The staff and other guests are friendly. It’s clean. Very convenient if you live in East Nashville. Free parking. There is plenty of workout equipment, a pool, and a basketball gym with an indoor track. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because the hours of operation could be extended a bit. Closes at 9PM during the week and 6PM on the weekends.

The Y is great. Love that they have Y-play for the kids so I can still workout on days I have the kiddos. The Y-play staff are especially warm and kind, and I feel good about leaving my kiddos with them. Thankful for this place and the community.

Swim class is very informative, easy, and inclusive. My adult swim class had adults of all ages and the instructors are very easy to learn from. I would definitely recommend this class to any new or beginner swimmer.

Our first day we had a mommy daughter race in the lap pool and the same week, a dance off in the family rec room filled with plenty of space and mirrors. The staff always encourages to get moving while having fun!

The employees here are super nice like I moved to the Northwest YMCA recently but went to the Margaret Maddox YMCA for a couple years it was one of the greatest YMCAs I've ever been to.

Lot of equipment. Plenty of workouts to perform. Staff is super friendly. Encountered quite a few people slamming weights after a set. If you can’t set it down, it might be too heavy for you. Nothing wrong with going down a few pounds.

I love this place. I've been a member since 2008. They are constantly adding more group fitness classes and updating their equipment. The staff is always wonderful and the facility is always clean.

Nice smallish neighborhood Y with friendly staff and good, if not luxurious, equipment and facilities. It's a comfortable family-oriented place, not a steroidal muscle palace or a pampered executive hangout. Membership fees lie in between these extremes.

The staff is so kind and helpful--our experience there is always so warm. The facility is clean and feels safe at this time, even though it's often full of people! It feels alive and healthy. We love coming here with our son--playing with him at the pool or on the playground, or dropping him at Y-Play and getting a quick workout in. We are grateful for it all!

The staff are so friendly and do a fantastic job with sanitizing & enforcing covid safe practices. There are multiple little workout rooms, tons of classes, and a 4-lane pool (and large outdoor pool). It's a little hard to get scheduled for pool time, as you have to call the day before and hope it's not full, but everything about the facility is lovely.

We just recently joined the Y and went to the Margaret Maddox YMCA in East Nashville on a hot day to check out the outdoor pool. When we arrived, we were amazed at how beautiful it was - big, clean, plenty of lounge chairs, and nearby picnic and playground areas. We felt like we were on vacation at a resort, and we can't wait to go back there again!!

Visited this Y as an out-of-towner with a guest pass. The facility was beautiful, clean, and full of varying options to work out. It was a hot week and the outdoor pool was a life saver. Most importantly, every staff member I encountered was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful. I wish they had this in my city.

Have been a member since 2016! Love the facilities- they are taking all necessary precautions during coronavirus. The pool is a nice bonus! Great weight and cardio section as well as classes.

Very clean establishment with lots of options for everyone! The hours are shorter than I like, but the equipment, pool, and lockers are always tidy and welcoming. I am excited for the summer to use the outdoor pool and slides! There is a recreation area with a pool table and foosball too. Everyone has been very nice and I always feel welcome. Plenty of free parking too.

All the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Gooch, Jenny, Pamela, Kelly, Kat, Annie, and the wonderful people at the door and even handling the finances. You're all incredible and welcoming and encouraging and FUNNY! It's always the most amazingly positive atmosphere in there! Such a gift to this community. Also the Maddox Y get better - facility wise - all the time! ALl the upgrades are noticed and appreciated.

I love that the Margaret Maddox YMCA really is a community center! I appreciate the diversity of the instructors and members. I also love the classes! I regularly go to Circuit Blast, Iyengar yoga, and the Cycling classes. The instructors are very knowledgeable, encouraging, and create a sense of community in class.

I love the East Nashville Y. The employees are always nice and cheerful. They've been very helpful to me with processing a refund for a swim class. The place looks great and has tons of machines and classes. I've never had to wait for a machine. Many of the machines also have TV's and cords for your iphone, so I'm able to watch Netflix while I run. All around a great facility!

The staff is very helpful and friendly. I joined primarily for the classes. The yoga classes--with the exception of the Sunday instructor who continually babbled about how great he was and how much better he was than all his instructors-- are quite wonderful. The ballet tone class is great.. BUT --The zumba classes are horrible... they are not Zumba.. they don't keep moving and they are geared to pathetically out of shape people ..some of them contain virtually NO LATIN music. There are a couple of "Dance it out classes" that are good.. but if you are looking for real Zumba.. you will have to go somewhere else.

I like the YMCA, but have had multiple instances where they are very inflexible to their rules & it has caught me off guard. One example is that you must cancel your membership in person. We know why they do this and its disappointing given its Christian roots... creating an inconvenience for the sake of profit is poor taste. They are a monopoly for the most part - built as a non-profit, but run to be very profitable (whew, they are expensive!)
