This is a very cool place to hang out and get some steps in too. TONS of shops and tiny studios for locals to sell in. The bottom floor has a LARGE antique area with a mix of everything old and collectible that you could imagine. Several floors and all sprawled out so you could easy walk for hours as you exercise. NOT wheelchair accessible and quite drafty in some areas, but still an amazing space that everyone should visit. Parking is across the street and it's easy to get lost here. Pizza place on bottom floor and a wonderful patio area to chill in with friends.

A nice place for a lunch or dinner out. Plenty of shops. Good people, clean with plenty of parking and great artist. Being in the old Mellwood plant has so much history the building is amazing.

A variety of attractive pubic spaces perfect for events and classes with plenty of parking. Adjacent shops offer food, candy, fitness, and antiques. The location is less than a mile from top-tier Louisville attractions including Waterfront Park, the Waterfront Botanical Garden, the Muhammad Ali Center, Louisville Slugger Field, downtown and NULU.

This artsy community is literally minutes away and the best kept secret. I was blown away at all they had to offer via vendors, businesses, and event spaces. I am coordinating a wedding that will be taking place in 2023 and I was so amazed at all this establishment has to offer. Please watch their calendar and stop by. You will LOVE it!

What a beautiful gem in the heart of Louisville! From antique shopping, craft and art shows, to restaurants, to gorgeous event spaces, this is truly a must see in town! We've been to weddings, expos, outdoor art and craft shows, and have always had the best time. The pizza place in the walkway/shop area is so good! We have caught a theater show of Wizard of Oz put on by the Chicken Coop Theater group and it was so much fun! If you can, stop by Butchertown Brewery and try their sours! So good.

Was there for a photo shoot with Jennifer & Jess. I walk with a cane & the elevator was out of order so I had to walk up alot of stairs. That is very difficult for me but I did it. The shoot was alot of fun and we are looking forward to seeing the results

The antique store is wonderful. If you are looking for something unique and unusual you can definitely find it. I just wished that the shops they have were open. I went on a Friday afternoon and nothing was open on the second floor.

Mellwood Center is a multi-use facility that is home to many artists of all mediums. It is a unique place, unlike anything you will find in other cities. Louisville sets itself apart with locations like Mellwood and in supporting a vibrant and growing artistic community. The buildings at Mellwood are vast and expansive. You can spend hours walking through them exploring the different studios and galleries from photographers to sculptors, metal workers, glass blowers, painters and more. Most the artists are very friendly and open their studio to the public to showcase their craft. Many also offer items they have crafted for sale, and most are very reasonably priced. If you are searching for something unique, you almost certainly can find it or have it created from your ideas by one of the artists who lease space at Mellwood. The structures and buildings at Mellwood are also fantastic, initially built by the Fischer Meat Packing Company in 1904 it served to process bacon for many years before being closed and repurposed. Today Mellwood is home to over 200 artisans along with retail, event space and several great restaurants and with over 360,000 square feet they always have a variety of areas open for new artisans. I have not ever visited an event here but have worked with various artists over the last twelve years and only wish that a place like Mellwood Center for the Arts was available in the greater Atlanta area.

The Butchertown Brewery is a small brewery with great tasting beer made on location. Danny Mac's pizza is also very good.

I continue to love the way the MAEC has improved over time. It is a beautiful venue that just feels special when you walk in to the complex. It doesn't look that much from the road but you will be surprised by the overall look and feel of the buildings inner areas. It makes the Epilepsy Foundation Gala a fantastic site for a worthy cause.

With Danny Mac's, the best pizza place in town right on site, the food the cinch. Many rooms are available for rent for any kind of party. We were there for a sweet 16 party. Meanwhile in the space across from the main center there was a huge gambling night fundraiser going on.

We went yesterday for the first time. If you were a fan of Joe Ley's or the old Derby City Antique Mall (before they closed), this is a place you will want to visit. The Mellwood Art Center is clean, spacious, comfortable, and with acres of beautiful items and antiques. Absolutely worth spending many hours there, maybe even a few days to see it all. You are certain to find something you like. Plenty of free parking directly across the street.

They are always continuing to upgrade the look and appeal of the venue. I've seen upgrades since the date I booked and they are very pleasing. 100% recommend this venue...

A very nice culture center with some very unique shops. A must to go to is the upper floor Butchertown Brewing small batch brewing. This is the spot to go to on the weekends. The tap room is opened, and there is always something new Brewing to try out. Today's special was blood orange sours, and banana cream. Wow, they are exciting and delicious. And then you have to go down to main level and try Danny Mac's pizza. This makes a great day with family and friends. Go try some today.

Absolutely huge antique building on multiple levels. There is so much to see here. Plan on 2 trips to get through it all. I bought an art Nuevo piece and I'm thinking I probably over paid as it was presented (and priced) as an authentic piece and upon getting it home it doesn't seem the case. No returns so...buyer beware. There's pieces at every price point for those who don't seriously collect.

there are major pros MAC as a venue. Mainly, that they are very hands off and you can have a friend bartend, open catering, etc. However, they are very hands off, which means they are typically slow to communicate. We didn't have a coordinator on site when we were told we would. They left chairs outside when we were told there would be none and were offered no help to move them (it was like 4-500 chairs blocking the entrance). When I asked for the fee back for moving the chairs, it took a month for them to respond and say it wasn't in my contract that there would be no chairs blocking the main entrance to the building. Feels kind of ridiculous that we would have to reserve the entire lawn to ensure that the stairway wouldnt be blocked, especially when there were no other events happening that day. I am frustrated with how this was handled. But I should have maybe expected it given that there was a change in staffing of the event coordinator and that the venue was so hands off.

I attended a beautiful evening wedding at the Mellwood Art Center. It's a unique venue with many separate and spacious rooms, which can accommodate large groups for a variety of events. Better parking and signage at the entrance for the facility and its various rooms will enhance my future experiences there.

We visited last week and purchased some chairs. The staff was wonderful about saving them for us to pick up a week later. The day we picked them up the gentleman in the back was very gracious and helped us get the chairs outside to dismantle. Everyone was very kind and very helpful and there's a wonderful selection of mid-century modern and Danish. If you're in Louisville take the chance and drop by. You won't be disappointed.

The Mellwood Art Center is a "must do" for us whenever we're in the area. From getting lost for hours among the treasures in the antique mall to sitting down with a piping hot order of crack sticks at Danny Mac's, there's something for everyone in this hidden gem. There are some great eclectic little shops and some wonderful original arts and crafts if you want to walk off the amazing meal you just had at Danny Mac's! Don't miss out on this place if you're anywhere close!

Very nice spot, this place has lots of space and copious amounts of antiques. The staff was very welcoming- while not being overbearing. I would recommend heading straight to the upstairs level and then work your way to the lower level. This facility seemed to have good ventilation and did not smell musty or smell like a bunch of old stuff was stored there, the air conditioning worked good.

Great facility for my wedding reception. Monte room offered plenty of space. Event caterer and DJ had easy access to the kitchen and flooring areas. Tables were ready upon arrival for decorations. However there were small things that have been brought to managements attention. Still, I would recommend and use this venue again happily.

We had our wedding here last week and everything was wonderful! They had everything set up to our specifications, and we were able to get everything set up nice and early. The event room and all the areas surrounding the building were perfect for our photos. The best thing by far was the freedom to choose whoever we wanted for catering and bar. It was so nice not to be restricted in our choices. We will definitely have MAEC on the top of our list for any future events.

It's very nice, filled with old antiques but their prices are just alittle on the high side. I seen lots of things I would have liked to have bought but way over priced and can get it for less somewhere else. Now at the same time, a lot of their pieces were very old and probably well worth what they were asking. Supper awesome please

Absolutely fabulous! Quirky lil shops and galleries! Beautiful place for weddings or any other celebration. I have had the pleasure of attending 4 weddings here (the Picasso room is the best!) And each time the celebration's were amazing! The grounds are well kept, restrooms are clean, and staff is very helpful. Highly recommended for a stroll through just to check out the art or celebrating your big day!

I come here strictly for Danny Mac's pizza !! If you want great food and a friendly staff, come here !! The portions here are great and I leave here stuffed and with a few bucks still left in my pocket. Also worth mentioning is they have way more than just pizza !! Everything me and my lunch crew have ever ordered here has been great! Its worth the trip to river road , even if you live 30 mins away. I know very little about the rest of the art center , but it looks nice from my point of view

Very nice venue for weddings! Plenty of room and light. It was also fun to walk in the open area between businesses and having a cafe-like atmosphere complete with a young lady playing a guitar and singing. And parking was a very pleasant surprise!

My son and his new wife selected the Mellwood Center for their wedding reception venue. My wife and I do not live in Louisville so we were not familiar with the area. We were, however; pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The Mellwood Center is a restored industrial building. They have done a pretty good job restoring the building from an industrial building to a reception hall. The building photographs well, there is an area for kitchen prep, it was clean, the high ceilings allow for good acoustics, the air flow is good and the temperature control was good although the weather was very cooperative and temperatures were very moderate as well. Overall, I would recommend the Mellwood Center as a reception venue. Addendum: with state government causing so many hardships for businesses, closures and restrictions creating cash flow problems for them; you can expect a slight delay in receiving your deposit check back. Mellwood deposits it and writes a new one after the event. If they are short on cash, you will have to wait.

This was a hidden gem that I had never seen until I went there for a wedding. Great artistic scene with various shops and studios. The venue itself was spacious, and we'll set up. I like their easy access to outdoor entertainment space as well as indoor. It is industrial and lofty with a good amount of parking. My only complaint so far is the bathroom. None of the stall doors would close.

Pretty event space. Lots of windows and a bar is available. We spent a little time in the shops across from the event space and it was nice as well. The art gallery staff was warm and inviting. There's a hat shop and a pizza place as well. They just need more parking because that lot fills up quickly and people park on the side do only one car can get through at a time.

I loved the atmosphere and the variety of venues, however, parking needs work. Handicap parking is not satisfactory. It was on the opposite end of the parking lot and it was short blue lines and no van accessible parking. If I owned the center, I would be embarrassed with the accessibility of parking.

I visited the Mellwood Art and Entertainment Center to attend the Grow With Google event. It was not my first visit to the center but was my first visit to attend an event using their many venues. I attended meetings in several rooms and got to experience the MAEC from a different perspective - much different than visiting the different artists in their individual studios. The Google event was great. I truly appreciated all the parking available at the center during this event. Past visits allowed me to interact with some of the wonderful artists. This is truly a unique facility and has a wide variety of art. I have two beautiful pieces of art in my home purchased at the center.

Attended wedding reception. Lots of potential but needs work. The acoustics in the place were gawd awful. I understand the DJ that was hired would be responsible for the sound system but come on...don't restrict them with the building structure. Having a house system would have turned a painful experience into a beautiful one. These are not that expensive either.

This is an absolutely great facility for art & events as well as dining & retail. I've never had a bad experience at Mellwood, although it's quite expansive & does usually involve a lot of walking, so be prepared for that.

Mellwood is a wonderful art complex with many storefronts and small businesses to shop from. Some of the businesses keep special hours so I would double check with them if there's a specific shop you'd like to visit. The antique store is amazing and full of unique finds. Overall Mellwood has an abundance of interesting locations that can be used for portrait purposes. It's one of my favorite places in Louisville.

Millwood Art Center is a beautiful Louisville City destination to visit. I was there for a birthday party held at one of the venues there that was nice and spacious also very clean; I went back at a later date to have a photoshoot done with Lynn Photography and had a great experience, Lynn took us around to see all of the art exhibited on the walls around the center and did most of our photos around them! This place gives you the culture of this city and is a nice place to hangout and eat lunch at one of the restaurants, get your hair done for a reasonable price at Krown'd Beauty Bar by Mrs.Tameka Bland and her crew or to just get away for peace of mind!

I filmed a wedding there. It was large with a lot of photo and video opportunities. Both inside and out. It is cool what they turned the old factory (I believe) into. Worth going there just to take pictures of the place itself. A lot of parking there too.

This place has so many options from services to items to buy. Dead sled leather company is well worth the visit. The owner Johnathan Baker can handle all your leather needs from simple belts or wallets for the men to premium leather purses for the women.

My husband and I used this venue for our wedding reception in 2011. We looked at all 3 spaces and fell in love with event room 3. This room you can do just about anything with as it provides a lot of space. If you have a lot of guest this place is for you! We were able to use our own vendors without a problem and pretty much had the room all day from 8am-2am. Still in 2014 if I had to do it all over again I would still choose the Mellwood go check them out!

What used to be used for processing meat is being repurposed for better uses. I went to get a massage at Message on Mellwood which is fabulous. So I don't know much about the other businesses. I love that an old building is an incubator for local small businesses. Check it out.

This is a super cool place, with some super cool tenants. Or daughter takes musical theatre dance - jazz and tap, and loves her teacher. The other classes from Fleur de li clearly attract a lot of aspiring dancers. They have an antique mall, spiritual yoga, lots of arts, and some super good crafts people too.

I love this building it's got a very intriguing old charm for all the shops and art studios. The giant antique place in the basement is wild if you're into bits of decor and trinkets from centuries past. Bit eerie sometimes.

Went to a cocomelon event. Very disappointed in the event. No refreshments sold, very little merchandise. I'd be surprised to find out the event was a licensed on for Cocomelon after this experience. I would not recommend.
