skills and services. Only complaint is a few and I mean a few faculty members need an attitude adjustment. Keep in mind too they only take up to age 23.
One of the most magickal places in the world. The staff is dedicated 24/7 to their mission of helping homeless youth get off the street. You can see real honest love in action here <3
Our church St Gabriel collected socks and we brought the socks over to help with the young folks that are at Covenant House. It is a great program to help with the young kids.
We are visitors. Got vaccined here when we passed by. There are leftover vaccines for anyone at all ages.
